Prediction of Compulsory Replacement Depth by Empirical Method (경험적인 방법에 의한 강제치환 심도 예측)

  • Based on the previous studies proposed by many researchers about the evaluation method of replacement depth, a modified formula which incorporates the effect factors such as embanked height and load, replacement depth, cohesive force of original ground and unit weight of embankment etc, was suggested in this study. The new proposed formula was applied in the three construction sites of Kwangyang-Bay Area (Yeocheon, Youlchon, and Kwangyang) constructed by the compulsion replacement method. The application of the new method was investigated through these case studies in domestics. A modified bearing capacity parameter was estimated form the relationship of modified embankment loading and ultimate bearing capacity resulted from the site investigation, and the replacement depth was predicted by using this parameter. In addition, through the relationship analyses between each effect factors to the replacement depth in two areas, Yeocheon and Youlchon, an empirical prediction method which can evaluate the replacement depth in adjoining area was proposed. The predicted value obtained by new method is approximately similar to the measured replacement depth in Kwangyang area.

Factors Affecting the Healthcare Utilization of Spinal and Joint Surgery in Elderly Patients (65세 이상 노인의 척추·관절 수술별 의료이용에 미치는 영향요인 분석)

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status and factors of elderly patients' hospitalization for hip replacement, knee replacement, and general spine surgery. Methods: National health insurance data in 2018 was provided by the National Health Insurance Service. We used multiple regression to analyze factors associated with the medical utilization of hip replacement, knee replacement, and general spine surgery in elderly patients over 65 years old. The dependent variables are the length of stay and total health expenditure. The independent variables are the demographic-social factors (sex, age, region, insurance type, income level) and surgery-related factors (institution type, location of the hospital, surgery classification). Results: The most common factor affecting surgery was the location of medical institutions. Compared with the medical institutions located in metropolitan, the length of stay in rural medical institutions was higher and total health expenditure was lower. The lower quartile of income, the higher the length of stay and total health expenditure. In addition, the variables of age, type of health insurance, and type of medical institution were statistically significant. Conclusion: In this study, we confirmed the effect of sociodemographic factors and medical institution factors on the Healthcare Utilization of spinal and joint surgery.

  • Efficient using of web cache is becoming important factor that decide system management efficiency in web-Based system. Cache performance depends heavily on replacement algorithms, which dynamically select a suitable subset of objects for caching in a finite space. However, replacement algorithm on web cache has many differences than traditional replacement algorithm. In this paper, a web-caching algorithm is proposed for efficient operation of web base system. The algorithm is designed based on a divided scope that considered size reference characteristic and heterogeneity on web object. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed with an experiment. With the experiment results, the algorithm is compared with previous replacement algorithms, and its performance is confirmed ith an improvement of response speed.

The Effect of Recycled Coarse Aggregate Replacement Level on the Mechanical Properties of Concrete (순환굵은골재 치환율에 따른 콘크리트의 역학적 특성)

  • This experimental study is to evaluate the effects of recycled coarse aggregate replacement level on the mechanical properties of concrete produced at Batcher plant. The main test parameter was replacement level of recycled coarse aggregate with the ratio of 0, 30, 60 and 100% to the natural coarse aggregate. From the test results, it was found that compressive strength, elastic modulus and splitting strength are decreased with the increased proportion of replacement level. Therefore, some design coefficients or recommendations for elastic modulus and splitting strength of concrete need to be reconsidered with minor reduction factor of '0.85'.

Experience of Hemophilic Pseudotumor Developed at the Fracture Site of the Proximal Phalanx of the Hand (수부 근위지골 골절 수술 후 발생한 혈우병성 가성종양의 치험례)

  • Purpose: Hemophilia is one of the most common bleeding disorder, and circulating levels of factor VIII or IX are closely related to the severity and frequency of the bleeding. The severity of hemophilia is classified to be severe, moderate, and mild when the factor level is less than 1%, between 1% and 5%, and between 5% and 25%, respectively. Hemophilic pseudotumor is a rare complication occurring in 1 - 2% of patients with factor VIII or IX deficiency. If the treatment is delayed, it would cause disabling and life threatening results. Methods: We experienced hemophilic pseudotumor developed at the fracture site of the proximal phalanx of the hand in a hemophilic B patient. Hemophilic pseudotumor was successfully treated with perioperative factor replacement and surgical intervention included excision and autologous bone graft. Results: Hemophilic pseudotumor was healed with complete regression, and no specific complication was developed. Conclusion: When we accounter hematoma like lesion after surgery unpredictably, we must consider hemophilic pseudotumor and make a accurate diagnosis with preoperative hematologic screening and various imaging study. Subsequently, adequate perioperative supplement of concentrate and surgical intervention brings to the satisfactory result without recurrence.

