This study investigated the engineering characteristics of non-sintering binder-stabilized mixtures consisting of different ratios of a hardening agent(3%, 6%, 9%, 12%) for recycling industrial by-products through several series of laboratory tests. The hardening agents consisted of two kinds of non-sintering binders(NSB-1, NSB-2), which were developed by using inter-chemical reactions among blast furnace slag, phospho-gypsum, and an alkali activator. In addition, ordinary Portland cement(OPC) was used to compare the engineering characteristics of the stabilized mixture. An unconfined compressive test showed that the unconfined compressive strength increased with the curing time and mixing ratio. Experimental test results indicated that the 7-day strength of the NSB-1 mixture was similar to that of the OPC mixture. However, its 28-day strength was higher than that of the OPC mixture. The secant module of elasticity showed a range of $E_{50}=(42-109)q_u$ regardless of the agents. Based on the results of triaxial tests, the cohesion and friction angle increased with the mixing ratio.

Electrical resistivity is an important physical property of portland cement concrete which is directly related to chloride induced corrosion process. This study examined the electrical surface resistivity (SR) and bulk electrical resistivity (BR) of concrete cylinders for various binary and ternary based high-performance concrete (HPC) mixtures from 7 to 161 days. Two different types of instruments were utilized for this investigation and they were 4 point Wenner probe meter for SR and Merlin conductivity tester for bulk resistivity measurements. Chronological development of electrical resistivity as well as correlation between two types of resistivity on several days was established for all concrete mixtures. The ratio of experimental surface resistance to bulk resistance and corresponding resistivity was computed and compared with theoretical values. Results depicted that bulk and SR are well correlated for different groups of HPC mixtures and these mixtures have attained higher range of electrical resistivity for both types of measurements. In addition, this study presents distribution of surface and bulk resistivity in different permeability classes as proposed by Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specification from 7 to 161 days. Furthermore, electrical resistivity data for several HPC mixtures and testing procedure provide multiple promising options for long lasting bridge decks against chloride induced corrosion due to its ease of implementation, repeatability, non-destructive nature, and low cost.

This study is to measure the creep coefficient by 3 days, 7 days and 28 days in the age when loading for the quality assessment of $350kgf/cm^2$ in the high-strength concrete. And it is to analyze the behavior of creep coefficient by applying the experimental data though the compressive strength test, the elastic modulus test and the dry shrinkage test to the ACI-209, AASHTO-94 and CEB/FIP-90, the prediction mode, and the basis of concrete structural design. Also it is to analyze the behavior of short-term creep coefficient during 91 days in the age when loading through the experiment by using the regression analysis, the statistical theory. As applying it to the long-term behavior during 365 days and comparing with the creep prediction mode and examining it, the result from the analysis of the quality of the concrete is as follows. As the result of comparison and analysis about the ACI-209, AASHTO-94 and CEB/FIP-90, the prediction mode, and the basis of concrete structural design, the normal Portland cement class 1 shows the approximate value with the prediction of GEE/PIP-90 and the basis of concrete structural design, but in case of the prediction of ACI-209 and AASHTO-94, there would be worry of underestimation in the application.

In cold weather, the speed of concrete strength development is slow. As a result, construction speed becomes slow and it is problem for all construction site to solve this. So in this study, to shorten removing frame time after placing concrete, mix proportion using early-strength-binder(ESB) and curing method such as using heat line in concrete was considered. At first, concrete mix proportion was examined at -5℃ temperature between ordinary portland cement(OPC) and ESB. And second step, concrete, using mix proportion with OPC, was examined according to curing method(: 1) heat line used and 2) no heat line) and kinds of form (: 1) Deck slab, 2) Half PC slab and 3) SOG slab). All cases are same condition: slab thickness is 1,500mm, double-bubble sheet is used as a curing sheet after placing concrete. After the test, OPC is enough to get strength compared to ESB in special condition and 48~60 hours is needed according to form condition.

Two-stage concrete (TSC), also known as pre-placed aggregate concrete, is characterized by its unique placement technique, whereby the coarse aggregate is first placed in the formwork, then injected with a special grout. Despite its superior sustainability and technical features, TSC has remained a basic concrete technology without much use of modern chemical admixtures, new binders, fiber reinforcement or other emerging additions. In the present study, an experimental database for TSC was built. Different types of cementitious binders (single, binary, and ternary) comprising ordinary portland cement, fly ash, silica fume, and metakaolin were used to produce the various TSC mixtures. Different dosages of steel fibres having different lengths were also incorporated to enhance the mechanical properties of TSC. The database thus created was used to develop fuzzy logic models as predictive tools for the grout flowability and mechanical properties of TSC mixtures. The performance of the developed models was evaluated using statistical parameters and error analyses. The results indicate that the fuzzy logic models thus developed can be powerful tools for predicting the TSC grout flowability and mechanical properties and a useful aid for the design of TSC mixtures.

