This study evaluated the effect of nutritional improvement of 0~5 year children of financially poor families after nutrition supplement of children and nutrition education in parents/guardians. The subject selected among applicants for low-income family financing of the government included 198 children (0~12 months:92, 1~5 years:106), and the average ages were 5.3 months and 2.4 years respectively. Food that includes each nutrient factor was provided to the subject for six months. Nutrition education was performed in two ways, through class and private education, once a month for both. Nutritional improvement was evaluated by body measurement and anemia prevalence rate. As to the survey on breast-feeding, complete breast-feeding accounted for 58.7%, weaning food 27.3%, and combined feeding 14.1% respectively, which shows that breast-feeding accounted for the largest percentage. The education program improved knowledge and attitude of the parents/guardians, which brings in positive effects on growth of children as well. The nutrition knowledge score was improved after nutrition education in 0~12 month children $(8.5\pm1.75\;to\;8.9\pm1.69)$ and 1~5 year children $(7.3\pm1.39\;to\;7.8\pm1.30)$. The nutrition attitude score was significantly improved in 0~12month children $(52.0\pm6.99$ to $53.5\pm5.21$, p < 0.001) and 1~5year children ($45.1\pm7.30$ to $49.0\pm5.96$, p < 0.001). In evaluation on nutritional improvement based on body measurements, it turned out that the wasting was reduced as for children in consideration of the height and weight according to the subject's age. The concentration of hemoglobin after the nutrient treatment for six months was significantly improved, and the anemia prevalence rate as well was reduced from 40.6% to 13.5%, which indicates the significant improvement. Based on the findings above, it turned out that providing quality food to children and nutrition education to the parents/guardians poorly fed in low-income families improved knowledge and attitude of the guardians and prevents anemia and improves growth, which brings in positive effects on growth of children. In the results regarding attitude and knowledge on nutrient/dietary life; however, the improvement level was relatively low when the extent before the education was too small, which indicates the need to revise and complement the contents and methods. In addition, as shown in the result of body measurement, long-term and consistent investigation is necessary since it is difficult to judge the effect on growth only based on short-term nutrient supplement.
Both genetic and environmental factors play important roles in the pathogenesis of Parkinson Disease(PD). The contribution of many environmental factors including dietary factor remains unproven. The purpose the study was to investigate the dietary habits, nutrient intake and dietary quality of Korean PD patients according to the duration of disease. PD patients were recruited from K and S university hospitals from May 2005 to January 2006. This study was carried out after approval by the Institute Review Board(IRB). British Brain Bank criteria was used to diagnose PD. The subjects were classified into 2 groups based on the duration of PD: <25 months and $\geq$25 months groups. General characteristics, anthropometric measurements, food habits and dietary intakes were investigated. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The mean age of <25 months group($66.9{\pm}8.0$ yr) was significantly higher than that of $\geq$25 months group($62.2{\pm}8.8$ yr)(p<0.05). No significant differences were found for academic background, occupation, living status and social activity, however, numbers of diseases, exercise and family history of PD were significantly different. 2) Anthropometric measurements were not different between the two groups. 3) The frequency of taking snacks was significantly higher in <25 months group and the amounts of alcohol consumption were significantly higher in $\geq$25 months group. 4) Daily intakes of most nutrients were very low compared with DRI. 5) The MAR score was significantly lower in <25 months group(p<0.05;) however, the scores of DVS, DDS and DQI were not significantly different. As a conclusion an overall nutrient intake and dietary quality of the Parkinson's Disease patients need to be improved regardless of duration of the disease and a well-balanced diet should be emphasized.
Water deficit stress during early soybean[Glycine max (L.) Merrill] growth stage is the most important environmental factor limiting productivity. Eight soybean genotypes were grown in replicated pot under well-watered(control: near 0 bar) and drought(-5 and -10 bars) conditions. Soybean plants were subject to drought stress for 20 days at 10 days after seed emergence. Significant genotypic variation was observed for leaf area(LA) and total dry weight (TDW). At the end of water stress, LA and TDW of Hwanggeumkong and Paldalkong, which had large LA in the non-stressed control, were more sensitive to water stress than those of the other cultivars, while those of Suwon 93 with small LA were insensitive. Leaf proline and abscisic acid(ABA) contents increased after water stress. However, changes in proline and ABA contents were not consistently related to the changes in LA as affected by water stress. As the soil water potential decreased, the yield reduction of Hodgson 78 showing large decrease in LA and TDW in response to water deficit was severe when compared to that of Baegunkong with small decrease in LA and TDW. Relatively greater yield stability and higher average yield across soil water potential were observed in Baegunkong. Of specific interest was the small reduction in yield of Paldalkong in spite of its significant decrease in LA and TDW.
