This paper reviews studies on information searching behavior in process control systems and discusses some implications learned from previous studies for use in human factors studies on nuclear power plants (NPPs) main control rooms (MCRs). Information searching behavior in NPPs depends on expectancy, value, salience, and effort. The first quantitative scanning model developed by Senders for instrument panel monitoring considered bandwidth (change rate) of instruments as a determining factor in scanning behavior. Senders' model was subsequently elaborated by other researchers to account for value in addition to bandwidth. There is also another type of model based on the operator's situation awareness (SA) which has been developed for NPP application. In these SA-based models, situation-event relations or rules on system dynamics are considered the most significant factor forming expectancy. From the review of previous studies it is recommended that, for NPP application, (1) a set of symptomatic information sources including both changed and unchanged symptoms should be considered along with bandwidth as determining factors governing information searching (or visual sampling) behavior; (2) both data-driven monitoring and knowledge-driven monitoring should be considered and balanced in a systematic way; (3) sound models describing mechanisms of cognitive activities during information searching tasks should be developed so as to bridge studies on information searching behavior and design improvement in HMI; (4) the attention-situation awareness (A-SA) modeling approach should be recognized as a promising approach to be examined further; and (5) information displays should be expected to have totally different characteristics in advanced control rooms. Hence much attention should be devoted to information searching behavior including human-machine interface (HMI) design and human cognitive processes.
This study was conducted to corroborate the factors that influence consumer characteristics and technology acceptance on online luxury platforms, which are rapidly emerging as distribution channels for luxury brands. To this end, the relationship between the degree of technology acceptance and behavioral intention of fashion consumers on online luxury platforms and the effect on specific factors such as age and gender was investigated to see if there was a difference in behavior and use behavior. A survey was conducted on Korean consumers between the age of 20 and 40 who have used online luxury platforms and then, a statistical analysis was conducted. As a result of the study, performance expectancy and facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, and habit were found to have a significant effect on platform behavioral intention, but effort expectancy and social influence did not have a significant effect. Additionally, both facilitating conditions and habit were found to have a directly significant effect on the platform use behavior, and it was confirmed that the platform behavior intention also had a significant effect on the use behavior. As a result of confirming the moderating effect of gender and age, there was no difference based on gender, but only the relationship between price value and behavioral intention was found to have a moderating effect. It is hoped that domestic online luxury platforms will grow into channels with distinct characteristics and continue to develop in the luxury market by utilizing specific affect factors of this study.
In this article, a fairly extensive literature review was conducted to depict the current status of academic motivation and its developmental trend among Korean adolescents. The focal factors were perceived competence and autonomy which have been considered as major determinants of academic motivation. Theoretical frameworks adopted were self-efficacy theory, expectancy-value theory, and self-determination theory. Empirical studies conducted in Korean educational settings during the past decade were the target of the literature review. Results of the literature analysis revealed that, in general, there was a decreasing tendency in perceived competence from elementary to middle school which followed by a slight increase after entering high school. Similar trend revealed in the development of autonomous motivation, in that middle and high school students' intrinsic motivation levels were lower than that of the elementary groups. The amotivational tendency was increased as the grade level proceeded toward high school, which requires attention from educators. Discussion was followed in an attempt to provide plausible interpretations for this undesirable current status of Korean adolescents' academic motivation and to suggest implications for possible remedial actions both in pedagogical perspectives and students' well-being.

The main purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the effects of participation behavior and performance improvement on motivation factors of Korean university students which participated in LINC by utilizing Vroom's Expectancy Theory. Three motivation factors of valence, instrumentality, and expectancy were examined in this study. In addition, two different models (valence and force model) analyzed the causal relationships regarding participation behavior and performance improvement. 236 data were collected and findings of this study were as follows: First, comparative analysis between demographic characteristics including university, major, and residence had no significant differences in mean value. However, females had higher levels of recognition related to valence (attractiveness) relative to males. Second, valence and the force model were significant predictors of LINC participation behavior and performance improvement. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination and beta coefficient of the force model were higher compared with the valence model. Third, the level of mediation effects including direct, indirect, and total effect of the force model was higher than the valence model. LINC participation behavior had a partial mediating effect between the three motivation factors and performance improvement variable.

