Purpose: This study was aimed to develop a simulation training program of an advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) based on the mastery learning model (Simulation-MLM), and evaluate the effects of the program on critical care nurses. Methods: As an experimental pre-post test with a non-equivalent control group, the study employed convenience sampling of 38 critical care nurses. The experimental group received the Simulation-MLM including a theoretical lecture, formative evaluation, and simulation training, whereas only a theoretical lecture for the control group. The knowledge, self-efficacy, and performance degrees of respondents were measured to verify the effects of the Simulation-MLM. The statistical processing of the collected data utilized the SPSS WIN 17.0 program. Results: After receiving Simulation-MLM, the participants in the experimental group reported higher marks in the knowledge, self-efficacy and performance of ACLS compared with those in the control group. However, both experimental and control groups demonstrated no significant differences in knowledge, self-efficacy and performance. Conclusion: Despite of the limitation of a small sample size, this study was considered meaningful in a sense that it showed a venue for improving ACLS training efficiency. Future research with more distinct treatment differentiation and better adequate outcome variables was warranted in order to prove the effects of a theory-based simulation education.

For accurate gain tuning of the lab-manufactured six-axis articulated robot RS2 with less noise, in this study, a program routine using dynamic signal analyzer, which is a realization of a controller design algorithm in the frequency domain, is programmed using LabVIEW$^{(R)}$. The contribution of this paper is the proposal of a simulation technique based on SolidWorks$^{(R)}$ and LabVIEW$^{(R)}$ for the gain tuning of a six-axis articulated robot. To realize the simulation, the LabVIEW$^{(R)}$ program used for experimental gain tuning is incorporated in to SolidWorks$^{(R)}$. A comparison shows that the results of simulation-based gain tuning and experimental gain tuning are almost the same within a 5% error bound. On the basis of the comparison, it can be suggested that the simulation-based technique for gain tuning can be applied instead of experimental gain tuning to a six-axis articulated robot by interlocking SolidWorks$^{(R)}$ and LabVIEW$^{(R)}$.
Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a simulation-based education course and to evaluate the results after the application for second year nursing students. Methods: This study was a non-equivalent control pre-post design. Based on the clinical situation scenarios about patients with COPD and MI, a total of two simulation-based learning modules was developed. Pretest and posttest was conducted to evaluate the difference in critical thinking disposition, problem solving, and clinical competence between two groups of 102 students for the experimental group, 2007 and 90 students for the control group, 2006. The experimental group conducted a clinical performance evaluation in the final test, on December 10, 2007. Results: In the experimental group, knowledge related to learning objectives was significantly increased and core intervention was performed almost exactly, but the same result was not observed in domains of analysis of laboratory test, and nursing education for patients. Self-evaluated clinical competence and problem solving level were significantly more improved in the experimental group than control group, but critical thinking disposition level wasn't. Conclusion: In conclusion, a simulation-based education course needs to utilize self-directed learning module like computer-based learning through web contents and MicroSim and video productions for improving nursing students' critical thinking.

In the previous work, we performed the analysis of a tubular type moving-magnet linear oscillatory actuator (LOA) with cylindrical Halbach array by using 2-d analytical formulas and confirmed validity of analytical results by comparison of those with both finite element (FE) computation and experimental results. This paper deals with the dynamic characteristic analysis of the moving-magnet LOA with cylindrical Halbach array. Control parameters such as the thrust constant, the back-emf constant, resistance and inductance are obtained from both analytical and experimental results. And then, the dynamic simulation algorithm is established by the state and output equation obtained from voltage and motion equation. Finally, for various values of frequency, the dynamic simulation and experimental results for the characteristics of the voltage, current and displacement of moving-magnet LOA are presented. The simulation results are validated extensively by experiments. The experimental and simulation results for the variation of stroke according to control voltage are also presented for various values of frequency.

