졸-겔 방법을 이용한 BaGd2TiO13 구조의 제작

  • Ce3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Tb3+ 등 희토류를 도핑한 여러 종류의 형광체는 백색 LED (white light-emitting diode), 전계방출표시소자(field emission display), 플라즈마디스플레이패널(plasma display panel), 약물 운송(drug delivery) 등 다양한 분야에서 응용되고 있다. 최근에는 졸-겔 방법(sol-gel method)을 이용하여Y2SiO5, Y3-XGdxAl5O12, SrAl2O4 등 여러 종류의 호스트 물질을 합성하여 형광체의 특성을 분석하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이러한 졸-겔 방법은 비교적 낮은 온도에서 간단한 공정으로 좋은 균질성과 높은 생산성을 갖도록 형광체를 제작할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 졸-겔 방법을 이용하여 BaGd2TiO13구조를 제작하였고, 이러한 구조적, 광학적 특성을 분석하기 위하여 열분석기(thermal analyzer), 전계방출형주사전자현미경(field emission scanning electron microscopy), 투과전자현미경(field emission transmission electron microscopy)을 이용하였다. 이러한 졸-겔 방법을 이용하여 제작한 BaGd2TiO13 구조의 형광체 적용 연구를 통한 디스플레이 및 백색 LED 응용에 유용할 것으로 기대된다.

Eu-doped LGF Luminescent Down Converter Possible for TiO2 Dye Sensitized Solar Cells

  • For improving solar efficiencies, down conversion of high-energy photons to visible lights is discussed. The losses due to thermalization of charge carriers generated by the absorption of high-energy photons, can largely be reduced in a solar cell if more than one electron-hole pair can be generated per incident photon. The solar cell was constructed of dye-sensitized anatase-based TiO$_2$, approximately 30nm particle size, 6$\mu\textrm{m}$thickness, and 6${\times}$6$\textrm{mm}^2$ active area, Pt counter electrode and I$_3$$\^$-/I$_2$$\^$-/ electrolyte. After correction for losses due to light reflection and absorption by the conducting glass, the conversion of photons to electric current is practically quantitative in the plateau region of the curves. The incident photon to current conversion efficiency(IPCE) of N3 used as a dye in this work is about 80% at around 590nm and 610nm which is the emission spectrum of Eu doped LGF. The Eu doped LGF powder was prepared by conventional ceramic process, and used as a down converter for DSC after spin coated on the slide glass and fired.

Study of Europium-activated Calcium Aluminium Silicate Phosphors (유로피움-활성화 칼슘 알루미늄 실리케이트 형광체 연구)

  • Europium$(Eu^{2+}\;or\;Eu^{3+})$-activated calcium aluminium silicate phosphors were synthesized for the first time and the structures and luminescence characteristics of these phosphors were investigated. The phosphors in this study emitted blue, green, and even red light depending on the starting milterials and annealing conditions for synthesis. In addition, the structure was also changed when the different starting materials were used. When $CaCO_3$ was used as a starting material, tetragonal $Ca_2Al_2SiO_7$ was formed. However, pure green light was emitted when the annealing was conducted in reduced atmosphere and red one was emitted by annealing in air. In the case of $CaSiO_3$ as a starting material, triclinic $CaAl_2Si_2O_8$ was formed and only pure blue emission was observed. Moreover, this blue phosphor exhibited higher intensity than that of commercial YAG:Ce phosphor, which showed the possibility of application on the phosphor for new light source such as a UV-LED.

Combinatorial Synthesis and Screening of the Eu-activated Phosphors in the System MO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2$(M=Sr, Ba)

  • We have synthesized some phosphors in the system MO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2$(M=Sr, Ba) by combinatorial polymerized-complex method. Composition and synthetic temperature of phosphors in the liblary was screened from the emission intensities of individual samples under 365nm excitation. As we were screened the higher luminescent candidate composition (or candidate host lattice) at 365nm excitation, investigated whether good radiation was possible at the 405 or 465nm excitation by give the host lattice to be discovered more various change. From libraries about 2 systems, the compound to be expected in long wavelength among the compound to be screened are $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}$, $Sr_3Al_2O_6$, $SrAl_2Si_2O_8$, and $BaAl_2Si_2O_8$.

