Effects of Immune Stress on Performance Parameters, Intestinal Enzyme Activity and mRNA Expression of Intestinal Transporters in Broiler Chickens

  • Immune stress is the loss of immune homeostasis caused by external forces. The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of immune stress on the growth performance, small intestinal enzymes and peristalsis rate, and mRNA expression of nutrient transporters in broiler chickens. Four hundred and thirty-two 1-d-old broilers (Cobb500) were randomly assigned to four groups for treatment; each group included nine cages with 12 birds per cage. Group 1 = no vaccine (NV); Group 2 = conventional vaccine (CV); group 3 = lipopolysaccharide (LPS)+conventional vaccine (LPS); group 4 = cyclophosphamide (CYP)+conventional vaccine (CYP). The results demonstrated that immune stress by LPS and CYP reduced body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), small intestine peristalsis rate and sIgA content in small intestinal digesta (p<0.05). However, the feed conversion ratio (FCR) remained unchanged during the feeding period. LPS and CYP increased intestinal enzyme activity, relative expression of SGLT-1, CaBP-D28k and L-FABP mRNAs (p<0.05). LPS and CYP injection had a negative effect on the growth performance of healthy broiler chickens. The present study demonstrated that NV and CV could improve growth performance while enzyme activity in small intestine and relative expression of nutrient transporter mRNA of NV and CV were decreased in the conditions of a controlled rational feeding environment. It is generally recommended that broilers only need to be vaccinated for the diseases to which they might be exposed.

  • 물푸레나무 수피 추출물은 주요 생활성 물질로서 esculetin과 esculin을 포함하고 있다. 이 가운데, Esculetin은 B16F10 melanoma cells에서 $IC_{50}$ value $2.8{\mu}M$의 아주 좋은 melanogenesis 억제 활성을 나타내며, 이를 통해 Melan-A cell에서 melanin 합성을 감소시킨다. 더욱이, esculetin은 mushroom tyrosinase에서도 $IC_{50}$ value $40{\mu}M$의 억제 활성을 나타내어 melanin biosynthesis를 저해한다. 위의 결과들로서, 우리는 melanogenic enzyme 활성 조절에 의해 melanin 생성을 저해하는 효과적인 피부미백 물질로서 esculetin을 제안하고자 한다.

임분형상고(林分形狀高)에 의한 임분재적(林分材積) 추정(推定)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Estimation of Stand Volume by Stand Form Height)

  • 임분재적(林分材積) 추정시(推定時) 간편(間便)하며, 정도(精度)를 유지(維持)한 추정방법(推定方法)의 유도(誘導)를 위(爲)하여 전국(全國)에서 잣나무 107개소(個所), 일본잎갈나무 82개소(個所)의 표준지(標準地)($40m{\times}40m$)를 선정(選定)하여 임목(林木)의 평균흉고직경(平均胸高直徑), 평균수고(平均樹高), ha당(當) 단면적(斷面績), 임분형상고(林分形狀高), 단면적수고(斷面績樹高), ha당(當) 본수(本數), ha당(當) 재적(材積), 임분(林分) 및 지형조사(地形調査)를 실시(實施)하였다. 이로써 임분평균흉고직경(林分平均胸高直徑)과 임분형상고(林分形狀高), 임분형상고(林分形狀高)와 임분재적(林分材積)과의 관계(關係)를 구명(究明)한 결과(結果), 전자(前者)의 관계(關係)에서는 잣나무 $H{\cdot}F=1.2569+0.2576D$, 일본잎갈나무 $H{\cdot}F=4.3045+0.1443D$이었고, 후자(後者)의 관계(關係)에서는 잣나무 log V = 1.3855+0.1168 H.F, 일본잎갈나무 log V = 0.9929+0.1542 H.F이었으며, 임분재적식(林分材積式) 적합도(適合度) 검정결과(檢定結果) 모두 유효(有效)하였으며, 추정오차율(推定誤差率)도 잣나무 18.29%, 일본 잎갈나무 19.22%로 양호(良好)하여 금후(今後) 임분평균흉고직경(林分平均胸高直徑)으로 임분재적(林分材積)의 추정(推定)이 가능(可能)한 것으로 사료(思料)된다.

