흡.배기 밸브의 밀착이상이 엔진연소특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of an Abnormal Adjusting Intake and Exhaust Valves on the Combustion Characteristics of SI Engine)

  • The unbalance of the power output, noise, and vibration is happened by the disproportionate pressure variation in the cylinder. For this reason, decrease of the pressure in the cylinder and increase of the residual gas effect on the engine performance. If the abnormal combustion is continued, the crack would be occurred in the engine block. And it could be broken down. For the normal combustion of the SI engine, it is important to supply the balanced mixture by each operating condition. In this study, it was tested the combustion characteristics in the cylinder according to the abnormal adjusting of intake & exhaust valve. This test is willing to set a basic data's analysis fur developing an automotive diagnosis system by analyzing the pressure in the cylinder, the output signal of MAP sensor, the exhaust gas, etc.

  • Experimental studies were performed to improve the THC emission characteristics by optimizing the flow in the exhaust manifold and CCC in a SI engine. For this purpose the flow characteristics in the exhaust manifold and CCC were measured by using LDV technique under various engine conditions, Referring to these data a new type exhaust manifold was designed to improve the cold-start emission characteristics and the response characteristics of {{{{ OMICRON _2}}}} sensor by optimizing the flow pattern and reducing the thermal inertia of the exhaust manifold system. It was found through the vehicle emission tests that the emission characteristics of THC of the new type exhaust manifold was improved by 12% through the optimizing the flow pattern in the exhaust manifold.

벌크 트레일러의 순간 및 누적 분말 배출량 추정을 위한 신경망 모델 성능 비교 (Performance Comparison of Neural Network Models for the Estimation of Instantaneous and Accumulated Powder Exhausts of a Bulk Trailer)

  • Bulk trailers, used for the transportation of powdered materials, such as cement and fly ash, are crucial in the construction industry. The speedy exhaustion of powdered materials stored in the tank of bulk trailers is relevant to improving transportation efficiency and reducing transportation costs. The exhaust time can be reduced by developing an automatic control system to replace the manual exhaust operation. The instantaneous or accumulated exhausts of powdered materials must be measured for automatic control of the bulk trailer exhaust system. Accordingly, we previously proposed a recurrent neural network (RNN) model that estimated the instantaneous exhaust based on low-cost pressure sensor signals without an expensive flowmeter for powders. Although our previous study utilized only an RNN model, models such as multilayer perceptron (MLP) and convolutional neural network (CNN) are also widely utilized for time-series estimation. This study compares the performance of three neural network models (MLP, CNN, and RNN) in estimating instantaneous and accumulated exhausts. In terms of the instantaneous exhaust estimation, the difference in the performance of neural network models was insignificant (that is, 8.64, 8.62, and 8.56% for the MLP, CNN, and RNN, respectively, in terms of the normalized root mean squared error). However, in the case of the accumulated exhaust, the performance was excellent in the order of CNN (1.67%), MLP (2.03%), and RNN (2.20%).

소형 이륜자동차의 머플러 배기압력 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Exhaust Pressure Charactieristics in the small motorcycle.)

  • In this study, a experiment has been developed for measuring the exhaust pressure of muffler at inlet and outlet. The main experimental parameters were a engine speed and sound absorbing material in the muffler. The muffler sound absorbing material tested a steel wool and glass wool. The exhaust pressure was measured with pressure sensor. The phase of exhaust pressure with high speed was moved according to increasing engine speed comparing with exhaust pressure with low speed. Also, the distribution of exhaust pressure at the model-1, 2 and 3 are similar with distribution of exhaust pressure at muffler inlet.

  • This work forcus on the development of gas sensor that measure the concentrations of exhaust gas using diode laser. Each diode laser for exhaust gas measurement is set to work at near-IR using both DA and WMS methods. Also use of fiber-coupled optical elements makes such a sensor rugged and easy to align. On-line data acquisition and processing can be performed with a PC running LabVIEW software, and absorption signals are measured simultaneously by multiplexing method. Finally, It were experimentally compared WMS (Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy) with DA (Direct Absorption) for the accuracy.

