This article aims to research and analyze expressional characteristics of media art in Hussein Chalayan's fashion works. Media technology has made rapid progress over every society, in which it enables multi-dimensional communication. Under this social background, media art can use a multiplicity of technologies and go public. Media art had great influences in fashion with the leading designer as Hussein Chalayan. His works has been selected from the 90s up until 2008 focusing on expressional characteristics of media art by a professional group of fashion design. By classifying and analyzing of Hussein Chalayan's fashion works, expressional characteristics of media art displayed from works of the late 90s, and in recent years, the use of various technologies has increased. Expressional characteristics of media art in his works have been re-classified as interactivity, transfonnation, visualization, and transparency. First, interactivity by the wearer's action and emotional change is effective on emotional express, body protection and the causing of interest. Second, transfonnation by the wearer's action, functioning, and emotional change is influenced by convenience, body protection, and causing concern. Third, immateriality in media art is divided into visualization and transparency, and in fashion structural and material characteristics. Visualization by internal luminous source and digital images influences immersion and expression on fantasy images. Fourth, transparency by immaterial characteristics and piled up images affects openness and camouflage. Development of material and technology paves the way for expressional characteristics of media art in fashion. The trend of Hussein Chalayan's works moves towards emotional high-tech design with technology.

The study is intended to clarify the ideologies and principles applied to the formative expression of church architecture which is contained both the God and human. Iconography as the relation between described target and the meaning as meaning analysis especially emphasized since the religious reason in religious art. Iconography is the area of discussing rules and habits and involved in the pieces of transition from the piece of experience obtained by sensing to the one of the ethical structure. N. L. Prak who apply meaning theory of E. Panofsky who distinguish between iconography and iconology clear relation of mental foundation which characteristics of shape of art and its concretion in architecture categorized the shape of meaning in three steps. Among them, conscious symbol and unconscious symbol correspond to iconography and iconology of Panofsky respectively. The symbol is mainly showed in religious architecture and is not related to simple practical architecture. Such symbol system can be important discussion objects in modern church architecture and necessary expressional system for expressional characteristics.

Various and complex cultural phenomena have led to many changes in the space. The concept of unconsciousness, among others, and experimental expression technique and the concepts from surrealism that rather attaches great importance to contingency than intentional attempt have been employed in the space. The abstract expression as expressional characteristics of surrealism makes the space ambiguous through the concept of automatism using the approach of indeterminism and double image expression, and represents the space providing diversity through the dualism. In contrast, objective expression, which was based on depaysement, generates the tension and expresses the dramatic situation in such a way and manner which are intentional, distorted transformed, together with heterogenous meanings aligned through the reversal appeared in the techniques of collage and paranoiac-critical method. However if such space accommodating the expressional characteristics of surrealism is approached as superficial concept in analyzing the human's inner consciousness and imaginary society, expression of the ultimate concept contained in the expressional characteristics of surrealism can hardly be achieved. Hence, the spatial analysis from the semiotic approach, instead of unilateral method aimed to convey the meaning only, which creates the signification, was adopted. The study, as effective approach to the space accommodating the expressional characteristics of surrealism, was intended systematically evaluate the concreteness of understanding and generation of meaning through the semiotic method. Greimas' semiotic square analysis to the space plays the important role in generating the spatial meaning, as well as is needed for objective analysis of the importance of various characteristics and methodology which the space contains through the expressional characteristics of surrealism.

Considering the established research about the characteristics of traditional expression in a contemporary korean architecture, there are two critical problems. the one is that the extent of a case is limited to a public building and a large exhibition building. the other is that the angle of research focus on the viewpoint of specific a level. To settle these problems and supplement a established research, this study is to investigate and analyze the characteristics of popular traditional expression in small commercial buildings. In A viewpoint on the expansion of a case and a various angle, A small commercial buildings is selected as a case. because it is felt that the populace's taste vis-a-vis traditional expression. To investigate and analyze, A main analytic criterion is follows. 1) A expressional method on traditional architectural form 2) A expressional aspect by architectural element 3) A expressional aspect in architectural material 4) A expressional aspect in architectural structure. In consequence we can find out the following results in the process of analysis. 1) In expressional method on traditional architectural form, the traditional expression is represented as the imitation and transformation of a traditional folk house forms, and the embodiment of traditional image 2) In expressional aspect by architectural element, the traditional expression elements is mainly represented at a straw roof and a mud-plastered wall 3) the traditional expression material is mainly straw, timber, small wood boards and mud 4) In expressional aspect in architectural structure, the traditional expression is represented from the viewpoint of decorative expression.

