Recently, demand for technology for energy economy and stable supply is increasing due to the increase in power demand of loads. The amount of DC power generation using new and renewable energy is noticeably increasing, and the use of DC power supplies is also increasing due to the increase in electric vehicles and digital loads. During parallel operation to increase the capacity of the power converter, the module bus method or the method using Can communication and serial communication has significant difficulties in smooth operation due to communication time delay for information sharing. Synchronization of information sharing of each power converter is essential for smooth parallel operation, and minimization of communication time delay is urgently needed as a way to overcome this problem. In this paper, a new communication method using pulse width information is proposed as a communication method specialized for parallel operation of power converters to compensate for the disadvantage of communication transmission delay in the existing system. The proposed communication method has the advantage of being easily implemented using the PWM and Capture function of the microcomputer. In addition, the DC/DC converter for DC distribution was verified through simulation and experiment, and it has the advantage of easy capacity expansion when applied to parallel operation of various types of power converters as well as DC/DC converters.
An analytical method capable of predicting various stress-strain responses in axially loaded concrete confined with FRP (fiber reinforced polymers) composites in a rational manner is presented. Its underlying idea is that the volumetric expansion due to progressive microcracking in mechanically loaded concrete is an important measure of the extent of damage in the material microstructure, and can be utilized to estimate the load-carrying capacity of concrete by considering the corresponding accumulated damage. Following from this, an elastic modulus expressed as a function of area strain and concrete porosity, the energy-balance equation relating the dilating concrete to the confining device interactively, the varying confining pressure, and an incremental calculation algorithm are included in the solution procedure. The proposed method enables the evaluation of lateral strains consecutively according to the related mechanical model and the energy-balance equation, rather than using an empirically derived equation for Poisson's ratio or dilation rate as in other analytical methods. Several existing analytical methods that can predict the overall response were also examined and discussed, particularly focusing on the way of considering the volumetric expansion. The results predicted by the proposed and Samaan's bilinear equation models correlated with observed results with a reasonable degree, however it can be judged that the latter is not capable of predicting the response of lateral strains correctly due to incorporating the initial Poisson's ratio and the final converged dilation rate only. Further, the proposed method seems to have greater benefits in other applications by the use of the fundamental principles of mechanics.
The prediction of pressure drop for a droplet flow in a confined micro channel is presented using FE-FTM (Finite Element - Front Tracking Method). A single droplet is passing through 5:1:5 contraction - straight narrow channel - expansion flow domain. The pressure drop is investigated especially when the droplet flows in the straight narrow channel. We explore the effects of droplet size, capillary number (Ca), viscosity ratio ($\chi$) between droplet and medium, and fluid elasticity represented by the Oldroyd-B constitutive model on the excess pressure drop (${\Delta}p^+$) against single phase flow. The tightly fitted droplets in the narrow channel are mainly considered in the range of $0.001{\leq}Ca{\leq}1$ and $0.01{\leq}{\chi}{\leq}100$. In Newtonian droplet/Newtonian medium, two characteristic features are observed. First, an approximate relation ${\Delta}p^+{\sim}{\chi}$ observed for ${\chi}{\geq}1$. The excess pressure drop necessary for droplet flow is roughly proportional to $\chi$. Second, ${\Delta}p^+$ seems inversely proportional to Ca, which is represented as ${\Delta}p^+{\sim}Ca^m$ with negative m irrespective of $\chi$. In addition, we observe that the film thickness (${\delta}_f$) between droplet interface and channel wall decreases with decreasing Ca, showing ${\delta}_f{\sim}Ca^n$ Can with positive n independent of $\chi$. Consequently, the excess pressure drop (${\Delta}p^+$) is strongly dependent on the film thickness (${\delta}_f$). The droplets larger than the channel width show enhancement of ${\Delta}p^+$, whereas the smaller droplets show no significant change in ${\Delta}p^+$. Also, the droplet deformation in the narrow channel is affected by the flow history of the contraction flow at the entrance region, but rather surprisingly ${\Delta}p^+$ is not affected by this flow history. Instead, ${\Delta}p^+$ is more dependent on ${\delta}_f$ irrespective of the droplet shape. As for the effect of fluid elasticity, an increase in ${\delta}_f$ induced by the normal stress difference in viscoelastic medium results in a drastic reduction of ${\Delta}p^+$.
This paper is to compare the carbon-balanced and liner air-fuel ratio determination methods for alternative fuels. In the previous work, expansion of Eltinge chart, unburned hydrocarbon compensation, comparison of the results from various methods were discussed. It has been also concluded that Eltinge method might be regarded as the most general equation of AFR determination among the existing ones. In the recent years, however, increasing demand for the environmental preservation, including global warming-up protection, and energy conservation lead to introduce the alternative fuel to the internal combustion engine. Therefore, the exact calculations of AFR for these fuels are needed. Especially, for the fuel that contains oxygen, all AFR calculation equations except Eltinge have to be re-formulated. In this paper, the AFR for alternative fuel were calculated by re-formulated carbon balance, accuracy of which was already confirmed, and linear equations, which are newly proposed by statistical method for each fuel. The results show that AFRs based on carbon balance have a little more error compared with gasoline, however, the accuracy is enough for this formula to apply to various fuel. The proposed linear equation also have excellent accuracy below $\lambda=1.2$.
A computational program [TDET] of the particle transport equation is developed on radiation shielding problem in two-dimensional cartesian geometry based on the discrete element method. Not like the ordinary discrete ordinates method, the quadrature set of angles is not fixed but steered by the spatially dependent angular fluxes. The angular dependence of the scattering source term in the particle transport equation is described by series expansion in spherical harmonics, and the energy dependence of the particles is considered as well. Three different benchmark tests are made for verification of TDET : For the ray effect analysis on a square absorber with a flat isotropic source, the results of TDET calculation are quite well conformed to those of MORSE-CG calculation while TDET ameliorates the ray effect more effectively than S$_{N}$ calculation. In the analysis of the streaming leakage through a narrow vacuum duct in a shield, TDET shows conspicuous and remarkable results of streaming leakage through the duct as well as MORSE-CG does, and quite better than S$_{N}$ calculation. In a realistic reactor shielding situation which treats in two cases of the isotropic scattering and of linearly anisotropic scattering with two groups of energy, TDET calculations show local ray effect between neighboring meshes compared with S$_{N}$ calculations in which the ray effect extends broadly over several meshes.eshes.

