  • Recognizing spatial information associated with events expressed in natural language text is essential not only for the interpretation of such events and but also for the understanding of the relations among them. However, spatial information is rarely mentioned as compared to events and the association between event and spatial expressions is also highly implicit in a text. This would make it difficult to automate the extraction of spatial information associated with events from the text. In this paper, we give a linguistic analysis of how spatial expressions are associated with event expressions in a text. We first present issues in annotating narrative texts with reference relations between event and spatial expressions, and then discuss surface-level linguistic characteristics of such relations based on the annotated corpus to give a helpful insight into developing an automated recognition method.

  • Distribution of malicious applications developed by attackers is increasing along with general normal applications due to the openness of the Android-based open market. Mechanism that allows more accurate ways to distinguish normal apps and malicious apps for common mobile devices should be developed in order to reduce the damage caused by the rampant malicious applications. This paper analysed the normal event pattern from the most highly used game apps in the Android open market to analyse the event pattern from normal apps and malicious apps of mobile devices that are based on the Android platform, and analysed the malicious event pattern from the malicious apps and the disguising malicious apps in the form of a game app among 1260 malware samples distributed by Android MalGenome Project. As described, experiment that extracts normal app and malicious app events was performed using Strace, the Linux-based system call extraction tool, targeting normal apps and malicious apps on Android-based mobile devices. Relevance analysis for each event set was performed on collected events that occurred when normal apps and malicious apps were running. This paper successfully extracted event similarity through this process of analyzing the event occurrence characteristics, pattern and distribution on each set of normal apps and malicious apps, and lastly suggested a mechanism that determines whether any given app is malicious.

But the risk management from planning phase well does not become accomplished is the actual condition from existing construction project. Consequently, it classifies the risk event from project initial planning phase of construction project from this study which probably is substantial risk event the possibility of accomplishing from a planning phase successfully in order to be.

  • The agents for security surveillance are not enough for monitoring CCTV system, so the intelligent automatic surveillance system is needed. In this paper, object detection, tracking and abnormal event detection system is implemented for intelligent CCTV system. Each modules are tested on the real CCTV environment and promoted for commercialization. Abnormal event detection module and loitering detection and sudden running detection function and it's detection time is under 1 second which is satisfied level.

  • High performance sensors and modern data logging technology with real-time telemetry facilitate system fault diagnosis in a very precise manner. Fault detection, isolation and identification in fault diagnosis systems are typical steps to analyze the root cause of failures. This systematic failure analysis provides not only useful clues to rectify the abnormal behaviors of a system, but also key information to redesign the current system for retrofit. The main barriers to effective failure analysis are: (i) the gathered data (event) logs are too large in general, and further (ii) they usually contain noise and redundant data that make precise analysis difficult. This paper therefore applies suitable pre-processing techniques to data reduction and feature extraction, and then converts the reduced data log into a new format of event sequence information. Finally the event sequence information is decoded to investigate the correlation between specific event patterns and various system faults. The efficiency of the developed pre-filtering procedure is examined with a terminal box data log of a marine diesel engine.

  • Mitotic event recognition is a crucial and challenging task in biomedical applications. In this paper, we introduce the slow feature analysis and propose a fully-automated mitotic event recognition method for cell populations imaged with time-lapse phase contrast microscopy. The method includes three steps. First, a candidate sequence extraction method is utilized to exclude most of the sequences not containing mitosis. Next, slow feature is learned from the candidate sequences using slow feature analysis. Finally, a hidden conditional random field (HCRF) model is applied for the classification of the sequences. We use a supervised SFA learning strategy to learn the slow feature function because the strategy brings image content and discriminative information together to get a better encoding. Besides, the HCRF model is more suitable to describe the temporal structure of image sequences than nonsequential SVM approaches. In our experiment, the proposed recognition method achieved 0.93 area under curve (AUC) and 91% accuracy on a very challenging phase contrast microscopy dataset named C2C12.

  • Generally, the simulator for mobile device tests automatically an application software after instilling again the event, which is saved in log file according to an event generation sequence, into the application software of device. But, the simulator performance for mobile device can be different according to a extraction layer even if the events are same. And, the sequence of events extracted from an application is changeable in the environment that multiple applications are operated concurrently. Therefore, even though the same applications is executed to the same sequence, the generation sequence of events is revised in accordance with the state of mobile device system, and whether the errors occur according to circumstances or not. This kind of application software error is very difficult to perform a debugging operation. In this paper, the execution state of various applications is verifiable through the re-editing of events after analyzing the events which is generated in application, kernel, middleware layer, and the event arrange/editor is designed and implemented to understand efficiently the influence on application, kernel, and middleware layer for events.

  • Moyamoya disease is a rare neurovascular disorder that involves constriction of certain arteries in the brain. In patients with moyamoya disease, it is very important to prevent cerebral ischemic attacks and intracerebral bleeding caused by fluctuating blood pressure and increased respiration. A 40-year-old woman with moyamoya disease was scheduled for extraction of her right upper and lower impacted wisdom teeth. Her lower impacted wisdom tooth was situated close to the inferior alveolar nerve. We decided to continue her oral antiplatelet therapy and planned intravenous sedation with analgesic agents administered approximately five minutes prior to extraction of the root of the mandibular wisdom tooth. Oral analgesic medications were regularly administered postoperatively to alleviate pain and anxiety. During the perioperative period, no cerebrovascular event occurred, and the wisdom teeth were successfully extracted as per the planned procedure. It is thought that the perioperative risks of wisdom tooth extraction in patients with moyamoya disease can be minimized with the use of our protocols.

  • Smoke extraction in tunnel fire is investigated experimently with thermal model. The object is a immersed tunnel, of which the partial extraction system exists between the tubes. The model tunnel is measured 12 m long, 0.5 m wide and 0.35 m high. The fire is simulated to pool fire and the size corresponds to full scale fire of 5 MW based on Froude modeling. The performance of partial extraction system is determined under two ventilations, natural and longitudinal ones. The results show that compared with longitudinal ventilation, the smoke extraction efficiency of natural ventilation is increased about 30% because of smoke stratification in tunnel. Also the efficiency is identical to the iso-thermal model. The results will be help for activation of the ventilation system in emergency such as in the event of tunnel fires.
