The catalytic enantioselective Michael reaction promoted by quaternary ammonium salts from Cinchona alkaloids as a phase-transfer catalyst is described. Treatment of malonates with $\alpha$,$\beta$-unsaturated ketones under mild reaction conditions afforded the corresponding Michael adducts in good yields with good to moderate enantiomeric excesses.

The astrophysical parameters of four unstudied open star cluster candidates; Ivanov 2, 7, 9, and Harvard 9; are estimated for the first time using the PPMXL database. The stellar density distributions and color-magnitude diagrams for each cluster are used to determine the geometrical structure (cluster center, limited radius, core and tidal radii, the distances from the Sun, from the Galactic center and from the Galactic plane). Also, the main photometric parameters (age, distance modulus, color excesses, membership, total mass, relaxation time, luminosity and mass functions) are estimated.

Recently, according as the supply of power steering system has been diffused, for the comfortable driving condition, the problem to reduce the noise and vibration of this system suddenly appeared. This system can be classified two systems of the pipe line and the pump. In this paper, it is described about the noise characteristic with the camring profile of the hydraulic vane pump. As a result, when it excesses tolerance, the noise is increased. Moreover, in the case of the same of cam-ring, the effect of the rotating speed is larger than the discharge pressure.

The enantioselective ${\alpha}$-chlorination of cyclic ${\beta}$-ketoesters catalyzed by chiral 2-aminoalcohol derivatives (2f) has been developed. For the optically active ${\alpha}$-chlorinated products, the isolated yields are in the range of 85-94% and the enantiomeric excesses are up to 84% ee.

The catalytic enantioselective electrophilic fluorinations of active methane compounds promoted chiral palladium complexes have been developed. Treatment of α-cyano acetates and α-cyanoalkylphosphonates with N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide as the fluorine source under mild reaction conditions afforded the corresponding α-cyano-α-fluorinated adducts in high yields with excellent enantiomeric excesses (up to 99% ee). These reactions can be conducted in alcoholic solvents without any precaution to exclude water and moisture.

Conclusions for the relationship between a conceptional model of stress theory and its examination based on the Oriental medicine; 1. It was considered that a general conception of stress is included into the meaning of Ki in the Oriental medicine. 2. The response-based model to stress could be comparable to a conception of Ki-pathogens interchange In the Onental medicine. 3. The stimulus-based model may be explained as a modern conception of immoderation feeling related with an internal etiological factor, specially injury of seven emotions, among three groups of etiological factors for disease. 4. The feedback conception based on the interaction model could explain the principal of reversible emotion therapy in the nine Ki. 5. In the Oriental medicine, a study to clarify a emotional etiologic factor and its pathophysiologlcal mechanism has been continued for long time before establishment of stress theory.

In order to determine color excess in the $uvby\beta$ color system for high amplitude $\delta$ Scuti stars, reddening free $[m_1]$, $[c_1]$, and $\beta$ indices data were obtained from the existing literature for 21 stars. Then, the three intrinsic relations of $(b-y)_0$ - $[m_1]$, $(b-y)_0$ - $[c_1]$, and $(b-y)_0$ - $\beta$ were investigated. Among these, it was shown that the $(b-y)_0$-$[c_1]$ relation is the most useful. By establishing intrinsic $(b-y)_0$-$[c_1]$ relations for six reddening calibration stars, color excesses of other stars were determined.

Pulsations, vibration and stress are the basic dynamic phenomena in power plant piping systems which directly affect system reliability. These phenomena are both acoustical and mechanical in nature and are closely interrelated. It was noticed that thermodynamic parameters were changed after replacing with new type tube bundles of reheat exchanger. It was reported later that the drain piping connecting the new bundle header with the associated drain tank is regularly pulsating at about every 3 second with 13.4㎐ and 7.5mm, p-p in amplitude. This amplitude is about 6 times higher than reference level of sound piping. The results of finite element analysis of the pipeline showed that its dominant natural frequency is 13.4㎐. The soundness is predicted whether the bending dynamic stress evaluated excesses the maximum allowable high cycle fatigue stress or not by the measured amplitude of vibration.

The mating systems of two groups of natural populations of Gleditsia japonica var. koraiensis in Korea were determined using allozyme analysis. The result suggests that G. japonica var. koraiensis is predominantly outcrossing. The tm values of eight populations in Korea varied from 0.667 (Mdh-1) to 0.938 (ldh-1), giving an average 0.820. Population and individual outcrossing estimates were associated with flowering tree density or degree of spatial isolation. The reason for relatively low outcrossing rates of some populations could be attributed to reduction of effective population sizes of sib for the medicine, small population size, and isolation of flowering mature trees. The heterozygote excesses were observed in some natural populations, whereas other populations exhibited varying degrees of inbreeding and heterozygotes deficit. Thus, selection against homozygotes operated in the progeny populations throughout the life cycle.

We present an optical UBVRI photometric analysis of the poorly studied open star cluster IC 2156 using Sloan Digital Sky Survey data in order to estimate its astrophysical properties. We compare these with results from our previous studies that relied on the 2MASS JHK near-infrared photometry. The stellar density distributions and color-magnitude diagrams of the cluster are used to determine its geometrical structure, real radius, core and tidal radii, and its distance from the Sun, the Galactic plane, and the Galactic center. We also estimate, the age, color excesses, reddening-free distance modulus, membership, total mass, luminosity function, mass function, and relaxation time of the cluster.
