Impression cytology refers to application of cellulose acetate filter material to the ocular surface to remove the superficial layers of the conjunctival epithelium. The technique is non-invasive, is easy to perform, causes minimal discomfort to the patient, and can be used to follow changes in the conjunctival ocular surface over time. With this method, the morphology of the conjunctival ocular surface can be studied and the degree of squmaous metaplasia assessed. This study was performed to evaluate the conjunctival surface by impression cytology in dry eye patients. A total of 70 students with no contact lens wearing history were recruited. Subjects were required to fill in a McMonnies dry eye symptom questionnaire. The non-invasive tear thinning time(TIT) test of each subject was measured, followed by Schirmer tear test(STI), tear film break-up time(TBUT) tests and Rose-bengal staining were performed as a baseline. Conjunctival epithelial cells from the inferior bulbar conjunctiva were harvested by the impression cytology technique. The specimens collected were labelled and stained with PAS(Periodic Acid Schift)-haematoxylin. The goblet cells and conjunctival epithelial cells were observed under a light microscope of 400x magnification. The specimens were classified according to the Nelson Grading scale which was based on the degree of squamous metaplasia such as changes of goblet cells density, size/form, N:C(nucleus : cytoplasm) ratio. Dry eye patients were observed morphological changes of the epithelial cells, different nuclear alterations, decrease of the goblet cells density. The degree of cytological changes was related to severity of dry eye conditions. When the epithelial cell morphology was graded according to the system described by Nelson, specimens from the control group revealed 91.43% of the eyes to be grade 0 and 8.57% to be grade 1, whereas of the dry eye patients, 20% were grade 0, 42.86% grade 1, 34.29% grade 2 and 2,86% grade 3. Impression cytology represents a non- or minimally invasive biopsy of the ocular surface epithelium with no side effects or contraindications. It has demonstrated to be a useful diagnostic aid for a wide variety of processes involving the ocular surface. This technique is a safe, simple method and may help increase understanding of various ocular surface alterations in dry eye patients.
Purpose: Eye movements and fixation ability are an important procedure to obtain external information and essential means of clear vision. The purpose of this study was to determine the reading performance such as reading time and number of fixations when random text was viewed at varying distances. Methods: Twenty two presbyopes were participated. All subjects were screened for their suitability to participate in the study by clinical examination, and none of the participants had previously worn contact lenses and no previous experience of wearing any types of presbyopic vision correction except single vision. The reading time and number of fixations were recorded using eye tracker while each subjects was waring four vision corrections which included single vision for distance (SV), bifocal spectacle lenses (BIF), progressive addition lenses (PAL), and monovision (MV). The reading material was presented at distance and near distance. Results: Reading time and number of fixations for near stimulus were significantly different among vision correction used in this study (p<0.001). In particular, wearing SV required longer reading time and produced longer fixation duration for near text. However, reading distance text was similarity performed across vision corrections tested and there was no statistical difference found for either reading time and number of fixations. Conclusions: Wearing presbyopic vision correction is advantageous for reading task of near stimuli, but not having near correction such as wearing SV could result in longer reading time and higher number of fixation due to lacks of accommodative ability for near task. For the future studies, it would be interesting to examine the performance of reading both at adapted and unadapted stages as examining only unadapted wearers was limitation of this study.

Many foreign companies and organizations are doing their business aggressively in Korea and many Korean companies and rushing into foreign market. When people communicate for business with someone from another culture, there could be difficult communication barriers to overcome resulting from differences in their values, beliefs, norms for behavior, expectations, attitudes and so on. To do successfully business, we need to understand culture background and communication style that is different from nation, race, language. Communication barriers stemming from cultural differences may vary. Largely, they can be divided into value system, non-verbal communication, and perception process. Value system can be divided into individualism versus group orientation, avoidance of uncertainty degree, power distance, and high- context culture versus low-context culture. Also non-verbal communication method and perception process may play decisive roles in communication effectiveness. Especially nonverbal communication barriers which sometimes play more important roles than the verbal parts are composed of eye contact, gesture, kinesics, proxemics, chronemics, paralanguage and language of color Cross-cultural communication affect business situation. I expect that if we understand cultural background, and then we overcome cross-cultural communication barriers. To overcome and to adapt inter-cultural business, we need to develope curriculum on the cross-cultural education which I will study in the next paper.

Due to the variety of signal processing and complicated mathematical analysis, it is not easy to accomplish 3D bin-picking with non-contact sensor. To solve this difficulties the reliable signal processing algorithm and a good sensing device has been recommended. In this research, 3D laser scanner and CCD camera is applied as a sensing device respectively. With these sensor we develop a two-step bin-picking method and reliable algorithm for the recognition of 3D bin object. In the proposed bin-picking, the problem is reduced to 2D intial recognition with CCD camera at first, and then 3D pose detection with a laser scanner. To get a good movement in the robot base frame, the hand eye calibration between robot's end effector and sensing device should be also carried out. In this paper, we examine auto-calibration technique in the sensor calibration step. A new thinning algorithm and constrained hough transform is also studied for the robustness in the real environment usage. From the experimental results, we could see the robust bin-picking operation under the non-aligned 3D hole object.

