Serial Tissue Expansion at the Same Site in Pediatric Patients: Is the Subsequent Expansion Faster?

  • Background Serial tissue expansion is performed to remove giant congenital melanocytic nevi. However, there have been no studies comparing the expansion rate between the subsequent and preceding expansions. In this study, we analyzed the rate of expansion in accordance with the number of surgeries, expander location, expander size, and sex. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed in pediatric patients who underwent tissue expansion for giant congenital melanocytic nevi. We tested four factors that may influence the expansion rate: The number of surgeries, expander location, expander size, and sex. The rate of expansion was calculated by dividing the 'inflation amount' by the 'expander size'. Results The expansion rate, compared with the first-time group, was 1.25 times higher in the second-or-more group (P=0.04) and 1.84 times higher in the third-or-more group (P<0.01). The expansion rate was higher at the trunk than at other sites (P<0.01). There was a tendency of lower expansion rate for larger expanders (P=0.03). Sex did not affect the expansion rate. Conclusions There was a positive correlation between the number of surgeries and the expansion rate, a positive correlation between the expander location and the expansion rate, and a negative correlation between the expander size and the expansion rate.

초소형 유기랭킨사이클용 스크롤팽창기 효율 특성 분석 (Analysis of Efficiencies of Scroll Expander for Micro Scale Organic Rankine cycle)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차용 엔진 폐열 회수 유기랭킨사이클에 적용하기 위해 개발 중인 스크롤 팽창기의 효율을 상용 스크롤 팽창기와 비교 분석을 수행하였다. 팽창기 효율 특성 시험을 위해 유기랭킨사이클을 운전하면서 팽창기 출력, 팽창기 입구 온도, 압력 및 작동유체(냉매 R134a)의 유량을 측정하였으며, 개발 중인 스크롤 팽창기의 전효율은 상용 스크롤 팽창기의 전효율에 비해 매우 낮은 수준을 나타내었다. 특히 팽창기 내부의 작동유체 누설에 의한 체적효율 저하가 전효율 저하에 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 파악되었기 때문에 향후 팽창기 효율 향상을 위해 팽창기 내부의 누설문제를 필히 해결해야할 것으로 분석되었다.

핀튜브 열교환기용 전관확관 유닛 개발 (Development of Hybrid Expander Unit for Fin Tube Heat Exchanger)

  • In this paper, the hybrid tube expander unit for fin and tube type heat exchanger are developed by means of enlarging and inserting the smooth tube with a small diameter to a finned tube having larger diameter. In other word, the tube expander tool that is easy to attach and remove from tube is developed. The hybrid tube expander unit developed in this study can move easily and enlarge the tube without fixing at tube sheet. Also, this unit has a function removing scales inside tube by replacing a tube expander ball.

천연가스 유량변화에 따른 터보팽창기 감압시스템 운전 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Operational Optimization of Turbo-Expander Pressure Reduction System to the Natural Gas Flow Rates)

  • 천연가스 감압기지에 터보팽창기 감압시스템을 도입하여 천연가스의 감압과정에서 전기에너지를 생산할 수 있다. 터보팽창기의 효율은 천연가스의 유량과 터보팽창기 설계유량의 비에 따라 달라진다. 따라서 터보팽창기로 들어가는 유량을 조절함으로써 감압시스템을 운전하기 위한 최적조건을 결정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 두 곳의 저압 정압기지에서 천연가스의 압력이 17.5 bar에서 8.5 bar로 감압될 때 천연가스의 유량에 따라 생산 가능한 전력을 계산하고 계산결과의 비교를 통해 터보팽창기 감압시스템이 최적으로 운전되기 위한 조건을 찾았다. 천연가스의 평균 유량이 크고 유량의 변화가 작을 때 터보팽창기가 효율적으로 운전되었고 터보팽창기의 설계유량은 천연가스의 유량을 가장 많이 포함하는 용량에서 결정되었다. 선정된 두 정압기지에서 회수 가능한 전력생산량은 9 MW(B 기지), 12 MW(D 기지)로 추산되었다.

  • 천연가스 운송기지에서 전기에너지를 회수하기위하여 팽창 터빈시스템을 사용하는 것은 잘 알려진 기술이다. 터보팽창기의 효율은 천연가스의 유량과 터보팽창기 설계유량의 비에 따라 달라진다. 그러나 감압기지에서 계절적 공급패턴, 즉 여름에는 낮은 유량으로 반면에 겨울에는 높은 유량으로 공급되기 때문에, 단일 터보팽창기로는 낮은 유량의 천연가스로부터 감압에너지를 충분히 회수하기가 비효율적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대용량과 소용량의 이중 터보팽창기의 새로운 개념을 제안하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 저압 정압기지에서 팽창밸브의 평균 입구, 출구 압력조건인 18.5 bar에서 7.5 bar로 감압될 때 입구의 온도, 유량조건에 따라서 생산 가능한 전력을 이론적 배경을 통해 계산하였다. 최저 설계 효율 0.72에서 회수 가능한 전력생산량은 단일 터보팽창기로 운전될 때에는 12.4 MW이었으나, 여기서 제안한 이중터보팽창기에서는 16.1 MW로 약 30% 증가한 결과를 얻게 되었다.

