Evaluation plays an essential role in design activity. Many theorist have agreed that designing involves problem solving or decision making. In evaluation, designers attempt to determine the value of a particular proposal arrived at by synthesis. And the results of designing, the product, is evaluated twice, objectively and subjectively.Alternatives in $$\mu$ti-objective decision problems generally possess numerous attributes by which they can be described and compared. The evaluation factors include all attributes that have levels specified by quantitative and qualitative objectives. However since qualitiative factors are difficult to quantify as $$\mu$eral estmates, these factors have tended to be ignored without regard for their importance to human content. Therefore we need some study that convert qualitative attributes into quantitative scale values. Following to Thurstone' s Psychological scaling methods (The method of successive intervals), attribute values of TV set are assigned by rating scale methods. The method of successive intervals, like the method of equal-appearing intervals, requires but a single judgement from each subject for each statement to be scaled. It is, therefore, a convinient method to use when the number of to be scaled is large. We make the assumtion that those cu$$\mu$ative proportion distributions are normal for each statement when they are projected on the unknown psychological continuum. In this study, we have determined the scale values of 42 statements of TV set by the method of successive intervals. Then we can apply a test of internal consistency similar to that used with the method of paired comparisons. We have as our absolute average deviation, -1.748/252= -0.0069. We have reason to believe that our scale values are consistent with the empirical data, because these discrepanicies are very small.
Based on the actual operating environment of transformer, the aging tests of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were conducted systematically under four conditions: in air, in transform oil, under compression in air and under compression in transform oil to studythe effect of high temperature, transform oil and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber and predict the lifetime. The effects of liquid media and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber were studied by using characterization methods such as IR spectrosc-opy, thermogravimetric measurements, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and mechanical property measurements. The changes in physical properties during the aging process were analyzed and compared. Different aging conditions yielded materials with different properties. Aging at $70^{\circ}C$ under compression stress in oil, the change in elongation at break was lower than that aging in oil, but larger than that aging under compression in air. The compression set or elongation at break as evaluation indexes, 50% as critical value, the lifetime of NBR at $25^{\circ}C$ was predicted and compared. When aging under compression in oil, the prediction lifetime was lower than in air and under compression in air, and in oil. It was clear that when predicting the service lifetime of NBR in oil sealing application, compression and media liquid should be involved simultaneously. Under compression in oil, compression set as the evaluation index, the prediction lifetime of NBR was shorter than that of elongation at break as the evaluation index. For the life prediction of NBR, we should take into account of the performance trends of NBR under actual operating conditions to select the appropriate evaluation index.

Most of all Castle Remains in Korea were built on an axis of development with a scale of great magnitude. Because of its characteristics, the restoration and conservation plans should be phased in over medium and long term. There is no standards for evaluating the value of Castle Remains to set up the restoration and conservation sections. Some plans were set up through the value evaluation of its Castle Remains but those plans didn't have Evaluation System and different weight depending on different environment between Sanseong(mountain fortress) and Eupsung(fortress built in villages). To solve the limitation of Evaluation System of Castle Remains, this study try to approach in the Evaluation System methodology for selecting restoration sections. The results of its study follow below. First, this study drew the Evaluation Indices for selecting restoration sections of Castle Remains. There are three kinds of Elements(upper Index) and nine kinds of Evaluations(low Index). Second, Calculation of weight index by index on the questionnaire survey from expers through the relative importance analysis of AHP. Third, This study suggests the specific Evaluation System according to types; Sanseong(mountain fortress) and Eupsung(fortress built in villages);. Therefore, this study suggests standards to select the priority list for the restoration and conservation plan process and it can be used one of important standards in future plans.
