비디오 컨텐츠를 사용한 홈 트레이닝이 만성 허리 통증이 있는 대학생의 배근육 두께, 허리기능 및 통증에 미치는 영향 (The effect of home training using video contents on abdominal muscle thickness, Oswestry disability index, and pain in students with chronic low back pain)

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effect of training using video content on abdominal muscle thickness, Oswestry disability index (ODI), and pain in college students with chronic back pain. METHODS: Twenty-nine college students with chronic back pain participated in this study. The subjects were assigned randomly to 15 experimental groups who trained using video content and 14 control groups who exercised voluntarily using back exercise leaflets. The video used for the intervention was obtained from YouTube, and the difficulty level of the video was classified into six levels. Both groups participated in the intervention for 40 minutes/day, three times a week for six weeks, and the variables of abdominal muscle thickness, ODI, and pain were compared before and after the intervention. RESULTS: In the experimental group, there were statistically significant changes in the thickness of the internal oblique and transverse abdominis muscles, ODI, and pain after the intervention, except for the external oblique muscle (p < .05). In the control group, there was no statistically significant difference in all variables after the intervention (p > .05). A statistically significant difference in all variables was observed between the experimental group and the control group after the intervention except for the external oblique muscle (p < .05). CONCLUSION: Treatment of chronic low back pain using video content is a possible alternative treatment if quality images are selected and the difficulty levels are adjusted.

Korean Adolescents' Experience of Yoga Class: "Healthy Habits Beyond Exercise"

  • Purpose: This study was designed to explore adolescents' experience with yoga class in South Korea. Methods: Qualitative data were collected by focus group interviews from February to March 2014. Eleven adolescents who experienced yoga class were recruited from two different schools. The interview questions investigated adolescents' experience with yoga regarding expectations before yoga class, positive changes after yoga, and advice for future yoga classes. Results: Three primary themes from the qualitative content analysis include 1) motivation to join a yoga class, 2) perceived benefits after class and 3) suggestions for school-based yoga. We found that high school students had intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to join yoga classes, and the perceived benefits included physical, psychological, cognitive and social aspects. The students also indicated the need for support by person, yoga with fun and information, yoga tailored by individual goal, simple and easy class. Conclusion: These results suggest that yoga could be an appropriate intervention for holistic health care, and school-based yoga should be applied by focusing on the various situational needs of adolescents'. Furthermore, when yoga leads to healthy habits compared to just simple exercise, a balanced development of adolescents can be achieved.

비만아동에 대한 비만관리프로그램의 효과 (Effects of Obesity Management Program for Obese Elementary School Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of a obesity management program on BMI, body composition, knowledge, perception and attitudes, mood and exercise habits in obese elementary school children with the goal of developing nursing interventions to promote a healthy lifestyle. Method: The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test. The content of the 8-week obesity management program included obesity education, diet control education, behavioral modification education, counseling, hand-reflexo massage, and exercise. Participants were 36 obese children who were students in elementary schools in K city. Data collection was done from October $4^{th}$ to November $28^{th}$, 2005. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Results: After the students received the obesity management program, their BMI scores were significantly lowered, and scores for mood and excercise habits were significantly improved. Conclusion: The results show this obesity management program is effective in changing the BMI, mood, and behavioral modifications in obese students. The results suggest that this program be utilized to manage obesity in obese children, and that this study be replicated to compare an experimental group with a control group in order to verify the effects of the obesity management program.

관상동맥질환자를 위한 위험요인관리 프로그램 분석 (The Analysis of Risk Factor Management Programs for Patients with Coronary Artery Disease)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to analyse the trends of risk factor management programs for patients with coronary artery disease. Methods: Using PubMed, 35 intervention studies related to risk factor management programs among randomized controlled trials searched with the key words of coronary artery disease and coronary heart disease. Collected studies were analysed according to the characteristics of studies and participants, method and content of intervention, and outcome indicator and its effects. Results: The mean period of intervention was $28.7{\pm}26.8$ weeks, the mean frequency was $3.0{\pm}2.0$ times per week, and the duration of one session was below 60 minuets in 65.8% of the reviewed studies. The interventions were counselling, exercise, education, and cognitive behavior therapy. Counselling was applied most frequently in previous studies. The outcomes of intervention had been measured with anthropometric, physical, physiological, psychological, behavioral, and cognitive aspects, but the effect of the intervention was inconsistent among the studies. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, systematic and comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program consisted of counselling, exercise, and education should be developed and performed for health management and relapse prevention of patients with coronary artery disease.

