  • Objective: The objective of this research is to develop evaluation checklist for personal office furniture and apparatus to shape comfortable and efficient worksite for workers' welfare improvement, productivity enhancement and labor force preservation, and to identify office work environment by applying the checklist. Background: Because most office workers work using computers in a sitting posture, the ratio of office workers among total musculoskeletal disorders patients is forecast to increase. In this regard, an effort to prevent and manage such musculoskeletal disorders is required. Method: This research developed evaluation checklist for personal office furniture and apparatus by examining 25 domestic and international ergonomic literature and anthropometric data. This research carried out a fact-finding survey targeting the A Office and B Office of one public agency using the checklist. Results: Although, the checklist items on desks, chairs, computers and other goods conformed to the checklist standards, the following items did not conformed: desk height adjustment, seat board depth adjustment, lumbar support depth, foot rest, wrist rest, mouse tray, headset, speaker phone and Bluetooth. Conclusion: The evaluation checklist for personal office furniture and apparatus and fact-finding survey results are considered to be used as basic data for office work environment and workers' welfare improvement. Application: The information drawn from this research can be helpful to manufacturers' design and manufacture of ergonomic furniture and apparatus.

  • In the last decade, the research of the usability of mobile phones has been a newly evolving area with few established methodologies and realistic practices that ensure capturing usability in evaluation. Thus, there exists growing demand to explore appropriate evaluation methodologies that evaluate the usability of mobile phones quickly as well as comprehensively. This study aims to develop a task-based usability checklist based on heuristic evaluations in views of mobile phone UI practitioners. A hierarchical structure of UI design elements and usability principles related to mobile phones were developed and then utilized to develop the checklist. In order to demonstrate the practical effectiveness of the proposed checklist, comparative experiments were conducted on the usability checklist and usability testing. Majority of usability problems found by usability testing and additional problems were discovered by the proposed checklist. It is expected that the usability checklist proposed in this study could be used quickly and efficiently by usability practitioners to evaluate the mobile phone UI in the middle of the mobile phone development process.

  • This research aims to securement of crime prevention for school violence and invasion from outside etc. For crime prevention efficiency secure, It has purpose for school current state comprehension and prevention essential elements deduction autonomously etc. Furthermore, school facility crime dangerousness evaluation checklist is looked for autonomous monitoring tools. This checklist made from analysis of frequency, importance and check availability of 6 native and foreign existing CPTED evaluation's 360 indexes. Then, 81 indexes was derived from analysis, and that indexs verified through focus group interview. Finally, total 47 articles checklist emerged with general details, external school, internal school, and school administrative managements. Through this checklist, school can select essential elements of the preferential crime prevention autonomously, and so it is expected to prompt improvement of crime dangerousness elements, school violence and reduction of crime rate.

  • In this study, a self-administered checklist for evaluation of the musculoskeletal disorders risk factors in construction industry was developed, and its reliability and validity were studied. 10 items of the checklist were determined based on the literature review, and total 2,793 construction workers participated in the analysis of the checklist's applicability. The results from the reliability analysis showed high Cohen's kappa coefficient (0.50~0.77), and high validity was also obtained in terms of relative risk (RR 1.73~9.14). Positive predictability was relatively low (13.0~32.5%), while negative predictability was high (80.1~96.8%). It can be concluded that the checklist would be suitable as a quick filtering tool of the ergonomic risk factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to help science gifted students construct posters after conducting scientific open inquiry. To this end, we analyzed 25 posters written by elementary science gifted students and extracted deficient aspects from the posters. Based on this, a checklist consisting of 17 items in 5 categories was developed to help students construct posters. By applying the developed checklist to the evaluation of 14 posters constructed by science gifted students in middle school, the correlations between evaluators and Cohen's kappa values showed high reliability. In addition, by comparing the evaluation results of the seven 7 posters constructed using the checklist with the evaluation results of control group, a significant difference at the level of p<.01 was obtained, therefore, the usefulness of the checklist was confirmed. Students who used checklists responded positively, including that the checklist helped them to recognize deficiencies in their inquiry and to construct posters systematically without omitting key items of the posters. Finally, additional considerations were discussed for the preparation and presentation of the students' posters.

  • When a product is designed, it is important to consider its image on consumers. In this study, we developed a technique to measure product image. Because human image of a product is very subjective and fuzzy, it is difficult to measure easily. To deal with this difficulty effectively, we used fuzzy- weighted checklist. The fuzzy-weighted checklist presents a fuzzy version of the weighted checklist technique for evaluating or comparing complex systems or subjects. In this technique, we used a pairwise comparison method to obtain the relative importance weights of image factors. Also, we used linguistic ratings to obtain the scores of image factors for a product. Then, we synthesized the scores of image factors to obtain a fuzzy composite score and its linguistic approximation. The entire procedure of this technique was written in quick Basic. As an example, this techinque is applied to car evaluation. The results show that this technique can be effectively used to the quqntitative evaluation of huamn image.

  • Integration and standardization of the related regulations and guidelines are necessary to evaluate a CFMS in a systematic manner. In this study, a hierachically categorized evaluation checklist was developed by collecting and structuring human factors issues listed in the various regulations, design requirements, and technical report. A PC-based database management system was developed to update and review the evaluation results. Standard interpretation examples, evaluation guidelines, and sample evaluation formats were also designed and integrated into the database system to reduce discrepancy in evaluation.

  • Checklist method is rapid and comprehensive to evaluate in practice. Check items are commonly rated by subjective utility function; i.e., evaluator's significant judgment. Since human judgment includes fuzziness (vagueness) inherently in spite of its significance, fuzzy set theory is useful in this case. The paper illustrates a evaluation method using fuzzy checklist where check items are rated as fuzzy numbers. Pairwise comparison data is used to determine the weights of check items, since it has comparative advantage for human's fuzzy judgment. Sample of BASIC program is provided for microcomputer. When uncertainty is due to subjectivity or imprecision of data, this method can be applied to practical problems widely.

  • The goal of this study was to establish the evaluation method, which consist of the principle, factor, procedure and checklist, on environmental camp program and then to support staffs of environmental camp for decision-making to improve pre-program and develop new one. The main principles of the evaluation method established in this study were Hierarchical holism and Open inter-communication. First, hierarchical holism focused at the interaction among six factors, which were divided by 3 steps : 1) goal(and objectives) 2) learners and sites 3) activities, staffs and media. Second, open inter-communication could be defined a feedback process among all program participants : manager, staff, teacher, volunteer, learner and so on. The evaluation checklist had been developed of 10 comprehensive items and 30 factor-items at the preliminary step but some items were assessed some complex or duplicate in the result of 3 case studies. The suggested checklist was diminished to 5 comprehensive items and 25 factor-items. Several alternatives, which included specifing learners and objectives, developing site-oriented program and establishing the evaluation sheet were suggested for improving environmental camp program.
