Fast Outlier Removal for Image Registration based on Modified K-means Clustering

  • Outlier detection and removal is a crucial step needed for various image processing applications such as image registration. Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) is known to be the best algorithm so far for the outlier detection and removal. However RANSAC requires a cosiderable computation time. To drastically reduce the computation time while preserving the comparable quality, a outlier detection and removal method based on modified K-means is proposed. The original K-means was conducted first for matching point pairs and then cluster merging and member exclusion step are performed in the modification step. We applied the methods to various images with highly repetitive patterns under several geometric distortions and obtained successful results. We compared the proposed method with RANSAC and showed that the proposed method runs 3~10 times faster than RANSAC.

  • In this paper we propose a new method for modeling indoor environment with stereo camera and suggest a localization method for mobile robot navigation on the basis of it. From the viewpoint of easiness in map building and exclusion of artificiality, the main idea of this paper is that environment is represented as global topological map and each node has omni-directional metric and color information by using stereo camera and pan/tilt mechanism. We use the depth and color information itself in image pixel as feature for environmental abstraction.   • Electron transport properties are investigated by Monte Carlo simulation in n-HgCdTe. The material is easily degenerated at low temperature or being slightly doped, and is characterized by small band gap and large nonparabolic factor. The degeneracy is incorporated in the Monte Carlo simulation by taking into account the electron-electron scattering and the pauli exclusion principle. In the conventional method, however, the electron-electron scattering rate was developed under the assumption of parabolic conduction band. A new formulation of the electron-electron scattering rate is develop considering the band nonparabolicity and overlap integral. The electron-electron scattering effects on the electron distribution,impact ionization coefficienty, electron temperature, drift velocity and electron energy are presented.

  • In this paper, we present a novel semaphore implementation scheme which shortens finish time of high priority tasks and improves reliability of a system. The real-time systems have time constraints. Especially, the task with hard real-time constraints must meet its deadline. Consequently, managing shared resources is considered guaranteeing mutual exclusion as well as meeting task's deadline under unfavorable condition. According to the number and sort of the locked semaphores under the event occurred, this paper presents the reduction of the finish time of high priority task by decision whether the context switched or not. The experimental results show that the proposed method gives performance improvements in finish time of high priority tasks of about 11% over zuberi[4] method.

  • Many isolated word recognition systems may generate non-similar words for recognition candidates because they use only acoustic information. The previous study [1,2] investigated several techniques which can exclude non-similar words from N-best candidate words by applying Levenstein distance measure. This paper discusses the various improving techniques of removing non-similar recognition results. The mentioned methods include comparison penalties or weights, phone accuracy based on confusion information, weights candidates by ranking order and partial comparisons. Through experimental results, it is found that some proposed method keeps more accurate recognition results than the previous method's results.

Semi closed-form pricing autocallable ELS using Brownian Bridge

  • This paper discusses the pricing of autocallable structured product with knock-in (KI) feature using the exit probability with the Brownian Bridge technique. The explicit pricing formula of autocallable ELS derived in the existing paper handles the part including the minimum of the Brownian motion using the inclusion-exclusion principle. This has the disadvantage that the pricing formula is complicate because of the probability with minimum value and the computational volume increases dramatically as the number of autocall chances increases. To solve this problem, we applied an efficient and robust simulation method called the Brownian Bridge technique, which provides the probability of touching the predetermined barrier when the initial and terminal values of the process following the Brownian motion in a certain interval are specified. We rewrite the existing pricing formula and provide a brief theoretical background and computational algorithm for the technique. We also provide several numerical examples computed in three different ways: explicit pricing formula, the Crude Monte Carlo simulation method and the Brownian Bridge technique.