노인의료복지시설 생활지도원의 직무스트레스와 근골격계 증상 (Job Stress and Musculoskeletal Symptoms of Care Workers at Medical Welfare Facilities for Elders)

  • Purpose: This study is a descriptive survey to find out musculoskeletal symptoms in care workers working at medical welfare facilities for elders and factors affecting such symptoms. Methods: Data were collected from 115 care workers selected through convenient sampling from 6 medical welfare facilities in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do during the period from May 15th to May 19th. 2006. The Korean version of Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ) were used. Result: Of the subjects, 81.7% complained of musculoskeletal symptoms in two or more parts of their body. The frequency of body parts with musculoskeletal symptoms was high in order of shoulder, leg/foot, waist, neck/hand/wrist/finger and arm/elbow. The average job insecurity instability in the age group of 50-59 was 9.19, the average degree of regular exercise was 59.68. and the average job demand in those diagnosed with musculoskeletal diseases was 47.06, and the average job demand in those wounded during exercise or by an accident was 47.78, and all these were statistically significant. The heavier physical load in their work was, the higher their complaint of musculoskeletal symptoms was. In the lower social support group, the degree of complaint on musculoskeletal symptoms was remarkably high. Conclusion: The physical load of their duty and social support worked as the factors affecting musculoskeletal symptoms in care workers.

한국여성의 골밀도와 운동과의 관계 (The Relationship of Exercise to Bone Mineral Density of Korean Women in Taegu)

  • The relationship between exercise and hone mineral density (BMD) was investigated in 153 healthy women. The BMD of lumbar spine, femur(neck, ward's triangle, trochanter) and total body was determined by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in a group subjects(65) aged 19-59 years who had been exercising(swimming or aerobic dancing) regularly for at least 2 years as well as in a similar group of nonexercising control subjects(88). Weight, height, total lean body mass(=weight-total fat body mass-bone mineral content), animal and meat Ca, Ca index, energy expenditure, BMD, PYD/Cr were significantly higher in the exercisers than the controls. There were significantly negative correlations between age, ALP and osteocalcin and BMD, but significantly positive correlations between weight, BMI, total fat body mass and total lean body mass and BMD. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that total lean body mass may be a better independent predictor to BMD than total fat body mass. The nutrient intakes were more closely related to BMD in the exercisers than the controls, but energy expenditure was more closely related to BMD in the controls than the exercisers Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that BMD was closely related to menopause, osteocalcin, age, weight in both groups but energy intake in the exercisers alone, energy expenditure in control alone. In premenopausal women, the exercisers had significantly greater BMD than the controls. But, in postmenopausal women, no significant difference between two groups was detected. When compared to BMD of the subjects with same age range to minimize the effect of age, aerobic dancing appears to be capable of exerting a positive effect on BMD in a group of subjects aged 19-44. However, no relationship of the swimming to BMD could be identified in a group of subjects aged 37-59. The results of this study suggest that the usefulness of exercisng appears to be significantly greater in preemenopausal women than postmenoparusal women and weight bearing activity, aerobic dancing is associated with increasing BMD at the weight bearing sites and could be beneficial in the prevention of bone loss. But the usefulness of swimming on bone should be further investgated.

당뇨병환자에게 적용한 중재프로그램 연구논문 분석 (Analysis of Reported Study on Intervention Programs for Patients with Diabetes Mellitus)

  • 본 연구는 당뇨병 환자에게 적용한 중재프로그램의 효과를 분석한 국내 연구논문의 내용을 분석한 연구이며, 검색은 Riss4u, 국회도서관, 국립 중앙도서관 등을 이용하였다. 검색어는 "당뇨병 환자", "당뇨병환자와 교육", "당뇨병환자와 운동", "당뇨병환자와 중재", "당뇨병환자와 교육 또는 운동"이었다. 선정기준에 적합한 53편의 논문을 중재프로그램의 적용방법 및 효과변수로 구분하여 분석하였고, 유형은 총 8가지이며 사용된 효과변수는 113가지이다. 가장 많이 사용된 유형은 교육과 상담을 동시 적용한 경우 이며 당 대사, 자가 간호, 자기 효능감이 자주 사용되는 종속변수였다. 중재프로그램의 적용방법은 다양하였으며, 효과변수의 결과는 효과가 없거나 상이한 경우도 있었다. 향후 중재프로그램의 기대효과를 높이기 위해서는 디지털 융합 시대에 적합한 체계적인 내용 구성 및 운동이 적극적으로 포함되어야 할 것이며, 또한 사회 심리적 변수를 포함한 효과변수의 선정 및 효과변수 측정법에 대한 고려가 필요하다.

Kinect 센서를 활용하는 노인 하체 근력 강화 시스템 연구 (A Study on the Lower Body Muscle Strengthening System Using Kinect Sensor)

  • 본 논문에서 구현한 고령자 홈 트레이닝 콘텐츠는 사용자의 운동 능력에 따라 개인별 운동 처방을 하여 이를 통해 노인 개개인에게 맞춤형 프로그램을 제공한다. 고령화 인구 증가와 대비되는 노인의 낮은 건강 수명을 극복하기 위한 건강 증진은 필수적이다. 따라서 노인의 사망 위험 중 높은 비중을 차지하는 낙상을 예방하기 위한 하체 근력 강화운동이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 노인이 자연환경 속에서 본인이 운동 한다고 느낄 수 있는 홈 트레이닝 콘텐츠 개발을 목표로 하였다. 이를 위해 Kinect 센서를 사용하여 골격 모델의 특징점을 추출하고 특징 벡터를 생성하여 사용자의 운동 횟수를 인식하였다. 제안하는 게임 모델을 사용하여 운동 능력 테스트를 수행하고 이를 기반으로 개인의 능력에 맞는 운동을 처방받아 운동을 수행할 수 있다. 키넥트 센서의 인식 테스트 결과 80%~97%의 정확도를 보였다.

