Flexible Intelligent Exit Sign Management of Cloud-Connected Buildings

  • Emergencies and disasters can happen any time without any warning, and things can change and escalate very quickly, and often it is swift and decisive actions that make all the difference. It is a responsibility of the building facility management to ensure that a proven evacuation plan in place to cover various worst scenario to handled automatically inside the facility. To mapping out optimal safe escape routes is a straightforward undertaking, but does not necessarily guarantee residents the highest level of protection. The emergency evacuation navigation approach is a state-of-the-art that designed to evacuate human livings during an emergencies based on real-time decisions using live sensory data with pre-defined optimum path finding algorithm. The poor decision on causalities and guidance may apparently end the evacuation process and cannot then be remedied. This paper propose a cloud connected emergency evacuation system model to react dynamically to changes in the environment in emergency for safest emergency evacuation using IoT based emergency exit sign system. In the previous researches shows that the performance of optimal routing algorithms for evacuation purposes are more sensitive to the initial distribution of evacuees, the occupancy levels, and the type and level of emergency situations. The heuristic-based evacuees routing algorithms have a problem with the choice of certain parameters which causes evacuation process in real-time. Therefore, this paper proposes an evacuee routing algorithm that optimizes evacuation by making using high computational power of cloud servers. The proposed algorithm is evaluated via a cloud-based simulator with different "simulated casualties" are then re-routed using a Dijkstra's algorithm to obtain new safe emergency evacuation paths against guiding evacuees with a predetermined routing algorithm for them to emergency exits. The performance of proposed approach can be iterated as long as corrective action is still possible and give safe evacuation paths and dynamically configure the emergency exit signs to react for real-time instantaneous safe evacuation guidance.

병원 외래진료부에서의 피난 과밀 공간 분석 모델에 관한 연구 (A Space Analysis Model of Evacuation Overcrowding at Hospital Outpatient Department)

  • This study aimed to suggest a quantitative model analyzing overcrowding area under emergency evacuation situation in the outpatient department of hospital. Overall study process included the review on legal conditions of an emergency evacuation, the investigation of precedent research documents and the analysis of spatial configuration. The user movement with considering exit gates and the one without considering exit gates were analyzed for routine activity condition. An agent-based simulation was applied for the analysis. Also, user movement for the emergency condition was tested with evacuation simulation. The variation of simulation conditions revealed the difference between overcrowding spaces from situation change. At all nodes, visit frequencies derived from different conditions and situations were compared. The overcrowding spaces are to increase the risk of delaying emergency evacuation time which is critical for user safety. It suggests the need for dispersing overcrowding spaces under evacuation situation. The suggested analysis model can evaluate overcrowding spaces in the outpatient department of hospital and provide locational data for distributing evacuation design resources.

피난계단 출입구 유효너비가 수용인원의 피난시간에 미치는 영향 분석 (Analysis of the Effect of the Effective width of the Exit of the Evacuation Stairs on the Evacuation Time of the Occupants)

  • 연구목적: 건축법에 따라 설치되는 피난계단 출입구의 최소 유효 폭(90cm) 기준이 해당 층을 사용하는 전체 재실자의 피난 시간과는 어떤 관계가 있는지 피난 관점에서 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법: 출입구 폭의 변화에 따라 재실자의 피난 시간에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 피난 시뮬레이션(Pathfinder)을 통하여 알아보았다. 연구결과: 출입구의 유효 폭이 최소기준 90cm보다 커지면 커질수록 피난계단으로의 피난 시간이 단축되는 것을 알 수 있었고, 더불어 출입구의 너비가 일정 크기 이상 되면 피난 시간은 더는 단축되지 않는다는 사실도 알 수 있었다. 이는 해당 층 전체 재실자의 수에 따라 피난계단 출입구의 유효 너비를 적정하게 달리 적용할 수 있다는 방증(傍證)이기도 한 것이다. 결론: 앞으로는 재실자의 피난 안전성 확보를 위해 용도별 전체 수용인원을 고려한 피난 계단 출입구 유효 폭 기준이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 더불어 연구 및 실험을 통해 용도별 수용인원에 따른 다양한 출입구 유효 폭 기준이 만들어진다면 재실자의 피난 효율성이 크게 증대될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

고시원 화재시 복도 및 비상구 폭에 따른 피난소요시간 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Variation of Evacuation Time according to the Width of Corridor and the Emergency Exit in Gosiwon's Fire State)

  • The purpose of this study is to present an alternative plan in order to reduce the required time to flee from the inside of the gosiwon in danger. The data were derived from changing the width of corridors and emergency exits and the number of stairs in the building EXODUS, which is computer simulation program, The analyzed conclusions from the data are following as below (1) Increasing the exits and the number of stairs are efficient to reduce the accumulated time for standing by. (2) Increasing the number of stairs is efficient to decrease the distance to get out of the building to exit. (3) Increasing the number of stairs is efficient to reduce the time to get out of the building to exit.

  • There have been subway conflagrations such as Daegu subway conflagration at 2003, Washington D.C conflagration last month and so on. Compared to that, proper evacuation route is far from satisfactory. So this paper suggests optimized route when subway's passengers evacuate from passenger cars. For conducting our experiment, We made temporarily a model of subway station which is made up with 8 passengers cars and 3 exits. Using genetic algorithm, we found the optimized route that first and second passenger cars are optimized to first exit and third, fourth, fifth and sixth passengers cars are optimized to second exit and finally seventh, eighth passengers cars are optimized to third exit. It is expected that real subway station is applied to our experiment by developing passenger distribution algorithm.