Measurement of Retention, Repellency and Penetration of Pesticide for Protective Clothing (방제복에 대한 농약의 체류성, 발수성 및 침투성 측정)

  • BACKGROUND: The personal protective equipments (PPEs) is the most important factor for reducing the pesticide exposure during the preparation and spraying of pesticides. This study was to investigate the retention, repellence and penetration of protective clothing of PPEs according to the ISO 22608 'Liquid penetration resistance-pipette test. Protective clothing for agriculture worker is very important for their health. However, test method for measurement of protective clothing is not presented in Korea. METHODS AND RESULTS: In order to measure the retention, repellence and penetration of protective clothing, a apparatus for pipette method in accordance with the ISO Guideline was prepared. The test was conducted at $25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$, $60{\pm}10%$ of relative humidity and pipette applied to a apparatus was validated to take exact amount(0.2 mL). The retention, repellence and penetration of five types of protective clothing and one type of shirt were analyzed by GC/MS. Pendimethalin(5% a.i, emulsion) was used as a test pesticide to measure above factors. The retention were less than 11.0% with the exclusion of two types(F4 and shirt) and the repellency was more than 67.0% with the exclusion of shirt material. The penetration was less than 5.4%, however, that of shirt was 66.7%. CONCLUSION: This results indicated that all protective clothing were suitable to use as PPEs according to the criteria specified by ISO Guide 22608. However, shirt was not suitable due to high penetration. This test method established for measurement the retention, repellence and penetration of protective clothing will help to establish the test notice of pipette method.

  • On 11 June 2021, the Supreme Court ruled that the judgment of the lower court was justified for the subject case, that the plaintiff could assert the defendant's liability for default due to incomplete performance even though the warranty period for defects which stipulated in the particular condition of the contract has expired. In Korean civil law, the concurrent between the exclusion period for defect warranty and the extinctive prescription for default liability is conceded, since the exclusion period and the extinctive prescription have their respective purposes in law, therefore these two should be judged by harmonizing them based on that they are mutually related. If the subject judgment is generalized, there is no reason to exist for the provisions of defect liability in the construction contract any longer. This study examines the subject judgments through the general theory and precedent case studies on the defect liability and default liability, then derived any problems that may arise if the subject judgment is generalized. In addition, based on a realistic model, it was suggested for a practical improvement method that both the provisions of the warranty period shall be changed realistic and to stipulate the character of its nature as written provisions in the contract.

Synthesis of Nano-Sized Cu Powder by PVA Solution Method and Thermal Characteristics of Sintered Cu Powder Compacts (PVA 용액법을 통한 나노 Cu 분말합성 및 소결체의 열적 특성)

  • Effective control of the heat generated from electronics and semiconductor devices requires a high thermal conductivity and a low thermal expansion coefficient appropriate for devices or modules. A method of reducing the thermal expansion coefficient of Cu has been suggested wherein a ceramic filler having a low thermal expansion coefficient is applied to Cu, which has high thermal conductivity. In this study, using pressureless sintering rather than costly pressure sintering, a polymer solution synthesis method was used to make nano-sized Cu powder for application to Cu matrix with an AlN filler. Due to the low sinterability, the sintered Cu prepared from commercial Cu powder included large pores inside the sintered bodies. A sintered Cu body with Zn, as a liquid phase sintering agent, was prepared by the polymer solution synthesis method for exclusion of pores, which affect thermal conductivity and thermal expansion. The pressureless sintered Cu bodies including Zn showed higher thermal conductivity (180 W/m·K) and lower thermal expansion coefficient (15.8×10-6/℃) than did the monolithic synthesized Cu sintered body.

Decision of Abnormal Quality Unit Lists from Claim Database

  • Most enterprises have controlled claim data related to marketing, production, trade and delivery. They can extract the engineering information needed to the reliability of unit from the claim data, and also detect critical and latent reliability problems. Existing method which could detect abnormal quality unit lists in early stage from claim database has three problems: the exclusion of fallacy probability in claim, the false occurrence of claim fallacy alarm caused by not reflecting inventory information and too many excessive considerations of claim change factors. In this paper, we propose a process and methods extracting abnormal quality unit lists to solve three problems of existing method. Proposed one includes data extraction process for reliability measurement, the calculation method of claim fallacy alarm probability, the method for reflecting inventory time in calculating claim reliability and the method for identification of abnormal quality unit lists. This paper also shows that proposed mechanism could be effectively used after analyzing improved effects taken from automotive company's claim data adaptation for two years.