시설노인의 골다공증 관련요인 연구 (A Study of Related Factors in the Bone Mineral Density of the Institutionalized Elderly)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure and determine the relationship of femoral neck and lumbar bone mineral density with their and related factors. It were measured and determined the relationships among bone mineral density, bone mineral content in the lumbar and femoral neck, muscle strength (arm, back, leg), muscle endurance, instrumental activity of daily living (IADL), quality of life, cognitive perceptual variables(self efficacy, perceived health status), age, age at menopausal period. The twenty five subjects participating in this study consisted of twelve males and thirteen females at a C-institution in Chung Buk province. The mean age of subjects was 73.64 years. The data was collected from August, 1993 to September, 1993. The data was analyzed with $x^2-test$, t-test, Correlation, multiple regression using a SPSS pc+ program. 1. The mean femoral neck bone mineral density was $0.636g/cm^2$, 66.7% of young bone mineral density, the mean lumbar($L_2-L_4$) bone mineral density was $0.807g/cm^2$, 79.86% of young bone mineral density. The mean fermoral neck bone mineral content was 2.906g and the mean lumbar bone mineral content was 36.898g. 2. The mean muscle strength was 17.14kg(grip strength), 32.05kg(back lift strength), 17.14kg (leg lift strength) and the mean muscle endurance was 9.92times. 3. Men showed a significantly higher score (p<0.01) in muscle strength and muscle endurance than women, as well as a significantly higher score on self efficacy and perceived health status(p<0.05). 4. The femur neck bone mineral density had a significant correlation(p<0.0l) with leg lift strength, back lift strength, and their was a significant correlations (p<0.05) with arm strength and muscle endurance. Lumbar ($L_2-L_2$) bone mineral density had a significant correlation(p<0.05) with muscle endurance, grip strength and IADL. 5. With the multiple regression analysis the most significant predictor for lumbar bone mineral density were IADL, the most significant predictor for femoral neck bone mineral density was leg strength. This study concluded: As the mean bone mineral density and bone mineral content were low, the aged showed osteopenia. Bone mineral density, muscle strength and IADL were correlated. The aged could pro mote muscle strength, bone mineral density and IADL through Leg Press exercise which was safe and efficient for the aged. This Leg Press exercise contributed to prevention of osteoporosis and promoted the health of the aged.

지구성 운동시 옻나무 추출액의 지질과산화 및 염증성사이토카인 억제효과 (Inhibitory Effect of Rhus Verniciflua Extract on Lipid Peroxidation and Inflammatory Cytokines during Endurance Exercise Training)

  • 옻나무 추출액을 섭취하며 운동훈련을 부하하였을 때 항산화기능 및 염증성사이토카인의 차이에 대하여 연구하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 Sprague-Dawley(SD)계 수컷 쥐를 대상으로 SED(안정군), TRA(운동훈련군), RVE(옻나무 추출액 섭취군), 그리고 RVE-TRA(옻나무 추출액 섭취와 운동 병행군)으로 구분하였다. TRA와 RVE-TRA는 점증적부하법을 이용한 트레드밀 훈련을 실시하였으며, RVE와 RVE-TRA에게는 10 mL/kg의 옻나무 추출액을 경구투여 하였다. 항산화기능을 분석하기 위하여 혈중 superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), malondialdehyde(MDA)를 분석하였으며, 염증성사이토카인의 변화분석을 위하여 interleukin-6(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-${\alpha}$), C-reactive protein(CRP), nitric oxide(NO)를 분석하였다. SOD는 RVE-TRA가 다른 집단에 비하여 가장 높았으며, TRA가 SED와 RVE에 비하여 유의하게 높았다. GSH-Px는 SED가 다른 집단에 비하여 유의하게 낮았다. MDA는 SED에 비하여 다른 집단에서 모두 유의하게 낮았다. IL-6와 TNF-${\alpha}$는 RVE와 RVE-TRA가 다른 두 집단에 비하여 낮았다. 또한 CRP는 SED가 다른 집단에 비하여 가장 낮았다. NO는 SED와 TRA가 다른 두 집단에 비하여 높았다. 이러한 결과를 볼 때, 운동시옻나무 추출액의 섭취는 지질과산화를 억제시키고 항염증성 반응을 유발하여 운동시 발생가능한 부작용을 억제할 수 있는 결과를 보였다. 이점을 고려하여 옻추출물이 가지고 있는 특성을 최대한 활용하여 다양한 방법으로 접근한다면 우리나라 전역에 걸쳐 자생하고 있는 옻나무의 활용도를 증대시킬 수 있으리라 생각된다.