  • The law reflects the situation of the times, understands the society, and shows the will of the state and the community. The Means of Egress should be maintained from design to construction, supervision, as well as use, in order to protect the lives and property of the residents as well as the safe use of the facilities. However, Interior Architects are think that evacuation and safety regulations are complex elements that change frequently and may inhibit the idea of design. The purpose of this study is to propose a design method for the use of safe facilities in the interior architectural design on the evacuation regulations affecting the actual design by the IBC(the International Building Code) and NFPA(National Fire Protection Association) LSC (Life Safety Code). The research method is to investigate and analyze the provisions related to the evacuation of interior architecture in the US and to understand the current regulations and the evacuation regulations. We suggest to design method to the details of the hallway, corridors, aisle accessway, door way, exit path, In particular, the design of furniture, tables and chairs layout that could be obstacles to evacuation situations is presented.

화재 크기와 피난연결통로를 고려한 도로터널의 성능기반 피난안전성 평가 (Performance-Based Evaluation on Evacuation Safety of Road Tunnels Considering Fire Size and Evacuation Exit)

  • 이 연구에서는 일반적인 도로터널의 피난안전성을 평가하기 위한 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. Fire Dynamics Simulator(FDS)를 활용하여 화재 크기를 변수로 화재시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 도로터널의 피난허용시간을 도출하였다. 또한, Pathfinder를 활용하여 피난연결 통로의 간격과 차단문의 폭을 고려한 피난시뮬레이션을 수행하고, 피난요구시간을 산정하였다. 피난허용시간과 피난요구시간을 비교하여 화재 크기, 피난연결통로의 간격, 차단문의 폭에 따른 도로터널의 피난안전성을 평가하였다. 화재 및 피난 시뮬레이션 결과에 따르면 화재 크기와 피난연결통로의 간격이 증가하고 차단문의 폭이 감소할수록 사상자의 수가 증가하였으며, 차단문의 폭이 1.2 m 이상으로 증가하면 피난연결통로 간격이 증가함에 따라 사상자의 수가 감소하였다.

건물화재의 정전시 축광유도표지가 피난에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Photoluminescent Exit Signs in Evacuation in the Event of Failure of the Power from the Building Fire)

  • 본 연구는 건물화재의 정전시 완전 암흑상태에서 축광유도표지가 피난에 미치는 영향을 측정하기 위하여 조사하였다 실험조사는 대구 Fire EXPO '05에 실험 장치를 전시하여 엑스포 관람자 520명을 대상으로 2005년 5월 26일부터 29일까지 실시되었다. 실험 조사결과 안전 암흑상태일 때 피난자세는 남자의 경우 $70\%$, 여자는 $72\%$가 벽을 더듬으며 피난한 반면에 축광유도표지가 설치된 경우에는 남자의 경우 $88\%$, 여자의 경우 $83\%$가 선채로 피난을 한 것으로 나타났다. 나이별, 신장별, 시력별로 53초에서 64초까지 피난시간이 단축된 것으로 나타났다. 공공건물의 바닥에 축광유도표지를 설치하면 화재시 정전이 되더라도 평소와 다름없이 피난을 할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

학교의 피난 안전성 확보를 위한 층별 학급 배치방안 (The Floor Layout Plan of Classrooms for Securing Evacuation Stability in School)

  • 이 연구는 패스파인더 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 활용하여 학교의 피난 안전성 확보를 위한 효율적인 학급 층별 배치 방안 분석을 목적으로 한다. 경사로와 계단이 함께 설치된 고등학교 5층 건물을 대상으로 층별 인원배치에 따른 REST (Required Safe Egress Time, 피난소요시간)을 분석하여 효율적인 피난 방법과 안전성을 평가하였다. 현재 상태의 인원배치는 기준 RSET을 초과함으로써 피난안전성에 문제가 있다는 결과를 얻었다. 학생들을 3층, 4층, 5층에 배치했을 때 기준 RSET보다 가장 많은 시간을 초과하는 결과를 얻었다. 학생들을 1층, 2층, 3층에 배치했을 때 기준 RSET보다 가장 짧게 피난을 완료하는 결과를 얻었다. 현재의 상태에서 위치별로 피난출구를 지정하여 피난을 유도했을 때 기준 RSET을 단축시키는 결과를 얻었다. 결과적으로 고층 학교 건물에 학생들을 배치할 때는 저층부터 배치하는 것이 피난안전성 측면에서 효과적이며, 화재 시 위치별로 가까운 출구를 활용하여 피난할 수 있도록 피난출구를 지정한 사전 훈련이 필요하다. 향후 연구과제로 특정 위치에 화재가 발생했을 때 해당 위치의 자동방화셔터의 개폐여부에 따른 RSET에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요하다.

MAS 기반 피난시뮬레이션을 이용한 분산대피 비교 연구 (A comparative Study for dispersion model in evacuation plan by using MAS-based evacuation simulation)

  • Smoke is one of the most critical factor when escaping from the fire since it reduces visibility and interrupts finding emergency exit lights. Therefore, it is recommended that an evacuation simulation program should incorporate the smoke factor. In addition, it is suggested that the program should include not only the unilateral damage by the smoke but also the detour evacuation by risk communication. In this study, MAS (Multi Agent System)-based simulation program which incorporates the reduced walking speed by smoke and adopts the dispersion evacuation logic during escaping from the fire. To make comparison, a commercial evacuation program, Pathfinder was used. It was found that the simulation results of MAS (Multi Agent System)-based program is better than Pathfinder in terms of safe evacuation. It means that evacuation simulation need a additional evaluation categories that include not only quick evacuation time but also safe evacuee number.
