  • In this paper, we intend to develop a cart with the convenience of moving objects or items that are difficult to hold by the hand of the disabled and the elderly from outdoor activities to a moving location. Using GPS module, DC motor, Bluetooth module, magnetometer sensor, and Blynk application, the smart follow cart was programmed to accurately know the owner's location while following the cart. The values of latitude and longitude of the magnetometer sensor are set so that the correct leverage value can be obtained in the lead for fine adjustment of the start and stop angles so that the user's position can be freely detected. The above motor driver L298n was connected to the motor to drive the DC motor at a fine angle. A smart follow cart was implemented that receives location signals according to the direction of the owner by turning on/off the mobile phone app as a switching role by connecting the GPS through Bluetooth wireless communication using a smartphone.

  • Purpose: The number of obese patients seeking total hip arthroplasty (THA) continues to expand despite body mass index (BMI) cutoffs. We sought to determine the outcomes of THA in the morbidly obese patient, and hypothesized they would have comparable outcomes to two cohorts of obese, and normal weight patients. Materials and Methods: THA performed on morbidly obese patients (BMI >40 kg/m2) at a single academic center from 2010 until 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Eighty morbidly obese patients were identified, and matched in a 1:3:3 ratio to control cohorts with BMI 30-40 kg/m2 and BMI <30 kg/m2. Acute postoperative outcomes and BMI change after surgery were evaluated for clinical significance with univariate and regression analyses. Cox proportional hazard ratio was calculated to evaluate prosthetic joint infection (PJI) and revision surgery through follow-up. Mean follow-up was 3.9 years. Results: In the acute postoperative period, morbidly obese patients trended towards increased hospital length of stay, facility discharge and 90-day hospital returns. At final follow-up, a higher percentage of morbidly obese patients had clinically significant (>5%) BMI loss; however, this was not significant. Cox hazard ratio with BMI <30 kg/m2 as a reference demonstrated no significant difference in survival to PJI and all-cause revision in the morbidly obese cohort. Conclusion: Morbidly obese patients (BMI >40 kg/m2) require increased resource expenditure in the acute postoperative period. However, they are not inferior to the control cohorts (BMI <30 kg/m2, BMI 30-40 kg/m2) in terms of PJI or all-cause revisions at mid-term follow-up.

  • Quitline activity in Rajasthan, India is a voluntary activity of Rajasthan Cancer Foundation (RCF) since April 2013. To kick-off, it took the benefit of the State Government- PIRAMAL SWASTHYA (PS)1 collaborative 104 Health Information Helpline that existed already in public-private partnership. It is a reactive quitline that helps callers through the counselors and nursing staff trained specifically through the weekly sessions held by the first author, the RCF resource on quitline. Besides structuring of the scripts for primary intervention and follow-ups after 1 week, 1 month, 6 months and a year, he also monitors calls, advices and coordinates with the supervisors to manage and analyze the data base, and reports to the PS lead at the Jaipur Center on overall performance and to plan strategic communication with the State Government on its outcomes. The quitline has limitations of its informal existence through a voluntary effort of RCF, no specific resource allocation, suboptimal data management, minimal awareness in the masses due to poor IEC (Information, Education and Communication; except its efforts made by RCF in last 1 year through the government-run State TV and City Radio) and staff shortage and its attrition due to lack of plan for career advancement. Despite these challenges in the year 2013, the quit line has registered a quit rate (for complete abstinence) of 19.93% amongst 1525 callers. The quit rate were 58.01% (304/ 524) among the responders at the 3rd follow-up at 18 months (in September 2014)2. In view of an increase in quit rate by 5- 9 times over the prevailing quit rate in the former ever daily users [both smokers and the users of smokeless tobacco (SLT)], efforts are being made by RCF in concurrence with PS to have this cost-effective model established formally with optimal resource allocation in collaboration with willing agencies (the State and Central Governments and the International Quitline Agencies) and its replication in 4 more states where PS is collaborating with the respective state governments similarly (Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Karnataka).

