Development of the Hybrid CFFT Pile (FRP-콘크리트 합성말뚝의 개발)

  • In this paper, new type CFFT (Concrete Filled FRP Tube) was suggested in order to improve the flexural stiffness. Since the existing CFFT was produced by filament winding process, re-bar for concrete may be necessary in order to ensure structural safety under flexure re-bar. In comparison with existing type CFFT, new type CFFT was reinforced by circular shaped pultrusion FRP without re-bar. Filament winding FRP was attached to the outer layer of pultrusion FRP. Structural behavior of new type CFFT filled with concrete (HCFFT) was investigated by the mechanical property test for the component element and the FE analysis. Furthermore, compressive strength of the HCFFT member based on the equation suggested in previous studies.

A Study on the Preparation and Mechanical Properties of Hybrid Composites Reinforced Waste FRP and Urethane Foam (폐 FRP/Urethane Foam 충진 혼성복합재의 제조 및 기계적 물성에 관한 연구)

  • The waste FRP occured in the fabrication of SMC (sheet molding compound) bathtubs and the waste polyurethane foam occured in electronic manufacture and waste insulator were applied as a soundproof and light weight pannel in the waste FRP unsaturated polyester matrix resin composites to recycle. The effect of filler contents on the mechanical properties and interfacial phenomena of the filler and matrix on the composites was evaluated. The tensile strength of composites reached its maximum value of 82.34 MPa when the filler content was 70 wt%, and the more content of reinforcement is increased, the more tensile modulus was decreased. The flexural strength and modulus of composites, reinforced 70 wt% with filler content, were dominant compared to the other samples to 72.5 MPa, 958.4 MPa respectively. When composite of reinforced 70 wt% with filler content, it was confirmed that pull out phenomena and cracks did not occur in the interface of reinforcement and matrix resin through the SEM observation. Also, waste FRP and urethane foam were dispersed well into matrix resin as filler.

A Study on the Preparation ana Mechanical Properties of Composites Reinforced FRP Waste and Rock-Crush Sludge (폐 FRP/석분슬러지 충전 복합재의 제조 및 기계적 물성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to recyle the FRP waste from SMC bathtubs and rock-crush sludge obtained as a byproduct of stones, the composite consisting of the FRP and rock-crush sludge and the unsaturated polyester matrix resin were prepared. To enhance the interfacial bonding force between the reinforcements and the matrix resin, the rock-crush sludge was treated with silane coupling agent, ${\gamma}$-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (${\gamma}$-MPS) and their mechanical properties and interface phenomena were examined. The flexural modulus of the composite containing 10 wt% rock-crush powder treated with 3 wt% silane coupling agent showed the maximum value. And also the initial thermal degradation temperature of composites were in the range of 352~359$^{\circ}C$. From these results, we observed that the weight loss of composites was almost constant regardless of the concentration of silane coupling agent. It is confirmed that the interface of the composites containing filler treated with ${\gamma}$-MPS was improved in that there were no pull-out phenomena between the reinforcement and matrix resin.

Ductile Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams by Partially Unbonded NSM Hybrid FRP Rebars (부분 비부착 NSM Hybrid FRP 보강근에 의한 철근콘크리트보의 연성보강)

  • New strengthening method based on Near Surface Mounted technique (NSM) is suggested, which can overcome the brittle nature of failure inherent to those reinforced concrete beams strengthened with FRP composite materials. The suggested technique secures ductile failure of reinforced concrete beams by having the strengthening Hybrid FRP rebars unbonded in parts. Experiments were performed in order to compare structural behaviors of strengthened beams with and without unbending along the Hybrid FRP rebars. Test results showed that only those beams strengthened by partially unbonded NSM failed in ductile manner. Theoretical expressions were derived for the minimum unbonded length of Hybrid FRP rebars with which ultimate strength of the reinforced concrete beam with partially unbonded NSM could be reached. The suggested partially unbonded NSM technique is expected to significantly improve the structural behavior of the strengthened beam with FRP composite materials.

Effect of Coupling Agent(3-methylacryloxyviny1silane) on the Mechanical Properties of wasfeaste FRP/Unsaturated Polyester Composites (폐 FRP/불포화 폴리에스테르 수지 복합재의 기계적 물성에 미치는 실란계 커플링제 (3-methylacryloxyvinyl silane) 영향)

  • SMC(Sheet molding compound)욕조 생산시 발생하는 폐 FRP를 보강재로서 재활용하기 위하여 불포화 폴리에스테르 매트릭스 수지에 보강하고 보강재와 매트릭스 수지의 계면 결합력을 증진시키기 위하여 보강재를 실란계 커플링제[3-methylacryloxyviny1 silane (MAOS)]로 전 처리하여 복합재를 제조하고 기계적 물성 및 계면현사에 대하여 관찰하였다. 보강률이 20wt%인 복합재의 굴곡강도 및 굴곡탄성률이 각 각 110MPa, 8.0GPa로 가장 우수하였으며 커플링제(MAOS)의 노동가 0.50wt%인 복합재의 굴곡강도 및 굴곡탄성률은 약 10%정도 향상되어 각 각 120MPa, 9.2GPa을 나타내었다. 또한 주사전자현미경 관찰 결과 보강재를 커플링제(MAOS)로 처리한 복합재의 보강재와 매트릭스 수지는 물리, 화학적을 잘 결합하여 보강재와 매트릭스 수지의 계면에서 pull out현상이 확인되지 않았으며 크랙도 발생하지 않았다.

