Comparison of Learning Attitudes, Class Satisfaction and Self-regulated Learning Ability in Face-to-face and Non-face-to-face Classes of College Physical Therapy Students (전문대학교 물리치료과 학생의 대면수업과 비대면 수업의 수업태도, 수업 만족도 및 자기조절학습능력의 비교)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to comparison of learning attitude, class satisfaction, and self-regulated learning ability of face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes in college physical therapy students to improve the educational effect and quality of non-face-to-face classes when face-to-face classes such as COVID-19 become inevitable in the future. Design: Cross-section study. Methods: This study was conducted with 91 college students, 3rd year students of physical therapy department at a community college in 'A' region, Gyeongsangbuk-do, who took face-to-face classes in the first semester of 2022 and non-face-to-face classes in 2021 of the previous semester. Results: Class attitude was higher in face-to-face classes than in non-face-to-face classes. There was a significant difference in class satisfaction between face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes, In self-regulated learning ability, face-to-face classes had a more positive effect on self-regulated learning ability than non-face-to-face classes. Conclusion: This study serves as empirical basic data on the actual condition of non-face-to-face classes compared to face-to-face classes for college physical therapy students, suggests the direction of future research, and improves the quality of non-face-to-face classes in the field of physical therapy, which requires a lot of practice. and hope it will be used for development.

  • In this paper, we propose the face recognition system using the neural network. A difficult procedure in constructing the entire recognition systems is the feature extraction from the face imga. And a key poing is the design of the matching function that relates the set of feature values to the appropriate face candidates. We use the length and angle values as feature values that are extracted from the face image normalized to the range of [0,1]. These features values are applied to the input layer of the neural network. Then, these multi-layered perceptron learns or gives otput result.   • A mechanical face seal is a tribo-element intended to control leakage of working fluid at the interface of a rotating shaft and its housing. Leakage of working fluid decreases drastically as the clearance between mating seal faces gets smaller. But the very small clearance may result in an increased reduction of seal life because of high wear and heat generation. Therefore, in the design of mechanical face seals a compromise between low leakage and acceptable seal life is important, ant it present a difficult and practical design problem. A fluid film or sealing dam geometry of the seal clearance affects seal lubrication performance very much, and thereby is optimization is one of the main design consideration. in this study the Reynolds equation for the sealing dam of mechanical face seals is numerically analyzed, using the Galerkin finite element method, which is readily applied to various seal geometries, to give lubrication performances, such as opening force, restoring moment, leakage, and axial and angular stiffness coefficients. Then, to improve the seal performance an optimization is performed, considering various design variables simultaneously. For the tested case the optimization ha successfully resulted in the optimal design values of outer and inner seal radii, coning, seal clearance, and balance radius while satisfying all the operation subjected constraints and design variable side-constraints, and improvements of axial and angular stiffness coefficients by 16.8% and 2.4% respectively and reduction of leakage by 38.4% have been achieved.

Influence of Design Variables on Failure Loads of Sandwich Beam (설계변수에 대한 샌드위치 보의 파손하중)

  • Sandwich structures have been widely used in the applications of vessel industry, where high structural stiffness is required with small addition of weight. It is so significant to think of the effect of the variables in the design process of the sandwich structure for the concentrated loads. This paper describes the influence of design variables, such as core density, core thickness and face thickness ratio, on the strength of sandwich beam. The theoretical failure loads based on the 2-D elasticity theory agree well with the experimental yield or failure loads, which are measured at the three point bending laboratory test using AS4/3501-6 facing and polyurethane foam core sandwich beam. The comparison of those yield or failure loads was also done with the ratio of the top to bottom face thickness. The theoretical optimum condition is obtained by finding the intersection point of failure modes involved, which gives optimum core density of the sandwich beam for strength and stiffness. In the addition, the effect of unequal face thickness for the optimized and off-optimized sandwich beams for the strength was compared with the ratio of loading length to beam length, and the variations of strength and stiffness were discussed with the relative ratio of core to face mass.

