원전 배관의 파손확률평가를 위한 P-PIE 프로그램의 개발 (Development of P-PIE Program for Evaluating Failure Probability of Pipes in Nuclear Power Plants)

  • P-PIE program is developed for evaluating failure probability of pipes in nuclear power plants based on the existing PRAISE program. In the program, crack growth due to fatigue loading and stress corrosion can be considered and the probability of fracture or leakage of pipes can be calculated. Crack growth simulation is performed based on stress intensity factor and a damage parameter and failure of a pipe is determined based on J integral or net section yielding. Using the developed program the failure probabilities of tubes in a domestic nuclear power is obtained and discussed.

FTA를 이용한 볼트 유도가열시스템의 고장 및 전기화재 분석 (Analysis of Failure and Electrical Fire for Bolt Induction Heating System Using FTA)

  • This paper presents a safety assessment method for FTA-based induction heating systems; the failures and causes of electrical fire are first analyzed for each part and module qualitatively, and methods to manage high probabilities of failure and electrical fire are considered, thereby improving the reliability of the induction heating system. The cumulative importance value (ACC) of the minimal cut set is drawn by setting failure as the top event, and STACK and SMPS are observed to account for about 70% of the induction heating system failures. Thus, intensively managing the basic events contained in the minimal cut set of failures for STACK and SMPS is expected to provide effective and stable operation of the induction heating system. When electrical fire is set as the top event, the STACK percentage is 90%. Accordingly, the current IGBT is changed to a FET to increase the applied voltage and prevent induction heating system failure, and a heat sink plane is installed to prevent FET heating caused by switching, thereby preventing an electrical fire. By classifying the parts and modules of the induction heating system in detail and by applying FTA based on actual failure rates and relevant data, more practical and reasonable results may be expected. Hence, continuous research must be conducted to ensure safety when using induction heating systems.

지진 손상 상관성이 플랜트의 확률론적 지진 안전성 평가에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Seismic Failure Correlations on the Probabilistic Seismic Safety Assessments of Nuclear Power Plants)

  • Nuclear power plant's safety against seismic events is evaluated as risk values by probabilistic seismic safety assessment. The risk values vary by the seismic failure correlation between the structures, systems, and components (SSCs). However, most probabilistic seismic safety assessments idealized the seismic failure correlation between the SSCs as entirely dependent or independent. Such a consideration results in an inaccurate assessment result not reflecting real physical phenomenon. A nuclear power plant's seismic risk should be calculated with the appropriate seismic failure correlation coefficient between the SSCs for a reasonable outcome. An accident scenario that has an enormous impact on a nuclear power plant's seismic risk was selected. Moreover, the probabilistic seismic response analyses of a nuclear power plant were performed to derive appropriate seismic failure correlations between SSCs. Based on the analysis results, the seismic failure correlation coefficient between SSCs was derived, and the seismic fragility curve and core damage frequency of the loss of essential power event were calculated. Results were compared with the seismic fragility and core damage frequency of assuming the seismic failure correlations between SSCs were independent and entirely dependent.

  • The demand from customers on better products and systems seems to be ever increasing. To meet the demand, the systems are becoming more and more complicated in terms of both scale and functionality, thereby requiring enormous effort in the development. One bright spot of this trend is that such effort has been the driving forces of the remarkable advancement in modern systems development. On the other hand, safety issues appear to be critical in many large-scale systems such as transportation and weapon systems including high-speed trains, airplanes, ships, missiles/rockets launchers, and so on. Such systems turn out to be prone to a variety of faults and thus the resultant failure can cause disastrous accidents. For the reason, they can be referred to as safety-critical systems. The systems failure can be attributed to either random or systemic factors (or sometimes both). The objective of this paper is on how to reduce potential systemic failure in safety critical systems. To do so, a proper system design is pursued to minimize the risk of systemic failure. A focus is placed on the fact that complex systems have a lot of complicated interfaces among the system elements. To effectively handle the sources of hazards at the complicated interfaces and resultant failure, a method is developed by utilizing a design structure matrix. As a case study, the developed method is applied in the design of train control systems.

  • 본 논문은 철도신호 내장형제어기의 정지결함검출을 위해 적용되는 워치독타이머 설계와 관련하여 FMEA와 FTA를 통해 타이머 결함발생을 시스템이 인식하지 못하는 은폐고장(Hidden Failure)의 심각성을 제시한다. 은폐고장은 결함허용을 목적으로 추가된 소자의 결함발생으로 인한 시스템의 신뢰성 및 안전성의 저하이다. 이러한 은폐고장으로 인해 안전무결성레벨이 저하된 상태로 시스템이 운용되는 젓을 방지하기 위해 본 논문에서는 바이탈워치독타이머를 설계하고, 결함발생에 대한 회로의 안전성을 평가하여 기존 설계로 인한 안전성저하 문제가 보완되었음을 입증한다.

