Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer among females in Turkey. Predictors affecting the breast self-examination (BSE) performance vary in developing countries. Objective: To determine the frequency of BSE performance and predictors of self-reported BSEs among women in the capital city of Turkey. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 376 Turkish women using a self-administered questionnaire covering socio-demographic variables and BSE-related features. Results: Of the participants, 78.7% (N=296) reported practicing BSE, whereas 9.5% (N=28) were implementing BSE regularly on a monthly basis, and only 5.7% (N=17) were performing BSE regularly within a week after each menstrual cycle. Multivariate logistic regression modeling revealed that BSE performance was more likely in younger age groups [20-39 years] (p=0.018, OR=3.215) and [40-49 years] (p=0.009, OR=3.162), women having a family history of breast disease (p=0.038, OR=2.028), and housewives (p=0.013, OR=0.353). Conclusions: Although it appears that the rates of BSE performers are high, the number of women conducting appropriate BSE on a regular time interval basis is lower than expected. Younger age groups, family history of breast diseases and not being employed were identified as significant predictors of practicing BSE appropriately. Older age and employment were risk factors for not performing BSE in this sample.
Background: Smartphone addiction, academic stress and anxiety of university students are increasing gradually; however, few studies have investigated these factors in medical school students. Therefore, this study investigated associations between smartphone addiction scale and sociopsychological aspects in medical school students. Methods: A total of 231 Yeungnam University College of Medicine students were enrolled in this study in March 2017. Gender, school grade, type of residence, and smartphone usage patterns of the students were surveyed. The Korean Smartphone Addiction Proneness Scale and each Korean version scale were used to assess sociopsychological aspects such as loneliness, stress and anxiety. Results: There was a direct statistical correlation between loneliness, stress of negative perception, anxiety and smartphone addiction scales. There was also a negative statistical correlation between stress of positive perception and smartphone addiction scales. There was a higher level of anxiety among female students than male students. Additionally, there was a higher level of stress associated with negative perception and anxiety among medical students in the first grade than other students. Moreover there was a higher level of loneliness, stress of negative perception and anxiety among students who live with friends than students who live with their own family. Conclusion: Smartphone addiction scale and sociopsychological aspects significantly correlated. Moreover, the results suggest that female medical students in the first grade who have been separated from their family need more attention and management of loneliness, stress and anxiety to avoid smartphone addiction.

Collected data were analyzed by $X^2$-test, t-test using SPSS Windows 12.0 Program. Result: The result are as follows: 1) There was no significant difference in quality of life between caregivers of patients with CVA in western and oriental medicine(t=.26, p=.792). 2) There was significant difference in relationship with patients(t=2.64, p=.009) and family support(t=2.12, p=.035) before onset of disease between caregivers of patients with CVA in western and oriental medicine. Conclusion: As a result, caregivers of oriental medicine with CVA patients showed closer relationship with patients before the onset of disease and higher family support compare to caregivers of western medicine with CVA patients.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate self-rated health status and its influencing factors among low-income middle-aged women. After dividing 372 Korean people of 47 different family names into 307 people of 28 indigenous family name groups and 65 people of 19 immigrated family name groups and investigating Pr. Db, Pa gene frequency of each family name groups based on phenotype of parotid saliva character the author have got following conclusions. 1. The gene frequencies of indigenous family name groups were Pr1=0.686, Pr2=0.314, Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were Pr1=0.7, Pr2=0.3. 2. The gene frequencies of indigenous family name groups were Db==0.021, Db-=0.979, Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were Db+=0.023, Db-=0.977. 3. The gene frequencies of indigenous family name groups were Pa+=0.248, Pa-=0.752, Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were Pa+=0.206, Pa-=0.794. 4. The Pr gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were in the middle of those of Chinese people and indigenous people groups. 5. There was no significant difference of Db gene frequencies between indigenous and immigrated family name groups. 6. Pa gene frequencies of immigrated family name groups were similar to those of Chinese people.
The purpose of this study was to know the state of rehabilitation treatment of stroke, to compare treatment with Bobath therapy or not, establish what factors have influence on treatment effect and hospitalization period and to be a great help for guide of treatment and education of patient and family We analyzed 87 stroke patients retrospectively for the patient's age, the subtype of diagnosis, the period at the start of treatment, the duration of treatment, the duration of hospitalization, the speech problem the co-morbid complication and the ambulatory function at discharge These patients visited the department of rehabilitation medicine, Holy Family Hospital, Catholic university of Korea from June 1993 to June 1998. The patients were classified into two groups. One group (47 patients) was treated by Bobath trerapy and the other (40 patients) was not. The results were as follow ; 1) The period at the start of treatment was 15.3 days and the duration of treatment was 32.4 days 2) The shorter the period at the start of treatment, the shorter the duration of admission 3) There was no significant difference between two groups for the duration of hospitalization, seventy two percent of patients with Bobath treatment was walked compared with 25% of patients without Bobath treatment was. 4) There was no relation between the speech problem and the duration of admission, but the group with no speech problem showed better results in ambulation than those with speech problem. On conclusion, as soon as possible early rehabilitation treatment of the stroke patients should be performed in order to reduce the duration of hospitalization. Special(or professonal) treatment with Bobath therapy show more improved funtional recovery than that without Bobath therapy. Therefore actualization of Bobath therapy is also required.

Background: There is a distinction in alcohol consumption behavior between adults and college students. This study aims to verify the usability and the optimal cutoff point of Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test-Korean revised version (AUDIT-KR) for screening alcohol use disorder in college students when the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM), 5th edition diagnostic criteria is applied. Methods: A total of 922 college students living in Daejeon were enrolled and divided into two groups based on how many items they corresponded to among DSM-5 alcohol use disorder diagnostic criteria: those who corresponded to ${\geq}2$ of the 11 items were classified into the patient group (107 males, 89 females) while the others into the control group (311 males, 415 females). The participants were evaluated using AUDIT-KR to find the optimal cutoff point for screening alcohol use disorder, sensitivity, and specificity. Results: The mean${\pm}$standard deviation scores in the AUDIT-KR were $12.76{\pm}7.27$, $10.72{\pm}4.62$ for males and females, respectively, in the patient group. In contrast, in the control group the scores were $6.26{\pm}5.23$ and $3.95{\pm}3.59$ in males and females, respectively. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (95% confidence interval) regarding alcohol use disorder screening by AUDIT-KR was 0.768 (0.715-0.821) and 0.883 (0.848-0.919) for males and females, respectively. The optimal cutoff point of alcohol use disorder for males was >9, sensitivity 64.49%, and specificity 76.85%. The optimal cutoff point for females was >6, sensitivity 82.02%, and specificity 80.48%. Conclusion: This study suggested that AUDIT-KR can be used as a screening tool for alcohol use disorder in groups of college students when DSM-5 diagnosis criteria are applied.
