The major deterring factor of radish consumption is bitter and pungent tastes caused by glucosinolates. Recently kohlrabi was introduced in Korea and mainly cultivated in Jeju Island during winter. Since the texture and taste of kohlrabi are similar to radish, the kohlrabi is expected to substitute radish. This study was done to compare compositional quality between kohlrabi and radish. The kohlrabi contained less reducing sugars, cellulose and pectin than the radish. The kohlrabi had harder texture than the radish. The total amino acid content in the kohlrabi was 2.7-fold higher than that in the radish. Especially hydrophilic amino acids including aspartate, glutamate and arginine, were about 3-fold higher in the kohlrabi, suggesting that the kohlrabi was more palatable than the radish. The total contents of glucosinolates in the radish in inner and outer section were higher than those in the kohlrabi by 12.4- and 28.5-fold, respectively. In a sensory test, the kohlrabi was evaluated less bitter and pungent than the radish. The kohlrabi contained more glucoraphanin, an anticancer compound, than the radish. Furthermore, the sweetness of the kohlrabi was evaluated higher than that of the radish, though kohlrabi contained less reducing sugars, probably due to high contents of hydrophilic amino acids. In conclusion, the kohlrabi was evaluated as more favorable in taste and contained more functional compounds than the radish, and thus it can be a good replacement vegetable for radish.

The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the survival rate of composite resin restorations in permanent first molars in pediatric patients focusing on the influence of risk factors related to patients and teeth. 172 patients (6 - 12 years old) who had their permanent first molars restored with composite resin from July 2010 to July 2012 were investigated. From the dental records, the influence of the risk factors on the survival of restorations was assessed. Location of teeth, classification of cavities, patients' age and caries risk were included as risk factors in this study. The caries risks of patients were evaluated by the value of the decayed-missing-filled teeth index with the records of patients taken at 5 years old. Among 354 restorations, 272 restorations retained and 82 restorations were replaced. The overall cumulative survival rate at 5 years was 73.9%. The main reason for replacement of restorations was secondary caries (81.7%). Patients with older age group and with lower caries risk group showed higher survival rate of restorations. No statistically significant influence was detected between the survival rates and the possible risk factors : location of teeth, patients' age and caries risk. The survival rate of restorations was significantly affected by the classification of the cavities (p = 0.002).
Of great importance in food safety culture are the values of an organization regarding food safety that combine the human and material requirements needed to produce safe and hygienic foods. In recent years, efforts have been made to improve the level of implementation of food safety management systems by improving certain cultural elements of food safety. This study investigated the current state of food safety culture in the HMR manufacturing sector. An anonymous survey of 46 HMR manufacturers of various sizes was conducted to evaluate the implementation status of HACCP prerequisite program and food safety culture. The perceived importance of food safety culture factors and their performance were also surveyed. Employees of HMR manufacturers who participated in this survey recognized that the participation of employees and leadership was the most important factor in ensuring food safety. Smaller enterprises are less aware of the importance of such organizational culture. The survey shows that food safety culture indicators in large companies are generally higher than those of small and medium enterprises. Especially, the manager's level of commitment to food safety, resources input, and education and training was significantly higher than that found at small companies (p=0.005). Among the food safety culture evaluation factors, it was found that education and training had significant influence on HACCP prerequisite program performance. Continued employee education and training on food safety and hygiene are important for HMR manufacturers to achieve HACCP certification standards.
This study aimed to examine the different factors affecting the intention to purchase meal kits between at-home concept meal kits and eating-out concept meal kits. An online survey was conducted with 565 Korean participants including meal kit experienced (n=412) and non-experienced (n=153). Meal kits selection attributes were organized into five factors, health, price, environmental protection, convenience, and familiarity. To verify the hypothesis, SPSS Statistics 23 was used. The main results can be summarized as follows. First, in the case of the at-home menu, convenience(p < .01), environmental protection(p < .05), and familiarity(p < .01) show positive influences on willingness to buy. Second, for the eating-out menu, health(p < .001) and convenience(p < .001) have positive effects on willingness to buy, but familiarity(p<.01) has a negative effect. This is the first study to categorize the menu of meal kits and investigate each factor affecting willingness to buy. Therefore, the results can offer useful guidelines to meal kit marketers letting them know the consumers' purchase behaviors.
