  • In current role-based systems, security officers handle assignments of users to roles. This may increase management efforts in a distributed environment because of the continuous involvement from security officers. The role-based delegation provides a means for implementing RBAC in a distributed environment. The basic idea of a role-based delegation is that users themselves may delegate role authorities to other users to carry out some functions on behalf of the former. This paper presents a user-level delegation model, which is based on Extended Role-Based Access Control(ERBAC). ERBAC provides finer grained access control on the base of subject and object level than RBAC model.

  • This paper propose an extended model for role-permission assignment based on locations called "Enhanced Role-Based Access Control (ERBAC03)". The proposed model is built upon the well-known RBAC model. Assigning permissions to role is considered too complex activity to accomplish directly. Instead we advocate breaking down this process into a number of steps. The concept of jobs and tasks is specifically introduced to facilitate role-permission assignment into a series of smaller steps. This model is suitable for any large organization that has many branches. Each branch consists of many users who work in difference roles. An administration tool has been developed to assist administrators with the administration of separation of duty requirements. It demonstrates how the specification of static requirements can be done based on "conflicting entities" paradigm. Static separation of duty requirements must be enforced in the administration environment. Finally, we illustrate how the ERBAC03 prototype is used to administer the separation of duty requirements.

  • RBAC(Role based Access Control) is effective way of managing user's access to information object in enterprise level and e-government system. The concept of RBAC is that the access right to object in a system is not directly assigned o users but assigned by being a member of a role which is defined in a organization. RBAC is utilized for controling access range of privacy but it does not support the personal legal right of control over information and right of limited access to the self. Nor it contains the way of observation of privacy flow that is guided in a legal level. In this paper, extended RBAC model for protecting privacy will be suggested and discussed. Two components of Data Right and Assigning Data Right are added to existed RBAC and the definition of each component is redefined in aspect of privacy preservation. Data Right in extended RBAC represents the access right to privacy data. This component provides the way of control over who can access which privacy and ensures limitation of access quantity of privacy. Based on this extended RBAC, implemented examples are presented and the evaluation is discussed by comparing existed RBAC with extended RBAC.

  • RBAC(Role Based Access Control) is an access control method based on the application concept of role instead of DAC(Discretionary Access Control) or MAC(Mandatory Access Control) based on the abstract basic concept. Model provides more flexibility and applicability on the various computer and network security fields than the limited 1functionality of kernel access control orginated from BLP model. In this paper, we propose $ERBAC_0$ (Extended $RBAC_0$ ) model by considering subject's and object's roles and the role hierarchy result from the roles additionally to $RBAC_0$ base model. The proposed $ERBAC_0$ model assigns hierarchically finer role on the base of subject and object level and provides flexible access control services than traditional $RBAC_0$ model.

  • Role-based Access Control (RBAC) model appears to be the most appropriate technique for access control to minimize the errors likely to occur in managing users and network resources. In this paper, we introduced the Work-concept RBAC model that is the result of the Work concept imported to the role based access control model. Using our extended access control model a user could select a work which is more abstract and more inclusive concept than role to do his work. Additionally even if the user has an authority through selecting a work, if a user has no relation to his assigned job, it will be automatically prohibited.

  • Information technology is being applied to the development of ubiquitous healthcare system, which provides both efficient patient care and convenient treatment regardless of patient's location. However, the increasing number of users and medical information give rise to the problem of user management and the infringement of privacy. In order to address this problem we propose a user access scheme based on the RBAC (Role Based Access Control) model. The preceding trust management model for Grid security, FAS(Federation Agent Server), was analyzed and extended to provide supplementary functions for role-based access control in u-Healthcare system. The RBAC model provides efficient user management and access control, but very vulnerable in case when one with valid role tries to leak confidential inner medical information. In order to resolve this problem, a RBAC-WS (Work Status with RBAC) model has been additionally developed which allows only qualified staffs to access the system while on duty. Th proposed RBAC and RBAC-WS model have been merged together and applied to the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

  • Grid technologies make it possible for IT resources to be shared across organizational and security domains. The traditional identity-based access control mechanisms are unscalable and difficult to manage. Thus, we propose the FAS (Federation Agent Server) model which is composed of three modules: Certificate Conversion Module (CCM), Role Decision Module (RDM), and Authorization Decision Module (ADM). The proposed FAS model is an extended Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model which provides resource access capabilities based on roles assigned to the users. FAS can solve the problem of assigning multiple identities to a shared local name in grid-map file and mapping the remote entity's identity to a local name manually.

  • In home network environments, the user authentication and authorization associated user's information and usability may be important security issue. The OSGi service platform, a well-known home network gateway already specifies the mechanism of that. The traditional authority method provided OSGi implements simple RBAC(Role Based Access Control) model. This is difficult to support efficient access control. In this paper, we propose the dynamic RBAC model based on OSGi. The proposed method describes the extended framework that manage two roles named as absolute role and relative role, extend existed framework with relative role and propose programming model to enable dynamic access control. Finally, we implement the proposed framework using AspectJ and Java annotation.

  • Role-based access control (RBAC) models are recently receiving considerable attention as a generalized approach to access control. In line with the increase in applications that deal with spatial data. an advanced RBAC model whose entities and constraints depend on the characteristics of spatial data is required. Even if some approaches have been proposed for geographic information systems. most studies focus on the location of users instead of the characteristics of spatial data. In this paper. we extend the traditional RBAC model in order to deal with the characteristics of spatial data and propose new spatial constraints. We use the object-oriented modeling based on open GIS consortium geometric model to formalize spatial objects and spatial relations such as hierarchy relation and topology relation. As a result of the formalization for spatial relations. we present spatial constraints classified according to the characteristics of each relation. We demonstrate our extended-RBAC model called OOGIS-RBAC and spatial constraints through case studies. Finally. we compare our OOGIS-RBAC model and the DAC model in the management of access control to prove the efficiency of our model.
