석굴암 불상에 나타난 법의 연구 (A Study on the Costumes of stone Buddhist image in the Sokkuram Cave Temple)

  • Prime Minister Kim tart-song is said to have built this cave temple in the tenth year of the reign of King Kyongdok-wang(742-765) of Unified Shilla(751). The numerous stone Buddhist images in the grotto represent the best Buddhist figure of the Unified Shilla period and of all Korea. The Sokkuram Grotto is composed of the main hall, entrance to the main chamber and antechamber in space. The main hall beyond the small antechamber is round and the ceilling is domed. Within the rotunda sits a majestic Buddha(Amitabha), 3.48m in height and 2.6m in width, carved in granite and facing east. Surrounding the main Seated Buddha are eleven-headed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva and the other three Buddhist images, Ten disciples, Buddhist figures in the ten Niches in relief. An eleven-headed Avalokltesvara Bodhisattva of boundless mercy is sculptured on the wall behind the main Seated Buddha. Further guarding the Buddha are ten standing Arhans of the Disciples of Buddha. Next, two Devas. one on each side, stand guard. Two Bodhisattvas are the saints who are next to the Seated Buddha in importance, also one on each side. And, There are ten niches around the dome. They contain seven seated Bodhisattvas and one Vimalakirti(the name of a famous lay disciple of the Buddha). Two niches are empty. Consequently, there are total thirty-eight Buddhist images in the Sokkuram cave temple. The Buddhist images have been reguarded as masterpieces of Buddhist art and Shilla culture of Unified Shilla in the eightth century. 카자흐스탄 아파트 단위세대 평면변경 사례를 통해 살펴본 주거요구의 경향 (Understanding the Living Demands of Kazakh Apartments through Plan Alteration Cases)

  • As an emerging market in central Asia, Kazakhstan's housing market is witnessing increasing demands. Though Korean construction industries have attempted to take advantage of this opportunity, inadequate understanding of the local living demands have kept the industries from successfully establishing themselves in the foreign context. The goal of this research is to derive architectural planning implications regarding the living demands by investigating changes being made to the housing structure. By analyzing 11 apartment unit plans, it was found that Kazakhs had a living demand for more spacious living rooms and functional spaces. In the effort to improve the livingroom environment and usability such as enlarging the livingroom, removing the living room wall for open space or expanding the inner space facing outside is understood that the living room is considered as an important space. The fact that spaces such as dress rooms and utility rooms are being added in the housing market, reflects the demand of functional spaces. These demands are considered as the reflection of the traditional life style of nomad culture and the cold local climate. Therefore, it can be said that the apartment unit plans distributed in the Korean housing market are quite compatible with the Kazakh housing market since they offer spatious living rooms, while the latter founding implies the changes that ought to be made for a successful establishment in the foreign market.

실측데이터를 이용한 에너지제로주택의 연간 에너지성능평가 (Annual Energy Performance Evaluation of Zero Energy House Using Metering Data)

  • Purpose: In this study, we evaluate the annual energy performance of the detached house which was designed with the aim of zero energy. Method: The experimental house which was constructed in Gonju Chungnam in 2013, is the single family detached house of light weight wood frame with $100m^2$ of heating area. Thermal transmittance of roof (by ISO 10211) and building external walls are designed as $0.10W/m^2K$ and $0.14W/m^2$ respectively and low-e coating vacuum window glazing with PVC frame was installed. Also grid connected PV system and natural-circulation solar water heater was applied and 6kWp capacity of photovoltaic module was installed in pitched roof and $5m^2$ of solar collector in vertical wall facing the south. We analyzed the 2014 annual data of the detached house in which residents were actually living, measured though web-based remote monitoring system. Result: First, as a result, total annual energy consumption and energy production (PV generation and solar hot water) are 7,919kWh and 7,689kWh respectively and the rate of energy independence is 97.1% which is almost close to the zero energy. Second, plug load and hot water of energy consumption by category showed the highest numbers each with 33% and 31%, with following space heating 24%, electric cooker 8%, lighting 3% in order. Hot water supply is relatively higher than space heating because high insulation makes it decreased.

