  • The purpose of this study is to develop practical problem based lesson plans on youth's self management and to analyze it's effect self-leadership skill of middle school students. The contents of the middle school Home Economics Technology textbooks and new curriculum revised in 2007 were analyzed. Based on these analyses 6 practical problem based lesson plans on youth's self management were developed. The topics in the lesson plan were as follows: 'Improving Self Identity', 'Expressing Self', 'getting the Life Goals', 'Importance of Time Management', and 'Time Management Skills'. The second grade middle school students in Goyang City as an experimental group were taught by practical problem based lesson plans. After the experiment, the changes in self-leadership skills of students were analyzed using paired t-test. The significant improvements of self leadership skills such as communication skills, learning skills and group management skills were found in the experimental groups of students. Thus, the following conclusion is made that the practical problem based lesson could be one of the useful methods for students to develop self-leadership skill.

  • This paper presents the results of an experiment comparing the current circular CFT columns and circular CFT columns that were additionally confined by carbon fiber sheets (CFS) under axial loading. The main experimental parameters are the numbers of CFS layers and the diameter-to-thickness ratio. 10 specimens were prepared according to the experimental parameter plans, and axial compression tests were conducted. From the tests, the failure procedure, load-axial deformation curve, maximum axial strength, and deformation capacity of the CFT columns and confined CFT columns were compared. The test results showed that the maximum axial strengths of CFT columns additionally confined by CFS are increased higher than those of the current CFT columns, and that local buckling can be delayed due to the confinement effect of CFS.

  • This study proposes a formula to calculate length of river bed protection through experimental research and an experimental plant has been installed to investigate the parameters which influence the length of scouring in the river after overflowing the weir. Through hydraulic experiments, the critical velocity, difference of water level between upstream and downstream and height of weir have been selected as independent variables. And new formula to calculate a length of river bed protection is suggested as the result of this study in the consideration of complex weir that consists of movable and fixed weir. The new formula is verified through additional experiments. Results of this study can be used for weir structures' construction and maintenance plans.

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify effects of a fall prevention program on physical fitness and psychological functions in community dwelling elders. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was carried out with a nonequivalent control group pre & post-test design. The program, which included exercises and education, consisted of a 12-week group program and an 8-week self-management program using a health calendar. An experimental group (32) and a control group (21) participated. Results: There were significant differences in SPPB (t=-3.92, p<.001), TUG test (t=4.94, p<.001), standing with right leg (t= -3.60, p=.001), standing with left leg (t=-3.74, p<.001), front and rear maximum step length test (t=-4.34, p<.001), right-left maximum step length test (t=-2.65, p=.011), and fall efficacy (t=-2.42, p=.019). Fall efficacy, fear of falling and depression showed significant differences following the 12-week exercise program and 8-week self-management program in the experimental group. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that the fall prevention program is an effective nursing intervention to enhance physical fitness and psychological functions for elders. Using a health calendar, the self-management program was more effective for psychological functions compared to only the group program. Therefore, health providers should develop diversified fall prevention programs which include motivation plans to encourage clients in participating.

  • The purposes of this study were to develop ICT time management program for middle school students using in the creative extra curricular activities and to test the effect of this program in the knowledge and attitude aspects of time management. The contents of a middle school Home Economics curriculum and nine different textbooks were analyzed Based on these analyses 5 ICT lesson plans on time management were developed. The ICT instructional method was used to develop 5 lesson plans. The second grade middle school students as an experimental group participated in 5 ICT time management classes during middle school creative extra curricular activities. The control group of students who had some condition with the experimental group were taught by traditional instructional methods. After experiment, the changes in attitude and knowledge of time management of both groups were analyzed using Analysis of Covaziance. The significant improvements of attitude and knowledge on time management were found among the experimental group of students compared with control group of students. Thus the following conclusion is made the ICT time management instruction conducted in this study was found loaming more effective than traditional one in attitudes and knowledge of time management

  • With the rapid industrial development, railways have become a main traffic means of transportation. However, rail traffic noise and vibration have become a major problem in urban areas which is a very serious issue for the living environment. Especially, railway noise induced by rail operations has influenced on the residents living near railway tracks. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the Raynoise modeling in railway applications. Generally, my acoustics have been used to investigate the effectiveness of noise barriers in railway applications and barriers are modeled using the commercial software Raynoise. A-weighted sound pressure level have been measured at six locations, 4m from the track and are compared with experimental values. Based on the analysis of the results, Comparison between numerical and experimental values are within 1dB (A). Also, when a train is m through the Raynoise modeling, the general influential sphere of railway noise can be determined. Therefore, this study will be using basic data in establishing effective railway noise prevention plans far the future. Also, we could know that is applicable of Raynoise modeling at railway noise.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the visual evaluation structure about the formal changes of streetscape by the different moving speed in two alternative control plans for the building height and the setback regulation. The virtual reality system is applied to the experimental tool. Eighty-two experimental models are made in consideration of the height and the setback of the building regulation cased by Midou-suji street in Osaka City, Japan. and ten typical models are selected by pre-experiment. Since the changes of the landscape structure consists of the height and the setback of the building, four the evaluation items are set: grade of continuity, order, openness, preference. As there are eighty-two landscape models which are too many to be applied in this experiment, ten role models are drawn out and used in this experiment. The mean difference test, discriminant analysis, and multiple linear regression methods had been used for the statistical analysis methods. The results of this study are as follows; 1) It is found out the fact of the difference evaluation structure amount experiments models. 2) From the sketch analysis and interview, it is found out difference cognition structure by the moving speed and alternatives. 3) From the discriminant and regression analysis, it is found out that the evaluation value about continuity becomes low by the moving speed change from walking speed to driving speed. We suggest that continuous experiment should be made with a variety of groups and models, and general and universal results should also be come out of the experiments above.

  • The CRUD on the fuel cladding under the pressurized water reactor (PWR) operating condition causes several issues. The CRUD can act as thermal resistance and increases the local cladding temperature which accelerate the corrosion process. The hideout of boron inside the CRUD results in axial offset anomaly and reduces the plant's shutdown margin. Recently, there are efforts to revise the acceptance criteria of emergency core cooling systems (ECCS), and additionally require the modeling of the thermal resistance effect of the CRUD during the performance analysis. There is an urgent need for the evaluation of the effect of the CRUD deposition on the cladding heat transfer under PWR operating conditions, but the experimental database is very limited. The experimental facility called DISNY was designed and constructed to analyze the CRUD-related multi-physical phenomena, and the performance analysis of the constructed DISNY facility was conducted. The thermal-hydraulic and water chemistry conditions to simulate the CRUD growth under PWR operating conditions were established. The design characteristics and feasibility of the DISNY facility were validated by the MARS-KS code analysis and separate performance tests. In the current study, detailed design features, design validation results, and future utilization plans of the proposed DISNY facility are presented.