This study is to investigate the perception of domestic appraisers about the possibility of using artificial intelligence (AI) and related risks from the use of AI in the appraisal industry. We conducted a mobile survey of evaluators from February 10 to 18, 2022. We collected survey data from 193 respondents. Frequency analysis and multiple response analysis were performed for basic analysis. When AI is used in the appraisal industry, factor analysis was used to analyze various types of risks. Although appraisers have a positive perception of AI introduction in the appraisal industry, they considered collateral, consulting, and taxation, mainly in areas where AI is likely to be used and replaced, mainly negative effects related to job losses and job replacement. They were more aware of the alternative risks caused by AI in the field of human labor. I was very aware of responsibilities, privacy and security, and the risk of technical errors. However, fairness, transparency, and reliability risks were generally perceived as low risk issues. Existing studies have mainly studied analysis methods that apply AI to mass evaluation models, but this study focused on the use and risk of AI. Understanding industry experts' perceptions of AI utilization will help minimize potential risks when AI is introduced on a large scale.
This retrospective study was to investigate the characteristics of unplanned readmission and factors affecting readmission within 30 days of discharge in patients who underwent heart valve surgery through electronic medical records. The participants were 423 unplanned re-hospitalization within 30 days after heart valve surgery at a tertiary hospital in Seoul from January 2018 to August 2019. A total of 48 patients (11.3%) were unplanned readmissions, and the most common causes were atrial fibrillation in 13 cases (27.1%) and pain at the surgical site in 13 cases (27.1%). Other causes were: 10 cases (20.8%) of warfarin inappropriate treatment concentration, 7 cases of general weakness (14.6%), 5 cases of hypotension (10.4%), 4 cases of pericardial effusion (8.3%), 3 cases of surgical wound infection (6.3%), 3 cases of hemorrhage (6.3%), 3 cases of high fever (6.3%), and 1 case of cerebral infarction (2.1%). Variables influencing readmission were history of cancer (OR = 2.60, 95% CI 1.13-6.03, p = .025) and the patients who went to a home rather than a hospital after discharge (OR = 2.91, 95% CI 1.33-6.36, p = .008), as a type of valve surgery, mitral valve valvuloplasty had a higher readmission rate than aortic valve replacement (OR = 1.21, 95% CI 1.21-4.98, p = .012). In order to reduce unplanned readmissions, an tailored education program is needed to enable patients and caregivers to manage their comorbid chronic diseases before discharge and assess risk factors for readmission in advance.

Wireless sensor network are widely all over different fields. Because of its distinguished characteristics, we must take account of the factor of energy consumed when designing routing protocol. Wireless sensor networks consist of small battery powered devices with limited energy resources. Once deployed, the small sensor nodes are usually inaccessible to the user, and thus replacement of the energy source is not feasible. Hence, energy efficiency is a key design issue that needs to be enhanced in order to improve the life span of the network. In BCDCP, all sensors sends data from the CH (Cluster Head) and then to the BS (Base Station). BCDCP works well in a smallscale network however is not preferred in a large scale network since it uses much energy for long distance wireless communication. TBRP can be used for large scale network, but it weakness lies on the fact that the nodedry out of energy easily since it uses multi-hops transmission data to the Base Station. Here, we proposed a routing protocol. A Cluster Based Energy Efficient Tree Routing Protocol (CETRP) in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) to prolong network life time through the balanced energy consumption. CETRP selects Cluster Head of cluster tree shape and uses maximum two hops data transmission to the Cluster Head in every level. We show CETRP outperforms BCDCP and TBRP with several experiments.

