Pixel decimation for block motion vector estimation (블록 움직임 벡터의 검출을 위한 화소 간축 방법에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, a new pixel decimation algorithm for the estimation of motion vector is proposed. In traditional methods, the computational cost can be reduced since only part of the pixels are used for motion vector calculation. But these methods limits the accuracy ofmotion vector because of the same reason. We derive a selection criteria of subsampled pixels that can reduce the probablity of false motion vector detection based on stochastic point of view. By using this criteria, a new pixel decimation algorithm that can reduce the prediction error with similar computational cost is presented. The simulation results applied to standard images haveshown that the proposed algorithm has less mean absolute prediction error than conventional pixel decimation algorithm.

Performances of Various AGC Algorithms for IEEE802.11p WAVE

  • This paper has reviewed the performances of various AGCs which can be adopted in IEEE802.11p modems. IEEE802.11p, a high speed mobile communication standard for vehicles, requires high performance signal detector since the channel impulse responses are varied rapidly in time. In order to select the optimal signal detector, we simulated the performances of three detection methods. One is using RSSI signal, the other is using RSSI signal and I/Q signal, and the third is using I/Q signal through the Monte Carlo simulation. We evaluated the performances of the algorithms using our own system based on MAX 2829 transceiver(MAXIM $Integrated^{TM}$) in a real vehicular environment. As a result, the experiment using Fully I/Q signal derives the most excellent performance with the lowest minimum receiver sensitivity, packet error rate (PER) and false alarm rate (FAR).

  • Although mammography is the primary imaging modality for the breast, it has its limitations especially with dense breast parenchyma. Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has evolved into an important adjunctive tool as it is currently the most sensitive technique for breast cancer detection. Despite this high sensitivity, overlap in the appearances of some benign and malignant breast lesions results in additional unnecessary intervention with negative results. These false positives, in addition to high cost and limited availability, necessitate establishing proper indications for breast MRI. The literature was here reviewed for recent clinical trials, meta-analyses and review papers which have studied this important subject. PubMed; the US national library of medicine, was utilized to review the literature in the last twenty years. Using the obtained information, current uses of breast MRI are discussed in this paper to determine the indications which are relevant to clinical practice.

  • Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) as a breast cancer screening modality, through generation of three-dimensional images during standard mammographic compression, can reduce interference from breast tissue overlap, increasing conspicuity of invasive cancers while concomitantly reducing false-positive results. We here conducted a systematic review on previous studies to synthesize the evidence of DBT efficacy, eventually 18 articles being included in the analysis. The most commonly emerging topics were advantages of DBT screening tool in terms of recall rates, cancer detection rates and cost-effectiveness, preventing unnecessary burdens on women and the healthcare system. Further research is needed to evaluate the potential impact of DBT on longer-term outcomes, such as interval cancer rates and mortality, to better understand the broader clinical and economic implications of its adoption.

  • This paper proposes a flame verification algorithm using motion and spatial persistency. Most previous vision-based methods using color information and temporal variations of pixels produce frequent false alarms due to the use of many heuristic features. To solve these problems, we used a Bayesian Networks. In addition, since the shape of flame changes upwards irregularly due to the airflow caused by wind or burning material, we distinct real flame from moving objects by checking the motion orientation and temporal persistency of flame regions to remove the misclassification. As a result, the use of two verification steps and a Bayesian inference improved the detection performance and reduced the missing rate.

  • 사회분야 전반이 전산화되면서 전산시스템에 대한 효과적인 침입방지와 탐지가 중요한 문제로 대두되었다. 침입행위도 정상사용행위와 마찬가지로 전산시스템 서비스를 사용하므로 호출된 서비스의 순서로 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 정상사용행위에 대한 서비스 호출순서를 모델링 한 후 사용자의 사용패턴을 정상행위와 비교해서 비정상행위(anomaly)를 탐지하는 접근방식을 사용한다. 정상 행위 모델링에는 순서정보를 통계적으로 모델링하고 펴가하는데 널리 쓰이고 있는 HMM(Hidden Markov Model)을 사용하였다. Sun사의 BSM 모듈로 얻어진 3명 사용자의 사용로그에 대하여 본 시스템을 적용한 결과, 학습되지 않은 u2r 침입에 대해 2.95%의 false-positive 오류에서 100%의 탐지율을 보여주었다.

