  • Recently, with the development of ICT technology such as cloud and mobile, image utilization through social networks is increasing rapidly. These images contain personal information, and personal information leakage accidents may occur. As a result, studies are underway to recognize and mask personal information in images. However, optical character recognition, which recognizes personal information in images, varies greatly depending on brightness, contrast, and distortion, and Korean recognition is insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement a personal information identification and masking system based on image recognition through deep learning application using CNN algorithm based on optical character recognition method. Also, the proposed system and optical character recognition compares and evaluates the recognition rate of personal information on the same image and measures the face recognition rate of the proposed system. Test results show that the recognition rate of personal information in the proposed system is 32.7% higher than that of optical character recognition and the face recognition rate is 86.6%.

  • In order to ensure safety to invasion of privacy, Federated Learning(FL) that learns using parameters is emerging. However a paper that leaks training data using gradients was recently published. Our paper implements an experiment to leak training data using gradients in a federated learning environment, and proposes a method to improve reconstruction performance by improving existing attacks that leak training data. Experiments using Yale face database B, MNIST dataset on the proposed method show that federated learning is not safe from invasion of privacy by reconstructing up to 100 data out of 100 training data when performance of federated learning is high at accuracy=99~100%. In addition, by comparing the performance (MSE, PSNR, SSIM) of pixels and the performance of identification by Human Test, we want to emphasize the importance of the performance of identification rather than the performance of pixels.

  • The aim of this paper is the improvement of identification performance and the reduction of computational quantities in the face recognition system based on SIFT-Grid. Firstly, we propose a composition method of integrated template by removing similar SIFT keypoints and blending different keypoints in variety training images of one face class. The integrated template is made up of computation of similarity matrix and threshold-based histogram from keypoints in a same sub-region which divided by applying SIFT-Grid of training images. Secondly, we propose a computation method of similarity for identify of test image from composed integrated templates efficiently. The computation of similarity is performed that a test image to compare one-on-one with the integrated template of each face class. Then, a similarity score and a threshold-voting score calculates according to each sub-region. In the experimental results of face recognition tasks, the proposed methods is founded to be more accurate than both two other methods based on SIFT-Grid, also the computational quantities are reduce.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop highly valued fashion cultural items using Korean face and human images to enhance global competition. The methods of this study include: historical study on the face/human images which appear on the dress; design by stage according to Lamb & Kallal's apparel design process; development of products using digital textile printing technology; and case study by objective evaluation through Grant's alpha-beta model. The procedure and the results of this study are as follows: First, in the problem identification stage, the need to develop fashion cultural products of Korean face/human images which are symbolic, aesthetic, and functional was recognized in order to enhance global competition. Second, in the preliminary idea stage, the fashion cultural products and the components that meet the above 3 standards for design were determined and first design was drawn up. The source of the design was extrapolated from face/human images, which appeared on the murals of the ancient Korea, the portraits and custom paintings from the Chosun Dynasty. From these images, a total of 7 design series of T-shirts with an "ULGUL" logo, scarves, and artwalls were developed using "obangsaek" which are five Korean traditional colors including red, blue, black. white, and yellow on cottons and silks. Third, in the design refinement stage, based on the preference survey, more varying design methods were used to develop 25 new designs. Fourth, in prototype development stage, based on the preference survey conducted on fashion professionals and general public from the previous stage, which showed preference for T-shirts and scarves, 3 designs on T-shirts and 2 designs on scarves were printed and produced using the DTP (Digital Textile Printing). Fifth, in the evaluation stage, Grant's alpha-beta model was used to perform comparative evaluation on the symbolic, aesthetic, and functional criteria of the new designs over the existing ones. The new designs received excellent results in all three criteria and a special recognition was given to symbolism of the new designs.

  • Face recognition technique is very popular for a personal information security and user identification in recent years. However, the face recognition system is very hard to be implemented due to the difficulty where change in illumination, pose and facial expression. In this paper, we consider that an illumination change causing the variety of face appearance, virtual image data is generated and added to the D-LDA which was selected as the most suitable feature extractor. A less sensitive recognition system in illumination is represented in this paper. This way that consider nature of several illumination directions generate the virtual training image data that considered an illumination effect of the directions and the change of illumination density. As result of experiences, D-LDA has a less sensitive property in an illumination through ORL, Yale University and Pohang University face database.

  • Recently there is sharply increasing interest in watching and creating video contents such as YouTube. However, creating such video contents without privacy protection technique can expose other people in the background in public, which is consequently violating their privacy rights. This paper seeks to remedy these problems and proposes a technique that identifies faces and protecting portrait rights by blurring the face. The key contribution of this paper lies on our deep-learning technique with low detection error and high computation that allow to protect portrait rights in real-time videos. To reduce errors, an efficient tracking algorithm was used in this system with face detection and face recognition algorithm. This paper compares the performance of the proposed system with and without the tracking algorithm. We believe this system can be used wherever the video is used.

  • With the widespread use of vision-based surveillance systems, the capability for person identification is now an essential component. However, the CCTV cameras used in surveillance systems tend to produce relatively low-resolution images, making it difficult to use face recognition techniques for person identification. Therefore, an algorithm is proposed for person identification in CCTV camera images based on the clothing. Whenever a person is authenticated at the main entrance of a building, the clothing feature of that person is extracted and added to the database. Using a given image, the clothing area is detected using background subtraction and skin color detection techniques. The clothing feature vector is then composed of textural and color features of the clothing region, where the textural feature is extracted based on a local edge histogram, while the color feature is extracted using octree-based quantization of a color map. When given a query image, the person can then be identified by finding the most similar clothing feature from the database, where the Euclidean distance is used as the similarity measure. Experimental results show an 80% success rate for person identification with the proposed algorithm, and only a 43% success rate when using face recognition.

  • In this paper, we propose a character-based summarization algorithm using speaker identification method from the dialog in video. First, we extract the dialog of shots containing characters' face and then, classify the scene according to actor/actress by performing speaker identification. The classifier is based on the GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) using the 24 values of MFCC(Mel Frequency Cepstrum Coefficient). GMM is trained to recognize one actor/actress among four who are all trained by GMM. Our experiment result shows that GMM classifier obtains the error rate of 0.138 from our video data.

  • Fear of contact exists due to the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. When using the common entrance door of an apartment, access is possible only if the resident enters a password or obtains the resident's permission. There is the inconvenience of having to manually enter the number and password for the common entrance door to enter. Also, contactless entry is required due to COVID-19. Due to the development of ICT, users can be easily identified through the development of face recognition and voice recognition technology. The proposed method detects a visitor's face through a CCTV or camera attached to the common entrance door, recognizes the face, and identifies it as a registered resident. Then, based on the registered information of the resident, it is possible to operate without contact by interworking with the elevator on the server. In particular, if face recognition fails with a hat or mask, the visitor is identified by voice or additional authentication of the visitor is performed based on the voice message. It is possible to block the spread of contagiousness without leaving any contactless function and fingerprint information when entering and exiting the front door of an apartment house, and without the inconvenience of access.