  • This study aims to identify problems with existing e-learning content and non-face-to-face class methods, improve students' concentration, improve class achievement and educational effectiveness, and propose an artificial intelligence class system design using a web server. By using the function of face and eye tracking using OpenCV to identify attendance and concentration, and by inducing feedback through voice or message to questions asked by the instructor in the middle of class, learners relieve boredom caused by online classes and test by runner If the score is not reached, we propose an artificial intelligence education program system design that can bridge the academic gap and improve academic achievement by providing educational materials and videos for the wrong problem.

  • Face recognition technology has lately attracted considerable attention because of its non-intrusiveness, usability and applicability. Related companies insist that their commercial products show the recognition rates more than 95% according to their self-testing. But, the rates cannot be admitted as official recognition rates. So, performance evaluation methods and tools are necessary to objectively measure the accuracy and performance of face recognition systems. In this paper, I propose a reference model for biometrics recognition evaluation tools, and implement an evaluation tool for the face recognition system based on the proposed reference model.

Development of Mechanical Face Seal in 75-tonf Turbopump for Leakage Reduction (누설 저감을 위한 75톤급 터보펌프 개량형 미케니컬 페이스실 개발)

  • In this paper, we present an experimental investigation of the leakage and endurance performances of mechanical face seals in a 75-tonf turbopump for the Korea Space Launch Vehicle II first-stage engine. A mechanical face seal is used between the fuel pump and turbine to prevent mixing of the fuel and turbine gas. However, excessive leakage occurs through the carbon attached to the mechanical face seal bellows. To reduce this leakage, we redesign the mechanical face seal such that the contact area between the fuel and carbon is reduced, height of the carbon nose is reduced, and stiffness of the bellows is increased. Then, we conduct static and dynamic leakage tests and endurance tests to compare the performances of the original and modified mechanical face seals. The investigation of the leakage of the old and new mechanical face seals confirms that the leakage performance is significantly improved, by 80%, in the new design in comparison with the old design. The endurance tests demonstrate that the average wear rate of carbon in the new mechanical face seal is 0.1094 ㎛/s. The service lifetime is predicted to be 4,200 s, which is 28 times greater than the requirement. Finally, we present a new mechanical face seal in a 75-tonf turbopump, and perform a validation test in the real-propellant test facility at the NARO Space Center. Based on the test results, we can confirm that the modified mechanical face seal works well under real operating conditions.

Study on the Seepage Forces Acting on the Tunnel Face with the Consideration of Tunnel Advance Rate (터널 굴진율을 고려한 막장에서의 침투력에 관한 연구)

  • The stability of a tunnel face is one of the most important factors in tunnel excavation. Especially, if a tunnel is located under groundwater level, groundwater may flow into the tunnel face and seepage forces acting on the tunnel face due to groundwater flow may affect seriously the stability of the tunnel face. Therefore, the seepage pressure at the tunnel face should be considered fir the proper design and safe construction of a tunnel. In this paper, the effect of tunnel advance rate on the seepage forces acting on the tunnel face was studied. The finite element program to analyze the groundwater flow around a tunnel with the consideration of tunnel advance rate was developed. Using the program, the parametric study for the effect of the tunnel advance rate and hydraulic characteristics of the ground on the seepage forces acting on the tunnel face was made. From this study, it was concluded that the tunnel advance rate must betaken into consideration as an additional parameter to assess the seepage forces at the tunnel face and a rational design methodology fer the assessment of support pressures required for maintaining the stability of the tunnel face was suggested for undetwater tunnels.

Behavior of Tunnel Face Reinforced with Horizontal Pipes (수평보강재로 보강된 터널 막장의 거동)

  • This paper presents the results of a parametric study on the behavior of tunnel face reinforced with horizontal pipes. A three-dimensional finite element model was adopted in this study to capture the three-dimensional nature of tunnel face behavior under various boundary conditions. A parametric study was peformed on a wide range of boundary conditions with emphasis on the effect of reinforcing layouts on the deformation behavior of tunnel face. The results of analysis such as tunnel face deformation behavior under various conditions were thoroughly analyzed, and a database for the behavior of tunnel face under different reinforcing conditions was established for future development of a semi-empirical design/analysis method for the tunnel face reinforcing technique. The results indicated that there exits an optimum reinforcing layout for a given tunnel condition, which must be selected with due consideration of tunnel geometry and ground condition.
