This study sought to find out the level of perception of the effect on women's physical, mental, socio-culture health of the artificial abortion. The research design was a descriptive correlational study and selected by convenient sampling. The subjects were 510 female and male adults who live in Seoul, Korea. Data were collected from 20th September, 1999 to 28th October, 1999. The data were analyzed through the SPSS program by use of frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test as a post hoc contrast, $x^2$-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. The results of the study are as follows. 1. The subject who experienced artificial abortion was 24.3% and 468% of these had experienced repeated artificial abortion. 54.4% was using the contraceptives and there was a significant difference in the contraceptives between that women wish to use and that women are really using. 2. For the opinion on the artificial abortion, 77.3% of respondents was pro-abortionists and the most acceptable reasons of pro-choice were" In case of unmarried" and "For the women's health". 3. On the whole, the subjects perceived that artificial abortion had a negative effect on the women's health, especially, on the women's mental health. Among the items, 'guilty feeling about the baby' was the highest. 4. The related factors to the level of perception of the effect on women's health of the artificial abortion were in sex, age, occupational status, marital status, educational level, the number of children, abortion history, contraceptives women use, the frequency of the consideration on the problem of artificial abortion and the position toward abortion such as pro or anti. The main influencing factors on the level o0f perception were artificial abortion history, occupational status and the frequency of the consideration on the problem of artificial abortion. Theses factors explained 35% of total variance of the level of perception 5. The variables related to the experience of artificial abortion were age, occupational status, marital status, religion, educational level, the number of children and whether women practice contraceptives or not.

Although the use of physical restraints is controversial, it is still commonly used in hospitalized patients to prevent patient accidents in clinical practice. It is, therefore, necessary to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, perception, and nursing practices related to the use of physical restraints. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which self-administered questionnaires were collected from 144 nursing students at two Universities. Descriptive statistics, including t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression, were applied to analyze the data collected. Our results reveal that the mean knowledge score of nursing students regarding the use of physical restraints was 11.55±2.81, the mean attitude score was 60.01±7.24, the mean perception score was 59.97±10.68, and the mean nursing practice score was 38.04±4.15. Significant positive correlations were observed between nursing practice and knowledge, attitude, and perception. Multiple regression analysis showed that the factors significantly related to nursing practice and the use of physical restraints were perception (β=.23, p=.005) and attitude (β=.21, p=.009), having a total explained variance of 13.0%. The findings from this study suggest that perception is the strongest predictor of the use of physical restraints in nursing practice. Thus, it is necessary to develop and apply an evidence-based educational intervention program to ensure that nursing students correctly understand the need for physical restraints and later use them appropriately in clinical practice.
Objective : Health literacy (HL) is, defined as "the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions." Being old is one of the main risk factors with limited health literacy. This study aims to adapt Chew's health literacy scale into the Korean language and validate the scale for the use of the elderly. Methods : Data were drawn from the '2016 Seoul Survey on Elderly Health and Functional Assessment, which includes a total of 725 people aged 60 to 79. The sample was randomly divided into two groups for reliability and validity tests of the modified Chew's scale of 8 items. The Korean version of the questionnaire was developed by group translation, expert reviews, and forward-backward translation. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to assess and validate the factor structure of the scale. Results : Results suggest the two-factor structure ("Understanding" and "Applying" of HL) with 8 items. Exploratory factor analyses of the first sample (n=400) revealed that the internal reliability of the scale was high (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.904$). Principal axis factoring extracted two factors ("Understanding" and "Applying" of HL) and explained 78.3% of total variance (KMO=.872, Bartlett's ${\chi}^2=2431.3$, df=28, p<.001). Confirmatory factor analysis of the second sample (n=325) was performed and the two-factor model was supported (GFI=.960, CFI=.979, TLI=.969, RMSEA=0.075). Conclusions : This study provides evidence for adequate criterion and validity of the health literacy scale for the community dwelling elderly in Korea.
We conducted a QTL analysis of agronomic traits using 117 $BC_3F_5$ and $BC_3F_6$ lines developed from a cross between Ilpumbyeo and Moroberekan. Genotypes of 117 $BC_3F_5$ lines were determined using 134 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. A total of 832 Moroberekan chromosome segments with 410 homozygous and 422 heterozygous, respectively, were detected, and the genetic distance of introgression segments ranged from 0.5 cm to 112.1 cm. A linkage map constructed using 134 SSR markers was employed to characterize quantitative trait loci (QTL). The 117 $BC_3F_5$ and $BC_3F_6$ lines were evaluated for seven agronomic traits at two locations in 2006 and 2007 and at one location in 2007. A total of 26 QTLs were identified for seven traits including days to heading, and the phenotypic variance explained by each QTL ranged from 9.2% to 24.2%. Moroberekan alleles contributed positive effects in the Ilpumbyeo background at eleven QTL loci including panicle length and spikelets per panicle. Five QTLs, two for days to heading and one each for culm length, panicle length and spikelets per panicle were consistently detected in every occasions indicating that these QTLs are stable. Among them, two QTLs, spp6 for spikelets per panicle and pl6 for paniclel length were localized in the similar region. Increase in spikelets per panicle at this locus might be due to the increase in panicle length, because both traits were associated with increase in spikelets per panicle and panicle length due to the presence of the Moroberekan allele. These Moroberekan QTLs might be useful in breeding programs to develop high-yielding cultivars.