띠형 강보강재에 설치된 수동저항부재의 설치 특성에 따른 상호간섭계수 평가 (Evaluation on Degree of Interference Based on Installation Characteristics of Transverse Members Installed in Steel Strip Reinforcement)

  • 본 연구에서는 띠형 강보강재에 '${\sqcap}$' 형태의 수동저항부재를 설치하는 보강재에 대한 인발시험 결과를 바탕으로 수동저항부재의 간격 및 설치위치에 따른 간섭효과를 분석하였다. 수동저항부재에서 발현되는 최대수동저항력은 수동저항부재의 설치 위치에 따라 차이가 발생하였으며, 전면벽체에 근접하여 설치된 수동저항부재에서 더 큰 수동저항력이 발현되는 것을 확인하였다. 최대인발력을 사용하여 간섭계수(DI)를 평가한 결과, 지지부재 직경과 간격의 비(S/B)가 동일한 경우에는 수동저항부재의 설치 위치에 따른 인발력 차이를 반영하지 못하는 것으로 평가되었다. 그러나 최대수동저항력을 사용하여 간섭계수(F)를 산정할 경우에는 수동저항부재의 설치 간격뿐만 아니라, 수동저항부재의 설치 위치에 따른 최대수동저항력 차이를 반영하는 것으로 분석되었다.

  • It is proposed to raise the debate on Engineering and Technical Education at the global economic level and to examine some of the issues facing developing and poorer countries in managing and improving the quality of engineering education in their countries, especially in the context of internet and IT culture After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the world is now divided in two realigned blocks: one of developed(rich or advanced) countries which have a social security safety net for their population and another of developing(or poor) countries which have no such luxuries for their population. For the general public in the developing countries, any engineering or technical degree/diploma is a passport to lifelong wellbeing of an individual and his/her extended family. Therefore, the demand for such qualifications is very high and it is almost a rat race amongst school leavers to get into engineering/technical colleges. In view of this booming demand, there are hundreds of privately funded engineering/technical colleges in countries like Philippines, India, Thailand, etc., besides state funded ones. It is extremely difficult to ensure good quality in this mushrooming scenario. There are also many very small poorly resourced developing countries where there is only one engineering school and/or two-three technical colleges. Products of these schools/colleges work only in their own country and education globalization have little or no meaning for them. Besides highlighting the aforementioned general issues, the Paper also presents a few case studies on problems of accreditation and quality assessment in larger developing countries like India and the Philippines. The Paper also discusses the effects of commercialization on the quality of education and social impacts of IT revolution on educational processes.

Isolation of Amylolytic Bifidobacterium sp. Int-57 and Characterization of Amylase

  • The intestinal microflora of humans is an extraordinarily complex mixture of microorganisms, the majority of which are anaerobic microorganisms. The distribution of amylolytic microorganisms in the human large intestinal tract was investigated in various individuals of differing ages using anaerobic culture techniques. A large percentage of the amylolytic microorganisms present belonged to the Genus Bifidobacteria. The number of Bifidobacteria increased significantly at two years of age. Adults and children above 2 years old carried about $0.8{\times}10^9-2.0{\times}10^{10}$ colony forming units (CFU/gram) of amylolytic Bifidobacteria. Among these amylolytic Bifidobacteria, Int-57 was chosen for further studies. Between 65% and 85% of the amylase produced was secreted and the remaining amylase was bound to the cell wall facing the outside. Amylase production could be induced by starch in a stable form. When cells were grown on maltose or glucose, amylase production was much lower than on starch and amylase activity disappeared after 24 hours growth on these media. Partially purified enzymes showed optimum activity at a temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ and at an optimum pH of 5.5, respectively. Heat treatment at $70^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes almost completely inactivated amylase. The hydrolysis products of starch were mainly maltose and maltotriose. Soluble starch, amylose, amylopectin, and $\gamma$-cyclodextrin($\gamma$-CD) were easily hydrolyzed. The rate of hydrolysis of $\alpha$-CD and $\beta$-CD was slower than that of $\gamma$-CD. Carboxymethyl cellulose, $\beta$-1, 3-glucan and inulin were not hydrolyzed.

Mock-up을 이용한 일반창호 및 경사형 광선반 창호의 채광성능에 관한 비교 실험 (Comparative Daylighting Performance of an Interior with Lightshelves and Conventional Glazing; A Mock-Up Experiment)

  • As sustainable design technologies, advanced daylighting systems with lightshelves have been developed and are currently under monitoring the daylighting performance. This study aims to evaluate the comparative daylighting performance of sloped lightshelf and conventional glazing window with mock-up model, reconstructed as a prototype of Korean office building, sized $12.0m{\times}7.3m{\times}3.7m$ ($w{\times}d{\times}h$) and $1.8m{\times}4.8m$($w{\times}h$) for the south facing side-window was installed on the rooftop of engineering building, Kyung Hee University in Korea. It has an identical configuration of reference room and the test room. For the test room, the sloped type lightshelf system was designed as 10mm transparency sheet glass, tilt angle degree $29^{\circ}$, and total sized 1.28m (interior length 0.88m, exterior length 0.49m). It consisted of daylighting collector, entrance glazing and reflector. To assess daylighting performance, the totally 37 measuring points for illuminance and 2 view points of luminance were monitored in every 30 minutes from 12:00 to 15:00. For the detailed analysis, photometric sensors of each room were installed at work-plane (8 points), wall (7 points), ceiling (3points), and exterior horizontal illuminance (1 point). Luminance of window, rare of the room was measured under clear sky. It is to be monitored by Agilent data logger, photometric sensor Li-cor and the Radiant Imaging ProMetric 1400. Comparisons with a light factor, increase-decrease ratio, uniformity, and luminance are discussed.

