  • An Adaptive Random Testing(ART) is one of test case generation algorithms, which was designed to get better performance in terms of fault-detection capability than that of Random Testing(RT) algorithm by locating test cases in evenly spreaded area. Two ART algorithms, such as Distance-based ART(D-ART) and Restricted Random Testing(RRT), had been indicated that they have significant drawbacks in computations, i.e., consuming quadratic order of runtime. To reduce the amount of computations of D-ART and RRT, iterative partitioning of input domain strategy was proposed. They achieved, to some extent, the moderate computation cost with relatively high performance of fault detection. Those algorithms, however, have yet the patterns of non-uniform distribution in test cases, which obstructs the scalability. In this paper we analyze the distribution of test cases in an iterative partitioning strategy, and propose a new method of input domain enlargement which makes the test cases get much evenly distributed. The simulation results show that the proposed one has about 3 percent of improvement in terms of mean relative F-measure for 2-dimension input domain, and shows 10 percent improvement for 3-dimension space.

  • This study investigated the smoke blocking and control systems for the safety of residents evacuation and for the prevention of smoke spread through the central corridor in the event of central corridor type of intelligent building fire. We offered additional ways of utilizing smoke ventilators and intake ventilation equipment and utilized CFD-based fire simulation program(FDS Ver.5.5.3) in order to analyze the effect. As a result, many differences in the smoke block effect, depending on the application of smoke ventilator and location of installation, was found. In addition, the result was found that larger effect was showed not in the case of application of smoke ventilator in central corridor only but application in fire room. The reason is that the smoke leakage is blocked primarily as air is flowed in the fire room through open door by operation of intake smoke ventilator in the public corridor and secondarily, the smoke leakage to the public corridor could be blocked as fire and smoke were released to the opened smoke ventilator continuously. Especially, the effect was maximized through complex interactions by applying smoke ventilator and intake ventilation equipment in corridor together rather than applying smoke ventilator and intake ventilation equipment independently. The proposed measure through this study shall be considered from architectural plan as one of ways for blocking from smoke spread to the central corridor in the central corridor type of intelligent building. In addition, flaws on regulation shall be established and supplemented.

  • Objective: To determine whether particular semen characteristics in various clinical diagnoses of infertility are associated with high oxidative stress and whether any group of infertile men is more likely to have high seminal oxidative stress. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play an important role in sperm physiological functions, but elevated levels of ROS or oxidative stress are related to male infertility. Design: Measurement of sperm concentration, motility, morphology, seminal ROS, and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in patients seeking infertility treatment and controls. Setting: Male infertility clinic of a tertiary care center. Patient(s): One hundred sixty-seven infertile patients and 19 controls. Intervention(s): None. Main Outcome Measure(s): Semen characteristics, seminal ROS, and TAC in samples from patients with various clinical diagnoses and controls. Result(s): Fifteen patients (9.0%) were Endtz positive and 152(91.0%) Endtz negative. Sperm concentration, motility, and morphology were significantly reduced in all groups compared with the controls (P = .02), except in varicocele associated With infection group. Mean (${\pm}$SD) ROS levels in patient groups ranged from 2.2 ${\pm}$ 0.13 to 3.2 ${\pm}$ 0.35, signilicantly higher than controls (1.3 ${\pm}$ 0.3; P<.005). Patient groups had a significantly lower mean (${\pm}$SD) TAC from 1014.75 ${\pm}$ 79.22 to 1173.05 ${\pm}$ 58.07 than controls (1653 ${\pm}$ 115.28, P<.001), except ill the vaseclony reversal group (1532.02 ${\pm}$ 74.24). Sperm concentration was negatively correlated with ROS both overall and within all groups (P${\leq}$.007), with the exception of idiopathic infertility. Conclusion(s): Irrespective of the clinical diagnosis and semen characteristics, the presence of seminal oxidative stress in infertile men suggests its role in the pathophysiology of infertility. Medical or surgical treatments for infertility in these men should include strategies to reduce oxidative stress.

  • Purpose: Music intervention has long been used in research of patients undergoing surgical operation in reducing anxiety level and improve surgical outcome. However, there are few studies that have considered a patient's music preference. We investigated the effect of the tailored music intervention which chose music according to the patient's preference on anxiety level and vital signs. Method: The subjects were 50 patients who received regional anesthesia for surgical operation at D hospital in Pohang city from April, 2006 to November, 2006. All of the subjects were randomly assigned either music group (30 subjects) or non-music group (20 subjects). As the patients arrived in the operating room, vital signs were monitored until the subjects were transferred to the recovery room, while Spielberger's STAI-KYZ questionnaires were applied twice to measure preoperative and intra-operative anxiety. The data were analyzed by 2-test, t-test, one-way ANCOVA and repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS 12.0/PC+. Results: There were no significant differences between the two groups on vital signs. All of the vital signs increased when the subjects arrived in the operating room, but decreased quickly once the operation began, regardless of the groups. However, the music group reported significantly less intra-operative anxiety, compared to the non-music group (F=15.208, p<.000), when preoperative anxiety was treated as a covariance. Conclusion: The findings support that the use of music which was chosen by patients during the surgery significantly reduced patient's intra-operative anxiety during regional anesthesia.