The study is Intended to clarify the ideologies and principles applied to the formative expression of church architecture which is contained both the God and human. After modern times, from the result of study of modern architectural movement, all of architectural ideology have not been developed with the church architecture. Some of architectural concept have been the foundation of modern church architecture. Among them, focusing the area which is developed the form of the church architecture wish the regional architectural expression -America, Northern Europe and Latin America - the expressional characteristics have derived that the church architecture have specific characteristics by the analysis of the characteristics from the influence of the regionalism. After all, regionalism-church architecture which describes recognized and behavioral organism and recognize the kind of the regional tradition and show regionalized formation shows the expressional characteristics of modern church architecture.

In the present architectural culture of Korea, the expression of Korean values and the contemporary trends of global architectures are not identified and arranged distinctly, so diverse tendencies are applied to the architectures of Korea recklessly. In this situation, minimal architecture is significant, which pursues the essence of architecture through the minimal materials. This thesis analyzes the characteristics of minimal architecture seeking after the essence of architecture by minimalization and examines Seung, Hyosang's architectures showing expressional traits similar to those of minimal architecture in the modem architectures of Korea, so this study can show the expressional characteristics and materials of minimal architecture. Nevertheless, it does not mean that all the Seung, Hyosang's works have the tendency of minimal architecture and that he has to be classified as a minimal architect, but it means only that the values and thoughts like the expressional traits of minimal architecture are seen in his architectural opinions! and works, which will be the subject of this study.

This study is intended to clarify the ideologies and principles applied to the formative expression of church architecture which is contained both the God and human. From the result of study of modern architectural movement, all of architectural ideology have not been developed with the church architecture. Some of architectural concept have been the foundation of modern church architecture. From the point of view of theological aspects of Christianism, in church architecture which is hard to overcome the adherence of historical characteristics, especially nationalism which contain all the concepts and try the localization of church architecture play multi-functional roles to form expressional characteristics of the modern church architecture show harmonize to the modern architecture trend. The study is intended to clarify the nationalism-church architecture and to know the capability of our cases.

With the increased quality of life, the meaning of houses is shifting from a functional space for the simple purpose of residing to a symbolic space representing life as personality. Starting with the advancement of IKEA into Korea last year, global brands are about to enter into Korea. As Korean brands are not certain about how to set their direction in the situation where global brands have rushed into the market, it was thought that a key to solve the problem could be found from the cases of the lifestyle stores of Japan, which is moving one step ahead of Korea. Considering the circumstances, the author limited the subjects of this study to the lifestyle stores that have already established their brand identity and have prominent expressional characteristics of interior design in Japan. Research and analysis were conducted through site inspection and books. As a study method, literature and previous research were reviewed to find the program characteristics of interactivity and participation, the spatial characteristics of accessibility and the expressional characteristics of symbolism, scene continuity and function complexity, as the basis for an analysis. The results of the analysis showed that Japanese lifestyle stores are appealing to consumers as the spaces with their own differentiated space composition and various programs, by establishing their unique concepts and explicit brand identity. It is expected that such expressional characteristics of interior design will be of help in defining the direction of interior design of Korean lifestyle stores in the future.

This study aims to show the present status of the expressions in the contemporary architecture in Kore under its pluralistic and equivocal situation. Non-residential buildings constructed since 1960 till 1997 have been analyzed focused on the rationality romantic property and koreanity which are the expressional aspects and its expressional characteristics in contermporary architecture in Korea such as the properties of the quasi-thematic approach limitary subsistence unexisting common ownership mixed copy and normative diversity have been grasped. These results prove that the common features after Modernism such as the restoration of humanity search for the architectural forms of plural meaning the pursuit for the regionality are also applied for the expressions of the contemporary architecture in Korea, Also this study can be the attempt to clarity the identity of the contemporary architecture in Korea and where it is now.

In contemporary urban space, the identify is absent because of the object-oriented plans that ignore the context of urban space, and the ignorance of the regional characteristics and the historicity of places. Due to this reason, urban space lost its unique characteristics and becomes a mismatch with its surroundings. To solve these problems, the ideological trend of post-modernism emerged and new spatial paradigm rose based on the contextual concept to go with this trend. This contextual concept should be considered more importantly in the public space with discontinuous many and unspecified behavioral patterns. The components of space do not exist independently with individual identity. They should be considered based on a holistic view formed by the relations among elements and the establishment of those relations, and through this, correct identity can be established. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the context of spatial components through new contextual views on public spaces and study the expressional characteristics unveiled between these relations.