Statistical analysis of decision threshold for DS-SS parallel acquisition with reference filter in a rician fading channel

  • This paper presents a statistical analysis of the decision throeshold for derect-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) prallel Pseudo-Noise (PN) code acquistion with a reference filter. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived, and the mean acquistion time is evaluated as a measure of the system performance in both nonfading and Rician fiding channels. From the statistical sresults, it is shown that in the performance analysis of the parallel acquisition system with reference filtering, the statistical evaluaion of the decision threshold seems more appropriate than the approximation of the decision threshold adopted in the other schemes[2,3].

  • 시간지원 데이터베이스 시스템은 각 데이터 항목에 대해 현재 비젼뿐만 아니라 이력 버전들까지도 관리하기 때문에 시간지원 트랜잭션은 기존 데이터베이스 시스템의 트랜잭션보다 더 많은 데이터 레코드들을 액세스한다. 그러므로, 시간지원 데이터베이스 관리 시스템은 시간지원 트랜젝션들간의 충돌을 최소의 비용으로 검출하면서도 시스템 전체 성능의 저하를 유발하는 거짓 충돌(false conflict)을 검출하지 않고 실제 충돌을 정확하고 효율적으로 검출할 수 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 시간지원 데이터베이스 시스템에서 동시적으로 실행되는 시간지원 트랜잭션들간의 효율적인 충돌 검출 기법으로서 2레벨 충돌 검출 기법을 제안하고, 모의 실험을 통하여 기존의 충돌 검출 기법들과 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 실험 분석의 결과로서 제안된 2레벨 충돌 검출 기법은 기존의 검출 기법들보다 동시적으로 실행되는 시간지원 트랜잭션들간의 충돌을 적은 비용으로 정확하게 검출할 수 있는 효율성이 입증되었다.

Computerized detection of pulmonary nodules in digital chest images (디지털 테스트 영상에서의 폐 노쥴 자동 탐지)

  • 일반적으로 방사선 의사들(radialogists)이 폐 노쥴(pulmonary nodule)을 탐지하는 데는 실제적으로 30%의 실패율을 가진다고 알려져 있다. 만약 자동화된 시스템이 체스트 영상에서 의심스런 노쥴들의 위치들을 방사선 의사에게 알려줄 수 있다면 잘못 판단되는 노쥴들의 수를 잠재적으로 줄일 수 있다. 우리는 형태학적 필터들(morphological filters)과 두가지 특징-추출(feature-extraction) 기술들을 포함하는 컴퓨터 자동 처리 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 시스템에서는 첫째로 형태학적 필터 (morphological filtering)처리를 행한다. 이 과정은 원래의 영상에 침식(erosion)과 확장(dilation)을 연이어서 행하는 것으로 처리가 어려운 X 선 영상을 좀 더 다루기 쉬운 상태로 바꿔주는 역할을 하게 된다. 둘째는 일차적으로 노쥴로서 컴퓨터에 선택된 의심 부분에 가해주는 특징-추출 테스트로서 이 작용은 노쥴로 감지되었으나 실제로는 노쥴이 아닌 경우인false-positive 감지들을 줄이기 위해서 사용된다. 그리하여 본 시스템은 노쥴의 정확한 판독이 어려운 폐의 X선 영상에 적용되어 false-positive 들을 효과적으로 줄임으로써 보다 효율적인 폐 노쥴의 탐지를 가능하게 하였다.

RETRACTED: Double-Dwell Hybrid Acquisition in a DS-UWB System

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of double-dwell hybrid initial acquisition in a direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) system via detection, miss, false alarm probabilities, and mean acquisition time. In the analysis, we consider the effect of the acquisition sequence as well as the deployment scenario of the abundant multipath components over small coverage of the piconet in the DS-UWB system. Based on the simulation, we obtain various performance measures for the mean acquisition time by varying parameters such as the total number of hypotheses to be searched, subgroup size, and dwell time. We thereupon suggest the optimum parameter set for the initial acquisition in the DS-UWB system.
