The 77 K emission and excitation spectra, and 298 K infrared and absorption spectra of mer-[CrCl(en)(dpt)]ZnCl$_4$(en=1,2-diaminoethane; dpt=1,5,9-triazanonane) have been measured. Ligand field electronic transitions due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden are assigned. The zero-phonon line in the excitation spectrum splits into two components by 151$cm^{-1}$ /, and large$^2$E$^{g}$ splitting can be reproduced by the modern ligand field theory. It is confirmed that nitrogen atoms of the en and dpt ligands have a strong $\delta$-donor character, but chloride ligand has weak $\delta$-and $\pi$-donor properties toward chromium(III) ion.
Exposure of algae or plants to irradiance from above the light saturation point of photosynthesis is known as high light stress. This high light stress induces various responses including photoinhibition of the photosynthetic apparatus. The degree of photoinhibition could be clearly determined by measuring the parameters such as absorption and fluorescence of chromoproteins. In cyanobacteria and red algae, most of the photosystem (PS) II associated light harvesting is performed by a membrane attached complex called the phycobilisome (PBS). The effects of high intensity light (1000-4000 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$) on excitation energy transfer from PBSs to PS II in a cyanobacterium Spirulina platensis were studied by measuring room temperature PC fluorescence emission spectra. High light (3000 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$) stress had a significant effect on PC fluorescence emission spectra. On the other hand, light stress induced an increase in the ratio of PC fluorescence intensity of PBS indicating that light stress inhibits excitation energy transfer from PBS to PS II. The high light treatment to 3000 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ caused disappearance of 31.5 kDa linker polypeptide which is known to link PC discs together. In addition we observed the similar decrease in the other polypeptide contents. Our data concludes that the Spirulina cells upon light treatment causes alterations in the phycobiliproteins (PBPs) and affects the energy transfer process within the PBSs.
We investigate the disk-jet connection of Young Radio Galaxies (YRGs) by comparing emission-line properties with radio luminosity and jet size. By combining new optical spectra for 21 objects with SDSS archival data for 15 objects, we selected a sample of 36 low-redshift YRGs at z < 0.4. We find that YRGs are classified in high- and low-excitation galaxies based on the relative strength of high-to-low excitation line strengths, suggesting that there are two populations in YRGs as similarly found in large radio galaxies, i.e., FRIs and FRIIs. High-excitation galaxies (HEGs) have higher emission line luminosities than low-excitation galaxies (LEGs) at fixed black hole mass and radio luminosity, suggesting that the Eddington ratio is higher in HEGs than in LEGs and that for given radio activity HEGs have higher accretion activity than LEGs. The difference between HEGs and LEGs is probably due to either mass accretion rate or radiative efficiency.
The fluorescence spectroscopic properties of both trans and cis forms of 9-anthryiethylene derivatives such as 9-AnthCH=$CHCO_2CH_3$ [Ⅰ] and 9-AnthCH=CHCN [Ⅱ] as well as 9-AnthCH=>TEX>$CHCH_2O_2CCH_3$ [Ⅲ] and 9-AnthCH=$CHCH_2OH$ [Ⅳ] have been measured in various solvents. In nonpolar solvent, the trans-I and trans-Ⅱ show dual emission spectral bands at 340 nm and 460 nm when exciting with 270 nm while the other trans derivatives show single emission band at 430 or 460 nm. The dual emissions exhibit different excitation spectra, indicating that two emissive states are different from each other. It is interesting to note that the 340 nm emission of both trans-Ⅰ and trans-Ⅱ is enhanced at the expense of the drastic quenching of the 460 nm emission as the solvent polarity increases. The dual emissions are also observed for both cis-Ⅰ and cis-Ⅱ. The solvent dependence of the fluorescence decay times and quantum yields can be correlated with the solvent and excitation wavelength dependences of the trans→cis photoisomerization quantum yields. These results indicate that the 340 nm emission is originated from the $S_2$ state of the cis-form, and the $S_1$ state is the only singlet excited state presenting a large CT (charge transfer) character to facilitate the photoisomerization.
The effect of excitation energy and various dopants(Eu and Ce) on the emission wavelength and intensity were investigated. According to PL spectra, SrO-$Al_2O_3$ phosphors had wide absorption band at nUV. By substituting Ce for Eu, the emission band and excitation wavelength were shifted to shorter wavelength. Ce doped $SrAl_2O_4$ and $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}$ showed greenish blue(475nm) and blue(400nm), respectively.