In this paper, the purpose is to verify the impact of performance expectations, effort expectations, social impact, individual innovation and perceived value on the intent of use and the behavior of use. Used Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to verify the applicability of this model in China, and established the research model by adding two new variables to UTAUT according to the situation of the Chinese market. To achieve this goal, 345 questionnaires were collected for experienced music creators using artificial intelligence nuggets in China by means of Internet research. The collected data were analyzed through frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and structural equation analysis through SPSS V. 22.0 and AMOS V 22.0. The verification of the hypotheses presented in the research model identified the decisive influence factors on the use of artificial intelligence music acceptance by Chinese users. The study is innovative in that it attempts to verify the applicability of UTAUT in the Chinese context. In the construction of the user acceptance model of AI music, three influencing factors will have an effect on users' intentions, and according to the degree of effect, from largest to smallest, they are respectively Perceived Innovativeness, Performance Expectancy and Effort Expectancy. This paper will also provide some management advices, i.e. improving the utility and usability of AI music, encouraging users with individual innovativeness, developing competitive and attractive pricing policies, increasing publicity, and prioritizing word-of-mouth advertising.
The rapid growth of the Internet has increased the amount of transmission of personally identifiable information. At the same time, with new Internet related technologies, organizations are trying to collect and access more personal information than before, which in turn makes individuals concern more about their information privacy. For their successful businesses, organizations have tried to alleviate these concerns in two ways: (1) by offering privacy policies that promise certain level of privacy protection; (2) by offering benefits such as financial gains or convenience. In this paper, we interpret these actions in the context of the information processing theory of motivation. This paper follows Hann et al.(2007)'s methods to analyze Internet users privacy concerns in Korea and tries to compare the findings. Our research objectives are as follows: First, we analyze privacy concern mitigation strategies in the framework of the expectancy theory of motivation. Subsequently, we show how the expectancy theory based framework is linked o the conjoint analysis. We empirically validate the predictions that the means to mitigate privacy concerns are associated with positive valences resulting in an increase in motivational score. In order to accommodate real-life contexts, we investigate these means in trade-off situation, where an organization may only be able to offer partially complete privacy protection and/or promotions and/or convenience, While privacy protection (secondary use, improper access) are associated with positive valences, we also find that financial gains can significantly increase the individuals' motivational score of a website in Korea. One important implication of this empirical analysis is that organizations may possess means to actively manage the privacy concerns of Internet users. Our findings show that privacy policies are valued by users in Korea just as in the US or Singapore. Hence, organizations can capitalize on this, by stating their privacy policy more prominently. Also organizations would better think of strategies or means that may increase online users' willingness to provide personal information. Since financial incentives also significantly increase the individuals' motivational score of website participation, we can quantify the value of website privacy protection in terms of monetary gains. We find that Korean Internet users value the total privacy protection (protection against errors, improper access, and secondary use of personal information) as worthy as KW 25,550, which is about US 28. Having done this conjoint analysis, we next adopt cluster analysis methodology. We identify two distinct segments of Korea's internet users-privacy guardians and information sellers, and convenience seekers. The immediate implication of our study is that firms with online presence must differentiate their services to serve these distinct segments to best meet the needs of segments with differing trade-offs between money and privacy concerns. Information sellers are distinguished from privacy guardians by prior experience of information provision, To the extent that businesses cannot observe an individual's prior experience, they must use indirect methods to induce segmentation by self-selection as suggested in classic economics literature of price discrimination, Businesses could use monetary rewards to attract information sellers to provide personal information. One step forward from the societal trends that emphasize the need of legal protection of information privacy, our study wants to encourage organizations and related authorities to have the viewpoints to consider both importance of privacy protection and the necessity of information trade for the growth of e-commerce.

The health industry is highly value-added, compared to other industries. The reason is that increase of income growth and the expanded human life expectancy bring about positively needs of products at health industry. This is related with increase in expenses of health care and R&D investment of health industry. After 1995, the share of GDP at drug & biomedical industry is increased. Especially, the share of GDP at biomedical is 0.12% in 1995 1$^{st}$ quarter, but 0.17% in 2002 3$^{rd}$ quarter, 0.24% in 2008. Biomedical's contribution about GDP growth is to jump into 6.01% in 2008. The share of GDP at drug will continuously expand, compared to other manufacture industries. Also, drug's contribution about GDP growth will increase, compared with before. Conclusionally, total shares of GDP at drug St biomedical industry are to increase, compared with before. Also, this health industry's contribution is to expand as value-added industry and increase of sales.
This paper focuses on effects that IPTV will have on domestic broadcasting market in the point of view of customers. The purpose of the paper is to present the future landscape of competitive media market when IPTV is launched, and to research how IPTV will have impact on terrestrial broadcasting, cable TV and satellite broadcasting industry. The paper integrates two known theories, such as the niche-gratification model and the value-expectancy model, to analyze competitive media market. The value expected model makes it possible to overcome the weakness of the niche-gratification model and to forecast competitiveness more accurately. According to this research, competitive power will be in the order of Cable TV, IPTV, and satellite broadcasting. Terrestrial broadcasting does not show strong competitive relationships with others statistically. As a result, Cable TV will be the most competitive medium in the future. IPTV will be stuck in the middle and can rapidly substitute for existing broadcasting services. While IPTV will severely threaten the satellite broadcasting company which has a relatively small number of subscribers, cable TV will be in a superior position to IPTV.
The study to improve engineering students' performance in studying physics lacked despite of the importance of studying physics in engineering education. The cognitive belief and the motivational belief in studying physics had a strong effect on studying physics. The purpose of this study was to seek the educational way through comparing professors' expectations with students' beliefs about the cognitive belief and the motivational belief in studying physics. The cognitive belief in studying physics was considered as variables like 'knowledge', 'learning' and 'relation'. The motivational belief in studying physics was considered as variables like 'expectancy' and 'value'. It was the 'expectancy' that was the most different dimension between professors' expectations and students' beliefs. It means that students have little confidence in their abilities to study physics, though professors expect their students to be confident. Professor who teaches physics to engineering students recognize these differences, need to have interest in affective domains of beliefs to teach. In addition, there is need to teaching and learning strategies that can lead engineering students' beliefs about ability to perform the task, the purpose, importance, interesting for physics.
The propellant KM10, a single propellant manufactured from nitrocellulose, was known to cause natural degradation phenomena at long term storage. In this study, the self-life was estimated using high temperature acceleration aging tests and stockpile analysis test. For the life expectancy estimation, Arrhenius equation and Berthelot equation were used in the high temperature acceleration tests, and the first order regression was used in the Stockpile analysis test. The self-life of propellant KM10 using the Arrhenius equation and Berthelot equation showed significantly different results as 43.73, 16.53 years in the high temperature acceleration test, and it showed 42.94 years in the Stockpile analysis test. The value of self-life predicted by Arrhenius equation was reasonable when compared with the result of E. R. Bixon.
