Best Practice of Gamification in Block Coding Learning Platform based on Virtual Reality

  • Due to the government's announcement of the 2025 policy mandating coding education, there is a growing need for effective coding learning methods in elementary education. However, there are few methods available that can easily help younger students understand coding. While text-based coding and visual block coding methods exist, they have limitations. To address these issues, we propose a block coding learning platform that combines virtual reality (VR) technology with gamification elements. The traditional two dimensional (2D) block coding methods have some limitations, so this platform aims to overcome these by providing an environment where learners can intuitively understand and experience coding in a three dimensional (3D) virtual space. The primary goal is to enhance immersive, learner-centered experiences and improve creative problem-solving skills and computational thinking. This study proposes an experimental approach to demonstrate the effectiveness of a learning platform that combines VR technology with block coding. Furthermore, we expect that the VR-based platform will significantly contribute to improving the quality of education and promoting self-directed learning among students.

  • In the variable speed Wind Turbine based on ElectroMagnetic Coupler (WT-EMC), a synchronous generator is coupled directly to the grid. Therefore, like conventional power plants, WT-EMC is able to inherently support grid frequency. However, due to the reduced inertia of the synchronous generator, WT-EMC is expected to be controlled to increase its output power in response to a grid frequency drop to support grid frequency. Similar to the grid frequency support control of Type 3 or Type 4 wind turbine, inertial control and droop control can be used to calculate the WT-EMC additional output power reference according to the synchronous generator speed. In this paper, an experimental platform is built to study the grid frequency support from WT-EMC with inertial control and droop control. Two synchronous generators, driven by two induction motors controlled by two converters, are used to emulate the synchronous generators in conventional power plants and in WT-EMCs respectively. The effectiveness of the grid frequency support from WT-EMC with inertial control and droop control responding to a grid frequency drop is validated by experimental results. The selection of the grid frequency support controller and its gain for WT-EMC is analyzed briefly.

  • This paper presents a one cycle R&D project regarding the large inertia platform servo control system. The steps followed the rather orthodox procedure. A serial double rate-loop was closed with a position loop, and acceleration velocity anticipatory compensations were designed in the forward path. Some appropriate compensation devices were utilized for the signal processing as well as for the better control quality. Simulations and experimental tests were repeated, and satisfactory performances were observed. However, frequency domain uncertainties inherent to the large structures still remain as an expertise supported subject.

  • We propose a flexible camera calibration system for mobile platform to calibrate the camera's intrinsic parameters which based on the geometrical property of the vanishing points determined by two perpendicular groups of parallel lines. The system only requires the camera to observe a rectangle card show at a few(at least four)different orientation. The experimental results of the real images show the proposed calibration system in this paper is easy to use and robust.

The MPI CyberMotion Simulator: A Novel Research Platform to Investigate Human Control Behavior

  • The MPI CyberMotion Simulator provides a unique motion platform, as it features an anthropomorphic robot with a large workspace, combined with an actuated cabin and a linear track for lateral movement. This paper introduces the simulator as a tool for studying human perception, and compares its characteristics to conventional Stewart platforms. Furthermore, an experimental evaluation is presented in which multimodal human control behavior is studied by identifying the visual and vestibular responses of participants in a roll-lateral helicopter hover task. The results show that the simulator motion allows participants to increase tracking performance by changing their control strategy, shifting from reliance on visual error perception to reliance on simulator motion cues. The MPI CyberMotion Simulator has proven to be a state-of-the-art motion simulator for psychophysical research to study humans with various experimental paradigms, ranging from passive perception experiments to active control tasks, such as driving a car or flying a helicopter.

상대식 지하철 역사내 화재시 연기제어에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Smoke Control in Side-Platform Type Subway Station Fires)

  • In this study, numerical simulations were carried out to analyze the effect of the smoke extraction system and fire shutters in subway station fires using FDS 4.0. Subway station used in the experiment was 205 m long. Simulation results are validated by comparing with experimental results. Simulation results showed good agreement with experimental results within $20\;^{\circ}C$. 20 MW polystyrene was used as a fuel in the numerical prediction. Numerical predictions were performed in the side-platform type subway station in case of a train fire. Temperature and CO concentration were lowered by the operation of smoke extraction system.