Remote Cache Replacement Policy using Processor Locality in Multi-Processor System (다중 프로세서 시스템에서 프로세서 지역성을 이용한 원격 캐쉬 교체 정책)

  • The memory access latency of the system has been a primary factor of performance degradation in single-processor system and multi-processor system. The remote memory access latency takes a lot of overhead over the local memory access latency especially in the distributed shared-memory system. To resolve this problem, the multi-level cache architecture that contains a remote cache in the multi-processor system has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a new cache replacement policy that improves the performance of the multi-processor system with the remote cache. If the multi-level cache keeps the multi-level inclusion(MLI) property and uses the LRU(Least Recently Used) cache replacement policy, the LRU information of the higher-level cache(a processor cache) would be different with that of the lower-level cache(a remote cache). In this situation, the replacement of a remote cache line can induce the exchange of a processor cache line that is used by the processor. It is a main factor of performance degradation in a whole system. To alleviate this disadvantage of the LRU replacement polity, the new policy analyses tht processor's remote memory access pattern of each node and uses this information to reduce the number of invalidations of the useful cache line in the higher-level cache. The new replacement policy of the remote cache can improve the performance by $3.5\%$ in maximum and $2.5\%$ in average on SPLASH-2 benchmarks, compared to the general LRU cache replacement policy.

Application of sand compaction pile method of row replacement ratio as foundation of the dyke (호안기초로서 저치환율 모래다짐말뚝 공법의 적용)

  • In this study, sand compaction pile method was adopted to improve the soft ground under the permanent dyke, namely west sea dyke of Incheon New Port. The row replacement ratio 30% was applied to consider the ground condition, environmental side and the construction cost of the site. The stability and displacement analysis was carried out by respectively SLOPE/W and PLAXIS 2D program. Based on this analysis, it is found that the safety factor and displacement is within an allowable criteria. The model experiment was carried out using the acryl soil box with $400(H){\times}1200(L){\times}250(W)mm$ to show the displacement of the dyke and behavior of soft ground. Based on this experiment results, it is found that the settlement does not occur from 1 and 2 loading phases and horizontal displacement of 0.0075% occurs from 2 phases. It is also found that the differential settlement occurs 0.05mm corresponding respectively 0.02% and 0.03% of the dyke height(15cm).

  • For maintaining railroad, accumulated passing tonnage is a determinant factor of appropriate rail replacement time. Recently, Seoul Metro's rail maintaining system and technology is being improved from previous years, which increasing a standard of rail replacement. Thus, this brings importance of estimating and managing for accumulated passing tonnage. In case of light weighted train such as subway, current method of calculating accumulated passing tonnage has defaults of misrepresenting accumulated passing tonnage data. Because current method is based on the weight of passengers and train., and operation data. In addition, currently there is no mechanical and electronic system that could represent and support the accurate data between heavy and non-heavy traffic area, and accumulated passing tonnage is calculated inaccurately by estimating average value each line. The current method of calculating accumulated passing tonnage misleads to unpredictable data that represent inappropriate rail replacement period, which leads to under or over analyzed replacement period. If accumulated passing tonnage is over estimated, rail replacement leads to waste of budget. Hence, it is necessary to construct reliable actual measurement system to manage rail's life safely and efficiently, and in this study the accumulated passing tonnage measurement device is installed with using rail pad of optical fiber sensors and its effect is analyzed.

Fresh and hardened properties of rubberized concrete using fine rubber and silpozz

  • This work investigates the mechanical properties of conventional concrete (CC) and self compacting concrete (SCC) using fine rubber and silpozz were accompanied by a comparative study between conventional rubberized concrete (CRC) and self compacting rubberized concrete (SCRC). Fine rubber (FR) from scrap tires has replaced the fine aggregate (FA) and Silpozz has been used as a replacement of cement at the proportions of 5, 10 and 15%. Silpozz as a partial replacement of cement in addition of superplasticiser (SP) increases the strength of concrete. Fresh concrete properties such as slump test, compaction factor test for CRC, whereas for SCRC slump flow, $T_{500}$, V-funnel, L-box, U-box, J-ring tests were conducted along with the hardened properties tests like compressive, split tensile and flexural strength test at 7, 28 and 90 days of curing. The durability and microstructural behavior for both CRC and SCRC were investigated. FR used in the present study is 4.75 mm passing with fineness modulus 4.74.M30 grade concrete is used with a mix proportion of 1:1.44:2.91 and w/c ratio as 0.43. The results indicate that as FR quantity increases, workability of both CRC and SCRC decreases. The results also show that the replacement of natural fine aggregate (NFA) with FR particles decreases the compressive strength with the increase of flexural strength observed upto 5% replacement of FR. Also replacement of cement with silpozz resulted enhancement of strength in SCRC.

Properties of Cement Matrix According to Carbonized Sludge Replacement Ratio (탄화슬러지 치환율에 따른 시멘트 경화체의 특성)

  • For modern people who spend 80% of the day indoors, indoor air quality is an important factor in their lives. Radon and fine dust, which are indoor air quality pollutants, cause various diseases and lung diseases, so a method is needed to reduce them. Therefore, this study intends to utilize the air pollutant adsorption properties of the carbonized sludge by using the carbonized sludge generated through drying and carbonization of the sludge. As a result of the experiment, it was shown that the concentration of radon and fine dust gradually decreased as the replacement ratio of carbonized sludge increased. The reason is that the carbonized sludge has the ability to adsorb fine dust and radon, so it is considered that it gradually decreases as the replacement ratio increases. Also, the compressive strength and flexural strength tend to decrease gradually. The reason for this is that the carbonized sludge has a number of internal voids, and as the replacement ratio increases, the internal voids increase and the strength decreases. If the refinement and strength of the carbonized sludge replacement ratio are supplemented, it is believed that it will be able to replace the existing finishing materials.
