Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the change in the position of the mandibular condyle within articular fossa by a CBCT after wearing complete denture (CD). Materials and Methods: CBCT of 34 temporomandibular joints were taken from 9 male and 8 female patients with CB $Mercuray^{TM}$ (Hitachi, Japan) before and after wearing a CD for rehabilitation. Position of mandibular condyle within articular fossa at centric occlusion was evaluated with $Vimplant2.0^{TM}$ (CyberMed, Korea) on the central parasagittal view and curved panoramic coronal view of the condylar head. A statistical evaluation was done with SPSS. Results: The range of anteroposterior positional rate (AP) of condylar head within articular fossa was -16-5 and -10-12 respectively on the right and left sides. Before wearing CD, the AP rate showed discrepancy between right and left sides (p<0.05). After wearing CD, both condyles showed a tendency to decrease in posterior condylar position (right side; p<0.05). The average discrepancy between right and left side in mediolateral positional rate (MD) was 15.5 and 4.5 respectively before and after wearing CD. The improvement was observed in mediolateral relationship of both condylar heads after wearing CD (p< 0.01). Before wearing CD, the average horizontal angle of long axis of condylar head was $79.6{\pm}2.7^{\circ}\;and\;80.1{\pm}5.7^{\circ}$ respectively on the right and left sides. After wearing CD, both condyles were rotated in the same direction in average on axial plane. Conclusion: We observed with CBCT the significant clinical evidence in case of positional change of mandibular condyle after wearing complete denture.
This study compared the thermal comfort of indoor clothing from Tencel material that is getting higher in demand due to being eco-friendly with superior wettability, with that from Polyester material that despite being most widely used for indoor clothing, rapidly discharges body sweat due to low wettability. The experiments were performed in the two manners, objective evaluation under the conditions of an artificial climate chamber and subjective evaluation of wearing the given clothes at home followed by filling in the questionnaire. Subjects were 8 healthy elderly women in their 60's who spend majority of their time at home rather than in social activities, and comparison was made on skin temperature and humidity inside clothing at exercise and relaxation states under early summer environment. Based on these results, wearing Tencel material clothing maintained cooler temperatures under warm environment rather than when wearing Polyester material clothing, thus enabling activities under more comfortable state. Regarding humidity inside clothing, parts with twofold clothing did not show difference between Tencel and Polyester, but the onefold arm showed lower when wearing Tencel. With this results, Tencel is regarded as more comfortable and nicer than Polyester.
Physiological responses and subjective sensations were evaluated for wearing protective welding clothing in consideration of the work environment for the shipbuilding industry. Experimental clothing was made of oxidant carbon nonwoven fabric (SW2) and oxidant carbon/p-aramid blended fabric (SW4). The values of all items in physiological responses were higher upon wearing oxidant carbon experimental clothing versus wearing oxidant carbon/p-aramid experimental clothing (p<.001). The results of the wearing evaluation in the welding work on-site showed that existing leather protective clothing had a very low satisfaction of permeability, weight sensation and wearing sensation. For the wearing sensation of experimental clothing with SW2, permeability and durability were poor and the pressure and weight sensation satisfaction was very high. In case of SW4, the satisfaction was very high in functional movement, pressure, weight sensation and management aspects; subsequently, the overall wearing satisfaction was very good.
This study verified the effect of summer flight ventilation developed in a previous study based on wearing comfort evaluation. Seven healthy males in their twenties volunteered for this experiment conducted in aclimatic chamber. The experiment consisted of three consecutive periods of rest (20 minutes), running on a treadmill (10 minutes) and recovery (20 minutes). A comparative evaluation was conducted on the general flight suit which had no ventilation holes and summer flight suit that use subjective satisfaction measures and objective measures. The subjective satisfaction was evaluated according to the criteria of temperature sensation, wet sensation, thermal comfort and fatigue sensation. The objective satisfaction was measured by skin temperature, microclimate (temperature and humidity), sweat rate and thermography. The comparative wearing evaluation identified the summer flight suit decreased the temperature between skin and suit by $0.42^{\circ}C$ (upper arm), $0.9^{\circ}C$ (calf) and the skin temperature by $0.3^{\circ}C$ (shoulder), $0.4^{\circ}C$ (upper arm), $0.5^{\circ}C$ (calf) as compared to the general flight suit. The humidity inside the summer flight suit decreased at head (7.73%), shoulder (5.86%), upper arm (5.26%), and calf (8.73%) compared to the one inside the general flight suit. Thermography showed that the air flowed through ventilation holes (neck and armpit). The design of ventilation holes applied to the summer flight suit can be applicable to overall clothing that requires thermal comfort such as dust-free garments, mechanical clothing and combat uniforms.
The study planned to testify the accuracy of the 3D scanner through analyzing the human body measurement method and the evaluation of flare skirt with 3D scanner. The results obtained from this study were as follows; First, the results of measurement for the dress form and human body by 3D scanner were more accurate than one or two dimensional measurement method. Second, from the results of the scan for the flare skirts as worn the human body, we could obtain very accurate horizontal section map. Third, in the clothing ergonomics viewpoint, the accuracy of the 3D scanner was very excellent and its utility was higher than that of the moir photography method. Therefore, the 3D scanner is very useful for the human body measurement and the wearing evaluation. In a nutshell, this study illustrates that we have to develop a program of automatic human body measurement system which will enhance the application of the 3D scanner.