This study is for the analysis of the influence that the factors(communication, domestic life, offensive action, economic problem) of marital conflicts of old age and ecological systems factors(individual, family, sociality) have a impact to the divorce of elderly(thoughts and attempts of divorce) and the impulse to commit a crime(violence, egoism, running away from home). The guinea pigs is 350 married people of ages greater than 55 in the capital area. The 338 collected data excluding incomplete 12 data were analyzed. Statistical methods used in this study were factor analysis, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Hiearchical regression analysis and Scheffe test with SPSS 18.0. The result are as follows. First, the marital conflict and ecological systems have a severe impact to the divorce of elderly, the more the conflict of the domestic life and the offensive action, the conflict in communicative and economic problem are getting higher. Second, the marital conflict and ecological systems have a severe impact to the impulse to commit a crime, the more the conflict of a domestic life and the conflict caused by spouse's attack, the economic problem, the egotistic impulse are getting higher. Third, there are some statistically similar differences of all the parts(sex, academic ability, job, children coresidence, religion, physical condition, monthly average income) in the marital conflict by characteristic of sociology of population, ecological systems, the divorce of elderly and the impulse to commit a crime.
This study examines the impact of school violence on South Korean students' psychological well-being. The research is designed to analyze how different types of experiences of school violence-victim, perpetrator, victim-perpetrator, and non-involvement-influence students' suicidal impulse and sense of happiness. Empirical data was gained from a national-scale survey conducted by Social Development Research Institute at Yonsei University in 2013, and was analyzed using binary logistic and multiple regression methods. Findings suggest that any types of experiences of school violence had significant effect on suicidal impulse. In particular, the likelihood of victim-perpetrator to experience suicidal impulse was 7.1 times stronger than non-involvement. However, the effect of experiences of school violence on students' sense of happiness was insignificant. While the impact of school violence on sense of happiness among victims and victim-perpetrators was significant, its impact among perpetrators proved insignificant. Rather, stress factor-in particular, stress from peers-had more significant impact on the level of students' happiness. This study contributes to understanding the multiple effect of school violence by examining both negative and positive dimensions of psychological well-being.

The sediment removal index derived from the chemical contaminants, $CI_{HC}$, is currently in use to identify and define the spatial extent of the contaminated sediments in the sea. In order to analyze the sensitivity of the ecological and human risk associated with contaminated sediment, we evaluated five hypothetical contaminated sediments, whose $CI_{HC}$ values are identical but consisted of different contaminant contents, using $TrophicTrace^{(R)}$ model dedicated to evaluate sediment risk, against the resident greenling (Hexagrammos otakii) and humans by calculating No-Observed-Adverse-Effect-Level based Toxicity Quotient (NOAEL TQ) and Lowest-Observed-Adverse-Effect-Level based Toxicity Quotient (LOAEL TQ), and cancer risks and hazard indices (HI), respectively, based on the site conceptual model and exposure assumptions of fish ingestion to human receptor populations. NOAEL and LOAEL TQ values varied as much as a factor of 2 among 5 hypothetical sediments. Chemical element specific contribution to the carcinogenic risk and HI varied also greatly in these sediments. The reason for this significant dissimilarity in ecological and human risk stems from the different risk of each contaminant to the resident fish and human receptor. When the conceptual food web model is constructed for the target biological species for a given site, the ecological and human risk analysis considering trophic transfer of contaminants will add a ecosystem based tool for the management of contaminated sediments.
Human noroviruses (HuNoVs) are a leading cause of gastroenteritis outbreaks worldwide. However, the paucity of appropriate cell culture models for HuNoV replication has prevented developing effective anti-HuNoV therapies. In this study, first, the replication of the virus at various temperatures in different cells was compared, which showed that lowering the culture temperature from 37℃ significantly increased virus replication in Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells. Second, the expression levels of autophagy-, immune-, and apoptosis-related genes at 30℃ and 37℃ were compared to explore factors affecting HuNoV replication. HuNoV cultured at 37℃ showed significantly increased autophagy-related genes (ATG5 and ATG7) and immune-related genes (IFNA, IFNB, ISG15, and NFKB) compared to mock. However, the virus cultured at 30℃ showed significantly decreased expression of autophagy-related genes (ATG5 and ATG7), but not significantly different major immune-related genes (IFNA, ISG15, and NFKB) compared to mock. Importantly, expression of the transcription factor FOXO1, which controls autophagy- and immune-related gene expression, was significantly lower at 30℃. Moreover, FOXO1 inhibition in temperature-optimized MDCK cells enhanced HuNoV replication, highlighting FOXO1 inhibition as an approach for successful virus replication. In the temperature-optimized cells, various HuNoV genotypes were successfully replicated, with GI.8 showing the highest replication levels followed by GII.1, GII.3, and GII.4. Furthermore, ultrastructural analysis of the infected cells revealed functional HuNoV replication at low temperature, with increased cellular apoptosis and decreased autophagic vacuoles. In conclusion, temperature-optimized MDCK cells can be used as a convenient culture model for HuNoV replication by inhibiting FOXO1 and providing adaptability to different genotypes.

