  • This paper proposes an intrusion detection system for in-vehicle network to improve detection performance considering attack counts and attack types. In intrusion detection system, both FNR (False Negative Rate), where intrusion frame is misjudged as normal frame, and FPR (False Positive Rate), where normal frame is misjudged as intrusion frame, seriously affect vechicle safety. This paper proposes a novel intrusion detection algorithm to improve both FNR and FPR, where data frame previously detected as intrusion above certain attack counts is automatically detected as intrusion and the automatic intrusion detection method is adaptively applied according to attack types. From the simulation results, the propsoed method effectively improve both FNR and FPR in DoS(Denial of Service) attack and spoofing attack.

  • This paper presents a new impulsive noise detection algorithm in speech signal. The proposed method employs the frequency domain characteristic of the impulsive noise to improve the detection accuracy while avoiding the false-alarm problem by the pitch of the speech signal. Furthermore, we proposed time-frequency domain impulsive noise detector that utilizes both the time and frequency domain parameters which minimizes the false-alarm problem by mutually complementing each other. As the result, the proposed time-frequency domain detector shows the best performance with 99.33 % of detection accuracy and 1.49 % of false-alarm rate.

  • This study investigates the application of data mining techniques such as artificial neural networks, rough sets, and induction teaming to the intrusion detection systems. To maximize the effectiveness of data mining for intrusion detection systems, we introduced the asymmetric costs with false positive errors and false negative errors. And we present a method for intrusion detection systems to utilize the asymmetric costs of errors in data mining. The results of our empirical experiment show our intrusion detection model provides high accuracy in intrusion detection. In addition the approach using the asymmetric costs of errors in rough sets and neural networks is effective according to the change of threshold value. We found the threshold has most important role of intrusion detection model for decreasing the costs, which result from false negative errors.

  • CR(Cognitive Radio) technology is maximized frequency reuse using unused frequency band. Conventional cooperative spectrum sensing has fixed false alarms. so all cooperative user has equal threshold. This problem is caused degradation of detection probability. so we propose and analysis the system model that false alarm differential setting through CSI(channel state information) for resonable threshold. Simulation results show improvement of detection probability.

  • One of the Problems, which the Intrusion Detection System has, is a False Positive. This False make to low condition of the Intrusion Detection System. The cause of the False Positive is that the learning is not enough during audit data learning steps. Therefore, in this paper, 1 propose the method of the Intrusion Detection System that be learnt audit data to agent with association rule.

  • Generally, because received signals from radar are very bulky, the data are divided into manageable size called section, and sections are distributed into several digital signal processors. And then, target detection algorithms are applied simultaneously in each processor. CFAR(Constant False Alarm Rate) algorithm, which is the most popular target detection algorithm, can estimate accurate threshold values to determine which signals are targets or noises within center-cut of section allocated to each processor. However, its estimation precision is diminished in section edge data because of insufficient surrounding data to be referred. Especially this edge problem of CFAR is too serious if we have many sections to be processed, because it causes many false alarms in most every section edges. This paper describes false alarm issues on MCA(Minimum Cell Average)-CFAR, and proposes a false alarm elimination method by changing section size alternatively. Real received data from multi-function radar were used to evaluate a proposed method, and we show that our method drastically decreases false alarms without missing real targets, and improves detection performance.

  • Copy-move forgery (CMF) in digital images is a detrimental tampering of artefacts that requires precise detection and analysis. CMF is performed by copying and pasting a part of an image into other portions of it. Despite several efforts to detect CMF, accurate identification of noise, blur and rotated region-mediated forged image areas is still difficult. A novel algorithm is developed on the basis of quaternion polar complex exponential transform (QPCET) to detect CMF and is conducted involving a few steps. Firstly, the suspicious image is divided into overlapping blocks. Secondly, invariant features for each block are extracted using QPCET. Thirdly, the duplicated image blocks are determined using k-dimensional tree (kd-tree) block matching. Lastly, a new technique is introduced to reduce the flat region-mediated false matches. Experiments are performed on numerous images selected from the CoMoFoD database. MATLAB 2017b is used to employ the proposed method. Metrics such as correct and false detection ratios are utilised to evaluate the performance of the proposed CMF detection method. Experimental results demonstrate the precise and efficient CMF detection capacity of the proposed approach even under image distortion including rotation, scaling, additive noise, blurring, brightness, colour reduction and JPEG compression. Furthermore, our method can solve the false match problem and outperform existing ones in terms of precision and false positive rate. The proposed approach may serve as a basis for accurate digital image forensic investigations.

