  • BPMS(business process management system) facilitates defining new processes or updating existing processes. However, processing of exceptional or nonroutine task requires the intervention of domain experts or introduction of the situation specific resolution process. This paper assumes sufficient amount of business process exception handling cases are stored in the process repository. Since the retrieval of the best exception handling process requires a good understanding about the exceptional situation, context awareness is an important issue. To facilitate the understanding of exceptional situation and to enable the efficient selection of the best exception handling process, we adopted the 'situation variable' and 'decision variable' construct. A case example for exception handling in the e-commerce delivery process is provided to illustrate how the proposed construct works. Application of the C5.0 algorithm guarantees the construction of an optimum search tree. It also implies that an efficient search path has been identified for the context aware selection of the best exception handling process.

  • Some context is characterized by a single event in computing environment, but many other contexts are determined by a lot of things which occur with a space and a time. The Realtime Embedded System context-awareness service that interacts with the physical space can have property such as time. The exceptional behaviors of the system that interact with physical space can result in critical damage and cause danger to the operation of an embedded system. we propose an approach which should include spatio-temporal property and exceptional management in the context model, and verify its effectiveness using an expanded Petri-Net. The context-awareness service modeling of an embedded system is discussed the properties of model such as basic Petri-Net, patterned Petri-Net, or Spatio-temporal Petri-Net for the exceptional behaviors of the system. The proposed methodology demonstrated using an example that is emergency medical service. The use of expanded Petri-Net will contribute not only to develop the application but also to model the spatio-temporal context awareness for the exceptional handling.

  • In an organization where major business operations are geared by business process management system(BPMS), routine tasks are processed according to the predefined business processes. However, most business operations are subject to some sort of exceptions, and the exceptional situations require update of the existing business process model, or a new business process model has to be defined to handle the exceptions. This paper proposes a system architecture that deploys business process repository as the media for storage and retrieval of the various business process models developed for exception handling. Well defined situation variables and decision variables play the key role for efficient storage and retrieval of the business process models developed for exception handling. The data mining technique C5.0 was used to build the optimum path for the process repository search tree.

  • Safety of hydrogen handling facilities is needed as supply of hydrogen cars has been expanded recently. In this study, the adequacy of safety regulations of hydrogen handling facilities and the risk of damage with hydrogen leakage were studied. The range of explosion hazard location of the hydrogen filling plant was investigated using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, Explosive hazardous area is influenced by leakage type, hole size and sectional area. When the conditions of KS standard are applied, range explosive hazardous area is expanded 7.05 m, maximum. It is about 7 times larger than exceptional standard of hydrogen station. Meanwhile, distance from leakage point to 25% LEL of hydrogen is investigated 1.6 m. Considering the shape of charging hose, regulation of hydrogen station is appropriate.

  • The Python language widely used in artificial intelligence (AI) projects is an interpreter language, and errors occur at runtime. In order to prevent project failure due to errors, it is necessary to handle exceptions in code that can cause exceptional situations in advance. In particular, in AI projects that require a lot of resources, exceptions that occur after long execution lead to a large waste of resources. However, since exception handling depends on the developer's experience, developers have difficulty determining the appropriate exception to catch. To solve this need, we propose an approach that recommends exceptions to catch to developers during development by learning the existing exception handling statements. The proposed method receives the source code of the try block as input and recommends exceptions to be handled in the except block. We evaluate our approach for a large project consisting of two frameworks. According to our evaluation results, the average AUPRC is 0.92 or higher when performing exception recommendation. The study results show that the proposed method can support the developer's exception handling with exception recommendation performance that outperforms the comparative models.

  • This paper introduces a novel neuro-fuzzy system based on the polynomial fuzzy neural network(PFNN) architecture. The PFNN consists of a set of if-then rules with appropriate membership functions whose parameters are optimized via a hybrid genetic algorithm. A polynomial neural network is employed in the defuzzification scheme to improve output performance and to select appropriate rules. A performance criterion for model selection, based on the Group Method of DAta Handling is defined to overcome the overfitting problem in the modeling procedure. The hybrid genetic optimization method, which combines a genetic algorithm and the Simplex method, is developed to increase performance even if the length of a chromosome is reduced. A novel coding scheme is presented to describe fuzzy systems for a dynamic search rang in th GA. For a performance assessment of the PFNN inference system, three well-known problems are used for comparison with other methods. The results of these comparisons show that the PFNN inference system outperforms the other methods while it exhibits exceptional robustness characteristics.

  • In these days many people have studied on the berthing problem. The operation rules differ from port so port and the problem is highly dependent on the environment of port. The purpose of this study is to develop a decision support system decision makers of the berthing problem for Inchon Port. The system is developed with graphic user interface(GUI) using user-interactive approach and some general and specific rules for Inchon Prot are considered. The system is composed of the following four parts ; the input/output part, the automatic berthing part by the system using rules, the manual berthing part by user, and the part for modifying results or handling exceptional events. The system is designed to assign ship to berths by matching the characteristics with environmental and operational constraints of Inchon Port. We expect that this system can provide decision makers with an efficient and fast way to berthing and can reduce wastes of time, space, and manpower in port operations.

  • The Suspension Trapping (S-Trap) method has been a prominent sample preparation technique since its introduction in 2014. Its capacity to induce protein aggregation using organic solvents has significantly improved protein purification and facilitated peptide identification. However, its full potential for automation has been limited by the lack of a suitable liquid handling system until recently. In this study, we aimed to enhance the automation of S-Trap sample preparation by optimizing the S-Trap digestion process, incorporating triethylammonium bicarbonate (TEAB) and CaCl2. The utilization of TEAB buffer conditions in this innovative process led to a noteworthy 12% improvement in protein identification. Additionally, through careful observation of various incubation conditions, we streamlined the entire sample preparation workflow into a concise 4 hours timeline, covering reduction, alkylation, and trypsin incubation stages. This refined and expedited automated S-Trap digestion process not only showcased exceptional time efficiency but also improved trypsin digestion, resulting in increased protein identification.

  • Energy industry facilities can cause fatal damage for internal industry employee as well as external general people because handling various kinds of gas and harmful substance might be spread to large scale severe accident by fire, explosion, and toxic gas leakage. In order to prevent these accidents, quantification by damage effect on structure and human is tried by using quantitative risk assessment, but it is difficult to process instantly exceptional cases and requires knowledge of expert. This paper aims to minimize exceptional cases and knowledge of expert, and present risk with human perceptible. So, we designed and developed zone-base risk analysis system that can compute risk of zone in real time at that point using database and incremental model.

  • ML's exception handling makes it possible to describe exceptional execution flows conveniently. Sometimes, current implementation of exception handling introduces unnecessary overhead. Our goal is to reduce this overhead by source-level transformation. To this end, we transform source programs into variant of continuation-passing style(CPS), replacing handle and raise expressions by continuation-catching and throwing expressions, respectively. CPS-transforming every expression, however, introduces a new cost. We therefore use an exception analysis to transform expressions selectively: if an expression is statically determined to involve exceptions then it is CPS-transformed; otherwise, it is left in direct style. In this article, we formalize this selective CPS transformation, prove its correctness, and present possible improvement for our transformation.
