pH 진동계 안에서 pH 감응성 자기진동 IPN 하이드로젤의 합성과 분석 (Synthesis and Characterization of pH-sensitive and Self-oscillating IPN Hydrogel in a pH Oscillator)

  • A self-oscillating interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) poly(acrylic acid)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PAA/PEG) hydrogel was prepared by using radical polymerization with a two-step method. The IPN hydrogel was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and morphological analysis. The results indicated that the chains of PEG and PAA twined to form porous structure which is beneficial to water molecules entering inside of the hydrogel. In addition, the pH-responsive behavior, salt sensitivity, swelling/de-swelling oscillatory behaviors and self-oscillation in a closed pH oscillator were also studied. The results showed that the prepared hydrogel exhibited pH-sensitivity, good swelling/de-swelling reversibility and excellent salt sensitivity. The self-oscillating behavior of swelling/de-swelling for the prepared hydrogel was caused by pH alteration coupled with the external media. This study may create a new possibility as biomaterial including new self-walking actuators and other related devices.

A semispherical SQUID magnetometer system using high sensitivity double relaxation oscillation SQUIDs for magnetoencephalographic measurements

  • We designed and constructed a multichannel superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer system to measure magnetic fields from the human brain. We used a new type of SQUID, the double relaxation oscillation SQUID (DROS). With high flux-to-voltage transfers of the DROS, about 10 times larger than the dc SQUIDs, simple flux-locked loop circuits could be used for SQUID operation. Also the large modulation voltage of the DROS, typically being 100 $mutextrm{V}$, enabled stable flux-locked loop operation against the thermal offset voltage drift of the preamplifier. The magnetometers were fabricated using the Nb/AlOx/Nb junction technology. The SQUID system consists of 37 signal magnetometers, distributed on a semispherical surface, and 11 reference channels were installed to pickup background noises. External feedback was used to eliminate the magnetic coupling with the adjacent channels. The liquid helium dewar has a capacity of 29 L and boil-off rate of about 4 L/d with the total 48 channel insert. The magnetometer system has an average noise level of 3 fT/√Hz at 100 Hz, inside a shielded loon, and was applied to measure auditory-evoked fields.

증기발생기 유로홈막힘 사진판독 알고리즘 개발 (Development of the S/G TSP Clogging Image Analysis Algorithm)

  • The clogging of the flow area at the tube support plates(TSPs), especially at the upper TSPs results in the water level oscillation of a steam generator during normal operation. A reduction of the TSP flow area causes to increase in pressure drop within the two-phase flow zone, which destabilizes the boiling flow through the tube bundle. This phenomenon was occasionally observed at a few domestic and foreign nuclear power plants. One of the methods for defining the flow area clogging is visual inspection, which is the most effective inspection method. The results of the visual inspection for TSPs' flow area are clogging images on TSPs' quartrefoil lobes. These images are complexly distorted due to lens aberration and external factors like the distance to a subject and angle etc. In this work, we developed the analysis algorithm for clogging image of the TSP flow area of steam generators. For this purpose, we designed an image verification device applicable to the camera employed in the field for visual inspection and then, we demonstrated the validity of image analysis algorithm by using this device and commercial autoCAD program.

Experimental study on liquid sloshing with dual vertical porous baffles in a sway excited tank

  • Sloshing behavior of liquid within containers represents one of the most fundamental fluid-structure interactions. Liquid in partially filled tanks tends to slosh when subjected to external disturbances. Sloshing is a vicious resonant fluid motion in a moving tank. To understand the effect of baffle positioned at L/3 and 2L/3 location, a shake table experiments was conducted for different fill volumes of aspect ratio 0.163, 0.325 and 0.488. For a fixed amplitude of 7.5 mm, the excitation frequencies are varied between 0.457 Hz to 1.976 Hz. Wave probes have been located at both tank ends to capture the surface elevation. The experimental parameters such as sloshing oscillation and energy dissipation are discussed here. Comparison is done for with baffles and without baffles conditions. For both conditions, the results showed that aspect ratio of 0.163 gives better surface elevation and energy dissipation than obtained for aspect ratio 0.325 and 0.488. Good agreement is observed when numerical analysis is compared with the experiments results.

  • 하이브리드 로켓 연소에서 발생하는 산화제 난류 유동과 연료의 기화로 인한 분출유동 사이의 상호 간섭은 매우 복잡하고 특별한 유동 간섭을 일으킨다. 이를 연구하기 위하여 연소반응을 제외하고, 산화제의 난류 유동과 연료 벽면에서의 분출 유동을 모사한 채널 유동에 대한 LES 해석을 수행하였다. 고체추진 로켓의 연소 과정에서 관찰되는 현상과 매우 흡사하게 벽면 근처에서 특정주파수로 진동하는 유동 현상이 존재한다는 것을 확인하였고, 산화제와 분출 유동의 간섭에 기인한 유동의 진동현상은 벽면 근처의 매우 얇은 영역에서만 존재하였다. 큰 길이 스케일의 유동현상을 보여주는 압력 섭동장으로부터 채널 내 주유동이 특정 주파수 특성을 갖고 하류로 진행해 가는데, 이는 산화제 유동이 분출유동과 상호작용을 하면서 발생된 전단유동의 특성을 나타낸 것이다. 그러나 하이브리드 로켓 연소실 유동의 진동 특성은 고체 추진 로켓에서 관찰되는 유동 특성과는 달리, 진동의 강도가 벽면에서 온도 구배를 변화시켜 열전달의 향상을 발생시키기에는 충분하지 못한 것으로 보인다. 그러나 벽면 근처에서 특정 주파수 특성을 갖는 유동현상이 존재한다는 사실은 비슷한 크기의 주파수를 갖는 음향 가진과 같은 외부교란이 작용한다면 공진으로 발전할 수 있는 가능성을 의미한다.

