Large-System Analyses of Multiple-Antenna System Capacities

  • Asymptotic theorems are very commonly used in probability. For systems whose performance depends on a set of n random parameters, asymptotic analyses for n${\to}{\infty}$ are often used to simplify calculations and obtain results yielding useful hints at the behavior of the system for finite n. These asymptotic analyses are especially useful whenever the convergence to the asymptotic results is so fast that even for moderate n they yield results close to the true values. This tutorial paper illustrates this principle by applying it to capacity calculations of multiple-antenna systems.

  • This paper presents a polyphase filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (PF-OFDM) technique. The proposed structure uses a modified discrete Fourier transform (MDFT) transmultiplexer to achieve greater spectral efficiency than an OFDM system, while preserving backward compatibility with it. The prototype PF-OFDM filter has excellent time and frequency localization properties, which matte it possible to eliminate a guard interval (or cyclic prefix) and easily suppress interchannel interference (ICI). This modulation technique uses a single DFT structure, in contrast to a MDFT transmultiplexer, which requires two DFT polyphase filter banks. The PF-OFDM modulation is .justified over multipath Rayleigh fading channels.

  • The orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) technique is well known to be robust against the frequency-selective fading in wireless channels. It is due to the exploitation of a guard interval that is inserted at beginning of each OFDM symbol. Based or the conventional OFDM and a polyphase filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (PF-OFDM) technique, we developed an adaptive beamforming algorithm for antenna arrays. The proposed algorithm would lead to an efficient use of channel, since it is possible to eliminate a guard interval and also easily suppress interchannel interference at the same time. In this paper, a series of computer simulations have been provided to show the performance of the proposed system.

  • In this paper, a new simple and efficient technique to improve the convergence speed of LMS algorithm is proposed in an interference-limited multi-path fading environment as encountered in indoor wireless communications. The convergence characteristics of the proposed algorithm, whose coefficients are multiply adapted in a symbol time period by recycling the received data, are analyzed to prove theoretically the improvement of convergence speed. The theoretical analysis shows that the data-recycling in technique can increase convergence speed by (B+1) times without increasing the computational complexity substantially where B is the number of recycled data. The results of the computer simulation demonstrate that the simulation results are in accordance with the theoretical analysis and the superiority of the filter algorithm.

Cooperative Synchronization and Channel Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • A critical issue in applications involving networks of wireless sensors is their ability to synchronize, and mitigate the fading propagation channel effects. Especially when distributed 'slave' sensors (nodes) reach-back to communicate with the 'master' sensor (gateway), low power cooperative schemes are well motivated. Viewing each node as an antenna element in a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) multi-antenna system, we design pilot patterns to estimate the multiple carrier frequency offsets (CFO), and the multiple channels corresponding to each node-gateway link. Our novel pilot scheme consists of non-zero pilot symbols along with zeros, which separate nodes in a time division multiple access (TDMA) fashion, and lead to low complexity schemes because CFO and channel estimators per node are decoupled. The resulting training algorithm is not only suitable for wireless sensor networks, but also for synchronization and channel estimation of single- and multi-carrier MIMO systems. We investigate the performance of our estimators analytically, and with simulations.

A Full Rate Quasi-orthogonal STF-OFDM with DAC-ZF Decoder over Wireless Fading Channels

  • In this letter, we propose a quasi-orthogonal space-time-frequency (QOSTF) block coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) that can achieve full symbol rate with four transmit antennas. Since the proposed QOSTF-OFDM cannot achieve full diversity, we use a diversity advantage collection with zero forcing (DAC-ZF) decoder to compensate the diversity loss at the receiving side. Due to modulation advantage and collected diversity advantage, the proposed scheme exhibits a better bit-error rate performance than other orthogonal schemes.

  • Porridge is one of the oldest recipes from Chinese emperor period, Porridge is made out of many kinds of granis and we concentrate on here ones that are made out of mostly rice, We find out now a day, porridge is fading out because it takes longer time to make one and usually people tends to thinks porridge is only for the patients, We try to figure out more variety of porridge by researching fifteen books. which are dated from sixteen century to 20 century, More specifically we focus on, in our research, recipes, materials that make porridge, materials that put fire on, pots that cook in, tools that handle with, purposes that make it, and effects that bring our after eat it.

  • In this paper, the improved initial cell searching algorithm is proposed for 3GPP W-CDMA system. The key objective of the proposed algorithm is to utilize the reliability of the first stage of cell searching algorithm in order to accomplish the second stage. So the proposed algorithm makes the mobile station transfers to the second stage from the first stage, just after the slot synchronization is declared successively at the same time-offset. In order to compare the proposed algorithm with the conventional one, the simulations are accomplished for cell search algorithm for 3GPP W-CDMA systems in the multipath Rayleigh fading channel. Some parameters are also presented for the better performance in the initial cell searching algorithm.

  • We propose a switched beamforming to improve the reception performance of VSB system in severe Rayleigh fading channel. The VSB system has only about 3% of known training signal for the receiver in a data field and the reception performance of VSB receiver is degraded significantly when there are near-0 dB ghosts in receiving signal. The switched beamforming forms several beams in different directions and selects only one beam among them. For the selection of a beam with best channel condition for VSB equalizer, we extracted the channel profiles in time domain for all the beams by correlating the PN511 sequence in VSB field sync and selected optimal beam by comparing the channel profiles. The simulation results show that the proposed method improves the reception performance of VSB system in severe Rayleigh channel.

  • CBTC(Communication-Based Train Control) system which is based on wireless communication can provide high density operation of the train using location tracking between ground and onboard train. It can also reduces maintenance expense because it does not require the ground equipment for tracking circuit and signal flag and so on. Recently, research and interest have been done on CBTC system. The high-speed trains up to 300km/h experience multi-path fading channel which bring about the performance degradation of wireless CBTC system. In this paper, we consider MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) antenna-based CBTC system for trains with Alamoutip-type space-time diversity transmission for reliable communication. Also we model a channel considering practical environment and evaluate performance improvement of proposed CBTC system.