  • It is commonplace that high false detection rates interfere with immediate vision-based fire monitoring system. To circumvent this challenge, we propose a fire detection algorithm that can accommodate color variations of RGB in temporal domain, aiming at reducing false detection rates. Despite interrupting images (e.g., background noise and sudden intervention), the proposed method is proved robust in capturing distinguishable features of fire in temporal domain. In numerical studies, we carried out extensive real data experiments related to fire detection using 24 video sequences, implicating that the propose algorithm is found outstanding as an effective decision rule for fire detection (e.g., false detection rate <10%).

  • In the application of deep learning object detection via CCTV in tunnels, a large number of false positive detections occur due to the poor environmental conditions of tunnels, such as low illumination and severe perspective effect. This problem directly impacts the reliability of the tunnel CCTV-based accident detection system reliant on object detection performance. Hence, it is necessary to reduce the number of false positive detections while also enhancing the number of true positive detections. Based on a deep learning object detection model, this paper proposes a false positive data training method that not only reduces false positives but also improves true positive detection performance through retraining of false positive data. This paper's false positive data training method is based on the following steps: initial training of a training dataset - inference of a validation dataset - correction of false positive data and dataset composition - addition to the training dataset and retraining. In this paper, experiments were conducted to verify the performance of this method. First, the optimal hyperparameters of the deep learning object detection model to be applied in this experiment were determined through previous experiments. Then, in this experiment, training image format was determined, and experiments were conducted sequentially to check the long-term performance improvement through retraining of repeated false detection datasets. As a result, in the first experiment, it was found that the inclusion of the background in the inferred image was more advantageous for object detection performance than the removal of the background excluding the object. In the second experiment, it was found that retraining by accumulating false positives from each level of retraining was more advantageous than retraining independently for each level of retraining in terms of continuous improvement of object detection performance. After retraining the false positive data with the method determined in the two experiments, the car object class showed excellent inference performance with an AP value of 0.95 or higher after the first retraining, and by the fifth retraining, the inference performance was improved by about 1.06 times compared to the initial inference. And the person object class continued to improve its inference performance as retraining progressed, and by the 18th retraining, it showed that it could self-improve its inference performance by more than 2.3 times compared to the initial inference.

  • Most of deep learning model training was proceeded by supervised learning, which is to train labeling data composed by inputs and corresponding outputs. Labeling data was directly generated manually, so labeling accuracy of data is relatively high. However, it requires heavy efforts in securing data because of cost and time. Additionally, the main goal of supervised learning is to improve detection performance for 'True Positive' data but not to reduce occurrence of 'False Positive' data. In this paper, the occurrence of unpredictable 'False Positive' appears by trained modes with labeling data and 'True Positive' data in monitoring of deep learning-based CCTV accident detection system, which is under operation at a tunnel monitoring center. Those types of 'False Positive' to 'fire' or 'person' objects were frequently taking place for lights of working vehicle, reflecting sunlight at tunnel entrance, long black feature which occurs to the part of lane or car, etc. To solve this problem, a deep learning model was developed by simultaneously training the 'False Positive' data generated in the field and the labeling data. As a result, in comparison with the model that was trained only by the existing labeling data, the re-inference performance with respect to the labeling data was improved. In addition, re-inference of the 'False Positive' data shows that the number of 'False Positive' for the persons were more reduced in case of training model including many 'False Positive' data. By training of the 'False Positive' data, the capability of field application of the deep learning model was improved automatically.