In the case of horizontally curved bridges, the use of curved composite box girder bridges are increased due to its functionality and for aesthetical reason. As it compared with the open section, the steel box girder bridges have advantages to resistant of distortion and corrosion. In practice the grid analysis is conducted by utilizing only the cross beam. Since the stiffness of the concrete slab is not included in the grid analysis, the cross beam is induced the distribution of the live load. In this study the affects of the radius of curvature, the number of diaphragm and cross beam to the load distribution of the curved steel box girder bridge was investigated by applying the finite element method. The results indicate that the curvature of curved bridge had a large affect of the load distribution and as the curvature was increased the load distribution factor was increased. A single diaphragm at the center of girder is important role for the load distribution effects and structural stability, but additional diaphragm did not affect it as much. The affects of the cross beam to the load distribution were investigated and its influence was minor. It can be safely concluded that the addition of cross beam does not aid the purpose of the live load distribution. And the stiffness of concrete slab for the load distribution effects should be concerned in the design of curved steel box girder bridges.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to explore dental hygiene treatment fear and anxiety in dental patients. METHODS: The sample consisted of 466 dental patients who had received the dental hygiene treatment at 8 Dental Hospitals and Clinics in Daegu city between March and August 2006 studied. Dental hygienists recruited a questionnaire, which includes generalized anxiety sub-scale(4 items), specific fear sub-scale(5 items), distrust sub-scale(5 items), and catastrophic anxiety sub-scale(4 items). Minimum score is 1, and maximum score is 5. The research was designed to be a cross-sectional measured study. SAS statistical software was used for the analysis. The characteristics of the study sample were described by mean and standard deviation(SD) for continuous variables and by frequency and percentage for categorical variables. The Student's t-test and analysis of variance(ANOVA) were used to compare fear and anxiety score in demographic variables. A Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted for relationship among values of fear and anxiety for dental hygiene. Multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the factors associated with fear and anxiety related with dental hygiene. RESULTS: A total of 466 dental patients were analyzed, their average age${\pm}$SD was $37.7{\pm}12.9$ years(range: 15-79 yr). The mean value for dental hygiene fear and anxiety was 2.70(generalized anxiety 2.65, specific fear 2.93, distrust anxiety 2.72, and catastrophic anxiety 2.42, respectively). There was a statistically significant difference in gender(p<0.05), 2.81 for women was higher than 2.55 for men(p=.0000). The older we are, the higher fear and anxiety for dental hygiene treatment were. that is, under age of 20 years 2.49, 20 years 2.59, 30 years 2.69, 40 years 2.77, 50 years 2.88, 60 years 2.69, and over age of 70 2.45, respectively(p=.0321). Factors related to dental hygiene treatment fear and anxiety by multiple regressions were gender(${\square}$=0.18, p=0.0001), age(${\square}$=.07, p=.0058), and the time when visits dentist recently(${\square}$=.07, p=.0058). CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, gender, age and the time when visits dentist recently were significantly associated with dental hygiene treatment fear and anxiety. We recommend that further research should investigate a dental hygiene treatment fear and anxiety by using more follow-up study.
We proposed the revised full-pattern-fitting method of illite polytype quantification with background correction and scale factor correction of WILDFIRE(C) simulated pattern, and R% value ((${\sum}$|simulated-measured|/simulated)/ $n{\times}100$) calculation, and then verified the reliability of this method by applying for the test sample ($2M_1$:1M$$\frac{._-}{.}$$1:1), and by comparing the result with Grathoff and Moore method (1996). We confirmed that the proposed method showed the error range of less than 3.6%, which is much lower than the previous full-pattern-fitting methods, in spite of the impurities of the test sample. In the comparison with Grathoff and Moore method for 2 tested samples, we obtained the relatively higher $2M_1$ contents using Grathoff and Moore method, whereas we obtained the reliable results with less than 10% of R% values.