As it spreads to all industries of artificial intelligence technology, AIaaS equipped with artificial intelligence services is emerging. In particular, non-IT companies are suffering from the absence of software experts, difficulties in training big data models, and difficulties in collecting and analyzing various types of data. AIaaS makes it easier and more economical for users to build a system by providing various IT resources necessary for artificial intelligence software development as well as functions necessary for artificial intelligence software in the form of a service. Therefore, the supply and demand for such cloud-based AIaaS services will increase rapidly. However, the quality of services provided by AIaaS becomes an important factor in what is required as the supply and demand for AIaaS increases. However, research on a comprehensive and practical quality evaluation metric to measure this is currently insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we develop and propose a usability, replacement, scalability, and publicity metric, which are the four metrics necessary for measuring reusability, based on implementation, convenience, efficiency, and accessibility, which are characteristics of AIaaS, for reusability evaluation among the service quality measurement factors of AIaaS. The proposed metrics can be used as a tool to predict how much services provided by AIaaS can be reused for potential users in the future.

The valuation of infrastructure assets is typically conducted using the straight-line method, which employs the depreciated replacement cost as a basis. However, this approach has the limitation of failing to accurately reflect the actual value of the facility. In light of these considerations, the performance-based depreciation (PBD) method has been proposed as a means of evaluating the asset value of bridges on the basis of their performance, although it is not designed to take account of the environmental characteristics of individual bridges. This study proposes a hazard-performance based depreciation (HPBD) method that considers the risk level of individual bridges in the PBD method proposed in previous studies. The applicability of the proposed method was evaluated on more than 8,000 bridges. The risk factors for deterioration of bridges were selected, the hazard level of individual bridges was evaluated, and weights based on the hazard level were applied to the PBD method. The evaluation resulted in a present value comparable to that of the PBD method and a relatively high future value. It is postulated that the HPBD method, which considers the risk characteristics of individual bridges, can be used for a more reasonable evaluation and decision-making process.
A literature review is made on the physical and chemical characteristics of clay minerals in acidic solutions from the mineralogical and hydrometallurgical viewpoints. Some of the important characteristics of clays are their ability to cation exchange, swelling, and incongruent dissolution in acidic solutions. Various clay minerals can take up metallic ions from solution via cation exchange mechanism. Generally, cation exchange capacity increases in the following order : kaolinite, halloysite, illite, vermiculite, and montmorillonite. In acidic solutions, the cation uptake such as copper by clay minerals is strongly inhibited by hydrogen and aluminum ions and thus is not economically significant factor for recovery of metals such as uranium and copper. In acidic solutions, the cation uptake is substial. Swelling is minimal at lower pH, possibly due to lattice collapse. Swelling may be controllable with montmorillonite type clays by exchanging interlayer sodium with lithium and/or hydroxylated aluminum species. The effect of add on clay minerals are : 1. Division of aggregates into smaller plates with increase in surface area and porosity. 2. Clay-acid reactions occur in the following order: (i) $H^+$ replacement of interlayer cations, (ii) removal of octahedral cations, such as Al, Fe, and Mg, and (iii) removal of tetrahedral Al ions. Acid attack initiates, around the edges of the clay particles and continued inward, leaving hydrated silica gel residue around the edges. 3. Reaction rates of (ii) and (iii) are pseudo-1st order and proportional to acid concentration. Rate doubles for every temperature increment of $10^{\circ}C$. Implications in in-situ leaching of copper or uranium with acid are : 1. Over the life span of the operation for a year or more, clays attacked by acid will leave silica gel. If such gel covers the surface of valuable mineral surfaces being leached, recovery could be substantially delayed. 2. For a copper deposit containing 0.5% each of clay minerals and recoverable copper, the added cost due to clay-acid reaction is about 1.5c/lb of copper (or 0.93 lbs of $H_2SO_4/1b$ of copper). This acid consumption by clay may be a factor for economic evaluation of in-situ leaching of an oxide copper deposit.