마찰보상을 통한 서어보제어계의 정밀 안정화 제어 (Precision Stabilization Control of Servo-system by Using Friction Compensation)

  • This paper presents a stabilization control designed to improve position stabilization performance of a position servo-system(turret) mounted on a manuvering platform(vehicle). In the consideration of the motion of the platform, a dynamic model of the stabilization system is derived and shows the viscous and stick-slip friction torques are the major source of stabilization errors. An extended generalized minimum variance control which consists of a feedforward disturbance compensation as well as a pole placement feedback control is suggested to reduce the stabilization errors caused from the friction disturbances. This modeling and control are applied to a small experimental set-up and the experimental results confirm the accuracy of the model and the effectiveness of the suggested control.

듀얼모드 SDR 모뎀 플랫폼의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Dual-Mode SDR Modem Platform)

  • 본 논문에서는 TDD HSDPA(Time Division Duplex High Speed Downlink Packet Access)와 WiBro(Wireless Broadband Portable Internet) 와 같은 이동통신 규격을 지원하는 SDR(Software Defined Radio) 단말 모뎀 플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안하는 SDR 플랫폼은 DSP, FPGA, 마이크로프로세서 등 프로그래밍 가능한 소자들을 채용하여 HSDPA와 WiBro와 같은 기능을 담당하는 프로그램 등이 하드웨어 플랫폼 상에 다운로드 가능하도록 하였다. 제안하는 플랫폼은 이동통신네트워크의 멀티모드 단말시스템을 위한 물리계층 규격의 기능검증 등에 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문은 먼저 HSDPA와 WiBro 시스템의 물리계층 수신구조를 설명하고, 제안하는 SDR 플랫폼의 하드웨어 구현 방법과 각 모드에 요구되는 기능과 구현한 하드웨어 플랫폼 상에서의 최적화된 신호 흐름의 설계방법을 제시한다. 마지막으로 테스트신호를 이용한 루프백(loopback) 테스트를 통하여 제안한 SDR 플랫폼 상에 동작하는 각 모드 별 링크 성능을 보여준다. 제시된 실험 성능은 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 성능과 비교하였다.

주문진 모래를 이용한 선반식 옹벽의 수평토압 측정 모형시험 (Model Tests for Measurement of Lateral Earth Pressure on Retaining Wall with the Relieving Platform Using Jumoonjin Sand)

  • 최근 국내에서도 구조물의 안정성을 향상시키고 수평토압의 크기를 줄여주는 선반식 옹벽에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이에 따라 모형시험 등 연구도 수행되기 시작했는데 기존 모형시험은 시험조건도 다양하지 않으며, 시험방법 등에서 개선해야 할 점이 있다. 이 연구에서는 개선된 모형시험 방법으로 여러 가지 다양한 조건에 대하여 모형시험을 수행하여 선반식 옹벽의 수평토압 감소효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 모형지반으로는 옹벽모형지반으로 일반적으로 많이 사용되는 주문진 모래를 이용하였으며, 1.2m의 모형옹벽을 15개 층으로 나누어 층마다 2개씩 총 30개의 로드셀을 사용하여 옹벽 높이별 수평토압을 측정하였다. 연구결과 선반식 옹벽은 캔틸레버식 옹벽에 비해 수평토압이 작게 발생하였으며, 선반 길이, 선반위치 등에 따라 수평토압의 크기가 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.

A Platform-Based SoC Design of a 32-Bit Smart Card

  • In this paper, we describe the development of a platform-based SoC of a 32-bit smart card. The smart card uses a 32-bit microprocessor for high performance and two cryptographic processors for high security. It supports both contact and contactless interfaces, which comply with ISO/IEC 7816 and 14496 Type B. It has a Java Card OS to support multiple applications. We modeled smart card readers with a foreign language interface for efficient verification of the smart card SoC. The SoC was implemented using 0.25 ${\mu}m$ technology. To reduce the power consumption of the smart card SoC, we applied power optimization techniques, including clock gating. Experimental results show that the power consumption of the RSA and ECC cryptographic processors can be reduced by 32% and 62%, respectively, without increasing the area.