  • As the adoption of PACS and hospital information system among university hospitals and hospital level institutions grows bigger, the need of sharing and transferring medical information among medical institutions is rising. For the medical information, which is saved in the hospital medical system, to be transferred within the same hospital, domestic, or foreign medical institutions, a standard protocol is necessary. But realistically, most of the domestic hospitals do not abide by H7L which is the HIS standard and so, information transferring is not possible as of present. As such, the purpose of this research is to implement the information between HIS and PACS to an international standard by constructing HL7 messages through HL7 Interface. which will eventually make possible information transferring between different hospitals. Our research team has developed a method which will make the PACS equip hospitals that do not follow HL7 standard which will make possible to transfer information between HIS and PACS through HL7 Message. By constructing message files, which follow the form of HL7 Message in the HL7 Interface, they can be transferred to PACS through the ftp protocol. The realization of the HIS/OCS Interface through HL7 enables data transferring between domestic and foreign medical institutions possible by implementing the international standard in the PACS and HIS data transferring process. The HL7 that our research team has developed made patient data transfer between medical institutions possible. The Interface is for a specific system model and in order for the data transfer between different systems to be realized, interfaces that are fit for each system must be needed. If the interface is improvised and implemented to each hospital's information system, the data sharing among medical institutions can be broadened.

  • This study included 12 mothers and their 5-year-old children. Over 5 weeks, mothers participated in 2 hours filial therapy training twice a week, and 30 minutes special play at home once a week. Each mother was videotaped playing with her child and completed three self-report instruments : Parental Acceptance Scale(Porter, 1954), Parenting Stress Index(Abidin, 1990), and Child Behavior Checklist(Oh et al., 1997). These measurements were taken three times : before, immediately after, and 8 weeks after the program. Enhanced empathic interaction and parental acceptance level through filial play therapy training was maintained 8 weeks after the training. Eight weeks after the training, child's behavior problems were significantly reduced in comparison to immediately after the training.

  • A pilot parent education program composed of 8 two-hour sessions was developed on the philosophy of a democratic parent-child relationship. The program focused not only on a concept of personal respect toward children but on change in parenting behaviors through a process of problem-solving. Problem-solving was implemented by encouraging active participation of parents in developing an understanding of the causes of problem behavior and searching for their own solutions. 19 mothers aged 29 to 37 were pre- and post-tested. Two months later, 15 of them responded to a questionnaire (follow-up test). Their concepts of children and parenting behaviors changed dramatically shortly after participation in the program. However, results of the follow-up test showed the such gains are not always long lasting. This implies that further investigation is needed for helping mothers retain the effectiveness of the program.

  • This study is to organize the frame of measuring inventory for housing quality related to mental health in foreign literature reviews. In the first step, many housing quality contents or items are extracted from empirical studies, including housing environment quality and mental health. In the next step, extracted contents and items are classified by space scope (house and neighborhood unit) and WHO housing properties (safety & security, health & sanitation, efficiency/convenience, comfort/amenity). Almost all housing properties follow the WHO standard, but some properties, sustainability and economic characteristics, do not follow the standard. These reflect on current Korean housing environment. They are energy saving and environment friendly effort, property value and economic burden, identity expression, and school district. So they need to be added to the Korean housing quality measurement related to mental health.

  • Cortriatriatum is rare congenital heart disease characterized by the presence of a fibromuscular diaphragm that subdivides the left atrium into a proximal or "accessory" and a distal or "true" left atrial chamber. A 15 year old girl with cortriatriatum underwent surgical correction at the department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Soonchunhyang College in November, 1984. This case was preoperatively diagnosed as a single atrium with functional tricuspid regurgitation But on operation, we found that there were transverse septum in the left atrium through large ASD, low chamber receives the pulmonary veins, and the upper chamber gives rise to the left atrial appendage and leads to the mitral valve. And the anomalous membrane has no fenestrations. We excised completely the anomalous septum, reconstructed atrial septal defect with dacron patch and performed the tricuspid annuloplasty with DeVega method. Postoperative course was uneventful during follow up, during follow up.

  • This paper proposes a formation control method by which multi-mining robots maintain a specified formation and follow a path. To secure the path tracking performance, a pure-pursuit algorithm is considered for each individual robot, and to minimize the deviation from the reference path, speed reduction in the steering motion is added. For the formation, in which two robots are parallel in a lateral direction, the robots track the specified path at a constant distance. In this way, the Leader-Follower method is adopted and the following robot knows the position and heading angle of the leader robot. Through the experimental test using two ground vehicle models, the performance is verified.
