The Effect of Dual Task Training based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health on Walking Ability and Self-Efficacy in Chronic Stroke (ICF 구성요소 기반 이중과제 훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 보행 능력과 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • PURPOSE: This study was conducted to determine the effect of dual-task training (based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health; ICF) on walking ability and self-efficacy in individuals with chronic stroke. METHODS: 22 chronic stroke patients participated in this study. Participants were randomly allocated into either the single-task group (n=11) or the dual-task group (n=11). Both groups had physical training three a week for 4 weeks, and at a three-week follow-up. Outcome measures included the 10m walking test (10MWT), figure of 8 walk test (F8WT), dynamic gait index (DGI), and Self-efficacy scale. All data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 for Windows. Between-group and within-group comparison were analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon singed-rank test respectively. RESULTS: In the dual-task group, the 10MWT, time and steps of F8WT, DGI, and self-efficacy showed significant differences between pre- and post-test (p<.05). The Changes between the pre- and post-test values of 10MWT (p<.05), DGI (p<.05), and self-efficacy scale (p<.05) showed significant differences between the dual-task group and single-task group. CONCLUSION: Participants reported improved walking ability and self-efficacy, suggesting that dual-task training holds promise in the rehabilitation of walking in chronic stroke patients. This study showed that ICF-based on a dual-task protocol contiributes to motor learning after chronic stroke.

  • Glass와 실리콘 웨이퍼(p-type(100), $ ho$=6~8$\Omega$-cm)를 기판으로 하여 NiFe/glass , NiFe/Si, NiFe/Al/Si, NiFe/Ti/Si 의 박막을 제작하였다. 하지층으로 사용한 알루미늄과 티타늄은 RF 스퍼터링으로 증착하였으며 퍼럼로이(NiFe) 필름은 60, 80, 90wt%Ni로 조성을 변화시켜 증착하였다. 박막의 포화자화(Ms), 보자력(Hc), 각형비(F)는 sweep time을 1.7분으로 하여 시료 토크마그네토 메터로 측정하였다. 보자력에 영향을 주는 표면조도는 전자주사현미경(SEM)과 표면조도 측정기로써 알아보았다. 실험결과 80wt% Ni 의 퍼멀로이에서 자장 중 열처리(35 Oe,$ 350^{\circ}C$) 후 약 1의 각형비를 나타내었으며 열처리 후 보자력이 떨어짐을 보였다. 자기이방성은 알루미늄을 하지층으로 한 퍼멀로이 박막에서 가장 좋은 값(Ku=-9.60 $\times$106 emu/㎤)을 나타내었다.

SEPARATION OF CsCl FROM LiCl-CsCl MOLTEN SALT BY COLD FINGER MELT CRYSTALLIZATION

  • This study provides a fundamental understanding of a cold finger melt crystallization technique by exploring the heat and mass transfer processes of cold finger separation. A series of experiments were performed using a simplified LiCl-CsCl system by varying initial CsCl concentrations (1, 3, 5, and 7.5 wt%), cold finger cooling rates (7.4, 9.8, 12.3, and 14.9 L/min), and separation times (5, 10, 15, and 30 min). Results showed a potential recycling rate of 0.36 g/min with a purity of 0.33 wt% CsCl in LiCl. A CsCl concentrated drip formation was found to decrease crystal purity especially for smaller crystal formations. Dimensionless heat and mass transfer correlations showed that separation production is primarily influenced by convective transfer controlled by cooling gas flow rate, where correlations are more accurate for slower cooling gas flow rates.

  • The effect of glass flit addition on microwave dielectric properties of BaTiO$_3$-3TiO$_2$ ceramic was studied. Addition of glass frit to this system obtained sintered sample below sintering temperature 105$0^{\circ}C$. At BaTiO$_3$-3TiO$_2$+ g1ass frit 3wt% + BaWO$_4$6 wt%m, this ceramic showed excellent microwave properties of dielectric constant 34, Q$\times$f 8,100, temperature coefficient of resonant frequency 4 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ .

  • Nanotube morphology change of Ti-Ta-Zr alloy as Zr content increase has been researched using various experimental methods. Ti-Ta-Zr(3, 7 and 15 wt%) alloys were prepared by arc melting and nano-structure controlled for 24 hr at $1000^{\circ}C$ in argon atmosphere. Formation of oxide nanotubes are conducted by anodizing a Ti-Ta-Zr alloy in $H_3PO_4$ electrolytes with small amounts of fluoride ions at room temperature. Electrochemical experiments were carried out with conventional three-electrode configuration with a platinum counter electrode and a saturated calomel reference electrode. The samples were embedded with epoxy resin, leaving a square surface area of $10mm^2$ exposed to the anodizing electrolyte, 1.0M $H_3PO_4$ containing 0.8wt% NaF.