This study was conducted to investigate the levels of self-esteem, rehabilitation motivation and quality of life and to identify the influencing factors of quality of life in stroke patients who were receiving rehabilitation therapy. Data were collected from February 22 to March 20, 2016 using self-administered questionares and the data from 216 participants were analyzed using SPSS WIN 21.0 program(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). The results of this study were as follows: the mean self-esteem was 3.09/5, rehabilitation motivation was 3.60/5, and quality of life was 2.95/5. Sex, age, education, caregiver, occupation, duration after attack, the degree of disability(dependence), and cognitive function were significantly associated with quality of life. There was positive correlation between quality of life and self-esteem(r=.45, p<.001) and there was positive correlation between quality of life and rehabilitation motivation(r=.27, p<.001). Variables such as self-esteem, duration after attack, the degree of disability(dependence), and cognitive function explained 43.6%(F=14.87 p=<.001) of the variance in quality of life in model 3. Consequently, it is needed to develop and apply nursing intervention and programs for improving self-esteem during rehabilitation in order to improve quality of life of stroke patients.

This study was a descriptive study to investigate the factors influencing on attitude toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment of nursing students' consciousness of biomedical ethics, good death recognition and meaning of life. The subjects of this study were 293 nursing students attending college at P city. Data were collected for two weeks from May 1, 2018 to May 11, 2018. The statistical method was performed with SPSS WIN 22.0 using a complex sampling analysis, pearson's correlation coefficients, and a multiple regression analysis. The result of this study was significant positive correlation between attitude toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment and consciousness of biomedical ethics(r=.266, p<.001), good death recognition(r=.373, p<.001), meaning of life(r=.122, p=.037). The meaning of life was significant positive correlation consciousness of biomedical ethics(r=.294, p<.001), good death recognition(r=.230, p<.001). The good death recognition was significant positive correlation consciousness of biomedical ethics(r=.306, p<.001). Factors Influencing on the attitude toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment was good death recognition(${\beta}=.32$, p<.001) and consciousness of biomedical ethics(${\beta}=.16$, p=.004). These factors explained about 16% of the variance. Therefore it is necessary to develop an educational program to positively raise the attitude of consciousness of biomedical ethics and good death recognition.

This study examined the effects of leisure activity, self-esteem, and the achievement on mental wellbeing among the elderly. The participants in this cross-sectional, descriptive study were 149 elderly who completed a self-report structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple linear regression analyses with SPSS statistics 20 program. The mental well-being averaged 51.5 (${\pm}15.1$); leisure activity averaged 26.2 (${\pm}6.5$); self-esteem averaged 30.2 (${\pm}5.2$), and self-esteem averaged 44.4 (${\pm}8.3$). The mental well being of the elderly was positively correlated with all three variables. The leisure activity, self-esteem, and achievement were strong predictors of the mental well-being among the elderly. These variables explained 42.7% of the variance in mental wellbeing. The results suggest that the elderly are satisfied with their own situations and abilities, have a positive mind by accepting their present state of being, continue social interactions through active leisure activities, and set specific goals. The mental well-being of the elderly can be improved.
