  • We hypothesize work jealousy can moderate the relationship between leader-member exchange (LMX) and two different work behaviors, counterproductive work behavior(CWB) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The results supported our hypotheses and found an interaction between LMX and work jealousy such that the relationship between LMX and CWB is negative when jealousy is higher but not when jealousy is lower. We did not find an interaction between LMX and work jealousy on OCB, however. We test our hypotheses in a service organizational sample consisting of one hundred thirty-nine. Managerial implications and directors for future research are discussed.

  • We present the structural, magnetic, and electrical properties in the (Al,Mn)N films with various Mn concentrations grown by plasma-enhanced molecular beam epitaxy. X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that the (Al,Mn)N films have the wurtzite structure without secondary phases. All (Al,Mn)N films showed the ferromagnetic ordering. Particularly, ($Al_{1-x}Mn_{x}$)N film with x = 0.028 exhibited the highest magnetic moment per Mn atom at room temperature. Since all the films exhibit the insulating characteristics, the origin of ferromagnetism in (Al,Mn)N might be attributed to either indirect exchange interaction caused by virtual electron excitations from Mn acceptor level to the valence band within the samples or a percolation of bound magnetic polarons arisen from exchange interaction of localized carriers with magnetic impurities in a low carrier density regime.

  • The dc resistivity dc magnetization and thermopower of layered perovskite La1.6Ca1.4Mn2O7.07 have been studied. The ceramic sample of La1.6Ca1.4Mn2O7.07 undergoes the metal-insulator transition at 120K while a first-order phase transition from a ferromagnetic phase to a paramagnetic phae is observed at 260 K=TC This behavior is quite different from that of the well-known double exchange ferromagnets such as La1-xCaxMnO3 This phenomenon could be understood by considering the effects of the anisotropic double exchange interaction caused by two dimensional Mn-O-Mn networks in this materials. The dc magnetization between 120K and 250K is nearly constant and decreases rapidly with increasing temperature above 250K The measurements of dc resistivity and thermopower indicate that Zener polaron hopping conduction takes place above 260 K.

  • The nature of F electronic excitation energy transfer to OH- vibrational levels in KCl crystals is the exchange interaction, although the transfer process exhibits three temporally distinguishable components depending on the distance between excited F center and OH-. The critical distance as well as rate of the major energy transfer process in randomly distributed samples increases rapidly as OH- librational motions become active with temperature rise. The excited state character introduced into the OH- ground electronic state by perturbation is essential for the exchange interaction. The perturbation is brought about by the expanded electron cloud of excited F center for OH- associated to F center, whereas by librations and lattice vibrations perpendicular to the bond axis for isolated OH- . F excitation quenching efficiency by OH- is dependent on the variation of the critical distance rather than the rate as the rate is much faster than the normal F bleach recovery rate.

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to explore nurse-patient interaction behaviors and patient satisfaction with the interaction in the emergency department. Method: This study used video technology to record complete conversations between the nurse and patient, thus obtaining the interactions naturally occurring in a clinical setting. The participants were 28 nurses and 63 patients in the emergency department at one university hospital located in Seoul. The data was collected from November, 2002 to April, 2003. The video recordings were observed for 4 hours for each case and coded using an adapted version of Roter's Interaction Analysis System (RIAS), which yields frequencies of thirty-six types of interaction behaviors. Result: The information exchange related to therapeutic items including medications, simple orientation, and situational positive talk were characterized in the nurses' interaction behaviors. Giving information about one's own condition, questions about therapeutic regimen, and showing worry were characterized in patient interaction behaviors. The patients' satisfaction with the interaction was 37.75.9 (range 9-45). Conclusion: The emergency nurse-patient interaction behavior was task-related. The results suggest that identification of effective interaction behavior in the Emergency department and an interaction skill training program could increase patient satisfaction.

  • Knowledge sharing has many benefits; however, employees are generally reluctant to share their knowledge with co-workers. This reluctance can be attributed to the facts that sharing knowledge involves the threat of losing personal competitiveness and the codification of knowledge for sharing requires additional effort. This study explains why employees engage in knowledge sharing despite the threat and cost of sharing knowledge. Specifically, it examines the effects of the quality of co-worker exchange (CWX) on knowledge sharing and the moderating effect of learning goal orientation on the relationship between CWX and knowledge sharing. Data from 186 individuals indicate that there is a positive relationship between CWX and knowledge sharing, and that this relationship is strengthened when learning goal orientation is low rather than when it is high. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are also discussed.

  • The vibration-vibration energy exchange of $N_2(v=1)+O_2(v=0){\to}N_2(v=0)+O_2(v=1)$ has been investigated, in particular, at low temperatures. The energy exchange rate constants are calculated by use of the solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation with the interaction potential of the colliding molecule as a perturbation term. The predicted rate constants are significantly agree with a experimental values in the range of 295∼$90^{\circ}K$. The consideration of the VV-VT coupling decreases the predicted pure VV energy exchange value by a factor of ∼2. When the collision frequency correction is introduced, the VV-VT rate constant is consistent with the observed value in the liquid phase. The consideration of the population of the rotational energy level increases the VV-VT value significantly.

  • The electromagnetic properties of heavy fermion $CePd_2Si_2$ are investigated using density functional theory using the local density approximation (LDA) and LDA+U methods. The Ce f-bands are located near the Fermi energy and hybridized with the Pd-3d states. This hybridization plays an important role in generating the physical characteristics of this compound. The magnetic moment of $CePd_2Si_2$ calculated within the LDA scheme does not match with the experimental result because of the strong correlation interaction between the f orbitals. The calculation shows that the specific heat coefficient underestimates the experimental value by a factor of 5.98. This discrepancy is attributed to the formation of quasiparticles. The exchange interaction between the local f electrons and the conduction d electrons is the reason for the formation of quasiparticles. The exchange interaction is significant in $CePd_2Si_2$, which makes the quasiparticle mass increase. This enhances the specific heat coefficient.