Comparison of Restaurant Distribution Entrepreneurs' Pressure on Business Failure and Entrepreneurial Intention

  • Purpose - This study aims to exploratorily analyze relationship among pressure on business failure, social safety net perception, and entrepreneurial intention targeting potential business founders - pre-entrepreneurs and re-entrepreneurs. Research design, data, and methodology - Out of 450 collected surveys, 386 were used for analysis. Among these, 216 were from pre-entrepreneurs and 170 were from re-entrepreneurs. Frequency analysis, reliability and validity analysis, and regression analysis were performed. Results - In analysis of pre-entrepreneur and re-entrepreneur's pressure on business failure and social safety net perception, objective environment perception - a subfactor of social safety net perception - had statistically significant difference between the two potential entrepreneur groups. Conclusions - We categorized potential entrepreneurs into pre-entrepreneurs and re-entrepreneurs. Also, the current study suggests importance of social safety net to vitalize food service business startup by validifying its mediating effect between pressure on business failure and attitude towards restaurant business establishment. This research also established groundwork for future studies on ways to improve entrepreneurial intention or startup business sustainability by deducing social safety net perception difference between pre-entrepreneurs and re-entrepreneurs. This study was able to analyze relationship between those two groups in terms of entrepreneurial intention and startup business sustainability.

  • 본 연구에서는 이미 개발되어 있는 부식결함의 잔존강도를 평가식을 이용하여 파단, 대누출, 소누출의 손상모드 예측하는 절차를 제시하였다. 또한 이 손상모드에 따라 손상확률을 예측할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고 여기에 부식속도 정보를 결합하면 일정기간 경과 후 손상확률도 예측할 수 있음을 보였다. 이 결과는 노후배관의 수명 또는 교체주기의 예측에 매우 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

진행성 파괴에 대한 사면안정의 확률론적 해석 (Probabilistic Analyrgis of Slope Stactility for Progressive Failure)

  • 균질토 사면에서 진행성 파괴에 대한 확를론적 모델이 제시되었다. 파괴면 위의 어떤 절편에 대한 국부적인 Safety Margin은 정규분포차 가정하였다. 파괴면을 따라 존재하는 전단강도의 불확실성은 1차원 Random Field Models로 표현되었다. 이 연구에서는 파괴가 Toe에서 시작되어 사면 정상까지 진행되는 경우만을 고려하였다. 파괴면위의 어느 두 인접 절편의 Safety Margin의 Joint Distribution은 Bivariate Normal로 가정하였다. 활동파괴의 전체적인 파괴확률은 일련의 Conditional events의 급으로 표현되었다. 최종적으로 개발된 절차가 절취사면의 신뢰도를 얻기 위하여 한 예에 적용되었다.

  • It is generally known that software reliability growth models such as the Jelinski-Moranda model and the Goel-Okumoto's non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) model cannot be applied to safety-critical software due to a lack of software failure data. In this paper, by applying two of the most widely known software reliability growth models to sample software failure data, we demonstrate the possibility of using the software reliability growth models to prove the high reliability of safety-critical software. The high sensitivity of a piece of software's reliability to software failure data, as well as a lack of sufficient software failure data, is also identified as a possible limitation when applying the software reliability growth models to safety-critical software.

원공노치를 가진 CFRP의 적층방향에 따른 기계적 특성 평가 (The Mechanical Properties Evaluation on Lay-up Orientation Effect of CFRP Laminate Composite with the Hole Notch)

  • The tensile tests for [0/90]s, [90/0]s, and $[0/{\pm}45/90]s$ laminate composite were accomplished with acoustic sensor and failure processes were recorded by a video camera in real time. Also SEM examinations for fracture and side surface were carried out. The purpose of study is estimation of the failure mechanism and the mechanical properties effected by lay-up orientation for CFRP laminate composite with the hole notch. From the results, mechanical properties were obtained and they are similar between two kinds of cross-ply orientation in CFRP laminate composites, but not on $[0/{\pm}45/90]s$. And accordings to increasing the load, accumulate AE count was increased, regardless of lay-up orientation. Futhermore, failure mechanism was described by a video monitoring and SEM.