The application of time-resolved laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy (TRLIF) to the complexation studies of Eu(III) and Cm(III) with humic substances is described. Using this method, three different spectroscopic characteristics(excitation spectra, emission spectra, and lifetimes) of these aquo ions and their complexes can be directly measured. By observing shifts in the wavelength and changes in the lifetime and intensities of the fluorescence emission, the information on the complexation behavior of humic substances with these trivalent metal cations in an aqueous solution, as well as energy transfer mechanisms, can be obtained. In addition, this method allows precise spectroscopic quantification of the complexation processes at very low concentrations of both components.
The dependence of photoluminescence (PL) and photoluminescence itation (PLE) on preparation condi-tions and the aging of porous silicon carbide (PSC) have been investigatted. The fiber size of the material pre-pared under dark-current mode, labele d DCM, was larger than that of the photoassisted (PA)process. The intensity of the PL spectrum for the PA condition was higher than that of the DCM condition. The PA condition giving small fiber size exhibited amore prominent high-energy component but the emission bands of both con-ditionsobserved were rather similar. The origin of the PL may have played an importantrole in the surface defect center introduced by the reaction conditions ofHFatthe surface of the silicon carbide. Selective excita-tion of the PL bandsusingdifferent excitation wavelengths has been used to identify distinct componentswith-in the PL bandwidth. Two main PL bands with peak wavelength of494 and534 nm were clearly resolved. On the other hand, selectivc emission of the PLEbands using different emission wavelengths has been used to identify distinct components within the PLE bandwidth. The higher energy band with peak wavelength of 338 nm and the lower energy bands involving 390,451 and 500 nm were clearly resolved. According to the pro-ionged aging in air, PL spectra appearedasone band, This emission probably originated from states localized to the band-to-band recombination due to the oxidation on the crystallite surface.
Cost-effective, robust devices for solid-state lighting industry that converts electricity to light revolutionize the current lighting industry. Phosphor materials used in these devices should be synthesized in a low-cost and effective method for use in WLEDs. In this presentation, the synthesis of Eu3+ ions doped BaMoO4 phosphor samples by a facile synthesis process for red component of WLEDs will be shown. The tetragonal phase of the host lattice was substantiated by the X-ray diffraction patterns. The morphological studies were carried out by using a field-emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. These confirmed the formation of a shuttle like particles with perpendicular protrusions in the middle of the particle. The photoluminescence (PL) properties exhibited good emission with a high asymmetry ratio when excited with ultraviolet B wavelengths (~ 280-315 nm). The cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra showed similar results to the PL spectra, indicating the rich red emission. The results suggest that this phosphor is a good material as red region component in the development of tri-band UV excitation based WLEDs.
Red phosphors $Ca_{1-1.5x}WO_4:{Eu_x}^{3+}$ were synthesized with different concentrations of $Eu^{3+}$ ions by using a solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure of the red phosphors was found to be a tetragonal system. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed the (112) main diffraction peak centered at $2{\theta}=28.71^{\circ}$, and the size of crystalline particles exhibited an overall decreasing tendency according to the concentration of $Eu^{3+}$ ions. The excitation spectra of all the phosphors were composed of a broad band centered at 275 nm in the range of 230-310 nm due to $O^{2-}{\rightarrow}W^{6+}$ and a narrow band having a peak at 307 nm caused by $O^{2-}{\rightarrow}Eu^{3+}$. Also, the excitation spectrum presents several strong lines in the range of 305-420 nm, which are assigned to the 4f-4f transitions of the $Eu^{3+}$ ion. In the case of the emission spectrum, all the phosphor powders, irrespective of $Eu^{3+}$ ion concentration, indicated an orange emission peak at 594 nm and a strong red emission spectrum centered at 615 nm, with two weak lines at 648 and 700 nm. The highest red emission intensity occurred at x = 0.10 mol of Eu3+ ion concentration with an asymmetry ratio of 12.5. Especially, the presence of $Eu^{3+}$ in the $Ca_{1-1.5x}WO_4:{Eu_x}^{3+}$ shows very effective use of excitation energy in the range of 305-420 nm, and finally yields a strong emission of red light.
