Major, trace and rare earth elements data of the Cretaceous Jindong granitic rocks were investigated in order to constrain the magma source characteristics and to establish the paleotectonic environment of the southwestern part of the Gyeongsang Basin. Geochemical signatures of the granitic rocks from the study area indicate that all of the rocks have characteristics of calc-alkaline series in the subalkaline field, and progressively shift from metaluminous to peraluminous with differentiation. In the variation diagrams, the overall geochemical features of the granites show systematic variations in major and trace elements. Chondrite normalized REE patterns show generally enriched LREE((La/Yb)c=4.2-12.8) and slight negative to flat Eu anomalies. Rb-Sr isotope data of the Jindong granites show that the whole rock age and Sr initial ratio are $114.6{\pm}9.1Ma$ and 0.70457, respectively. The Sr initial ratio of the Jindong granites is very similar to those of the Creataceous granites from Masan, Kimhae and Busan area($^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr=0.7049-0.707$). These results suggest that the magma have the mantle signature and intruded into the area during the early Cretaceous age. The Jindong granites have higher $Al_{2}O_{3},\;Na_{2}O$, Sr and lower $K_{2}O$, Y concentrations compared with typical calc-alkaline granitic rocks. These adakitic signatures are similar to those of adakitic pluton on Kyushu Island, southwest Japan arc. On the ANK vs. ACNK and tectonic discrimination diagrams, parental magma type of the granites corresponds to I-type, VAG granite. Interpretations of the geochemical characteristics of the granitic rocks favor their emplacement at continental margin during the subduction of Izanagi plate.
Various organic acid were used in order to prepare new metalorganic deposition solution for high quality $REBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ (RE=Y, Eu, Gd) films. Prepared fluorine free MO precursor solution was coated on single crystal (001) $LaAlO_3$ (LAO) by dip coating method. Processing parameters such as oxygen partial pressure, water vapor, ramping rate and pyrolysis temperature etc havebeen controlled in order to make high $J_c$ films with a good epitaxial relationship with substrate. 0.5 micron-thick film was obtained by single coating and no crack appeared after calcination. Oxygen partial pressure was varied in the range of $100{\sim}1,000 ppm$ and conversion heat treatment was carried out at the temperature of $725{\sim}765^{\circ}C$. A critical transition temperature $(T_{c0})$ of 90K and a critical transport current density $(J_c)$ of $>0.5MA/cm^2$ (77K and self-field) were demonstrated for the YBCO film on (001) oriented LAO substrates with a thickness of 0.5 micron. $I_c$ was determined by utilizing a transport measurement. SEM and XRD investigations confirmed that films were grown epitaxially onto the LAO single crystal substrate. It is thought that fluorine free new MOD solutionis promising for high quality REBCO films.
The small modular sodium-cooled fast reactor (SMSFR) is an important component of Generation-IV reactors. The objective of this work is to improve the reactivity control in SMSFR by using innovative systems, including burnable poisons and optimized control rods. SMSFR with MOX fuel usually exhibits high burnup reactivity loss that leads to high excess reactivity and potential fuel melting in control rod withdrawal (CRW) accidents, which becomes an important constraint on the safety and economic efficiency of SMSFR. This work applies two types of burnable poisons in a SMSFR to reduce the excess reactivity. The first one homogenously loads minor actinides in the fuel. The second one combines absorber and moderators in specific assemblies. The influence of burnable poisons on the core characteristics is discussed and integrated into the analysis of CRW accidents. The results show that burnable poisons improve the safety performance of the core in a significant way. Burnable poisons also lessen the demand for the number, absorption ability, and insertion depth of control rods. Two optimized control rod designs with rare earth oxides (Eu2O3 and Gd2O3) and moderators are compared to the conventional design with natural boron carbide (B4C). The optimized designs show improved neutronic and safety performance.

Long lasting phosphor materials are in great demand for their applications in the area of light emitting diodes (LEDs), commercial displays and warning signals. After glow longevity, brightness, photo-resistance and chemical and environment stability are most important qualities that are desired for these materials. Alumina as host lattice with various rare earth elements has been found to be good at the same time inexpensive material for the synthesis of the phosphor materials. This communication explored the effect of mixed rare earth metal on the luminescence properties of these materials for the first time. Various permutations and combinations of $Sr^{2+}$ and $Ba^{2+}$ have been investigated in order to achieve robust and high luminescence characteristics in the tailored phosphor materials.