The impact response and damage of CLAS panel was investigated experimentally. The facesheet material used was RO4003 woven-glass hydrocarbon/ceramic and the core material was Nomex honeycomb with a cell size of 3.2mm and a density of 96 kg/$\textrm{m}^{3}$. The shield plane used was RO4003 and 2024-T3 aluminum. Static indentation and impact test was conducted to characterize the type and extent of the damage observed in two CLAS panels, and the performance of antenna used in a wireless LAN system. Correlation of peak contact force, residual indentation and the delamination area shows impact damage of the panel with an aluminum shield plane is larger than that of the panel with RO4003 shield plane, although tile former is more penetration resistant. The damage was observed by naked eye, ultrasonic inspection and cross sectioning. The shape and size of delamination was estimated by ultrasonic inspection, and the area of delamination linearly increases as impact energy increases. The performance of impact damaged antenna was estimated by measuring return loss and radiation pattern.
Stance is defined as any state in which the total mass of the body is supported by the feet. In order to maintain stance, the sum of gravito-inertial forces acting on the body must be registered by equal and opposite forces at the region of contact between the organism and the support surface. Balance is controlled by applying forces to the surface of support so as to maintain the body's center of mass vertically above the feet. for a muIti-segment organism, there can be a variety of ways in which balance can be controlled, since movements of different body segments can have similar effects on the control of balance. In general, the organism tends to have a body configuration that is aligned with gravito-inertial force when there are no external forces acting on it. If any segments of the body are not aligned with gravito-inertial force vector, a torque on that segment would tend to move the body's center of mass. The maintenance of postural stability is accomplished in humans by a complex neural control system. This requires organizing integrating and acting upon visual, vestibular, and somatosensory input, providing orientation information to the postural control system. The information necessary to control and coordinate movement is provided by the visual sense of eye position with respect to the surrounding surface layout, the vestibular sense of head orientation in the gravito-inertial space, and the somatic sense of body segment position relative to one another and to the support surface. In this study, perception and action capability was examined from various points of view. The underlying assumption of the study was that the change of postural configuration could be effected by organism, environment and task goal.
The purpose of this paper is aimed to derive suggestions for convergence technology for effective management of distance education by analyzing a long-term case. The experiment was designed with notebook, smartphone or tablet based robot controlled by a remote instructor and a learner, who have experience of distance learning including robot assisted learning. The tablet based robot has the display system of feedback to speakers. During five months, three types of experiments were conducted randomly and a participant was interviewed thoroughly. The result, like the previous research, demonstrates that the task performance of the learner in telepresence robot-assisted learning was better than that in the notebook, and smartphone based. However, it is believed to be necessary to adjust the system for eye-contact and voice transmission for the remote instructor. The instructor required an additional sight by supplementing an extra camera and automatic direction control to source of sound.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to compare the passivity of implant superstructures by assessing the strain development around the internal tapered connection implants with strain gauges. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A polyurethane resin block in which two implants were embedded served as a measurement model. Two groups of implant restorations utilized cement-retained design and internal surface of the first group was adjusted until premature contact between the restoration and the abutment completely disappeared. In the second group, only nodules detectable to the naked eye were removed. The third group employed screw-retained design and specimens were generated by computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing system (n=10). Four strain gauges were fixed on the measurement model mesially and distally to the implants. The strains developed in each strain gauge were recorded during fixation of specimens. To compare the difference among groups, repeated measures 2-factor analysis was performed at a level of significance of ${\alpha}$=.05. RESULTS. The absolute strain values were measured to analyze the magnitude of strain. The mean absolute strain value ranged from 29.53 to 412.94 ${\mu}m/m$ at the different strain gauge locations. According to the result of overall comparison, the cement-retained prosthesis groups exhibited significant difference. No significant difference was detected between milled screw-retained prostheses group and cement-retained prosthesis groups. CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of the study, it was concluded that the cement-retained designs do not always exhibit lower levels of stress than screw-retained designs. The internal adjustment of a cement-retained implant restoration is essential to achieve passive fit.

Communication occurs through verbal elements, which usually involve language, as well as non-verbal elements such as facial expressions, eye contact, and gestures. In particular, among these non-verbal elements, gestures are symbolic representations of physical, vocal, and emotional behaviors. This means that gestures can be signals toward a target or expressions of internal psychological processes, rather than simply movements of the body or hands. Moreover, gestures with such properties have been the focus of much research for a new interface in the NUI/NUX field. In this paper, we propose a method for recognizing the number of fingers and detecting the hand region based on the depth information and geometric features of the hand for application to an NUI/NUX. The hand region is detected by using depth information provided by the Kinect system, and the number of fingers is identified by comparing the distance between the contour and the center of the hand region. The contour is detected using the Suzuki85 algorithm, and the number of fingers is calculated by detecting the finger tips in a location at the maximum distance to compare the distances between three consecutive dots in the contour and the center point of the hand. The average recognition rate for the number of fingers is 98.6%, and the execution time is 0.065 ms for the algorithm used in the proposed method. Although this method is fast and its complexity is low, it shows a higher recognition rate and faster recognition speed than other methods. As an application example of the proposed method, this paper explains a Secret Door that recognizes a password by recognizing the number of fingers held up by a user.