  • Using pultrusion process, FRP composite structural members having various cross-section shapes can be produced with unlimited lengths. Because of such reasons, these members are suitable for the application in the construction field. Especially, this material is highly appreciated if the material is to be used in the corrosive environments such as aquatic or oceanic environments due to its high corrosion resistance. However, design criteria for the FRP structural member are not developed yet. So, the research on the development of design guideline is needed ungently. In order to use the pultruded structural FRP member efficiently, the members are composed of thin plate components, and thus, the member is prone to buckle easily and the buckling is one of the governing strength limit states for the design. In this paper, we present the analytical study results pertaining to the buckling behavior of I-shape FRP compression member. In addition, design procedure and flow-chart are also proposed based on the study results including previous experimental results. Proposed design procedure is similar to that in ANSI/AISC 360-10 with minor modification. Therefore, it is convinced that the structural design of pultruded FRP compression member could be done easily by following design procedure proposed in this paper.

Development of Ultrasonic Defect Analysis Program for a Composite Motor Case (복합재 연소관의 초음파 결함 분석 프로그램 개발)

  • A defect analysis program for a composite motor case was developed to apply the ultrasonic signal processing method, based on the ultrasonic pulse-echo method. With the proposed defect analysis program, defects of FRP delamination and FRP/Rubber disbond in the composite motor case could be quantitatively measured. The defects detected in the composite motor case were in good agreement with the results measured with the computed tomography and video microscope. This paper described the development process of the defect analysis program to convert the ultrasonic test data into the C-Scan images.

  • Utilization of fiber reinforced polymer(FRP) material has been increased to solve construction material problems such as corrosion, etc. However, there are still many problems in using a linear-shaped FRP material for a tunnel structure with curved section. In this study, the loading tests were performed on the curved FRP-concrete composite material to evaluate its behavior as tunnel support. These tests were based on the result from preliminary numerical analysis on FRP-concrete composite material. Also, additional numerical analysis considering interface characteristics between FRP and cement-concrete was conducted to compare the result of loading test on FRP-concrete composite material. From the results of the loading test and numerical analysis, the analysis method suggested from this study is reasonable to evaluate the mechanical behavior of FRP-concrete composite material.

탐촉자의 접촉방식에 따른 복합재 연소관의 초음파탐상 기법 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 초음파 탐촉자의 접촉방식을 다양화하여 Immersion법/Bubbler법/Squirtor법으로 복합재 연소관을 탐상하는 방법에 대하여 연구하였으며, 이를 위하여 FRP의 delamination, FRP-EPDM간의 미접착을 모사한 복합재 연소관 모의결함시편을 제작하여 시험하였다. Immersion법에서는 일반적으로 사용되는 방법을 적용하였으며 Bubbler 및 Squirter법에서는 자체적으로 설계 및 제작한 치구를 이용하여 시험하였다. 이들 각 방법에 대하여 복합재 연소관 모의결함 시편의 결함부위에 대한 초음파 신호를 A-scan으로 비교하고 또한 C-scan하여 결함의 검출 정도를 비교하였다. 그리고 시험 자료를 바탕으로 데이터 값을 분석함으로써 복합재 연소관에서의 초음파 속도, 음향 임피던스, 반사율 및 투과율 등 복합재료의 초음파 특성을 산출하였으며 또한 건전신호와 결함신호에 대한 분류기준을 제시하였다.

  • This paper presents the design, fabrication and performance of a reinforced concrete beam strengthened by GFRP box plate and its possibility for structural rehabilitations. The load capacity, ductility and failure mode of reinforced concrete structures strengthened by FRP box plate were investigated and compared with traditional FRP plate strengthening method. This is intended to assess the feasibility of using FRP box plate for repair and strengthening of damaged RC beams. A series of four-point bending tests were conducted on RC beams with or without strengthening FRP systems the influence of concrete cover thickness on the performance of overall stiffness of the structure. The parameters obtained by the experimental studies were the stiffness, strength, crack width and pattern, failure mode, respectively. The test yielded complete load-deflection curves from which the increase in load capacity and the failure mode was evaluated.