  • In this study, we investigated electrochemically formed nanotube shape on ternary Ti-25Ta-xHf alloys with Hf contents. Ti-25Ta-xHf (x=0~15 wt.%) alloys were manufactured by vacuum arc-melting furnace. The obtained ingots were homogenized in an argon atmosphere at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2h and then water quenching. The specimens were cut from ingots to 4 mm thickness and first ground and polished using SiC paper (grades from #100 to #2000). The anodization treatments on Ti-25Nb-xHf alloys were carried out at room temperature for experiments. The formation of nanotubular film was conducted by electrochemical method in mixed electrolytes with 1 M $H_3PO_4$ + 0.8 wt. % NaF at 30 V for 2 h. The morphologies of nanotube depended on the Hf content in Ti-25Ta-xHf ternary system.

Endogenous catalase delays high-fat diet-induced liver injury in mice

  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most prevalent liver disease in parallel with worldwide epidemic of obesity. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) contributes to the development and progression of NAFLD. Peroxisomes play an important role in fatty acid oxidation and ROS homeostasis, and catalase is an antioxidant exclusively expressed in peroxisome. The present study examined the role of endogenous catalase in early stage of NAFLD. 8-week-old male catalase knock-out (CKO) and age-matched C57BL/6J wild type (WT) mice were fed either a normal diet (ND: 18% of total calories from fat) or a high fat diet (HFD: 60% of total calories from fat) for 2 weeks. CKO mice gained body weight faster than WT mice at early period of HFD feeding. Plasma triglyceride and ALT, fasting plasma insulin, as well as liver lipid accumulation, inflammation (F4/80 staining), and oxidative stress (8-oxo-dG staining and nitrotyrosine level) were significantly increased in CKO but not in WT mice at 2 weeks of HFD feeding. While phosphorylation of Akt (Ser473) and $PGC1{\alpha}$ mRNA expression were decreased in both CKO and WT mice at HFD feeding, $GSK3{\beta}$ phosphorylation and Cox4-il mRNA expression in the liver were decreased only in CKO-HF mice. Taken together, the present data demonstrated that endogenous catalase exerted beneficial effects in protecting liver injury including lipid accumulation and inflammation through maintaining liver redox balance from the early stage of HFD-induced metabolic stress.

Thermal resistance effect of graphene doped zinc oxide nanocomposite in fire retardant epoxy coatings

  • Graphene doped zinc oxide nanoparticles (G-ZnO) were prepared using modified hummer's technique together with the ultrasonic method and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Different samples of epoxy resin nanocomposites reinforced with G-ZnO nanoparticles were prepared and were marked as F1 (without adding nanoparticles), F2 (1% w/w G-ZnO), and F3 (2% w/w G-ZnO) in combination of ≈ 56:18:18:8w/w% with epoxy resin/hardener, ammonium polyphosphate, boric acid, and Chitosan. The peak heat release rate (PHRR) of the epoxy nanocomposites was observed to decrease dramatically with the increasing G-ZnO nanoparticles. However, the LOI values increased significantly with the increase in wt % of G-ZnO nanoparticles. From the UL-94V data, it was confirmed that the F2 and F3 samples passed the flame test and were rated as V-0. The results obtained in the present work clearly revealed that the synthesized samples can be used as efficient materials in fire-retardant coating technology.

Properties of Organic PMMA Gate Insulator Film at Various Concentration and Film Thickness (PMMA 유기 게이트 절연막의 농도와 두께에 따른 특성)

  • The MIM(metal-insulator-metal) capacitors with the Al/PMMA/ITO/Glass structures were manufactured according to various PMMA concentration of 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 wt%. The lowest leakage current and the largest capacitance were found to be 2.3 pA and 1.2 nF, respectively, for the device with 2 wt% PMMA concentration. The measured capacitance of the devices was almost same values with the calculated one. The optimum film thickness was obtained at the value of 48 nm, showing that the capacitance and leakage current were 1.92 nF, 0.3 pA at 2 wt%, respectively. From this experiment, the PMMA gate insulator films can be applicable to the organic thin film transistors.

Low-temperature sintering and dielectric properties of the (1-x)$BiNbO_4-(x)ZnNb_2O_6$ ceramics ((1-x)$BiNbO_4-(x)ZnNb_2O_6$ 세라믹스의 저온 소결 및 유전 특성)

  • In this study, the microwave dielectric property variations of (1-x)$BiNbO_4-(x)ZnNb_2O_6$ composites (x=0.3, 0.5 and 0.7) with 10wt% zinc borosilicate(ZBS) glass was investigated as a function of the substitution of $ZnNb_2O_6$ with a view to applying thes system to LTCC technology. The all composition addition of 10wt% ZBS glass ensured a successful sintering below $900^{\circ}C$. In addition, a small amount of $Bi_2SiO_5$ as the secondary phase was observed in the all composition. The substitution of $ZnNb_2O_6$ on the $BiNbO_4$ composites increased the $Q{\times}f$ values, but it decreased the sinterability and dielectric constant due to the high sintering temperature and low dielectric constant of $ZnNb_2O_6\;than\;BiNbO_4$ ceramics. The increasing of $ZnNb_2O_6$ content from 0.3 to 0.7 in the (1-x)$BiNbO_4-(x)ZnNb_2O_6$ composites with 10wt% ZBS glass sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ demonstrated 28.1~15.6 in the dielectric constant$({\varepsilon}_r)$, 5,500~8,700GHz in the $Q{\times}f$ value.