The performance of a plastic scintillator for use in an in situ measurement system was analyzed using simulation and experimental methods. The experimental results of four major pure beta-emitting radionuclides, namely $^3H$, $^{14}C$, $^{32}P$, and $^{90}Sr/^{90}Y$, were compared with those obtained using a Monte Carlo N-particle (MCNP) code simulation. The MCNP simulation and experimental results demonstrated good agreement for $^{32}P$ and $^{90}Sr/^{90}Y$, with a relative difference of 1.95% and 0.43% between experimental and simulation efficiencies for $^{32}P$ and $^{90}Sr/^{90}Y$, respectively. However, owing to the short range of beta particles in water, the efficiency for $^{14}C$ was extremely low, and $^3H$ could not be detected. To directly measure the low-energy beta radionuclides considering their short range, a system where the source could flow directly to the scintillator was developed. The optimal thickness of the plastic scintillator was determined based on the suggested diameter. Results showed that the detection efficiency decreases with an increase in the depth of the water. The detection efficiency decreased drastically to approximately 10 cm, and the tendency was gradually constant.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of clinical practice and simulation-based practice for obstetrical nursing in terms of self-efficacy, practice satisfaction, and practice stress. Methods: A non-equivalent control group post test design was used. The participants were 171 junior nursing students, 103 in the experimental group, and 68 in the control group. Simulation-based practice consisted of nursing assessment during labor, nursing assessment and intervention for normal and high risk mother, nursing education for mother and family during labor, and open lab. The experimental group participated in simulation-based practice for two days and the control group participated in clinical practice at delivery room for two weeks. Results: The experimental group showed higher level of self-efficacy (p= .043), practice satisfaction (p<.001) and practice stress (p=.003) compared to the control group. Conclusion: Simulation-based practice is an effective learning method for obstetrical nursing and can be used as the alternative for clinical practice. However, stress management strategies are needed for simulation-based practice.
For the pressure compaction process of the ceramic powder, the density distribution is very important for the uniform shrinkages at the sintered body. In this paper, we fabricated alumina green body using compaction process and simulated about same condition. Then comparison of simulation and experimental result confirmed that accuracy of simulation. On the average density of top and lower part was each $2.41g/cm^3,\;2.27g/cm^3$ and deviation at final step was calculated with 0.06 in simulation. Also, experiments show that total density of top and lower part was each $2.59g/cm^3,\;2.36g/cm^3$, and deviation was 0.09. Conclusion, that was not a difference to the simulation and experimental result. The application using the finite element simulation method is possible optimization of the compressing process, predict generated part of cracks and there is a possibility of getting result of more fast, more accurate then existing experience method.

Flow characteristics in linear axial cascade have been studied using large eddy simulation(LES) based on finite element method(FEM) to investigate details of the leakage flow in the tip clearance of axial flow rotor. STAR-CD(FVM) and PAT-Flow(FEM) have been adopted to solve the Navier-Stokes equations for the simulation of the unsteady turbulent flow. Numerical results from the present study have been compared with the existing experimental results to investigate a tip clearance effect on velocity profile and static pressure distribution on blade surface at various spanwise positions. Both simulation results agree well with the experimental data. However, it has been shown that the results of finite-element large-eddy simulation agree better with experimental data than $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model based on finite volume method regarding the tip vortex geometry and static pressure distribution at the center of the tip vortex core. As a result of this study, it is shown that finite-element large-eddy simulation method can predict more exactly on the tip leakage vortex flow and behind flow field.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of simulation-based education regarding care in a cardio-pulmonary emergency care as related to knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving ability in nursing students. The study was conducted with a nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design. Seventy four participants were assigned to either the experimental group(34) or control group(40). The simulation-based cardio-pulmonary emergency care education included lecture, team-based practice, and debriefing, and it was implemented with the experimental group for a week from September 1 to December 11, 2015. Data were analyzed using chi-square, t-test and ANCOVA by using SPSS 21.0 program. The experimental group who had the simulation-based education showed significantly higher knowledge(F=24.930, p<.001), and critical thinking(F=5.951, p<.05) for cardio-pulmonary emergency care compared with the control group who had traditional education. However, there were no significant differences in problem solving ability(F=3.327, p>.072). The results indicate that a simulation-based education is an effective teaching method to improve knowledge and critical thinking in nursing students learning cardio-pulmonary emergency care. Further study is needed to identify the effect of a simulation-based team positive education program of nursing students.

The turboshaft engine with the free power turbine has been used for various purposes, for instance electric power generator, emergency power source, helicopter powerplant and so on. Steady-state simulation program was developed and experimental tests was carried out for comparing with computer simulation results. The test unit was composed of 1-stage centrifugal compressor, the can type combustor chamber, 1-stage radial type compressor turbine, and radial type free power turbine, and its output power is obtained from 3-phase AC generator. Main component characteristics which was used for the steady state simulation program, were obtained from the manufacturer of the test unit, and modified from experimental results of test unit. In comparison between computer simulation and experimental test results even though the test unit has the operational limit, deviation of component performance characteristics in simulation were within 6% range of experimental results.
