Development of a Robot Performance System Employing a Motion Database (모션데이터베이스를 이용한 로봇공연시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient Robot Performance System (RPS). For the proposed system, a soundboard was developed and inserted into the body of a humanoid robot to enable audio playback without an external playback device; the hardware required to enable the external storage device within the soundboard to remember the sound sources necessary for performances was developed. Furthermore, a specialized performance scenario planning software called Robot Performance Planning Development Program (RPPDP) was developed to allow users to search through a motion database for the robot's default motions, applied motions, and motions for special circumstances, allowing anyone to plan a robot performance at a low cost in a short amount of time.

Hot Rolling Properties of Non-combustible AZ31-xCa Magnesium Alloys (난연성 AZ31-xCa 마그네슘합금의 열간압연 특성)

  • In this study, the effects of Ca content and processing variables on hot rolling properties of gravity cast AZ31-xCa alloys were evaluated systematically. The number and length of side crack were decreased with increasing preheating temperature and decreasing reduction ratio per pass and Ca content. The UTS and YS were not strongly dependent on the Ca content but the elongation decreased with increasing Ca content. The decrease of elongation in Ca containing alloys was least when the sheets were fabricated under preheating temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ and reduction ratio per pass of $15\%$. The sheets had the sound external features with little side cracks by homogenization of gravity cast AZ31-xCa alloys before hot rolling. In the cases of AZ31-xCa alloys containing under $1wt.\%$ Ca, the annealed sheets after homogenization and hot rolling had the similar tensile properties to those of AZ31 sheet.

Hemifacial Transplantation Model in Rats

  • Background: To refine facial transplantation techniques and achieve sound results, it is essential to develop a suitable animal model. Rat is a small animal and has many advantages over other animals that have been used as transplantation models. The purpose of this study was to describe a rat hemifacial transplantation model and to verify its convenience and reproducibility. Methods: Animals used in this study were Lewis rats (recipients) and Lewis-Brown Norway rats (donors). Nine transplantations were performed, requiring 18 animals. The hemifacial flap that included the ipsilateral ear was harvested based on the unilateral common carotid artery and external jugular vein and was transferred as a single unit. Cyclosporine A therapy was initiated 24 hours after transplantation and lasted for 2 weeks. Signs of rejection responses were evaluated daily. Results: The mean transplantation time was 1 hour 20 minutes. The anatomy of common carotid artery and external jugular vein was consistent, and the vessel size was appropriate for anastomosis. Six of nine allografts remained good viable without vascular problems at the conclusion of study (postoperative 2 weeks). Conclusion: The rat hemifacial transplantation model is suitable as a standard transplantation training model.

To stimulate inner acoustic meatus, obstruct external acoustic meatus for a short time by the palm or fingers and then to stimulate it by the sudden opening. 3. This method is a common way to press aurical or orifice of external acoustic meatus for example, TE21(耳門), TE20(角孫), GB2(聽會), TE19(노息), TE18(계脈), GB11(竅陰), TE17(예風) etc. 4. The best time to pratice is early in the morning or before go to bed, but a litter difference by the writer's opinion, so there is not consistency. 5. Since tinnitus and hardness of hearing is related to the who1e body, it is known that you can relax your whole body by pressing the acupuncture points located in the head of occipital region or by stretching the upper half of the body. 6. There is method that obstruct your ears with palms and 3rd finger on your occipital region and splash by the 2th fingers.(sound the celestial drum)

Performance Characteristics of a 50-kHz Split-beam Data Acquisition and Processing System (50 kHz Split Beam 데이터 수록 및 처리 시스템의 성능특성)

  • The directivity characteristics of acoustic transducers for conventional single-beam echo sounders considerably limit the detection of fish-size information in acoustic field surveys. To overcome this limitation, using the split-aperture technique to estimate the direction of arrival of single-echo signals from individual fish distributed within the sound beam represents the most reliable method for fish-size classification. For this purpose, we design and develop a split-beam data acquisition and processing system to obtain fish-size information in conjunction with a 50-kHz single-beam echo sounder. This split-beam data acquisition and processing system consists of a notebook PC, a field-programmable gate array board, an external single-transmitter module with a matching network, and four-channel receiver modules operating at a frequency of 50-kHz. The functionality of the developed split-beam data processor is tested and evaluated. Acoustic measurements in an experimental water tank showed that the developed data acquisition and processing system can be used as a fish-sizing echo sounder to estimate the size distribution of individual fish, although an external single-transmitter module with a matching network is required.

