  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the burden and quality of life among family caregivers of terminal cancer patients and the relationship of these variables. Methods: Data were collected from 80 family caregivers and analyzed using SPSS 19.0 program. Results: Burden was found to have significant relationships with age, marriage, relations with patients, living together with patients and medical expense burden(p<.05). Quality of life was found to have significant differences according to age, marriage, educational background, relations with patients and living together with patients(p<.05). Burden and quality of life showed a negative correlation(r=-.538, p<.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that more attentions and interventions such as support programs should be given to family caregivers of terminal cancer patients, which can decrease the burden of family caregivers to enhance their quality of life.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to have diachronic understanding of holiday stress that has become the social issues through the analysis on the news articles about holiday stress from 1993 to 2016. Method: For this purpose, 416 articles and 457 cases about holiday stress from 5 daily newspapers such as Chosun Ilbo, Joongang Ilbo, Dong-A, Hankyoreh and Kyunghyang Shinmun etc. have been analyzed, conducting the qualitative and quantitative analysis together. Results: Firstly, the articles on holiday stress have been increased, showing the rapid increase per year for the last 20 years. It is presumed to be closely related to the socio-economic situation. Second, although there have been 'married women' overwhelmingly as the subject of holiday stress, the frequency of the young generation has been increasing recently including the 'married women'. Third, the 96.7% of the contents from psychological appeal appeared in the case of holiday stress is related to family values. Especially, the holiday stress related to 'value of patriarchy' was the biggest stress. However, there has been increasing holiday stress caused by 'value of kinship' and 'value of marriage' recently. Forth, as a countermeasure against the holiday stress, the 'perception on the change of family values' has been quantitatively suggested and it has become actively appeared in terms of contents after mid-2000s. However, it has been appeared low in terms of quantity and content recently. Conclusions: This study has significance since it has been verified that the holiday stress started from 'married women' but it has been expanded to the young generation and it is related to the change and co-existence of family values of our society.

  • Objectives: The study aims to examine the influence of university students' sociodemographic variables, parents' variables, and personal variables on their level of depression. Method: The study included a total of 334 university students enrolled in Busan. The data were used to perform correlational analysis and hierarchical regression analysis and were processed using the SPSS 23.0 program. Results: The main results of this study were as follows: First, the hierarchical regression analyses revealed that the most influential model was the model of personal variables. Among the personal variables, self-esteem was the most influential factor responsible for university students developing depression - the higher their level of self-esteem, the lower their level of depression. Among the parent variables, attachment to their father was the second most significant influence on the depression level of university students. Conclusions: This study showed that, in addition to attachment to their father, their self-esteem was highly significant in predicting university students' depression. The results of these findings have implications for future research in the form of programs and education to improve the relationship with fathers. Furthermore, the results of this study could be used to help and provide basic resources to alleviate and prevent university students' depression by strengthening their self-esteem.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors related to the functioning of family caregivers of patients with cancer. Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 124 patient-family caregiver dyads at a hospital in Seoul. Data collection was done between August, 2004 and January, 2005. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score for family functioning was 68.73. Family functioning showed a significant negative correlation with burden of family caregiver and performance status of patients with cancer, and a significant positive correlation with previous relationship between the patient with cancer and caregiver. The most powerful predictor of family functioning was the relationship between the patient and caregiver. The relationship between the patient with cancer and caregiver, and performance status of the patient accounted for 25.4% of the variance of family functioning. Conclusion: The results showed that the relationship between patients with cancer and caregivers and performance status of patients with cancer were significant factors influencing family functioning in family caregiver of patients with cancer.

  • Many leading companies provide family-friendly policies for a good work-family balance and to increase the productivity of their workers. The workers receive such benefits as family leaves or financial support for caring for their dependents. But the employees need much more support than these benefits to properly care for their families. This study examines the role of the companies in the expansion of family-friendly policies to the community. A few companies see community relations-such as investing in community programs-as linked to work-family policies. Accordingly, this study suggests the best practices and alternatives of many companies. This study also examines the role and perspectives of the Family-Friendly Support Center as an organization that can lead the community involvement of the business. This center can promote the company's collaboration and network of stakeholders.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of conjugal power type and conjugal violence level according to social class. This study was also intended to examine the relations between conjugal power type and conjugal violence level. The subjects of this study were 492 high school students in Seoul. Conjugal power was measured with used to measure the conjugal violence level. For the statistical analysis of data, x2-test, Pearson's r, F-test, Duncan's Multiple Range Test and Cronbach's α for reliability were performed. The major results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. There were significant differences according to social class in conjugal power type: The higher social class of the family, the more Syncratic Type were found. And the lower social class of the family, the more Wife Dominant Type were found. 2. There were significant differences according to social class in conjugla violence level: Couples of the lowest class appeared to be more verbal aggression and physical violence. 3. The most severe Husband-to-Wife verbal aggression and physical violence were appeared when the conjugal power type is either Husband Dominant Type or Wife Dominant Type.

The life scale are composed of spouse relation 8 items, child education relation 7 items, home economy relation 4 items, homework relation 3 items, selfish health relation 6 items, parent relation 3 items, and interest and social activity relation 4 items. The reliability coefficient of the development scale was Cronbach'α =.83 and the correlations of each demesne was high. For the better future life in this study, the middle aged homemakers are needed the improvement of conjugal relations, the child education, the health, the interest, and the enlargement of social relations. This life scale can help to evaluate their middle age, and to the planning of energetic healthful future, and useful to understanding characteristic and the developmental task of middle aged homemakers.

  • The purpose of this paper is to construct a new family of the special numbers which are related to the Fubini type numbers and the other well-known special numbers such as the Apostol-Bernoulli numbers, the Frobenius-Euler numbers and the Stirling numbers. We investigate some fundamental properties of these numbers and polynomials. By using generating functions and their functional equations, we derive various formulas and relations related to these numbers and polynomials. In order to compute the values of these numbers and polynomials, we give their recurrence relations. We give combinatorial sums including the Fubini type numbers and the others. Moreover, we give remarks and observation on these numbers and polynomials.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relations among family structural environment, materialism, and adolescents' delonquency. The instruments of measurement were Materialism Inventory and Delinquency Scale. The 483 male adolescents were selected randomly from the second grade of high schools in the city of Taegu. Factor analysis, Cronbach's α, MANOVA, and Scheffe test were conducted for the data analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. The materialistic level of adolescent was different with maternal occupation and education level. 1) Adolescent of mother whose occupation was general administrator indicated higher degree of possessiveness. 2) Adolescent of mother whose occupation was professional technician or administrator more regarded possessiveness as success or happiness than the other. 3) Adolescent of mother whose education level was junior college graduation or higher indicated more envy. 2. Each sub-dimension of materialism affected on the adolescents' delinquency differently.
