  • One of the major characteristics that affects the life of welded steel water pipes is the stress distribution caused by welding and external forces. Some studios have bean carried out on the residual stress of steel water pipes. But the results on the stress distributions by welding and complex external forces are rare, because real water pipes operate under the ground and many kinds of external forces act simultaneously on the joints. To understand the complex stress distributions of welded joints, therefore predictions by numerical or analytic methods are required. In this study, temperature and stress distributions in steel water pipes produced by welding are predicted by a three-dimensional finite element method(FEM). Based on these results, stress distributions by welding and complex external forces are evaluated by adopting the same numerical method. The influence of some post weld heat treatments on residual stress distributions is also investigated.

연안 지역의 복합 외력에 의한 침수 특성 분석 (Analysis on inundation characteristics by compound external forces in coastal areas)

  • 연안 지역은 강우, 조위, 월파 등 여러가지 외력에 의해 침수가 발생될 수 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 연안 지역에서 발생될 수 있는 단일 및 복합 외력에 의한 지역별 침수 특성을 분석하였다. 연구에서 고려한 외력은 강우와 폭풍 해일에 의한 조위 및 월파이고, 분석 대상지역은 남해안 및 서해안의 4개 지역이다. 유역의 강우-유출 및 2차원 지표면 침수 분석에는 XP-SWMM이 사용되었고, 폭풍 해일에 의한 외력인 조위 및 월파량 산정에는 ADCSWAN (ADCIRC와 UnSWAN) 모형과 FLOW-3D 모형이 각각 활용되었다. 단일 외력을 이용한 분석 결과, 대부분의 연안 지역에서는 강우에 의한 침수 영향보다 폭풍 해일에 의한 침수 영향이 크게 나타났다. 복합 외력에 의한 침수 분석 결과는 대체로 단일 외력에 의한 침수 모의결과를 중첩시켜 나타낸 결과와 유사하였다. 다만, 특정 지역에서는 복합 외력을 고려함에 따라 단일 외력만을 고려한 침수모의에서 나타나지 않았던 새로운 침수 영역이 발생하기도 하였다. 이러한 지역의 침수 피해 저감을 위해서는 복합 외력을 고려한 분석이 요구되는 것으로 판단되었다.

외부 가진력을 고려한 사판식 압축기 회전축-베어링계의 동적 거동 해석 (Dynamic Behavior Analysis of Rotor-Bearing System Under External Forces in Swash Plate Compressor)

  • The dynamic behavior of rotor-bearing system used in swash plate compressor has been investigated using the combined methodologies of finite elements and transfer matrices. The finite element is formulated including the field element for a shaft section and the point element for swash plate, disk pulley and bearings. The Houbolt method is used to consider the time march for the integration of the system equations. The transient whirl response of rotating shaft supported on roller bearings is obtained, considering compression forces and unbalance forces at swash plate and driving pulley. And, the steady state displacements of the rotor are compared with a variation in unbalance mass. Results show that the loci of rotating shaft considering unbalance forces and external compression forces are more severe in flutter motion than with only unbalance forces.

Analysis for Soil-Lug Interface Forces of a Lugged Wheel

  • A Lugged steel wheel was operated with two kinds of travel reduction on a sandy clay. " Small -sized transucers of the three-surfaced lug type " were installed to the wheel for the measurement of normal and tangential forces acting on a trailing lug side, lug face and a leading lug side separately . The external results acting on each surface were calculated from those measured forces. This results proved qualitatively that the relationships between external forces and lug surfaces obtained from mathematical analyses were external forces and lug surfaces obtained from mathematical analyses were correct. The traction, the motion resistance and the dynamic load were changing at the three lug surface under various operating conditions . Therefore, total analyses of three surface were indispensable to discuss the performance of the wheel lug.

Chaotic Behavior in a Dynamic Love Model with Different External Forces

  • In this paper, we propose a dynamic mathematical model of love involving various external forces, in order to analyze the chaotic phenomena in a love model based on Romeo and Juliet. In addition, we investigate the nonlinear phenomena in a love model with external forces using time series and phase portraits. In order to describe nonlinear phenomena precisely using time series and phase portraits, we vary the type of external force, using models such as a sine wave, chopping wave, and square wave. We also apply various different parameters in the Romeo and Juliet model to acquire chaotic dynamics.