일체형 로타리 압축기-베인 팽창기 (A Combined Rotary Compressor-vane Expander)

  • As a means of improving cycle performance of a R410A air-conditioning system, a combined structure of compressor and expander was introduced. A vane rotary type expander was designed to share a common shaft with twin type rolling piston rotary compressor in a housing. Numerical simulation on the performance of the combined compressor and expander was carried out. At ARI condition, the volumetric and total efficiencies of the designed vane expander were 69.37% and 30.23%, respectively. With the application of this expander, the compressor input was reduced by 3.91%, and the cooling capacity was increased by 3.98%. As a result, COP of the air-conditioning system was improved by 8.2%. As the pressure difference between the condenser and the evaporator becomes large, COP improvement increases unless the mass flow rate in the expander exceeds that in the compressor.

초소형 유기랭킨사이클 적용 프로토 타입 베인 팽창기에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of Vane Expander Prototype Applied to Micro Organic Rankine Cycle)

  • 본 연구에서는 프로토 타입 베인 팽창기가 적용된 초소형 유기 랭킨사이클을 구성하고, 팽창기 전단 온도가 약 $110^{\circ}C$이고, 냉매유량을 일정하게 유지한 조건에서 베인 팽창기 회전수를 변화시키면서, 팽창기 출력, 효율 및 팽창기 전후단 압력, 온도 등을 측정하였다. 베인 팽창기 성능 측정 결과 팽창기 회전수가 증가됨에 따라 팽창기 출력 및 효율이 증가하였다. 팽창기 전효율은 500 rpm 회전수 조건에서 6~7%이고, 1000 rpm 에서는 11~12%임을 보였다. 팽창기 전효율이 낮은 원인은 팽창기 체적효율이 낮기 때문인 것으로 분석되었으며, 향후 체적효율을 향상시키기 위해 팽창기 누설을 개선하기 위한 연구가 진행될 예정이다.

차량용 CO2 에어컨 사이클 성능 향상을 위한 일체형 팽창기-압축기 성능 해석 (An Analysis of the Performance of a Combined Expander-Compressor Unit for a CO2 Automotive Air Conditioning Cycle)

  • A design combining the use of a compressor and expander was introduced in order to improve the cycle performance of a $CO_2$ automotive air conditioning system. Both the compressor and expander used were of rotary vane type and were designed to share a common shaft in a housing. Numerical simulation was carried out to evaluate the merit of the combined unit. In a typical automotive air conditioning operating conditions, the COP of the system was improved by 8.7% by the application of the combined unit. The compressor input was reduced by 5.2% through use of the expander output. In addition, about 3.06% increase in the cooling capacity was obtained through isentropic expansion in the expander. Our study noted that, as the pressure difference between the gas cooler and the evaporator becomes larger, the COP of the system improved increases unless the mass flow rate in the expander exceeds that in the compressor.

공기구동 스크롤 팽창기 성능특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Performance Characteristics of Air Driven Scroll Expander)

  • The performance of a scroll expander is the most important factor for the efficiency of small scale Organic Rankine cycle waste heat power generation systems. In this research, a scroll compressor was purchased and operated in reverse to function as a scroll expander. With air as a working fluid, a series of performance test were conducted on this expander by varying the inlet and outlet pressure. Secondly, We have tested through 2000 to 3500 rpm rotational speed to find the maximum power and efficiency of the expander. And last, It was observed in the initial experiments that the design of the expander's orbiting scroll wrap partially blocked the fluid intake which may have caused unnecessary flow resistance. To verify this theory, a small part of the scroll wrap was removed and the performance test was redone. It was observed that the lower back pressure assure the higher efficiency and power of expander and the rotational speed that shows maximum adiabetic efficiency of scroll expander is 69% at 2500 rpm. And by modified wrap of the scroll, we could get volume flow rate for 13% to 19% and power for 5% to 18% increased. But the maximum efficiency of the modified scroll was decreased 8%.

연료 전지용 터보 익스펜더의 공기 포일 베어링에 대한 연구 (Study on the Air Foil Bearings of the Turbo-Expander for Fuel Cell System)

  • As fuel cell system is environmental friendly generator, its performance depends on its air supply system. Because, fuel cell stack generates electrical energy by electron and the electron is generated by reacting between air and hydrogen. So, more and more compressed air is supplied, more and more the energy can be obtained. In this study, turbo-expander supported by air foil bearing is introduced as the air supply system used by fuel cell systems. The turbo-expander is a turbo machine which operates at high speed, so air foil bearings suit its purpose for the bearing elements. Analysis for confirming the stability and endurance is conducted. Based on FDM and Newton-Raphson method, characteristics of air foil bearing, dynamic coefficients, pressure field and load capacity, are obtained. Using the characteristics of air foil bearing, the rotordynamic analysis is performed by finite element method. The analysis (stability analysis and critical speed map) shows that turbo-expander is stability at running speed. After the analysis, the test process and results are presented. The goals of test are running up to 90,000 RPM, flow rate of 150 $m^3/h$ and pressure ratio of 1.15. The test results show that the aerodynamic performance and stability of turbo-expander are satisfied to the primary goals.