내구성이 개선된 발전용 가스터빈 온도센서 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Step-Up Converter with the New Topology Method)

  • 본 논문은 전력발전용 가스터빈에 사용하는 내구성이 개선된 Exhaust Gas Temperature(EGT)센서에 관한 연구이다. 가스 터빈에 적용된 EGT 센서는 고온으로 인하여 EGT 센서의 커넥터가 손상되는 문제가 있고 회전 날개의 회전으로 인해 발생하는 심각한 진동 조건에서 센서의 물리적으로 약한 부분이 진동으로 인하여 손상이 야기되기도 한다. 이러한 문제들은 잦은 센서 교체를 유발하고, 발전 효율을 감소시킨다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점들을 분석하고 개선방법을 제시하였고, 제안된 EGT 센서의 성능을 평가하기 위해서, 고온과 진동조건을 동시에 시험할 수 있는 복합 환경 테스트 장비를 개발하였다. EGT센서의 정확도와 응답시간을 평가하고 열과 진동의 복합환경 시험 장비로 비교시험한 결과 기존 센서는 탄화문제가 발생하였지만, 제안된 센서는 이러한 문제가 해결된 것을 확인하였다.

YSZ 전해질을 이용한 농담전지식 자동차용 NOx센서 (Potentiometric NOx sensors for automotive exhaust using YSZ(yittria stabilized zirconia) electrolyte)

  • Two kinds of new NOx sensing mechanism was proposed and examined. One of those was potentiomtric sensor based on the measurement of decomposed oxygen from NO using YSZ porous diffusion barrier and Pd catalytic electrode. The sensor based on decomposed oxygen measurement responded to the range of 300 - 1000 ppm NO in $N_{2}$ environment and the sensitivities were coincident with theoretical values at 700 and $800^{\circ}C$ but the decomposition rate depended on gas flow rate. The other sensor was equilibrium potentiometric type using $Gd_{2}O_{3}$-nitrates solid solution as sensing material. The sensor using $Gd_{2}O_{3}$-nitrates solid solution was suitable for NOxxsensing at $700^{\circ}C$ in 5 % oxygen and the sensitivity was 19.3 mV/decade. However, long term stability of the sensing material at high temperature was not sufficient.

  • Recently, Air pollution is gradually increasing which are coming from the exhaust of the ICE vehicles in the world. ICE vehicle exhaust gas and $CO_2$ are widely suspected of contributing to the called greenhouse effect, fueling fears of global warming. Therefore, many countries are striving to decrease the vehicle exhaust gas and have developed a variety of policies as air pollution regulation plans. To comply with the regulations, automotive industry has developed hybrid vehicles, which have features of both ICE vehicles and electric vehicles. Hybrid car is eco-friendly and has lowered exhausting gases and improved fuel efficiency. This research has been written to show that break down cases with EGR valve in hybrid cars, steadily increasing in use, and to help with on-site maintenance.

  • To develop the Exhaust Maniverter(Manifold and converter) it needs to consider flow characteristics related to durability and performance of the catalyst, manufacturability, etc. This paper presents the analysis results regarding to flow characteristics such as flow uniformity, tangential speed, O2 sensor sensitivity and CHT (conjugate heat transfer) for the LCF(Low Cycle Fatigue) for gasoline 2.0 liter engine. The results are satisfactorily corresponded to the general criteria. Also skin temperature and pressure drop wire measured at the Engine Bench. These results can be useful for the design guide for Exhaust Maniverter.

메탄올기관과 흡.배기 밸브에서의 열유속 특성 (Characteristics of Heat Flux in Intake and Exhaust Valve of Methanol Fueled Engine)

  • Instantaneous surface temperature and unsteady heat flux of intake and exhaust valve in methanol fueled engine were investigate as a function of compression ratio and engine speed. To accomplish this purpose, the instantaneous temperature sensor was designed and it was installed into three point of intake and exhaust valve head to measure unsteady temperature. The unsteady heat flux at valves was evaluated using one dimensional heat conduction equation with the valve head temperature and temperature gradient. And also mean heat flux of intake and exhaust valve for each stroke were evaluated as a function of engine speed.