Eu가 도핑된 CaMoO4 적색 형광체 박막의 특성

  • 최근에 적색 발광체를 개발하고자 무기물 모체에 다양한 활성제 이온을 주입하는 연구가 상당한 관심을 끌고 있다. 본 연구에서는 발광 효율이 높은 적색 형광체 박막을 제조하고자 활성제 이온 $Eu^{3+}$가 도핑된 $CaMoO_4:Eu^{3+}$를 라디오파 마그네트론 스퍼터링을 사용하여 증착하였다. 두 종류의 박막을 성장하였는데, 한 종류는 증착 온도 ($100-400^{\circ}C$)를 달리하여 성장한 후 $570^{\circ}C$에서 열처리를 실시하였고, 다른 한 종류는 동일한 온도 $300^{\circ}C$에서 증착한 후에 열처리 온도(420, 470, 520, $570^{\circ}C$)를 변화시켜 제조하였다. 증착 온도와 열처리 온도에 따른 적색 형광체 박막의 흡광과 발광 특성, 결정 구조, 입자의 크기와 표면 형상, 밴드갭 에너지의 크기를 조사하였다. 열처리 온도에 따른 적색 형광체 박막의 경우에, 파장 308 nm로 여기 시켰을 때 발광 세기가 가장 강한 616 nm의 주 피크를 방출하는 적색 스펙트럼이 나타났으며, 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 적색 발광 스펙트럼의 세기는 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 증착 온도 변화에 따른 형광체 박막의 경우에, 272 nm로 여기 시켰을 때 614 nm의 적색 발광 피크를 확인 할 수 있었다. 모든 박막의 결정 구조는 정방정계이었다.

  • 최근 많은 환경오염물질을 제거하기 위한 방법으로 광촉매를 이용한 기술들이 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 높은 비표면적을 갖는 관촉매를 제조하기 위해, 전기화학적인 방법인 양극 산화법을 사용하여 기지 Ti 금속 표면에 pore 형태의 광촉매용 $TiO_2$를 제조하고, 염료분해 반응을 통해 광촉매의 효율을 조사하였다. 또한 염료분해 효율을 높이기 위해 $Eu(NO_3)_3$를 첨가하여 염료분해 반응에 미치는 영향에 대해 조사하였다.

Geochemical Composition of Volcanic Ash from Historical Eruptions of Mt. Baekdu, Korea (역사시대에 분화한 백두산 화산재의 화학 성분)

  • Volcanic ash samples of historical eruptions from Mt. Baekdu were analyzed for major oxides, trace and rare earth elements by a variety of analytical techniques. The results indicate that the ashes consist of approximately 58.8~71.1 wt.% $SiO_2$, 9.6~16.8 wt.% $Al_2O_3$, 4.5~6.9 wt.% $Fe_2O_{3t}$, 0.1~1.7 wt.% MgO, 0.3~1.6 wt.% CaO, 5.2~6.3 wt.% $Na_2O$, 4.3~5.9 wt.% $K_2O$ and less than 1.2 wt.% $TiO_2$. Thirty two trace metals including Ba, Cu, Cr. Co, Ni, Sr, V, Zn, and Zr were analyzed. The ashes can be divided two groups: group A(1 ka Millennium pumice, 1668 and $190{\underline{3}}$ pumice) and group B(1702 pumice) according to the relative enrichment of HREEs. The abundances of heavy metals such as Cu, Co, Mn, and Zn were relatively low. As compared to the Sakurajima volcanic ash, Baekdusan volcanic ash has low concentrations of Y, Nb, Pb, U, Sc, V, Ni and Cu and high concentrations of Zr, Ba, Hf, Cr, Co, Zn and rare-earth (except Eu).

Luminescent Properties of Europium-Doped Lanthanum Silicon Nitride Phosphor

  • Europium-doped $LaSi_3N_5$ phosphor was synthesized from LaSi/Si/$Si_3N_4/Eu_2O_3$ mixture by nitridation at $1390^{\circ}C$ and additional annealing at $1650^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The phosphor shows emissions in the green light region with a maximum at 560 nm. With increasing europium content in the general formula $La_{1-z}Eu_zSi_3N_{5-z}O_{1.5z}$ from z = 0.01 to 0.06 there was a maximum emission for z = 0.04 followed by concentration quenching for the highest europium content (z = 0.06).

3D Architectures of LaVO4:Eu3+ Microcrystals via an EG-assisted Hydrothermal Method: Phase Selective Synthesis, Growth Mechanism and Luminescent Properties

  • In this article, pure $m-LaVO_4:Eu^{3+}$ and $t-LaVO_4:Eu^{3+}$ nanocrystals were prepared by an EG-assisted hydrothermal method with regular shapes. A series of controlled experiments showed that the pH value of a mixed solution, the volume ratio of $EG/H_2O$ and the dosage of the doped $Eu^{3+}$ all had an important effect on the sizes and shapes of the final products. Furthermore, the constitutional unit of the products changed from 0D to 2D with an increase in the EG dosage. The PL results showed that $t-LaVO_4$ doped with $Eu^{3+}$ ions had better luminescence properties than $m-LaVO_4$ due to its special structure. All of these results not only expand our understanding of the luminescence properties of lanthanide orthovanadates, but they also elucidate the principles of the crystal growth.