There are currently considerable interests in the applications of conjugated polymers, oligomers. and small molecules for thin-film electronic devices. Organic materials have potential advantages to be utilized as semiconductors in field-effect transistors and light-emitting diodes. In this study we fabricated the devices based on pentacene as active layer. Octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) is used as buffer layer between $SiO_2$ and pentacene. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electrical conductivity were used with OTS on $SiO_2$ 10nm which the pentacene layer was thermally evaporated in vacuum at a pressure of about $2.0\times10^{-6}$ Torr. In the result of AFM, the grain length is grown by using OTS for surface treatment. Electrical conductivity is changed from $3.19{\times}10^{-6}$ S/cm to $2.12{\times}10^{-7}$ S/cm. We observed that electrical conductivity is also increased by surface treatment. According to these results, the surface treated devices exhibited the increase to compared no treatment.

We examined the antimicrobial activity of electrolyzed alkaline water against spoilage microorganisms in rice warehouses. Dominant microbial species were isolated from paddy, dust and air samples of three different warehouses located in Gyeongnam. We used electrolyzed alkaline water (EW) manufactured over various treatment times. The acidities (pH) of EW treated for 30 sec, 1, 2, 3, and 4 min were 8.89, 8.91, 9.20, 9.35, and 9.22, respectively. HClO contents were 150.7, 314.2, 191.8, 104.1, and 255.3 ppm, respectively. EW inhibited bacteria, yeasts, and molds; also, it inhibited three yeast species strongly. The antimicrobial effects of EW increased as pH values and HClO contents increased. EW obtained after 30 sec treatment retained the antimicrobial activities after 14 days whereas EW obtained after 1 and 2 min treatments retained the antimicrobial activities after 21 and 24 days, respectively.
In this work the electrical characteristics of organic TFTs with the semiconductor-insulator interfaces, where the gate dielectrics were treated by the two methods which are the deposition of Octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) on the insulator and rubbing the insulator surface. Pentacene is used as an active semiconducting layer. The semiconductor layer of pentacene was thermally evaporated in vacuum at a pressure of about $2{\times}10^{-7}$ Torr and at a deposition rate of $0.3{\AA}/sec$. Aluminum and gold were used for the gate and source/drain electrodes. OTS is used as a self-alignment layer between $SiO_2$ and pentacene. The gate dielectric surface was rubbed before pentacene is deposited on the insulator. In order to confirm the changes of the surface morphology the atomic force microscopy (AFM) was utilized. The characteristics of the fabricated TFTs are measured to clarify the effects of the surface treatment.
The $2{\nu}_{C=0}$ + amide III combination band spectrum of acetamide (AA) was obtained in very dilute solutions of AA+lanthanide shift reagents (LSR) in carbon tetrachloride over the range of $15^{\circ}$ to $45^{\circ}C$. It was found that only 1 : 1 AA-LSR complex is formed by the interaction between carbonyl oxygen of AA and central metal ion(Ln(Ⅲ)) in LSR. The thermodynamic parameters for Ln(III)${\cdot}$O=C bond were determined by computer analysis of concentration and temperature dependent spectra. ${\Delta}H^{\circ}$ for the coordination of AA to Eu$(dpm)_3$, Yb$(dpm)_3$, and Pr$(dpm)_3$ have been found to be -39.1, -28.4, and -25.5 kJ/mol, respectively. It has shown that this type of ion-dipole interaction is more than twice stronger compared to the dipole-dipole interaction in the amide linkage, and largely depending on the steric hindrence effect by the bulky dpm groups around central metal ion (Ln(III)) rather than the ionic potential effect of central metal ion itself.
The Jido Pond system was investigated from April, 1979 through March, 1980, in respect of seasonal changes in physico-chemical factors: i.e., temperature, pH, DO, BOD, COD, $Cl^-, \; Mg^{++}$, alkalinity, detergent, $SiO_2, PO_4\;^{3-}, NH_4\;^+, NO_2\;^-, NO_3\;^-$, total N, OM and OC; phytoplankton community growth; and the ecosystem metabolism. The phytoplankton community was represented by 23 species belonging to Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta and Cyanophyta; each sharing 11, 9 3 respectively. The Chlorophyceans dominated the phytoplankton community contributing 75% of the total ?미 counts. The ranges of biotic diversity indices were, d, 0.85~2.80; H, 1.10~2.40; c, 0.13~0/40; and 3, 0.56~0.90. The chlorophyll standing crop varied in between 0.043 and 0.385g/$\textrm{cm}^2$ surface area. The ranges of photosynthetic and respiratory rates were 0.36~4.50; and 0.10~1.40 $O_2$ mg/1/hr, respectively. The monthly areal net primary production varied from 23.9 to 305.1C g/$\textrm{m}^2$/month. The Eu of the net production seasonally varied in between 0.31 and 7.80%, and the annual mean was 2.44%. The annual turnover times of phosphorus and nitrogen were 20 and 3 days, respectively.