The number of households old over as much as 20 years is expected to get increased rapidly more than 1,000,000(1 million). As a measure to this fact remodeling is being revitalized over the country. parking lots expansion actually takes up a great deal of weight among the requirement for remodeling. When constructing a parking lot for enlargement, the way of going into the main building determines such construction features as selection of Retaining Wall Method, installation of an elevator, parking measure of capacity, etc. This study derived the affecting factors for selecting the way of going into the main building when constructing an underground parking lot. In a research way, we examined the features on each method of going into the main building in an apartment complex through an in-depth interview with some experts after investigating the method of enlarging an underground parking lot and going into the main building. After that, we derived the affecting factors for selecting the way of going into the main building. The affecting factors include constructability, convenience, economic efficiency as a high level as well as existence and nonexistence of basement and removal, safety of current building, parking measure of capacity, amenity, inhabitant traffic line, construction expenses and construction duration as a low one. This study will be applied as a reference for selecting the way of going into the main building when constructing an underground parking lot especially targetted on an old apartment house.

Purpose: In this study, GPR exploration equipment, spray vehicles and flow meters, core drill, borehole image processing system(BIPS), 3D cavity imagery equipment, and cavity formatting equipment were used to identify this cavity growth process. Method: A certain amount of water was injected in proportion to the mass of the cavity, and the cavity was observed to expand as the injected water was drained out. The cavity rating change was evaluated by quantitatively evaluating the expansion factors and the speed of growth. Results: According to the results of examining the volume change through injection time - injection flow rate - volume increase for the four experimenters, the volume increase decreased as the injection time increased, and there was no further increase in volume if injected for one hour or so. Conclusion: In addition, the injection test analyzed the volumetric variation to determine whether the cause of the cavity occurrence was the effect of the underground burial in the vicinity of the cavity. Therefore, it was found that the cavity expansion is caused by the repetition of the relaxation soil collapse due to the groundwater flow and the loss of the collapsed soil below the cavity.

During the construction of underground space expansion of old facilities, it is necessary to secure temporary residence space for existing residents as well as noise and vibration issues during construction, and in the case of commercial, industrial, and social use, damage is expected from suspension of the use of facilities. There is a need for a technology that minimizes noise and vibration during underground expansion, enabling the use of existing facilities even during construction. In this study, a practical underground extension model is proposed by analyzing the behavior of the temporary structure and the surrounding ground as a result of measurement at each construction stage for a actual construction site. In order to solve the problems that occurred during construction, the basement slabs were placed in advance after the initial excavation. The measurement results (building inclinometer, crack measurement system, structure inclinometer and surface settlement meter) at the site were reviewed to analyze the behavior of the temporary structure and surrounding ground. As a result, it was confirmed that the inclinometer of the building and the structural inclinometer showed a tendency that the displacement after the slab line was placed was reduced or converged. The placement of basement slabs during underground extension not only relived the noise and vibration problems during construction, but also secured the stability of structures.
Network expansion has been an inevitable method for most traffic equilibrium assignments to consider intersection movements such as intersection delays. The drawback of network expansion is that because it dramatically increases network sizes to emulate possible directional movements as corresponding links, not only is complexities for building network amplified, but computational performance is shrunk. This paper Proposes a new variational inequality formulation for a user-optimal traffic equilibrium assignment model to explicitly consider directional delays without building expanded network structures. In the formulation, directional delay functions are directly embedded into the objective function, thus any modification of networks is not required. By applying a vine-based shortest Path algorithm into the diagonalization algorithm to solve the problem, it is additionally demonstrated that various loop-related movements such as U-Turn, P-Turn, etc., which are frequently witnessed near urban intersections, can also be imitated by blocking some turning movements of intersections. The proposed formulation expects to augment computational performance through reduction of network-building complexities.

The increasing number of vehicles owned by individuals in association with the rising income resulted in an acute shortage of parking spaces. We are not only seeing a serious traffic congestion arising from the vehicles parked in the streets adjacent to apartment buildings, but also the social issues of not being able to properly prepare for the emergency such as breakout of fires. Although remodeling of old apartment buildings are being discussed in measures to these problems, the research of parking space expansion is still insufficient. In a survey on remodeling of old apartment buildings, over 30 percent of those who answered cited the parking space as the most needed improvement and said they preferred direct entry as a way to expand parking space among lateral underground expansion methods. The direct entry is a method in which one directly enters the apartment house from the parking lot through the elevator and it requires extended operation of elevators. However, because there are no established systematic processes for elevator extension and works of such kinds are not common, elevator extension works are being done in an inefficient manner. In this research we reanalyzed the processes in order to present the items to be examined for more efficient elevator extension works, and through interviews of experts in the field, we produced the examination items by process from the perspectives of management and technology. This research will be used as a reference material for elevator extension works associated with expanding underground parking lot of apartment buildings.
