  • The accidnet of breaking insulator rod leads to inturruption of moving the subway. We investigate the analysis of analysis of breaking accident of FRP insulator rod installed in dead section for catenary feeding system. To analysis of accident reason, SEM is used to analysis microscopic struture on surface of cross section of broken FRP insulator rod. At the same time, we examine the chage of atomic amount on solace of accident insulator through EDX analysis. Also, the test for tensional breaking load is condoled to check the mechanical strength.

  • FRP has been used much for core materials of insulator. FRP consists of fiber and plastics(resin and binder). The fiber contributes strength to FRP. The fiber orientation in FRP has a great effect on the strength of FRP because the strength of FRP mainly depends on the strength of fiber. The direction of applied stress of FRP is different from the kinds of insulators. In this study, inner part of FRP rod was made unidirectionally by pultrusion method and outer part of FRP rod was made by filament winding method. Compressive strength and stress of FRP rods were simulated according to the winding orientation of glass fiber. Simulated value and real evaluated compressive strength were compared each other.

  • Inner part of FRP specimen was made unidirectionally by pultrusion method and outer part of FRP was made by filament winding method to study the effect of fiber orientatons on the strength of FRP. The strength of bending and compression was simulated and evaluated. The results of simulated strength and evaluated strength were different greately each other. The stress which affect the feature of FRP was simulated to investigate the difference of the results between simulation and evaluation Shear stresses were investigated to the main stress to affect the fracture of FRP.

  • FRP has been used very much as high strength and electrical insulation materials. The fiber contributes the high strength and modulus to the composite. The main roles of the matrix in composite materials like FRP are to transmit and distribute stresses among the individual fibers. The fiber orientation in FRP has a great effect on the strength of FRP because the strength of FRP mainly depends on the strength of fiber. In this study, compressive and bending stresses of FRP rods were simulated and measured according to the winding orientation of glass fiber. Inner part of FRP was made unidirectionally by pultrusion method and outer part of FRP was made by filament winding method to give fiber orientation to the FRP. The shear stresses had great effect on the strength of FRP although the stress of parallel direction of FRP was much higher. The tendency of compressive and bending strengths with glass fiber orientation was different each other.

  • Polymeric suspended insulators for the electric track line have been developed. The main elements to design polymeric insulators are the insulation ability related with materials of FRP core and housing, and the optimal structure related with fitting parts and interface characteristics. To confirm the design fitness of insulator samples the electric field distribution by FEM and mechanical stress distribution by NASTRAN program was analysed with housing shed shapes and fitting structure. The leakage distance and breakage voltage properties which are core parameters to determine electric insulation ability are selected according to the requirement values of user specification, then the power frequency wet withstand voltage was specified above 22kV and the leakage distance was required above 290mm. The contamination condition of the electric track line was the heavy class according to IEC 815 in order to retain the enough safety margin against overvoltages.
