  • The volume of B2C products rapidly increases according to the activation of the electronic commerce. Small and medium electronic commerce companies request the establishment of Parcel Warehouse &Distribution Center(PWDC) that is invested by the post office. This paper presents an economic evaluation method for PWDC from the perspectives fo PWDC and the post office. Two types of warehouses are considered as alternatives for PWDC. One is the conventional warehouse, and the other is the automamic warehouse that is characterized by AS/RS and automatic dispenser system. A benefit/cost analysis method is used to evaluate PWDC since it has the property of public enterprise. A PWDC which will be located in Seoul and adjacent to a concentrated post office is selected as a case study to illustrate the procedure of economic analysis.

  • As bridge conditions in the United States continue to deteriorate, rapid bridge replacement procedures are needed. Decked precast prestressed concrete (DPPC) girders are used for rapid bridge construction because the bridge deck is precast with the girders eliminating the need for a cast-in-place slab. One of the concerns with using DPPC girders as a bridge construction option is the durability of the longitudinal joints between girders. The objectives of this paper were to propose a method to use a spring element modeling procedure for representing welded steel connector assemblies between adjacent girders in DPPC girder bridges, perform a preliminary study of bridge performance under multiple loading scenarios and bridge configurations, and discuss model flexibility for accommodating future field data for model verification. The spring elements have potential to represent the contribution of joint grout materials by altering the spring stiffness.

  • Proper evaluation about the penumbra is very important to improve the efficacy of radiation theraphy. There are two kinds of physical penumbra, geometric penumbra and transmission penumbra. In this study, we evaluated the variation of physical penumbra according to the varing energy level, changing the field size and depth. Physical penumbra width was decreased as the source size decreased, and as the SDD increased, but the consideration about the scatter radiation and mechanical stability is an important factor. For the two adjacent beams, upper collimator should be used and especially for Co-60 unit, it is efficient to use the extended collimator.

  • Most engineers, related to soil and civil dynamic field, have been interested in the direct dynamic design of building transmitted from soil and rock to structure due to blasting. However it is not easy to estimate the dynamic response of structures due to blasting by using analytical method because of difficulties of soil modeling, prediction of excitation force and so on. In this paper, dynamic analysis have been performed to predict vibration level and evaluate dynamic safety of structure adjacent to tunnel blast and the semi empirical method, which is based on vibration measurement data, has been employed to consider blast vibration characteristics.

  • For the purpose of evaluation of clinical characteristics and histopathological properties in mediastinal tumor, and to provide the guidelines of surgical management of mediastinal tumor,238 patients with mediastinal tumors treated during the period from January 1983 to December 1991 were reviewed at Seoul National University Hospital. There were 106 males & 132 females, and their ages ranged from 3 months to 73 years, with average 33.6 years. The most frequently encountered tumor site was anterosuperior mediastinum followed by posterior, and middle mediastinum. In the pathological viewpoint, thymoma was the most frequent type followed by neurogenic tumor. 81% of the tumor were benign and 19% were malignant. Half of the malignant tumors were neurogenic tumors. Malignancy rate was high in pediatric patients compared to adults as 40% and 19% respectively. 65% of patients were asymptomatic at diagnosis. There was no operative mortality. Post operative complications were occurred in 35 cases. Most frequent complications were adjacent peripheral nerve injuries. But other usual operative complications, such as bleeding, chylothorax, infection, were relatively rare.

  • A four-month-old intact femlae Abyssinian cat was present for routine health evaluation, because her littermate was recently died of ventricular septal defect. Diagnostic imaging studies showed a large caudal paracardiac mass in thoracic radiography and homogenous mass adjacent to heart in the echocardiography. Further echographic study revealed that the mass was liver and the diaphragmatic line was intact. The positive contrast celiogram revealed that no extravasation of the contrast media across the diaphragm and the prolapse of diaphragm into the pleural cavity. Based on our diagnostic imaging studies, the case was diagnosed as diaphragmatic deformity in a cat mimicking a cardiac mass.

  • The greatest suction on the cladding of flat roof low-rise buildings is known to occur beneath the conical vortices that form along the roof edges for cornering winds. In a companion paper, a model of the vortex flow mechanism has been developed which can be used to connect the surface pressure beneath the vortex to adjacent flow conditions. The flow model is experimentally validated in this paper using simultaneous velocity and surface pressure measurement on a 1 : 50 model of the Texas Tech University experimental building in a wind tunnel simulated atmospheric boundary layer. Flow visualization gives further insight into the nature of peak suction events. The flow model is shown to account for the increase in suction towards the roof corner as well as the presence of the highest suction at wind angles of $60^{\circ}$. It includes a parameter describing vortex suction strength, which is shown to be related to the nature of the reattachment, and also suggests how different components of upstream turbulence could influence the surface pressure.

  • High-rise buildings constructed adjacent to low-rise structures experience frequent damage caused by the associated strong wind. This study aimed to implement a standard evaluation of the wind environment and airflow characteristics around high-rise apartment blocks using wind tunnel tests (WTT) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The correlation coefficient between the CFD and wind tunnel results ranged between 0.6-0.8. Correlations below 0.8 were due to differences in the wake flow area range generated behind the target building according to wind direction angle and the effect of the surrounding buildings. In addition, a difference was observed between the average velocity ratio of the wake flow wind measured by the WTT and by the CFD analysis. The wind velocity values of the CFD analysis were therefore compensated, and, consequently, the correlations for most wind angles increased.

  • In is paper, we design and implement the low power, high speed touch screen controller that calculates and outputs the coordinate of touch point on the touch screen of mobile devices. The system clock is 10HMz, the number of input channels is 21, standby current is $20{\mu}A$, dynamic range of input is 140pF~400pF and the response time is 0.1ms/frame. It contains the power management unit for low power, automatic impedance calibration unit in order to adapt to humidity, temperature and evaluation board, adjacent key and pattern interference suppression unit, serial interface unit of I2C and SPI. The function and performance is verified by using FPGA and $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS standard process. The implemented touch screen is designed for using in the double layer ITO(Indium Thin Oxide) module with diamond pattern and single layer ITO module for cost-effective which are applied to mobile phone or smart remote controller.