  • SRM drives generate large vibration and acoustic noise because it is commutated individually by step pulse m.m.f on each phase pole. The frequency or motor speed of peak vibrations and acoustic noises is coincided with the natural resonant frequency of the magnetic structure and frame material. And this radial vibration force is induced on the phase commutation region. This paper suggest the new electromagnetic structure of SRM with auxiliary commutation winding excited d.c e.m.f.. This phase- commutating winding is coupled magnetically between one phase winding and the vibrating force is falled down. As a result, SRM with d.c exciting commutation winding is very useful to reduce vibration and acoustic noise of SRM drive.

DAF 펌프를 이용한 실규모 용존공기부상 공정의 전처리 조건 (Pretreatment Condition in the Full Scale Dissolved Air Flotation Process Using a DAF Pump)

  • 용존공기부상(Dissolved Air Flotation)은 조류, 휴믹물질, 및 저밀도 입자가 포함된 원수의 처리에서 침전지보다 우수한 성능을 가지는 공정이다. 본 연구는 실험실과 실규모의 DAF 펌프형 시스템을 이용하여 정수처리공정의 전처리(응집/응결) 조건에 따른 처리효율을 비교하여 나타하였다. 실규모 DAF 펌프형 시스템(Full scale DAF pump system ; F-DAF)은 처리용량과 수력학적 부하량을 각각 5,000 톤/일과 10 m/hr이며, F-DAF는 D 정수장의 원수에서 전처리(혼화/응집) 및 운전성능을 최적화하기 위해 운전하였다. 실험실 규모의 실험결과는 원수 탁도 13.8~56.3 NTU에서 최적 PSO-M 주입량은 2.7~4.5 mL/$m^3$/NTU이었다. 이와같이 최적 응집제 주입 조건에서 유출수의 탁도를 1.0 NTU 이하로 1개월 동안 유지하며 F-DAF의 운전이 가능하였다.

Drosophila melanogaster와 D. simulans 및 그들간 잡종의 형태학적 유연관계 (Morphological Relationship between Drosophila melanogaster, D. simulans and their Hybrids)

  • Drosophila melanogaster(OR)와 D. simulans(09) 및 그들 종간 잡종 사이의 형태적 유연관계를 비교하기 위하여 내.외부생식기 및 성즐을 조사하였다. 이를 위하여 D. melanogaster 암컷과 D. simulans 수컷의 교배에서 암컷을, 그 정역 교배로서 수컷을 얻었으며 두 종간 사이의 잡종 $F_{1}$들은 모두 불임이었다. 내부생식기의 비교에서, 두종간 (melanogaster female $\times$ simulans male) 잡종 {$F_{1}$ 암컷의 경우는 양쪽 난소가 모두 퇴화된 형태였으며, 그 정역교배에 의한 $F_{1}$ 수컷의 정소는 미발달된 상태로 남아 있었다. 이런 형태적 특징은 D. melanogaster P-M system에서의 hybrid dysgensesis에 의한 양상과 매우 유사하였다. 수컷의 앞다리 제1부절에 존재하는 성즐의 평균 치열수는 D. melanogaster와 D. simulans에서 각각 10.73개와 8.35개 였으며, 잡종 $F_{1}$ 수컷의 경우는 9.97개 정도였다. 두 종간 잡종 $F_{1}$ 수컷의 외부 생식기의 전체적인 형태는 D. melanogaster와 비슷하였으나, 부분적으로 D. simulans에 유사하거나 중간적인 형질을 가지는 mosaic 구조였다.