저수호안에 작용하는 외력에 의한 안정성분석 (Stability Analysis of Low Flow Revetments on External Forces)

  • 저수호안에 작용하는 외력들 중에서 유수에 의한 소류력과 항행하는 선박에 의한 항주파는 호안의 안정성에 가장 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있는 항목들이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 외력들에 대해 호안의 안정성을 분석하였다. 분석대상지역은 서울시의 한강인공호안을 생태녹지공간으로 조성하는 시험시공구간이다. RMA-2모형을 이용하여 계산된 유속을 사용하여 소류력을 산정하고, 안정성은 대상구간에 대해 계산한 계산소류력과 호안재료의 허용소류력을 비교하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 측점 93의 200년빈도 계산소류력이 허용소류력을 초과하여 이 지점은 수리적안정성이 확보되지 않는 지점으로 판단할 수 있었다. 2007년 8월 10일의 강우에 대해서는 전구간에서 계산소류력이 허용소류력보다 작게 모의되었다. 따라서 소류력에 대해서는 안정하다고 판단할 수 있으나 부분적으로 호안이 침수된 부분에 세굴이 발생한 이유는 시공후 식생이 활착할 시간이 부족한 상태에서 작은 소류력에 대해서도 세굴이 발생하였으며, 항주파 등의 다른 외력과 중첩되어 발생하였다고 생각된다. 한강을 운행하는 한강유람선과 수상택시에 의해 발생하는 항주파를 계산하였으며 이를 이용하여 호안에 미치는 파력을 산정하여 호안재료에 따른 지지력과 비교하였다. 그 결과 한강을 운항하는 선박들이 호안에 미치는 외력은 허용지지력보다 매우 작은 값으로 판단되므로 호안은 항주파에 대해서는 안정하다고 판단할 수 있으나 소류력 등의 다른 외력과 동시에 작용할 경우소류력 등의 다른 외력과 동시에 작용할 경우에는 복합적인 외력을 고려해야 할 것이다.

매립장 사면에 설치된 토목섬유의 설계 인장강도 산정 (Design Forces Acting on Geosynthetics in Landfills)

  • This paper presents measured deformation of geomembrane installed on slopes of a landfill. The layout of geosynthetics installed on landfill slopes as required by regulations is composed of, in typical, geocomposite, geomembrane, geosynthetic clay liner in turn from the slope. An effort was made to better understand the sources of external forces acting on geosynthetics and their interactions. The results of a field observation indicated that tensile stresses induced on geomebrane were far less in magnitude than predicted by the design method employing mass equilibrium of waste. This was mainly because external forces acting on slopes were not transferred from geocomposite to underlying geomembrane. A simple, but rather rational method for assessing the stability of geosynthetics against tensile stresses was proposed. This method is based on a hypothesis that external forces acting on geosynthetics are the results of downdrag of waste during waste compaction.

구조동역학 해석 시 유체유동에 의한 외력을 고려하는 방법에 관한 연구 (Study on a Method of Considering the Fluid Induced External Force in Structural Dynamic Analysis)

  • A method of considering the fluid induced external force in structural dynamic analysis is presented in this study. The fluid induced pressure distribution around a structure in discrete number of orientation. and velocity is calculated by using a CFD code and tabulated as resultant forces and moments in a database. These forces and moments are interpolated and employed as external forces during the dynamic analysis of structure. The reliability and usefulness of the present method is validated by using a simple discrete system example through transient analysis. The flutter speed is obtained and compared to the analytical solution. Comparing to the method in which structural dynamic and fluid flow analyses are performed simultaneously, the present method is very efficient to save computational effort.

  • In offshore, various external forces such as wind force, wave force and impulsive breaking wave force act on offshore structures. Many researches about this forces are published. Kim and Cao(2008) published researche on wave force of vertical cylinder. Kim and Go(2013) performed research on the subgrade reaction by external forces. Among this forces, impulsive breaking force is more massive than other forces, especially. Therefore, the studies about impulsive breaking wave forces have been carried out. Chun and Shim(1999) analyzed dynamic behavior of cylindrical pile subjected to impulsive breaking wave force. In this study, when the impulsive breaking wave force acts on the offshore wind turbine, the subgrade reaction acting on the mono-pile of the offshore wind turbine is calculated by p-y curve. The calculation is carried out to the multi-layered.

The assessment of Safe Navigation Regarding Hydrodynamic forces between ships in Restricted Waterways

  • This paper is primarily focused on the safe navigation between overtaking and overtaken vesselsin restricted waterways under the external forces, such as wind and current. The maneuvering simulation between two ships was conducted to find an appropriate safe speed and distance, which is required to avoid collision. From the viewpoint of marine safety, a greater transversedistance between two ships is more needed for the smaller vessel. Regardless of external forces, the smaller vessel will get a greater effect of hydrodynamic forces than the higher one. In the case of close navigation between ships under the forces of wind and current, the vessel moving at a lower speed is potentially hazardous because the rudder force of the lower speed vessel is not sufficient for steady-state course-keeping, compared to that of the higher speed vessel.