This study investigate the interaction effects of bundle price discount framing and message framing on consumer's attitude of bundle component. Although each effect of bundle price discount framing and message framing has been explored individually, few attempts have been made to invest them jointly. This study tests the interaction effects of bundle price discount framing and message framing on consumer's evaluation of bundle component. Moreover, this research focuses on consumer's evaluation of individual bundle component while the existing research on bundling primarily focused on consumer's evaluation of the bundle. Prior research suggests that consumers are sensitive to the framing of prices and discounts in the presentation of the bundle offer. For example, there is considerable evidence that partitioning or consolidating the prices of a bundle can influence the attractiveness of the bundle offer. Similarly, there is evidence that an equivalent price reduction to the overall bundle, one of the individual products in the bundle, or distributed among the individual products in the bundle can alter the perceived attractiveness of the offer (e.g. Chakravarti, Krish, Paul, and Srivastava 2002; Hamilton and Srivastava 2008; Janiszewski and Cunha 2004; Johnson, Herrmann and Bauer 1999; ; Morwitz, Greenleaf, and Johnson 1998; Yadav 1994; 1995). In line with these earlier research, this research suggests that the bundle type can influence the consumer's evaluation of bundle component. There are two types of bundle - mixed-leader bundle and mixed-joint bundle. In mixed-leader bundling, the price of one of the two products is discounted when the other product is purchased at the regular price. In mixed-joint bundling, a single price is set when the two product are purchased jointly. This study supposes that the teeth whitening product is the leader product in a mixed-leader bundle. So bundle price discount framing is manipulated such as "Buy the teeth whitening product (regular price \80,000) and get 50% discount on the functional toothpaste(regular price \40,000), special set price \100,000" or "Buy the functional toothpaste and the teeth whitening product as a set and get discount for the set, special set price \60,000". Message framing is manipulated through the product claims described in an advertising bill. The positive framing presents that "Over 95% of users achieved the expected 2-3 shades of improvement in two weeks" where as the negative framing presents "less than 5% of users did not achieve the expected 2-3 shades of improvement in two weeks". This study uses hypothetical brand name of the teeth whitening product and the functional toothpaste This study is based on a 2x2 factorial design with bundle discount framing (mixed-leader bundle vs. mixed-joint bundle) and massage framing (positive vs. negative). The dependant variables are consumer's perceived quality and attitude of the teeth whitening product The data reveals that two dependant variables are correlated, so the data is analyzed with two-way MANOVA. This research explores the significant interaction effect of bundle discount framing and message framing on consumer's perceived quality and attitude of the teeth whitening product. When the message framing is positive, consumer's perceived quality and attitude of the teeth whitening product is higher in mixed-leader bundle than mixed-joint bundle condition. However, when the message framing is negative, consumer's evaluation is higher in mixed-joint bundle than mixed-leader bundle. The author explains this result by stating that consumers are less likely to use heuristics such as price-quality association and value discounting hypothesis(Raghubir 2004) in the negative message framing condition. Additionally, consumer's perceived risk of the teeth whitening product in the negative message framing condition can be more reduced by the bundle partner(e.g. the toothpaste) in mixed-joint bundle than mixed-leader bundle. Based on the results, marketing managers are advised to use different bundle type based on message framing of their product.
Though the airborne laser scanning (ALS) technique is becoming more popular in many applications, horizontal accuracy of points scanned by the ALS is not yet satisfactory when compared with the accuracy achieved for vertical positions. One of the major reasons is the drift that occurs in the inertial measurement unit (IMU) during the scanning. This paper presents an algorithm that adjusts for the error that is introduced mainly by the drift of the IMU that renders systematic differences between strips on the same area. For this, we set up an observation equation for strip-wise adjustments and completed it with tie point and control point coordinates derived from the scanned strips and information from aerial photos. To effectively capture the tie points, we developed a set of procedures that constructs a digital surface model (DSM) with breaklines and then performed feature-based matching on strips resulting in a set of reliable tie points. Solving the observation equations by the least squares method produced a set of affine transformation equations with 6 parameters that we used to transform the strips for adjusting the horizontal error. Experimental results after evaluation of the accuracy showed a root mean squared error (RMSE) of the adjusted strip points of 0.27 m, which is significant considering the RMSE before adjustment was 0.77 m.

The purpose of this study is to propose the proper vocabularies for evaluating H.D TV set fan noise. To achieve this goal, psycho-acoustic experiments were carried out with TV set fan noise modulated at specific frequency band. Finally, a correlation analysis between vocabularies, and a factor analysis of psycho-acoustical responses were conducted. As a result of this study, followings are suggested. Analyzing the psycho-acoustical response corresponding to the various sound level, the higher the sound levels, the higher the response values were. It is estimated that the sound level determined psycho-acoustical responses. On the degree of response to fan noise, the initial level of negative feeling is located on $35{\sim}40$ dB(A). The factor of evaluating H.D. TV set fan noise has induced three the appropriate korean adjectives; Irritate, Monotonous, stuffy and dryness. The result of this study may be used to evaluate the acoustic threshold level for indoor noise or a basis for specifying the desired acoustic environment of dwellings.