A GENERALIZATION OF THE ZERO-DIVISOR GRAPH FOR MODULES

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity and M an R-module. In this paper, we associate a graph to M, say ${\Gamma}(M)$, such that when M = R, ${\Gamma}(M)$ is exactly the classic zero-divisor graph. Many well-known results by D. F. Anderson and P. S. Livingston, in [5], and by D. F. Anderson and S. B. Mulay, in [6], have been generalized for ${\Gamma}(M)$ in the present article. We show that ${\Gamma}(M)$ is connected with $diam({\Gamma}(M)){\leq}3$. We also show that for a reduced module M with $Z(M)^*{\neq}M{\backslash}\{0\}$, $gr({\Gamma}(M))={\infty}$ if and only if ${\Gamma}(M)$ is a star graph. Furthermore, we show that for a finitely generated semisimple R-module M such that its homogeneous components are simple, $x,y{\in}M{\backslash}\{0\}$ are adjacent if and only if $xR{\cap}yR=(0)$. Among other things, it is also observed that ${\Gamma}(M)={\emptyset}$ if and only if M is uniform, ann(M) is a radical ideal, and $Z(M)^*{\neq}M{\backslash}\{0\}$, if and only if ann(M) is prime and $Z(M)^*{\neq}M{\backslash}\{0\}$.

Insulin Inhibits the Expression of Adiponectin and AdipoR2 mRNA in Cultured Bovine Adipocytes

  • Adiponectin is an adipocyte-derived protein that has a regulatory role in energy homeostasis and influences insulin sensitivity. Its effects on glucose utilization and lipid metabolism are mediated by AdipoR1 and AdipoR2. How insulin affects adiponectin gene expression and secretion is still controversial. This study was conducted to determine the expression of adiponectin, AdipRs and $PPAR-\gamma$ during the differentiation of bovine preadipocytes and the effect of insulin on expression of these genes in bovine adipocytes. The bovine preadipocytes started to accumulate lipids three days after differentiation was induced, with increased expression of adiponectin, AdipoR2 and $PPAR-\gamma$ mRNAs. Insulin decreased the expression of adiponectin mRNA in a dose- and time-dependent fashion, and the inhibition was detectable at insulin concentrations as low as 10 nM and as early as 2 h after addition of 100 nM insulin. Insulin also inhibited the expression of AdipoR2 mRNA at concentrations from 1 to 1,000 nM or 24 h after addition of 100 nM insulin, but did not affect the expression of AdipoR1 in bovine adipocytes. Inhibition of PI3K with LY294002 reversed the inhibition of adiponectin and AdipoR2 mRNA expression by insulin. These results suggest that insulin suppresses the expression of adiponectin and AdipoR2 at least partially via the PI3K signal pathway.

높은 $f_{max}$ 를 갖는 InGaAs/InAlAs MHEMT 의 Pad 설계 (Modification of CPW Pad Design for High fmax InGaAs/InAlAs Metamorphic High Electron Mobility Transistors)

  • In this paper, we have performed a study that modifies the CPW Pad configurations to improve an $f_{max}$ characteristic of metamorphic HEMT. To analyze the CPW Pad structures of MHEMT, we use the ADS momentum simulator developed by $Agilent^{TM}$. Comparing the employed structure (G/W = 40/100 m), the optimized structure (G/W = 20/25 m) of CPW MHEMT shows the increased $S_{21}$ by 2.5 dB, which is one of the dominant parameters influencing the $f_{max}$ of MHEMT. To compare the performances of optimized MHEMT with the employed MHEMT, DC and RF characteristics of the fabricated MHEMT were measured. In the case of optimized CPW MHEMT, the measured saturated drain current density and transconductance $(g_m)$ were 693 mA/mm and 647 mS/mm, respectively. RF measurements were performed in a frequency range of $0.1{\sim}110$ GHz. A high $S_{21}$ gain of 5.5 dB is shown at a millimeter-wave frequency of 110 GHz. Two kinds of RF gains, $h_{21}$ and maximum available gain (MAG), versus the frequency, and a cut-off frequency ($f_t$) of ${\sim}154$ GHz and a maximum frequency of oscillation ($f_{max}$) of ${\sim}358$ GHz are obtained, respectively, from the extrapolation of the RF gains for a device biased at a peak transconductance. An optimized CPW MHEMT structure is one of the first reports among fabricated 0.1 m gate length MHEMTs.