This study evaluates the fitness of brassieres through size measurement, comparative pattern analysis, cross section map analysis, 3-D shape analysis number, and fitness evaluation with a focus on domestic and overseas brands. Experimental brassieres were selected as mold brassieres of 3/4 cup in 75A size that is considered a popular design. Brands of selected brassiere were 2 domestic brands (A, B), 1 licensed brand (C), and 2 overseas brands (D, E). Subjects were 8 women in their early 20's. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, reliability analysis, and factor analysis. The results were as follows; the size and pattern of brassieres showed a difference by each brand even though brassieres are the same design. In the wearing effect of brassieres, overseas brand brassieres played a major role in the breast-up effect, but they were not appropriate for the somatotype of Korean women. Domestic brand brassieres showed the volume-up effect, that was confirmed by the increasing bust circumference, bust depth when subjects wore it. In addition, the licensed brand brassieres showed the correction effect of body shape. Therefore, when purchasing a brassiere, the most important condition is to consider the individual characteristics of the somatotype. The results of factor analysis through a functional evaluation show that wearing satisfaction, size satisfaction, and the position of the bust point were important factors for fitness satisfaction and purchase.
This study was designed from the concept that there is a need to establish the uniform for new emerging jobs in modern society. The purpose of the study was to examine dental hygienists'wearing condition, satisfaction, and design evaluation as to provide information for the development of dental hygienists' uniform. Three hundred fifteen dental hygienists completed questionnaires, and data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, multiple regression, ANOVA, and Duncan's test. The findings from the study were following. First, majority of dental hygienists currently wear shirts and pants two-piece uniform in white with no print. Second, dental hygienists' overall satisfaction level for their uniform was medium, and symbolic satisfaction as well as functional satisfaction did not reach the medium level while aesthetic satisfaction was above medium. The satisfaction levels were significant different between groups according to the education, clinic size, and work experience. Third, aesthetic satisfaction levels influenced on the job image as professional. Finally, designs consisting of two-piece style with shirts and pants and having Peter pan collar were recorded high evaluation. The findings can be implemented into dental hygienists' uniform design.
The purposes of the study were to present the optimum slacks pattern for elementary school girls and to compare and evaluate wearing ease of the slacks. 3D scans using the Cyberware PS motion platform were carried out for 3 subjects who have different body type. The automatic drafting method was programmed by AutoLISP in CAD. Wearing tests using 3D Scanner was done for evaluation of fitness of slacks. Regression analysis, analysis of variance and post-hoc test were performed for statistical analysis of the data by SPSS program. The procedure and results were as follows: The slacks construction components for pattern drafting were derived from 10 horizontal section maps obtained from 3D scans. The automatic drafting was based on the measurements of slacks construction components and the curve of crotch line. The crotch line was drafted using of the arc function in AutoCAD. The total crotch length was calculated using the multiple regression equation. Wearing test represented that the slacks pattern developed to accomodate individual body measurements was estimated more highly than existing patterns.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the combination of tailored suit details through visual evaluation which helps compensating middle aged women's body defects for their more attractive fashion styles. The data evaluated by a multiple ranking test were analyzed using mean, paired t-test, general linear measure and Duncan's multiple raged test. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The middle aged woman wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket and slacks looks longer(p〈0.001) in lower part of her body and taller(P〈0.01) as a whole than when wearing others. And, opened jacket makes a middle aged woman be seen with less appeared abdomen(p〈0.01) than that wearing others. 2) The middle aged woman wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket and skirt looks more elegant(p〈0.001), more graceful(p〈0.001), and a bit more balanced(p〈0.05) than that wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket and slacks suits. According to situation(TPO). the middle aged women wearing the opened flap pocket-jacket, and slacks or skirt looks more effective the visual effect in combination of details on Tailored suits. The ratio of small-breasted women occupies over 20% among Korean women in their twenties. However, the commercial brassieres for the small-breasted women were not fitted well to their breast shapes. In this research, the various commercial mold brasseries for small-breasted women were evaluated through the wearing test and the analysis of 3D images which were scanned from their torsos wearing the brassieres. In addition, professional panels performed the appearance evaluation based on the 2D front and side images captured from 3D images taken by 3D measurement systems. As the results, we found that small-breasted women preferred a 3/4 cup brassiere, of which volume is concentrated in the lower cup. The most preferred brassiere in wearing state shows that the characteristic angle between the chest and the upper cup is about 167 degrees, which is smaller than those of another brassieres, and that the ratio of the radius of curvature of the nipple part to that of the lower cup was about 0.78. These results provide important implications regarding the design of mold brassieres for small-breasted women in spite of the fact that these results represent the selected set of commercial brassieres. Therefore, further studies are highly demanded for the most suitable design information of mold cup for small-breasted women.
