In this paper we compare linear and non-linear inter-ference cancellation for systems employing code division multi-ple access (CDMA) techniques. Specifically, we examine linear and non-linear parallel interference cancellation(also called multi-stage cancellation) in relationship to other multiuser detection al-gorithms. We show the explicit relationship between parallel inter-ference cancellation and the decorrelator (or direct matrix inver-sion). This comparison gives insight into the performance of paral-lel interference cancellation (PIC) and leads to vetter approaches. We also show that non-linear PIC approaches with explicit chan-nel setimation can provide performance improvement over linear PIC, especially when using soft non-linear symbol estimates. The application of interference cancellation to non-linear modulation techniques is also presented along with a discussion on minimum mean-squared error(MMSE) symbol estimation techniques. These are shown to further improve the performance of parallel cancella-tion.

A fixed-strike lookback option is an option whose payoff is determined by the maximum (or minimum) price of the underlying asset within the option's life. Under the Black-Scholes framework, the time-t price of an equity asset follows a geometric Brownian motion. Applying the method of Esscher transforms, this paper will derive explicit pricing formulas for fixed-strike lookback call and put options, respectively. In addition, this paper will show a relationship (duality property) between the pricing formulas of the call and put options. Finally, this paper will derive explicit pricing formulas for the fixed-strike lookback options when their underlying asset pays dividends continuously at a rate proportional to its price.

This paper presents possible defects when welded blank hydroforming and focus on wrinkling, and the die design to prevent this defect An explicit finite element code, PAM-STAMP, is used to simulate welded blank hydroforming process. The numerical results are compared to the experimental results in the aspect of deformed shape. An automobile subframe is taken as an example to carry out finite element analysis.

In this paper, we propose an efficient collision-free path planning method of two cooperating robot manipulators grasping a common object rigidly. For given two robots and an object, the procedure is described which constructs the reduced dimensional configuration space by the kinematic analysis of two cooperating robot manipulators. A path planning algorithm without explicit representation of configuration obstacles is also described. The primary steps of the algorithm is as follows. First, we compute a graph which represents the skeleton of the free configuration space. Second, a connection between an initial and a goal configuration to the graph is searched to find a collision-free path.

The attitude error is expressed using four kinds of quaternion errors. And the explicit relation equations between them are derived four kinds of nonlinear error models of SDINS using the their explicit relation are also proposed for a nonlinear filter which may be available for a system in the presence of a large attitude error the concept of the proposed nonlinear error model is applied to the velocity aided SDINS using a linear Kalman filter and an extended Kalman filter the simulation results reveal a improvement of performance using the nonlinear error model.

In this paper, ATM network congestion control with explicit rate feedback is considered. In ATM networks, delays commonly appear in data transmission and have to be considered in congestion control design. In this paper, a bounded single round delay on the return path is considered. Our objective is to design an explicit rate feedback control that achieves a robust optimal $H_2$ performance regardless of the bounded time-varying delays. An optimization approach in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is given. Saturation in source rate and queue buffer is also taken into consideration in the proposed design. Simulations for the cases of single source and multiple sources are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the design.

A model of a cable comprising interacting wires with dry friction forces at the interfaces is subjected to a quasi-static cyclic loading. The first cycle of this process, comprising of axial loading, unloading and reloading is investigated analytically. Explicit load-elongation relationships are obtained for all of the above phases of the cycle. An expression for the hysteretic losses is also obtained in an explicit form. It is shown that losses are proportional to the third power of the amplitude of the oscillating axial force, and are in inverse proportion to the interwire friction forces. The results obtained are used to introduce a model of a cable as a solid rod with an equivalent stiffness and damping properties of the rod material. It is shown that the stiffness of the equivalent rod is weakly nonlinear, whereas the viscous damping coefficient is proportional to the amplitude of the oscillation. Some numerical results illustrating the effect of cable parameters on the losses are given.

ATM 네트워크에서 대역폭의 효율적인 사용을 위한 두개의 QOS 베어러서비스의 실현으로 여러 가지 우선권 할당 버퍼접근 메카니즘이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문은 익스플리싯(explicit) 우선권 할당메카니즘의 3상태 이산 시간 마코프 프로세스를 갖는 성능 모델을 제안하고 셀 손실률을 해석적으로 유도한다. EH한 부분 버퍼 공유 방법을 사용하는 보다 유연성있는 공간 우선권 제어 메카니즘을 소스의 버스트니스와 셀 손실률만에서 연구하고 시뮬레이션으로 검증한다.

A continuous, explicit drain-current equation for short-channel double-gate (DG) MOSFETs has been derived based on the explicit surface potential equation. The model is physically derived from Poisson's equation in each region of operation and adopted in the unified regional approach. The proposed model has been verified with numerical solutions, physically scalable with channel length and gate/oxide materials as well as oxide/channel thicknesses.

A conceptual framework, based on a curriculum model of family life education content, and on a schema for analyzing explicit use of theory, was developed to discern the substantive themes of programs and the role of theories in publications on programs for families in the Korean family studies literature. Seventy two journal articles published between 1990 and 2002 were analyzed. The results revealed that the Korean family life education programs dealt with the breadth of topics, but most particularly internal family dynamics and interpersonal relationships, and utilized theoretical concepts as input and output in a different level: explicit, implicit, or no use of theories. Implications for future research and practice in Korean family life education are discussed, including gaps in the substantive foci of programs, and aligning programs more closely with theory.