배플 길이의 최적화를 위한 연소 안정성 평가 시험 (Stability Rating Tests for Optimization of Axial Baffle Length)

  • KSR-III 개발과정에서 배플을 장착하여 연소 불안정 현상을 해결한 바 있으나, 추력 및 냉각과 관련된 축방향 길이에 대한 최적화 과정을 거치지는 않았다. 이에 수동제어기구로서 사용되는 배플의 축방향 길이의 최적화 및 한계를 평가하기 위하여, 축방향 길이를 작동인자로 하여 연소 안정성 여분을 평가하였다. 외부 교란 발생 장치로서 2번의 기폭이 가능한 펄스건을 사용하였다. 외부 교란에 대한 연소실에서의 응답 특성을, 감쇠 시간과 진폭비와 같은 인자를 도입하여 정량화하였다. 설계점과 탈설계점에서 시험을 수행하였으며, 분사기의 충돌점으로 생각할 수 있는 화염 영역을 감싸지 못하는 경우에는 배플의 충분한 감쇠 능력을 보장할 수 없음을 확인하였다. 따라서 연소 안정성의 여분의 경계는 KSR-III에서의 작동조건 하에서 50 mm 정도의 배플인 것으로 판단되었다.

병진운동하는 사각형 유체저장탱크 내부의 슬로싱 특성 연구 (A Study on the Sloshing of the Rectangular Tank Partially Filled with Fluid Under Translational Motion)

  • The oscillation of the fluid caused by external motions is called sloshing, which occurs in moving vehicles with contained fluid masses, such as the oil tankers, railroad cars, aircraft and rockets. Natural frequencies of fluid are much lower than that of solid structures, and the deformation caused by the excitation that is less than 1st natural frequency of fluid is very large. For the reason of that, sloshing characteristics under the ekcitation that is less than the 1st natural frequency must be studied prior to the consideration of natural frequencies of fluid. The experimental devices are constructed to simulate the translation motion. The rectangular tanks are made to study the sloshing characteristics under external excitation. The changes of water height are measured using an analogue camcorder and MPEG board, and those are compared to each other through a standard deviation. From the results of experiments, the sloshing is greatly influenced by the length of the rectangular tank than the width of that under the periodic translational motion in the length direction. The rapid amplification of sloshing by resonance is also confirmed experimentally.

외부 공진기 레이저 구현을 위한 평면도파로 격자 제작 (Fabrication of gratings in Planar Lightwave Circuits for External Cavity Laser)

  • 평면도파로 (Planar Lightwave Circuits)를 수소처리한 후 격자를 제작하였다. 성장특성 분석 결과 격자는 거듭제곱식 (power law)에 따라서 성장되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 격자의 성장특성을 이용하여 외부 공진기 레이저용 평면도파로 격자를 설계하고 제작한 결과 예상치와 거의 일치하는 격자특성을 얻을 수 있었고, 제작된 격자로 구현된 외부 공진기 레이저에서 ∼40dB의 인접모드억압비(side mode suppression ratio)를 갖는 단일모드 발진을 관측할 수 있었다.

반응 표면 분석법을 활용한 자동차용 현가스프링 최적화 설계 (Optimal design of car suspension springs by using a response surface method)

  • When spring of the suspension is exerted by an external load, a car should be designed to prevent predictable damages and designed for a ride comfort. We used experiments design to design VON-MISES STRESS and K, a constant, of spring of suspension which is installed in a car as a goal level. We analyzed the result from Edison's Elastic - Plastic Analysis SW(CSD_EPLAST) by setting D, d, n as external diameter of coil, internal diameter of coil, the number of total coil respectively. The experiment design let the outcome be as Full-second order by using Box-Behnken which is one of response surface methods. Experimented and analyzed results based on the established experiments design, We found out design parameter which has desired VON-MISES STRESS and the constant K. Additionally, we predicted life time of when the external load was exerted by repeated load by using fatigue equation, and verification of plastic deformation has also been made. Additionally we interpreted a model, which is formed by optimized design parameter, with linear analysis and non-linear analysis, at the same time we also analyzed plastic deformation with the values from the both models. Finally, we predicted fatigue life of optimized model by using fatigue estimation theory and also evaluated a ride comfort with oscillation analysis.

SMPS 용 PWM IC 설계 (The study of PWM IC design for SMPS)

  • In this study, we design the one-chip PWM IC for SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) application. We determine the IC spec. and simulated each block of PWM IC (Reference, Error amp., Comparator, Oscillator) with Smart Spice (SILVACO Circuit Simulation Tool). Reference circuits generate constant voltage(5V) in the various of power supply and temperature condition. Error amp. is designed with large DC gain (${\simeq}65dB$), unity frequency (${\simeq}190kHz$) and large PM($75^{\circ}$).Saw tooth generators operate with 20K oscillation frequency (external resistor, capacitor).
