  • In the case of a precision equipment, it requires a vibration free environment to provide its proper function. Especially, lithography and inspection devices, which have sub-nanometer class high accuracy and resolution, have come to necessity for producing more improved giga class semiconductor wafers. This high technology equipments require very strict environmental vibration standard in proportion to the accuracy of the manufacturing, inspecting devices. The vibration criteria are usually obtained either by the real vibration exciting test on the equipment or by the analytical calculation. This paper proposes a new method to solve this problem at a time. The permissible vibration level to a precision equipment can be easily obtained by analyzing a process of Frequency Response Function. This paper also demonstrates its effectiveness by applying the proposed method to finding the vibration criteria of a Computer Hard Disk Driver by Impact Test.

  • The circular cavity resonator which can measure the dielectric properties of dielectrics in the Ka-band(26.5GHz∼400Hz) frequency range was designed and fabricated. A structure of the resonator is divided into two equal parts of the length and the dielectric plate sample is placed between two halves. Exciting and detecting of the resonator is Performed by WR28 rectangular waveguides using Bethe's small hole coupling. The GaAs plate sample, whose performance is known to be 13 in millimeter wave range, was used for the verification of the performance of the fabricated circular cavity resonator In the measurement of GaAs single crystal using that resonator, the resonant frequency of the dominant TE$\sub$011/ mode, the permittivity and Q${\times}$f$\sub$0/ were measured as 26.69GHz, 12.9 and 124,000GHz, respectively.

  • The mechanical system of a drive can often be modeled as a two- or three-mass-system. The load is coupled to the driving motor by a shaft able to perform torsion oscillations. For the automatic tuning of the control, it is necessary to know the mathematical description of the system and the corresponding parameters. As the manpower and setup-time necessary during the commissioning of electrical drives are major cost factors, the development of self-operating identification strategies is a task worth pursuing. This paper presents an identification method which can be utilized for the assisted commissioning of electrical drives. The shaft assembly can be approximated as a two-mass non-rigid mechanical system with four parameters that have to be identified. The mathematical background for an identification procedure is developed and some important implementation issues are addressed. In order to avoid the excitation of the system with its natural resonance frequency, the frequency response can be obtained by exciting the system with a Pseudo Random Binary Signal (PRBS) and using the cross correlation function (CCF) and the auto correlation function (ACF). The reference torque is used as stimulation and the response is the mechanical speed. To determine the parameters, especially in advanced control schemes, a numerical algorithm with excellent convergence characteristics has also been used that can be implemented together with the proposed measurement procedure in order to assist the drive commissioning or to achieve an automatic setting of the control parameters. Simulations and experiments validate the efficiency and reliability of the identification procedure.

  • Recently to develop an automobile with better prosperities, many researches and investments have been executed. In this paper we intend to improve the automobile properties by reducing the weights of the engine without changing the dynamic characteristics. At first we perform the vibration analysis by the Substructure Synthesis Method and execute the exciting test for the engine model, and observe the coincidences of two results to confirm the reliability of the analyzing tools used. The weight minimization is performed by the Sensitivities of the Natural frequencies of the engine block. To decrease the engine weight ideally, the parts of the sensitivity zero are to be cut mainly, and the changing quantity of natural frequency by the cut is to be recovered by the structural modification for the parts with the good sensitivity. But, as actually the mathematical solution for the homogeneous problem(i.e. 0 object function) do not exist, we hereby redesign the block with much thinner thickness and recover the natural frequencies and natural modes to original structure's by the sensitivity analysis. And the Frequency Response Functions(FRF) are to be observed for the interesting points. In this analysis, the original thickness of the engine model has 8 mm of thickness, and the thickness redesigned is 5 mm and 6 mm. And we are to try to recover the 1, 2, 4, and 5 lower natural frequencies interested.

  • In recent years, Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) strengthening is found to be one of the best methods to strengthen steel structures. The fibrous bond can also influence the vibration characteristics of the strengthened element apart from its static strength enhancement property. The main objective of this study is to understand the influence of CFRP strengthening on the dynamic Behaviour of Thin-Webbed Castellated Beams (TWCBs). A detailed experimental investigation was carried out on five sets of beams with varying parameters such as domination of shear (Shear Dominant, Moment Dominant and Moment and Shear Dominant), sectional classification (Plastic and Semi-compact) and perforation geometries (ho/dwratio 0.65 and e/ho ratio 0.3). Free vibration analysis was carried out by exciting the simply supported TWCBs with an impact force generated by a ball dropped from a specific height. Logarithmic decrement method was used to obtain the damping ratio and natural frequencies of vibration were found by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Natural frequency showed an increase in a range of 10.5 - 55% for the different sets of castellated beams. An increase of 62.30% was noted in the damping ratio of TWCBs after strengthening which is an indication of improvement in the vibration characteristics of the beam.

  • As the vibration loads are variable and the design criteria are more strict, in this study, the dynamic characteristics of the slab is analyzed and the and the vibration is controlled for the special peculiarity of structures. First, the procedure of dynamic analysis is developed by the finite element method and then examined by using the slab model tests. Second, in order to improve the dynamic characteristics, the effects of the number of supports, material properties, position of exciting force, added mass and dynamic balance on the dynamic behavior of reinforced concrete slabs are analysed. It is concluded that the vibration can be controlled by the change in the natural frequency of system and the use of the high-strength concrete or polymer impregnated concrete (PIC), and the dynamic characteristics can be considerably affected by the arrangement of equipments, added mass, and dynamic balance, etc.

  • Based on the full layerwise displacement shell theory, vibration and damping characteristics of cylindrical sandwich panels are investigated. The transverse shear deformation and the normal strain are fully taken into account for structural damping modelling. Modal damping factors and frequency response functions are analyzed for various structural parameters of cylindrical sandwich beams. Present results shows that full layerwise theory can accurately predict vibration and damping characteristics of cylindrical composite panels with surface damping treatments and constrained layer damping. The viscoelastic materials depending on elevated temperature environment and exciting frequencies can be fully considered.

  • In this paper, some theoretical equations are derived to calculate natural frequencies and their modes of a portal type derrick system and developed a computer program to carry out their calculations. The ship's structures, such as funnels, upper decks, engine structures, shaft systems suffer local vibrations of the ship. The exciting forces of vibrations are induced by the bearing force and the surface force of propeller or by the main engine. For solving the vibration problem of riggings like the derrick system the natural frequency of its system must be exactly estimated as far as possible and its resonance condition must be kept out of the normal engine operating speed range. When some severe resonances are encountered after the ship's launching, it may be required a tremendous cost to amend their condition. An experimental model of the portal type derrick is made, which is composed of two posts and a truss. This experimental model is excited by an electrical-magnet, and its vibration responses are found out. The calculating results of the model by the developed computer program are compared with those of measured values of model experiment, and they show fairly good agreements.

  • In this paper, vibration modes and frequencies of a ring-type stacked piezoelectric actuator for a wire bonding transducer system are analyzed using FEM simulations. We implement experiments using a commercial product model of the actuator PZT module which consists of 6 layer ring-type PZT and 7 electrodes, combined bolts, nut and tinut. There are two main results: One is that FEM analysis should consider the effect the harmonic voltage input in order to meet the experimental results. The other is that the current wire bonder using exciting frequency of 136 kHz should be modified in order to improve the actuator and bonding performance because the actuator module has the main longitudinal mode of 145 kHz.