A Study on the Direction of the Development of Hearable Devices for Seniors -Focusing on Wireless Earphones- (시니어를 위한 히어러블 디바이스 개발 방향성 연구 -무선 이어폰을 중심으로-)

  • This study aimed to evaluate the user experience of hearable devices for seniors and suggest possible development directions. A literature review, case study, and in-depth interviews were conducted. Based on the literature review, convenience, accessibility, transmissibility, wearability, aesthetics, and interest were determined as the user experience factors of hearable devices. Then, in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 participants aged 60 or older regarding four devices. Participants tried four different types of wireless earphones which were selected based on a case study: open-type, kernel-type, neckband-type, and earring-type. Regarding convenience, the participants preferred to carry small devices and regarding accessibility, participants responded positively for most product types. For transmissibility and wearability, there were differences depending on whether devices were put on correctly, but the participants preferred products that did not wholly block external sounds. For aesthetics, participants preferred small and cutting-edge designs. Interest was noticeable among those who had not used the devices before, and for stability, the neckband-type was the most preferred. Based on the results we suggest designing small cutting-edge designs and button-type assist devices, not blocking the external sound, providing a participation program, simplifying device functions, and establishing a method that can be combined with and stored in clothes and a delivery method that can signal danger.

Resonance Changes in the External Auditory Canal Associated with the Ear Canal Volume (외이도용적에 따른 외이도공명의 변화)

  • The external ear generates resonance gain because of anatomical characteristics. The ear canal resonance is influenced by the length and volume of the ear canal, the pinna, the concha cavity, the body trunk, and the speed of sound wave. This study is focus on the influence of the volume of ear canal. 17-healthy-adult (32 ears) were participated. They did not have any medical and ear disease history. The maximum resonance frequency of the ear canal was 2675 (${\pm}265$) Hz at azimuth $0^{\circ}$ and 2784 (${\pm}268$) Hz at azimuth $45^{\circ}$. The resonance gain was 18.1 (${\pm}3.9$) dB at azimuth $0^{\circ}$ and 17.9 (${\pm}3.8$) dB at azimuth $45^{\circ}$, respectively. The ear canal volume was 0.78 (${\pm}0.2$) cc and 1.32 (${\pm}0.8$) cc including static compliance. The ear canal resonance was changed depending on the ear canal volume. It was also statistically correlated at azimuth $0^{\circ}$ (p=0.038) and $45^{\circ}$ (p=0.013), respectively. The resonance gain was not correlated with the ear canal volume. The change of resonance frequency according to the ear canal volume will be useful information in the field of audiological rehabilitation especially for hearing aids fitting. In addition, we expected this study can provide the basic information for the study of the external ear resonance characteristics.

Design of Small Acoustic Filter for ITE Type Noise Protector (ITE 타입의 소음 차폐기용 소형 음향 필터의 설계)

  • The prevention of noise induced hearing loss is very important, because there is no treatment for it. There are some kinds of devices for hearing protection, and those are effective in preventing a noise induced hearing loss. However, people often resist the use of hearing protection devices because it is difficult to have a conversation. Therefore, a hearing protection device is must effective not only in hearing protection but also in preserving communication ability. In this paper, we proposed a small acoustic filter for ITE type noise protector to solving the problem about the difficulties of conversation. That is applied a principle of acoustic filters that have been used for a muffler of automobiles, guns, and etc. To find out the sound transmission characteristic at the eardrum, we regarded an acoustic filter and external ear canal as a coupled system. So, we simulated the coupled system with OrCad, and experimented with a designed acoustic filter and a 2 cc coupler which has the same transmission characteristic as the external ear canal has. We confirmed that it is possible to adjustment acoustic transmission characteristics through simulation of electrical model for acoustic filter and external ear and experiments using designed small acoustic filters.

A Clinical Case Study on the Tinnitus with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (돌발성 난청을 동반한 이명 환자 1례에 대한 증례보고)

  • Tinnitus is noise from ear or head without any external sound stimulation and can cause hearing difficulties, psychologenic disturbances or many difficulties in everyday life. the etiology has yet been discussed and the management is also very difficult. Sensorineural hearing loss is defined as a sudden hearing impairment which was develope over a period of hours to days. I report one tinnitus case which accompanied with sudden sensorineural hearing loss. In the early and acute stage which judged as Dam-Wha, herbal treatment with Tong-myeong-ri-gi-tang was efficacious on the tinnitus. In the convalescent stage and judged as Sin-heo, herbal treatment with Ja-sin-tong-i-tang was efficacious on the tinnitus that accompanied with sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

An Acoustic Analysis of Noise Environments during Mobile Device Usage

  • In contemporary modern society, people are constantly exposed to many kinds of noise, such as that from machinery, aircraft, construction sites, or road traffic. Noise is considered one of the most indispensable and influential parts of human life. This study investigates the acoustic characteristics of noise transfer from external sources to the human ear. For this study, we measured and analyzed various types of noise environments, installed monitoring speakers in a semi-anechoic room, and conducted intentional noise-filled experiments. In this environment, the size of the sounds generated by use of a portable device was also measured and the SNR (signal to noise ratio) calculated to study the influence of the noise. As sound is transmitted to the ear and the human body, it affects not only auditory damage but also other parts of the body. In this paper, we propose a proper SNR for noise emitted by portable IT equipment to prevent hearing loss when IT equipment is used.