Dysfunction of the anterior and dorsal muscles of the trunk have been studied in relation to low back pain of many years. Many muscles of the trunk are capable of contributing to the stabilization and protection of the lumbar spine, recent evidence has suggested that transversus abdominis may be critically involved and has been the focus of rehabilitation. The delay in onset of contraction of trunk muscles associated with movement of the upper or lower limb in patients with low back pain indicates a significant deficit in the automatic motor command for control of disturbance to the spine. The function of transversus abdominis has been largely ignored in the evaluation of spinal stabilization and protection. The most essential stabilizing muscles for the lumbar column are the transversus abdominis and the multifidus. Sling exercise therapy(SET) concept consists of a system of diagnosis and treatment. The system of diagnosis involves testing the muscle's tolerance through progressive loading in open and close kinetic chains. The SET system contains elements such as relaxation, increasing the range of movement, traction, training the stabilizing musculature, sensorimotor exercises, training in open and close kinetic chains, dynamic training of the mobilizing musculature, cardiovasc+ular exercises, group exercise, personal exercise at home. Sensorimotor training is an essential element of the SET concept. The emphasis is on closed kinetic chain exercises on an unstable surface, thereby achieving optimum stimulation of the sensorimotor apparatus.

Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) is commonly used, by car makers and parts suppliers, analysis process to root the cause of NVH problems. In general, TPA is an analyzing technique to find the contributing factors of noise/vibration problems, and their transfer path in vehicle. However, not only TPA is used to analyze the source of NVH problems but also is used to predict NVH performance prior to the proto vehicle, or to set the development target for next new vehicle. Automotive parts manufacturing companies have to set NVH performance target when developing new systems just as car makers have NVH target set for new vehicle. Nevertheless, most of components are currently being developed based on subjective evaluation without an objective target. To judge the suitability of using TPA to set NVH target of electric parking brake, this research analyzed the transfer path by setting them in two points of view; Chassis Module and Electric Parking Brake, and comparing the measured value and calculated value. From this result, NVH target of electric parking brake will be approached in level of vehicle, system and component.
This study focuses on the application of multi-criteria performance measures based on the concept of equifinality to the calibration of the rainfall-runoff model TOPMODEL in a small deciduous forest catchment. The performance of each parameter set was evaluated by six performance measures, individually, and each set was identified as a behavioral or non-behavioral parameter set by a given behavioral acceptance threshold. Many behavioral parameter sets were scattered throughout the parameter space, and the range of model behavior and the sensitivity for each parameter varied considerably between the different performance measures. Sensitivity was very high in some parameters, and varied depending on the kind of performance measure as well. Compatibilities of behavioral parameter sets between different performance measures also varied, and very few parameter sets were selected to be used in making god predictions for all performance measures. Since different behavioral parameter sets with different likelihood weights were obtained for each performance measure, the decision on which performance measure to be used may be very important to achieve the goal of study. Therefore, one or more suitable performance measures should be selected depending on the environment and the goal of a study, and this may lead to decrease model uncertainty.
This paper represents a comparative study in which Gene Expression Programming (GEP), Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH), and multiple linear regressions (MLR) were utilized to derive new equations for the prediction of time-dependent bearing capacity of pile foundations driven in cohesive soil, technically called pile set-up. This term means that many piles which are installed in cohesive soil experience a noticeable increase in bearing capacity after a specific time. Results of researches indicate that side resistance encounters more increase than toe resistance. The main reason leading to pile setup in saturated soil has been found to be the dissipation of excess pore water pressure generated in the process of pile installation, while in unsaturated conditions aging is the major justification. In this study, a comprehensive dataset containing information about 169 test piles was obtained from literature reviews used to develop the models. to prepare the data for further developments using intelligent algorithms, Data mining techniques were performed as a fundamental stage of the study. To verify the models, the data were randomly divided into training and testing datasets. The most striking difference between this study and the previous researches is that the dataset used in this study includes different piles driven in soil with varied geotechnical characterization; therefore, the proposed equations are more generalizable. According to the evaluation criteria, GEP was found to be the most effective method to predict set-up among the other approaches developed earlier for the pertinent research.
