A Study on Happiness of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 행복감에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing happiness of nursing students. Data were collected from 219 nursing students in G city and analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. The degree of happiness of nursing students was $27.77{\pm}.2.99$. Happiness had negative correlations with stress in (r=-.889, p<.001), and positive correlations with Gratitude disposition (r=.335, p<.001), Social support (r=.334, p<.001). Factors that had an influence on happiness included stress(${\beta}=-.844$, p<.001), gratitude disposition(${\beta}=.126$, p<.001), grade point average(${\beta}=-.083$, p=.003), social support,(${\beta}=.090$, p=.005). These factors explained 84.0% of the variance in nursing students happiness. These results suggest that development of program to improve happiness of nursing students.

Impacts of Emotional Happiness and Spiritual Needs on Healthy Aging of Middle-aged and Elderly Population (중고령자의 정서적 행복감과 영적요구가 건강한 노후에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the relationship among emotional happiness, spiritual need, and healthy aging and to identify the factors affecting healthy aging in middle-aged and elderly population. Method: The participants were 100 middle-aged and elderly individuals. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires from March 9 to May 27, 2020. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. Results: There was a positive correlation between healthy aging and emotional happiness (r=.70, p<.001) and spiritual need (r=.52, p<.001). The factors influencing healthy aging were gender (β=.13, p=.026), subjective health status (β=.19, p=.002), emotional happiness (β=.60, p<.001), and spiritual need (β=.34, p<.001). These variables explained 67% of healthy aging. Conclusion: Healthy aging had a significant impact on women than on men when subjective health status was good and when emotional happiness and spiritual need were high. Healthy aging of the middle-aged and elderly population has confirmed the importance of physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Therefore, development and operation of programs that include various aspects of physical, emotional, and spiritual for healthy aging should be considered to confirm their effectiveness.

Influence of Life Stress, Body Image, and Happiness on Health Promoting Behaviors among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 생활스트레스, 신체상 및 행복이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to examine the correlations between life stress, body image, happiness, and health promoting behaviors, and to identify the influencing factors on health promoting behaviors of nursing students. Data were collected from 277 nursing students from April 16 to May 4, 2018. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Life stress, body image, happiness, and health promoting behaviors according to the general characteristics commonly showed significant differences in major satisfaction and school satisfaction. Health promoting behaviors showed positive correlations with body image and happiness, but a negative correlation with life stress. Happiness, body image, life stress, gender, and major satisfaction, which accounted for 46% of the variance, were significant predictors influencing health promoting behaviors in nursing students. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a variety of programs to lower life stress and increase body image and happiness in order to improve health promoting behaviors of nursing students.

Factors Influencing on the Subjective Happiness of Senior Nursing Students (고학년 간호대학생의 주관적 행복감에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This descriptive study investigated the factors influencing on subjective happiness of senior nursing students. The participants were 235 nursing students in grades 3 and 4 in K city from May 1, 2019 to May 28, 2019. The data was collected using self-report questionnaires that contained items on subjective happiness, professional intuition, human relationship, major satisfaction, family health, and social support scale. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with the SPSS 22.0 program. The subjective happiness of the subjects averaged 4.75±1.16 on the 7-point scale, and the subjective happiness according to the general characteristics of the subjects showed a significant difference in health status (F=6.826, p<.001). The most influential factors on the subjects' subjective happiness were health status (β=.177 p=.005), academic satisfaction (β=.138, p=.027), and family health (β=.268, p<.001), and the explanatory power of the model was 16.7% (F=15.160, p<.001). The results of this study may provide a foundation to develop an efficient intervention program to improve the happiness of senior nursing students.

Factors Influencing Subjective Happiness Index of Health behavior, Smart phone addiction, Suicidal Ideation among College students (건강행태, 스마트폰중독 및 자살생각지수가 주관적 행복지수에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to identify factors related to subjective happiness Index and by analyzing students, health behavior, smart phone addiction, suicidal Ideation, and in order to develop appropriate measure tp prevent suicide among university students. Methods: From November 19, 2012 until December 14, 2012, 300 college students from one of the iniversities located at K city were surveyed. Data were analyzed using with SPSS window 18.0. Results: The mean score for college students' subjective happiness Index was 4.58 on a scale of 7. There were significant differences on the Subjective happiness Index for the following areas: sex, parental survival & living and household monthly income. There was a negative correlation among the subjective happiness Index, smart phone addiction, suicidal Ideation. Conclusion: Results indicate that factors influencing Subjective happiness are smart phone addiction, suicidal ideation. We suggest that need to establish policies providing family support, smartphone addiction prevention program suicide prevention program to improve a level of happiness.