  • 4U 1323-62, a low mass X-ray binary with an orbital period of 2.94 hr, exhibits periodic X-ray dips, which are due to absorption by the bulge of the outer accretion disk. The purpose of this study is to search for orbital period changes using archived X-ray data over a time span of 20 years. We present our preliminary results from analyzing light curves observed by RXTE, BeppoSAX, XMM-Newton and Suzaku. We used the method proposed by Hu et al. (2008) to estimate dip center time and adopted the Observed - Calculated method to measure changes in period. We obtained an orbital period of 2.941917(36) hr and a period derivative of $\dot{P}_{orb}/P_{orb}=(-9.9{\pm}3.5){\times}10^{-7}yr^{-1}$. The F-test result shows that the quadratic ephemeris is describes the evolution of the dip phases better than the linear ephemeris at a greater than 95% confidence level. More X-ray data collected from the early 80s will be included to further refine the orbital ephemeris.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the stresses in different proximal margins and to measure, quantitatively, the effect of different modifications in the design of preparations on the stresses using two-dimensional photoelasticity. Photoelastic stress analysis is based on the phenomenon, exhibited by most transparent solids, of becoming birefringent, or doubly refracting, when strained. Two birefringent materials were used in this study, PSM-1 and PSM-5 in .standard sheet ($10'{\times}10'{\times}\frac{1}{4}'$ thickness), PSM-1(polyester) was used for constructing the substructure, and PSM-5(epoxy resin) was used in making the restorations to be investigated. Two birefringent materials were used in the construction of composite photoelastic model. Seven variable models were constructed. The peripheral dimensions of all model were constant and the models represent an occlusomesial section of a lower posterior molar. Model 1 represents the knife edge margin (shoulderless), Model 2 represents the chamfer, Model 3 represents a rounded shoulder(no sharp angle between the axial wall and gingival floor), Model 4 represents a flat shoulder (axial wall is a $90^{\circ}$ angle to the gingival wall), Model 5 represents $+15^{\circ}$ angulation, Model 6 has a $-15^{\circ}$ angulation, and Model 7 is the same as Model 4 except that it has a $45^{\circ}$ bevel. Improved artificial stone was used to represent dental cement in luting the composite photoelastic model. Static loading procedures(100 pounds) were used at preplanned sites. The results were as follows; 1. The stresses in the proximal portion of all tested models were compressive in nature when the proximal shoulders were loaded vertically on the same proximal marginal ridge. 2. The round and chamfered preparations were the optimum designs in proximoocclusal restorations. They showed the lowest stress concentration factor, i.e. 2.16 and 2.23, respectively. The knife edged shoulder had the highest value, K=5.39. Round type shoulder geometry experiments reduced the stress concentration factor (S.C.F.) 3. The gingival portion of proximal shoulder geometry was a critical location for stress concentration.

  • Manuka oil named New Zealand’s tea tree oil is oil-soluble and comes firom nature. Manuka oil and its extract $\alpha$-pinene, Oxy’less clear, R-limonene which is one of the component of Citron extracted from Grapefruit seed and Citrex were used to estimate the antimicrobial activity and to improve the capability of antiseptic. Disk diffusion method was used to measure the antimicrobial activity. Escherichia coli which is gram-negative bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus which is gram-positive bacteria were used as strain. The antimicrobial activity of Manuka oil and $\alpha$-pinene for Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus was similar when the concentration of Manuka oil and $\alpha$-pinene are 10u/paper disk. However, antimi-crobial activity of Manuka oil fDr Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aurem was better than that of $\alpha$-pinene when the concentration of Manuka oil and $\alpha$-pinene was low. Antimicrobial activity of Oxy’less clear is better than that of propyl para hydroxybenzoate(PPHB), R-limonene at all the concentration and is similar to that of $\alpha$-pinene. • The oily bittering Acheilognathus koreensis is a freshwater species that is endemic to Korea and is experiencing severe declines in natural populations as a result of habitat fragmentation and water pollution. For the conservation and restoration of this species, it is necessary to assess its genetic diversity at the population level. We developed 13 polymorphic microsatellite loci that were used to analyze the genetic diversity of two populations collected from the Kum River and the Tamjin River in Korea. All loci exhibited Mendelian inheritance patterns when examined in controlled crosses. Both populations revealed high levels of variability, with the number of alleles ranging from 3 to 20 and observed and expected heterozygosities ranging from 0.500 to 0.969 and from 0.529 to 0.938, respectively. None of the loci showed significant deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, and one pair of loci showed significant linkage disequilibrium after Bonferroni correction. Pairwise $F_{ST}$ and genetic distance estimation showed significant differences between two populations. These results suggest that the microsatellites developed herein can be used to study the genetic diversity, population structure and conservation measure of A. koreensis.