According to the experimental results of researchers recently seen, there is a case where a significant difference between data of several reports and measured powder is detected, and concrete examination on this is necessary. In this study, we compare the actual powdered degree of powdered aid on the report against 20 OPCs that are actually being brought into the raw concrete plant, and the OPC powder also influences the difference of OPC powder's strength characteristics on hardened mortar Was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, doubts were raised on the reliability of the OPC powder degree described on the certificate, and the bending and compressive strength tended to increase as the degree of fineness of the measured OPC increased.

With the increasing demand in the production of concrete, there is a need for adopting a feasible, economical and sustainable technique to fulfill practical requirements. Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is one such technique which addresses the concrete industry in providing eco-friendly and cost effective concrete. The objective of the present study is to develop a mix design for SCC with Crushed Rock Fines (CRF) as fine aggregate based on the plastic viscosity of the mix and validate the same for its fresh and hardened properties. Effect of plastic viscosity on the fresh and hardened properties of SCC is also addressed in the present study. SCC mixes are made with binary and ternary blends of Fly Ash (FA) and Ground Granulated Blast Slag (GGBS) with varying percentages as a partial replacement to Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). The proposed mix design is validated successfully with the experimental investigations. The results obtained, indicated that the fresh properties are best achieved for SCC mix with ternary blend followed by binary blend with GGBS, Fly Ash and mix with pure OPC. It is also observed that the replacement of sand with 100% CRF resulted in a workable and cohesive mix.

The effects of additive and shrinkage reducing agent on the drying and autogenous shrinkage of high strength concrete are investigated in this study. As results, when the ratio of W/B(low water to binder ratio) increase, the compressive strength is decreased. Comparing with PC(portland cement) concrete, the strength is 2.8%, 3.2% and 3.8% lower respectively than that of PC when concrete mixing ratio is 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4% in 28 days curing. Drying shrinkage strain of PC concrete showed $-650{\times}10^{-6}$ in 91 days curing. When SR(shrinkage reducing agent) of 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4% is mixed, the drying shrinkage strains are 21%, 34% and 41% lower than those of PC in 91 days curing. Autogenous shrinkage strain of PC concrete appeared $-480{\times}10^{-6}$ in 56 days curing. When SR of 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4% is mixed, the autogenous drying shrinkage strain are 12.5%, 19.8% and 33.3% lower than those of PC in 56 days curing. In cases of using the mineral and shrinkage agent or only using a shrinkage reducing agent also appeared same reducing effects for drying shrinkage and autogenous shrinkage.

The present work aims at investigating the effects of using various fine mineral additions as partial replacement to Portland cement on the tribological properties of concrete. To achieve this goal, concrete mixtures were prepared with different percentages (10, 20 and 30%) of limestone fillers (LF) and natural pozzolana (NP), and (20, 40 and 60%) of blast furnace slag (BFS). The interface yield stress (τ0) and viscous constants (η) that allow characterizing friction at the concrete-pipe wall interface were determined using a rotational tribometer. In addition, the compositions of the boundary layers that formed in the pumping pipes of the different concretes under study were also identified and analyzed. The experimental results obtained showed that the concretes studied have a linear tribological behavior that can be described by the Bingham model. Furthermore, the use of different mineral additions, especially limestone fillers and blast furnace slags, even at high rates, had a beneficial effect on the optimization of the volume of paste present in the boundary layer, which made it possible to significantly reduce the viscous constant of concrete. However, a maximum rate of 10% of natural pozzolana was recommended to achieve tribological properties that are favorable to the pumpability of concrete.
This paper presents the behavior of geopolymer concrete beams reinforced with glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars. In the study, ordinary Portland cement concrete and geopolymer concrete beams having GFRP bars were prepared and tested under four-point loading. The load-deflection diagrams and load capacities of the tested beams were obtained. It was observed that the tested beams exhibited good ductility and significant deflection capacity. The results showed that increasing the tension GFRP reinforcement ratio caused enhancement in the strength capacity of geopolymer concrete beams. In addition, the tested beams were analyzed to obtain the load capacity and the load-deflection responses. The theoretical load-deflection curves and load bearing capacities have been predicted well with the test results. Parametric study has been performed to determine the influences of concrete strength, shear span to depth ratio (a/d) and reinforcement ratio on the behavior of geopolymer concrete beams longitudinally reinforced with GFRP bars. It was concluded that increasing concrete strength led to an increase in load capacity. Besides, the ultimate load increased as the reinforcement ratio increased. On the other hand, increasing a/d ratio reduced the ultimate load value of GFRP reinforced geopolymer concrete beams.