띠형 섬유보강재의 크리프 특성 평가 (Assessments of Creep Properties of Strip Type fiber Reinforcement)

  • 국내에 보강토 옹벽이 도입된지 20여 년이 다 되어가고, 많은 구조물들이 시공되었다. 특히, 콘크리트 패널식 전면체와 섬유보강재를 적용하는 시스템은 국내에 가장 널리 알려진 공법이다. 이 공법의 섬유보강재는 고강도 폴리에스테르 섬유와 LDPE 피복층을 갖는 구조를 가지고 있으며, 섬유보강재를 이용한 설계에서는 몇가지 합리적이지 못한 부분이 존재해 왔다. 설계인자의 결정이 선행된 외국데이터를 기준으로 하여 간접적인 방법에 의해 이루어졌으며 보강재의 장기크리프 거동에 대해서도 마찬가지로 인용된 자료를 이용하여 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실내시험을 통하여 직접적으로 섬유보강재의 설계인자를 도출하고자 하였으며, 그 결과, 설계연한동안 예상되는 크리프 허용강도는 최대파단강도의 약 60%였으며 크리프 감소계수는 1.67로 나타났다.

아파트 단위 세대의 수직 위치 별 에너지 및 물 사용 규모와 패턴에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Energy and Water Consumption and their Patterns as Vertical Locations of Apartment Housing Units)

  • The purpose of this study is to present an integrated analysis for energy use and its patterns as vertical locations of the dwelling units in apartment buildings which are located in an urban area and constructed by a renowned contractor. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the method, the original data of electricity, water, and gas bills which directly reflect the energy use are sorted and analyzed into several groups as vertical locations in each building. And also, by use of comparing and contrasting the data on a monthly and yearly basis, the accuracy of analyses for seasonal energy use and its patterns is strengthened. Comparative analyses used in this study describe the results that vertical locations of dwelling units do not have much influence on electricity and water usage, but are closely related with gas usage for a heating season. According to the analysis of gas usage, the units on the ground and right above pilotis need enhancement in the insulations for heating to mitigate energy loss. Also, the analysis for the middle floor units in each group describe the fact that the gas usage of the units on the ground is consumes 1.5 times greater than that of the typical floors. Therefore, enhanced insulation strategies need to be considered against the adverse condition that the heat loss increases as the wall facing the outside air increases or as the wind velocity increases through the pilotis.

벽체일체형 자연순환 태양열온수기의 동적거동과 열성능에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Thermal Performance and Dynamic Behavior of Wall Integrated Thermosiphon Solar Water Heater)

  • In this study, the evaluation of the dynamic behavior and thermal performance of the "Façade integrated Natural circulation Solar Water Heating System" installed in the residential house was carried out. Experimental tests were performed during the all year around in the rural houses of $166m^2$ in size. Facade integrated solar collector of $5m^2$ were installed on the south-facing. Electrical heater of 1 kW capacity as an auxiliary heater was installed at the upper part of the heat storage tank. The analyzing results are as follows. (1) Monthly average solar fraction was 51 to 87% and yearly average value is 64%. (2) Hot water supply temperature in December which has the lowest solar altitude is 37 to $76^{\circ}C$. The highest working fluid temperature of solar collector in this period was below $84^{\circ}C$. The temperature difference of working fluid between the collector inlet and outlet has been shown to be around 9 to $26^{\circ}C$. (3) Overheating which is one of the biggest problems during summer did not appear at all, but rather had hot water supply temperature is rather low as $30{\sim}47^{\circ}C$ in summer than winter, which is supplied by a small solar load. The solar collecting temperature has been shown to maintain below $55^{\circ}C$. (5) The thermal performance of Facade integrated solar collector can be increase due to the reduction of heat loss to the back of the collector wall integration of the collector is reduced. As a conclusion, Facade integrated natural circulation type Solar Water Heating System is a well-functioning without any pumps or controllers, and it was found that the disadvantages of conventional solar water heaters, hot water or hot water system can be greatly improved.