The Effects of Sports Fun Factors on Willingness to Continue Exercise and Psychological Happiness of Table Tennis Club Members (탁구 동호인의 스포츠 재미요인이 운동지속의지 및 심리적 행복감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the effects of sports fun factors on the willingness to continue exercising and psychological happiness of table tennis club members. The participants in this study collected data using a questionnaire about sports fun factors, willingness to continue exercising, and psychological happiness of 293 table tennis club members. The factors influencing the willingness to continue exercising were identified as victory/competition, interpersonal relationships, practice/benefit, and family support, and the will to continue exercising was found to have a significant static influence on both self-realization and hedonic pleasure. As a result of the mediating effect analysis of the will to continue exercise, the mediating effects of fun factors such as competence/awareness, victory/competition, interpersonal relationships, practice/benefits, and family support, on psychological happiness, self-realization and hedonic pleasure are confirmed as mediating effect except for competence/perception. In particular, it was confirmed that the interpersonal relationship (team atmosphere) factor had a higher mediating effect on self-realization and hedonic pleasure than other factors.

Effects of Fathers' Parenting Involvement and Parenting Behaviors on Child Happiness (아버지의 양육참여도 및 양육행동이 아동의 행복감에 미치는 영향)

  • The study examined the effects of fathers' parenting involvement and parenting behaviors on child happiness. A total of 270 elementary school students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades (139 boys and 131 girls) participated in the study and completed the questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, analyses of variances, correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Fathers' parenting involvement and parenting behaviors did not differ by gender and grades, but child happiness partially differed in response to those factors. Additionally, child happiness was significantly positively correlated with fathers' parenting involvement and parenting behaviors. Moreover, fathers involvement in leisure activities, daily-life guidance, and study guidance, as well as their being warm receptive and rejective restrictive parenting behaviors were found to be significant variables influencing child happiness. Overall, the results of this study suggest fathers' play important roles in child happiness and that development of an education program for fathers is warranted.

A Convergence Study of the Influence of Empathy and Prosocial Behavior on School Life Happiness of Multicultural and Korean Adolescents through Sports Activity (스포츠 활동을 통한 다문화 청소년과 한국 청소년의 공감과 친사회적 행동이 학교생활행복에 미치는 영향의 융합적 연구)

  • The study is aimed at examining the influence of empathy and pro-social behavior on school life happiness of multicultural and Korean adolescents through sports activities. The results of the analysis of total 461 adolescents participating in sports activities and not participating in sports activities are as follows. Adolescents participating in sports activities have higher levels of empathy, pro-social behavior and school life happiness than those who do not participate. And the more experience involved in sports activities, the higher the level of empathy, the level of pro-social behavior and the level of school life happiness. There is a significant correlation between empathy and pro-social behavior and school life happiness. Empathy and pro-social behavior factors affecting school life happiness are statistically influencing factors such as "relationship formation", "communication", "cooperation", "assistance", "emotional expression", and "comfort". The results of this study suggest the importance of dealing with empathy and pro-social behavior through sports activities in the school life happiness of multicultural families and Korean adolescents.

The Effect of Subjective Happiness, Ethical Sensitivity, Empathy Ability on Personality in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 주관적 행복감, 윤리적 민감성, 공감 능력이 인성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is a descriptive research study conducted to identify factors affecting personality by examining subjective happiness, ethical sensitivity, empathy ability, and personality of nursing students. The study subjects were 165 students enrolled in the Department of Nursing in Gyeonggi-do, and data collection was conducted through an online survey from September 9 to October 18, 2020. The average of subjective happiness, ethical sensitivity, empathy ability, and happiness of nursing students is 5.11±1.03 points, 4.33±.38 points, 3.83±.42 points, and 4.09±.39 points. Personality positively correlated with subjective happiness, ethical sensitivity, and empathy ability. The significant factors influencing personality were major satisfaction, subjective happiness, ethical sensitivity, which explained 52.8% of the variance in nursing students' personality. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop an educational program that considers ethical sensitivity, subjective happiness, and major satisfaction with high explanatory power for personality.
